Brunch was SO GOOD, service was even better. definitely coming back ❤️
The music was a bit loud inside, so we sat outside. The food was good, the wine as well, and service was good as well.
Passed by this restaurant and decided to stop in for lunch. The atmosphere was really nice, along with the decor. The menu for lunch was very limited, however, we ordered an appetizer of mussels to start off and then our entrees. We ordered the Serrano ham tartine and croques monsieurs - they were very good, both entrees came with their house fries which was delicious! I’ll definitely recommend anyone here because the food was on point!
Good food, tasty and good portions, but not amazing, jawdropping. Staff couls be better trained, even though they were nice
Foie gras lovers!! You have to try it!!! Amazing!
The staff was nice and accommodating. However, there was no hot food served before 4.
Excellent service, food, wines, deserts and everything elses. The experience was almost erotic from a gastronomic point of view.
Nice people good version “tapa style” of French classics
Lovely place in the South End. Had a delicious meal and the atmosphere was great!
Wonderful evening! Great food, wine pairing, professional, friendly staff, tasteful and fun interior. Enjoy!
Nice place
It is a good as it gets! Excellent service, great location..the food is just amazing and the wine selection is unbelievable! Great job on the decoration. Totally recommended!
The welcoming from the manager was very rude. The drinks were bad (the Bloody Mary is probably the worst I’ve ever had). However the food was good. In particular the duck hash. Excellent!
Beautiful space, wonderful staff, and delicious Frosé!
Nice place for a Sunday brunch, they have a great selection and a real cool solarium in the back
Great service and food!!
Request to sit in the greenhouse! +Classic French bistro food that hits the spot +perfectly decorated. Very Instagram friendly. -A bit overpriced for the portion sizes and conservative wine pours
I ate here last night and everything was great. The food was delicious, the wine was great, and the service was amazing. I'd certainly recommend this for both a small group of friends celebrating something special or a romantic date night. The owners are great!
Had a very unwelcoming entering of the resturant as I was meeting a friend for dinner. Hostesses and Manager just stared as I walked in and the Bartender was actually the one who verballed words to me. I sat with my friend in the back and we had a great time, server was very robotic, great smile but minimal personality. For such a beautiful establishment could use a better focus on true guest engagement and creating a meaniful experience.
A Great wine selection and cocktail offering. I enjoyed the Brussel Sprout, steak tartare, broccoli.... Brunch here is fantastic as well! Eggs benedict
nice place in boston
Somewhat disappointed. Service was good, food was mediocre for our visit. Excellent desserts.
Cutest little bistro and atmosphere. The food and wine was great! The service however not so much. We were seated and it was not very busy but it took 20 mins for someone to even greet us and service remained very slow and not attentive.
Perfect little bistro to be enjoyed year round. The food, specially the mussels are some of the best outside France and Belgium. Service is attentive and timely. Could be crowded on weekends, brunch time or Friday-Saturday evenings. Give it a try, you'll be pleased.
Charming French bistro and wine bar. Excellent food with a nice selection of wines, however this place is L-O-U-D. We could barely hear each other talk over the din of conversations and at one point we felt we had to shout at the wait person for her to hear us. This is likely because the interior contains lots of glass and glossy surfaces including a tin ceiling; nice to look at, but the sound waves were ricocheting. Recommend to management to try hanging fabric or wool wall hangings to absorb the sound.
Nice ambiance and great service, but I found the food somewhat underwhelming. My steak was cooked very nicely but seriously lacked in any flavour from either the meat itself or the peppercorn sauce, which should be rich and creamy and delicious, but wasn't. Others at the table enjoyed their pasta well enough, so perhaps I just ordered a dud dish? The menu was nice, so I'd possibly try it again and order something else in the hopes of a better meal.
Smaller portions. Somewhat pricey. Uncomfortable chairs. Annoying waiter. Very good food. Fantastic location. Great ambiance.
Delicious food and great service.
Food was very interesting but ingredients were not the best. Brought down the experience.
Very expensive, small space, food is decent, but seems overly pretentious without reason.
