My family arrived here on a Sunday night, looking for an easy, family dinner. The 2 women who greeted us were pleasant enough. As we walked to our table, it was impossible to ignore the horrible smells. We sheepishly sat down and my wife said to me that we're not staying here and we promptly left. I can only hope this was a one time only occurrence as there seemed to be plenty of people who were unbothered by the stench.

The ONLY place I’ve found on cape cod that makes twice baked potatoes they’re so perfectly good!!! And the staff is great!! I love Rooney’s!!! Highly recommend Jake Rooney’s!!!

We ordered Cabernet beef. It was delicious and for desert we had New York cheesecake which was delicious as well. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.

Worse meal we had this weekend and most expensive. 4 adults and the best part of the meal was the rolls. Waitress however was fantastic. That's the reason I gave it a 2 star instead of a 1 star.

Food was ok we had chicken tenders for an appetizer the batter was light and delicious. I had fish tacos which were good not super spectacular especially since they didn't have a baked haddock option only fried but that's just my preference. My husband had a fish sandwich which he said was ok. The waiter was very odd and very fake and the whole atmosphere was off. Wouldn't go there again.

Was down the cape visiting my parents and my father recommended stopping by Jake's. It looked like a little hole in the wall but was very nice and cozy inside. Good calamari and had some really great 'earth surf and turf'. IE great tender steak tips and very good stuffed shrimp. Will go back next time we're down there.

The owner responded to my son's review earlier. Let me make it clear that this establishment failed in every way, including attitude of the staff, and appearance of the facility. However, it is abundantly evident that ownership is the source of the problem. Jake Rooney has no clue what "gluten free option" means. It involves obtaining a gluten free alternative to the deleted ingredient. A gluten Free lobster roll is not a plate of lobster salad. It is lobster on a gluten free roll. Gluten free shrimp scampi is not shrimp and potatoes. It is shrimp over gluten free pasta. Talk to the A & W across the street. They grasp this basic concept. You simply randomly place 'gf' next to whatever you feel like. And your wait staff is equally without a clue or a care. That was why we left.

Googled their menu and when went to pay it was 10.00 over ...Manager flat out refused to refund difference .."I didn't see what I did wrong " was her response...this is why we will never be back and will every one we know what happened ...we are locals here also

We left without eating. They have GF (gluten free) designated for certain items on their menu but have no idea what that means. The customers appeared to be elderly people whose sense of taste deserted them sometime during the 1990s. We had eaten here several years ago, and thought it was good. We must have been on something. It didn't even smell good; that's never a positive sign for a place selling food. This place is the opposite of dining. In the future, if this is the only restaurant open, I will forage for berries and edible weeds.

Love this place for its stand out hot stone meal, where you cook it yourself with a really hot rock. I can't talk much about the other items on the menu as I mostly come here for the hot stone. The one downside is the new dinning area they setup - it feels to open, if they where to put up some wall between the tables I think that would help a lot on the aesthetic side.

Great steak on a stone! Friendly service! — this review was 2 weeks ago and I gave it 5 stars. Went back last night and the food and service were as wonderful as the last time. However, the Saturday night “entertainer” was so loud it made it impossible to talk at our table and to ignore his sometimes crude and inappropriate songs. We asked if it could be turned down so we and the other families in the dining room could have an enjoyable evening, but we were told the singer wouldn’t. Apparently, there were type of shutters that could have closed the dining room off at least a bit, but they weren’t closed. Very disappointing.

Food is good, prices reasonable but service is poor. We sat at their nice new bar and there was only one bartender. We watched the bartender walk past us several times to wait on the regulars. By the time we ordered, the regular sitting next to us was finished with dinner.

When people consider the age-old question, "Where in heck do the locals eat?," the answer in Harwich is Jake Rooney's. Yet while they cherish their prized and handsome eatery featuring (King) Arthur's masterful soups ("chowdahs")and fresh entrees with al dente vegetables, they are decent and civil about sharing their oasis for ample comfort food and top-notch drinks. (Some folks also relish the live music, the KENO and the stellar service.) This spot may well be the Cheers of the mid-Cape!