Yet another restaurant that I was introduced thanks to Seated. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, especially for the wine list. We bought over seven dishes for the table and everything was excellent! I look forward to going back for more foie gras and octupus salad!
Thought the food was decent. The escargot toast was great, but some dishes like the scallop crudo fell flat. Service has a few kinks to get out. Overall - pretty good.
Coming from a French person : the food quality there is AMA-ZING! And good products combined to a great chef leads to a wonderful French food experience! On top of that staff is uber friendly and complete the experience. I'll definitely come back here!!!
Friendly staff, quick service, pretty tasty food for highish prices. The croissant bread pudding was forgettable although the vanilla ice cream was lovely and flavorful. The green beans were fresh and perfect for the summer day, and the beef was so tender although the sauce was a tad sweet. The cavatelli was nice as well, soft and refreshing, with generous mushrooms. Overall a nice experience, $100 for two including drinks, tax, and tip.
Cute, small little French bistro. Perfect for photos, a brunch with friends, or even a romantic date. Came here for a lunch date with my boyfriend and we were seated on the patio, which was a beautiful area on a sunny winter's day. We shared the creamy onion soup, I got the duck confit tartine, and my boyfriend got the serrano ham tartine. Everything was delicious and the server was super friendly. We had a great time and would definitely visit again!
Cool vibe but cozy. Excellent french toast!!! Best one I had in a good while!
Limited menu, but good food. Overpriced.
Excellent food, and even better service. After I pointed out a very minor item that was off with my order, in addition to fixing the order, they offered us a free dessert. We ended up trying the creme brûlée, which is the best I’ve had in years. Charming decor: well-lit and covered in mirrors, creating a very pleasant lighting effect.
OMG ... salmon tartare
Great coffee, delicious croissants, perfectly poached eggs and wonderful, friendly atmosphere!
Very pricy for what it is on your plate. The waiter was very confusing too. After telling us that it will take 25 min to our food to be ready, he offered to us to try an appetizer that we never ordered. We thought okay that is nice until the bill comes and we see $20 from the appetizer we never wanted. To be fair the manager took it off, but I don't like that kind of spirit. I won't recommend to anyone and I won't go again. Better go to Barcelona cross the street.
The food is great and the service is awesome, atmosphere is magical with their bright lights on the wall
Amazing food. Best to go for brunch time. The mushroom crepe is delicious.
Very nice little place with ok food and good service. The oysters were great, the goat cheese with passion fruit was delicious, but the steak frites was not that good.
We were there at 1pm and they were only serving breakfast. Good but nothing great...would have like to try the regular menu since that looked much better. I suggest only going after 4pm unless you are looking for a normal breakfast.
I hated what I ordered but that's only because I was being adventurous with my choices.
staff is always super even when they have a full house. i've had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. wish it was closer to my house, i would come every week.
Coq au Vin is outstanding, service and atmosphere was great as well.
Owner and staff are outstanding in delivering an above average service. And the food matches! Intimate space and a great vibe too!
Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. Frenchie proves you don't have to be stuffy to have good food. From the duck liver mouse appetizer to the Salomon and stay friets mained, everything was superb, presentation, speed and flavor. It's a small intimate space but does not feel cramped. We will be coming back soon.
Sublime poached pear dessert and tea selection/experience
Tasty drinks! A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.
Everything a neighborhood bistro should be. I stumbled upon Frenchie after a long day of work on a business trip to Boston, and couldn't be happier that I found this cozy nook. Amazing wine list, great food, with an owner and staff that was more than able to navigate me towards the wines and dishes I'd enjoy most. Their warmth and genuine love and knowledge of food made it the best experience I had my entire trip.
I lived 2 years in Paris and Frenchie is like one of those original Parisien bistros: great food and very friendly staff. I highly recommend the chocolate mousse!
Delicious duck
Great service, fantastic food and excellent wine selection. I've had dinner here twice and will be visiting it more. Highly recommended!
Love Frenchie's!! Great food. Great Service 5 stars
The waiting area to get seated is super tight to the point that it gets jammed with staff and customers. Took more than few minutes for the server to take our order. Food is good; however, more varieties in the entree section would be nice.
Beautifully designed space with a warmth from the garden light in the back and the friendly staff. The wine list is not just french wines and represents a solid selection, the food is a great taste of french cuisine. Make reservations in advance this space fills up quick!
Pretty good French food.
Their brunch menu is soooo good!
Wonderful atmosphere and location. Many affordable options as well as more expensive ones. I got a Turkey Croques Monsieurs which I personally thought was sort of bland, but a friend who got the same thing thought it was a great lunch. Either way, I'm sure I'm bound to go back since it's such a nice establishment.
Great cozy little spot with delicious food and great service. Can't wait to go back
Good place for a sit down lunch. Good prices for the South End.
Great spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Laid back and friendly vibe. Nice seating area out front on pleasant evenings.
Food and drink were delicious!! The service was great, too. Definitely will be going back.
We went for brunch and the quality of food was really lacking. Salmon was gross, steak was overcooked, and flavors were totally off. Service was also a joke. Even though this place is on Eater's brunch list, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone!
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. The service was super friendly. I highly recommend it.
Food ok, but small portion. Wines really not at the level of a french restaurant like Ma Maison. 1st time, last time
Nifty food, elegant but casual, and great for date night.
Awesome staff and great service. Delicious eats, try the charcuterie, tasteful wine list. Highly recommend
An authentic French bistro with a knowledgeable and passionate staff and, of course, fabulous food. Highly recommend! The brussel sprouts in black garlic aioli is the only item on the menu that has been consistent since they opened; don't miss it. We enjoyed oysters, mussels, salmon crudo, and a perfectly prepared whole Branzino that the chef personally presented. A perfect evening!
Excellent staff! It was a really busy time when I went in but they were on point. The dish i ordered was absolutely amazing.
Salmon tartare and steak frites are amazing along with two different French red wines! Staff genuinely awesome!
To kick off our dinner, we shared some « escargots », some « coq au vin », and what I consider to be the best Tuna Tartare in town. Everything was so good that we asked for extra bread to finish all the sauce, but please don’t repeat that... But it wasn’t until the traditional « steak frites » cooked medium rare and the home made french fries, which is such a typical french meal, and which was soooo good, that I trully felt like in one of the best French brasserie in Paris. And I’m not done yet... I won’t even get started with the wine and cheese list, because I could write 2000 words only about it and how I almost had tears of joy because of it, but I’d say this: The olive oil cake we had as a dessert is simply the best dessert I had in a very long time, and makes it worth it by itself to put Frenchie on top of your to-dos when you come to Boston. LOVED IT!
Great French with casual tapas feeling and wonderful service...
Delicious! Small place very intimate, great drink options.
Excellent service and delicious rotating menu. You also can't beat their wine list!
Delicious small plates, fast and friendly service, nice modern but relaxed atmosphere. Will be coming back, great place to catch up with a friend
Tucked into a garden level setting is this little gem. Busy for brunch, but worth it with duck confit hash or a basket of buttery pastries and glass of champagne. Their fresh summer tartine was flavorful, filling and decently priced.
Has the feel of a true French bistro with a small street side patio for people watching at a busy and interesting corner. There is also a glass conservatory type room at the back overlooking the garden.
Pricey but worth the experience. The greenhouse room in the back is nice, but the view could use some work. All the food was delectable. Cocktails were interesting and strong.
Absolutely delicious! we went for dinner on a Sunday night and all the dishes, from appetizers to main dish and dessert, they all were really tasty and with an eclectic fusion of flavors into the French cuisine. The ambiance was very inviting and staff was pretty friendly. We are definitely going back whenever we have the opportunity!
Great tapas style menu! But French so much better!
Arguably the best French food in the greater Boston area. I had the duck which melted in my mouth. My husband had the steak frites- beautifula The portions were very large. The service was impeccable. It was well priced for French food.
Simply adorable. Fantastic variety of wines and great service. The ambiance is perfect. Beautiful bar and beautiful enclosed gardens. I went on a Saturday quite early around 4PM so seating was no problem. But I’d go back and risk coming here for a more bustling hour and try the food.