Well after 4 years living on Cape Cod we discovered that place, and was a nice surprice, we went there to watch playing the Clayton Restaino blues proyect band to celebrate a birthday of a friend and we were so happy we did it because the place , food , service , and price was awesome . And has a big parking space. We will come back for sure.

I absolutely love this place! Service is always phenomenal. Food is incredible. Try the Stone Grill experience. They bring you a hot stone with your steak/chicken/lobster/fish just starting to cook on it. Pretty cool. Apps are great. Boneless wings are the best I've had. Chilli is out of this world. I could go on... point is, I've never had a bad meal here. Before you go, check the Paint Nite on Cape Cod website. They do events here occasionally... it's a great way to spend an evening. Ward is the best!

Great place for local cape codders. Live music was really good, everyone was super friendly. The chicken parmesan and the scallop scampi were delicious. The Tex-Mex isn't too bad but I would stay with the local dishes. (Said buy a Texan, so it's hard to impress me) However they have the best fajitas on Cape when I need a taste from home.

Jake Rooney's for "Geno Sings Sinatra" (Google it) every Sunday is a 5-star review. Other nights, it's still a 4-star review with a nice ambiance, good to great service, pretty good food, and a really cool and unique thing called Stone Grilled, which is "an exciting experience that presents your meal cooking on a heated stone at your table." Friendly regulars, very family-friendly for Cape visitors.

Was hungry and was looking to eat simply some chiken and mash potatoes, When i came inside i was approached and they said they will make some for me.. I do not know if they had that on the menu but they wore kind enough to fix me a grilled chicken breast and serve it as a sandwich with lettuce tomatoes mayo and have a little boll of mash with it just as i asked. It was very kind of them to make it, Very friendly and polite and extremely helpful. They even had music with a older gentleman who sing live! Definitely a place to go visit and one day i will be back. Thank you!

We enjoyed our meal so much our first night, we went back for a do-it-again the next night! Of particular note is their absolutely delicious French onion soup. I would say it's the best I have ever had. The service by Jackie was wonderfully friendly and happy. We so enjoyed her attitude and professionalism. We will definitely return!

My meal came with a butternut squash side and as I was eating it I realized I was chewing on a piece of a clear plastic bag. I showed this to the waitress and asked her to let the cook staff know. She said "I'm sorry about that" and took it away but did not offer any assurances of resolving the problem and offered no compensation of any sort - even my beer was fully charged.

I'll be perfectly honest, I was here about 2 years ago and it was not even close to being a 2. However, I revisited and to my surprise everything was fantastic ! Soooo much better now. The food was wonderful (try the "popcorn shrimp") the staff were so polite and fast, the whole atmosphere has changed for the better. A local restaurant, filled with locals, and some absolute delicious local cuisine. Make this one a "definite" this summer.

The chicken pot pie soup was delicious. The baked Haddock was the best baked fish I have ever had. The timing of placement of food on the plate was off. The sides were cold. The sides were replaced with nicely hot ones. The waitress was very nice.

We (my wife, 3 year old son and my parents) were looking for dinner Saturday night of the July 4th holiday week. First couple of places had 1.5 hours or longer waits. My parents had been here before and gave a call and they could seat us right away. My son and I shared the fajitas. We went with Chicken and Shrimp. Aside from the shrimp, it was good. And the shrimp tasted fine, but is was breaded which I wouldn't expect for a fajita. Service was good. Atmosphere wasn't anything special but was fine. Ultimately we would go back again. It was just what we needed this night.

Very slow service. took over 15 minutes to get a beer, and I reminded her once we got out appetizer, once I got it the waitress apologized and said they had to replace the keg...well they could have let me know. Food was pretty good, but won't go back because of slow service. Waitress needed to be reminded that my husband also ordered a salad which most places will bring out before the meal starts.

From the outside it appears unassuming. On the inside, the staff is exceptional, attentive, and friendly! The food was excellent and the entertainment was talented. The place was very busy and a little cramped, but, due to the quality of service, you quickly forget!