Outstanding experience. Great food and drinks
I delivered for my company to them, never ate there but I know the people that work there are nice.
Great cozy real French place. Awesome good with awesome service.
Very friendly service and good food. Great value for Money
I was skeptical by the name of the restaurant but the waiters did indeed have thick French accents, and the foot was spot on. Mussels were well executed, but I would not recommend the duck. Overall, great place for wine and drinks,.
Cozy, intimate and warm environment - perfect for lingering over a delicious meal with friends. I haven’t had a meal like this in ages. Frenchie is exactly what a neighborhood bistro should be. We started with cocktails (the frose was perfect) then moved on to wine - you can get a glass of most wines on the menu so we tried three! The escargot toast and foie gras were our favorite appetizers, and the branzino was incredible - salt crusted whole fish, deboned and prepped at the table. I thought I was full but then the desert came. The olive oil cake was beautifully moist and the creme brûlée perfection. Honestly an overall incredible meal in such a beautiful, comfortable space that made French dining feel like a local meal with friends.
I really, really wanted to like this place. The decor is gorgeous, the menu and wine selection looked great but the service was terrible. It was not crowded when I went and I sat at the bar, so there is really no excuse, but the best service I got was from a runner. They have lots of natural wines and lots of fun stuff by the glass. He talked me through the wine list and poured me a taste of something. Ultimately I ordered a glass but I was waiting so long that I opted out of ordered food or a second. I was curious about the food but ultimately I would rather be at a place with friendly and attentive staff.
My July 13th Saturday evening was ruined by the worst hostess in history. My boyfriend wanted to surprise me withe dinner date and decided to take me to this Backbay establishment. We enter the front door of Frenchie and proceed to sit at the bar...I thought it would be nice to get a table in front since there was clearly 4 tables open and it was 6:20 in the evening. We proceeded approach the hostess for seating . We got the dirtiest look ever and we immediately thought it was because we were interracial couple since we received this kinda of look often from many who disapprove. What set me off is when she said in condensing voice let me see if we have tables in the back. Me and my partner look at each other to acknowledge that she was judging us and the "sitting in the back" statement came off racist. She two steps forward not looking at any sheet and said we don't have sitting and would have to sit us outside. She was also training a new hostess and asks the new girl she was training to sit us outside. I wasn't happy but didn't want to upset my partner by making a huge ordeal. So we proceeded to outside on the top tier tables in the corner as the trainee guided us to do. She served us water and then and stated she will be back.Five minutes later the hostess from hell came back and told her trainee not to sit us there but at the bottom of the stairs by the door away from foot traffic. Me and partner look at each other again to acknowledge that something is definitely wrong here. We were highly upset that we had to carry our water to the table below... but did so because we want enjoy the French cuisine. 4 minutes later the hostess asks us do want anything to drink and asked for ID. We then proceeded to order drinks, 10 minutes later our drinks arrived. Our hostess procceded to walk away but my lovely partner caught her and said we would like to order. We both order the Steak Frites, his medium rare and mines would be well done. 10 minutes later a waiter came out and put down one plate of food. We asked where is the other plate, the waiter said he would go back to hostess and have her come out. Took her 5 minutes to come out and said in conscending voice did you order two. I just about lost it at this point. My partner took the lead and said Yes. She then proceeded to ask me do I still want it. I said of course, but she didn't ask me how I wanted to cook. Another 10 minutes passes by and me watching my partner eat his food. My food steak frites arrives and well done. I thought it was funny how she didn't ask me the second time how I wanted my steak done. I would never recommend this place if you're looking for a good meal. It's over-priced and the hostess was rude. If I could this place a zero instead of 1 star I would.
We setup a birthday dinner here and had a wonderful time. There is a great wine selection and lots of unexpected options on the menu, its all good. Everything we ordered was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommended!
Great food.. The French toast is to die for!!
Delicious food. Perfect for brunch too. I would recommend making a reservation since it can get pretty busy.
Love the atmosphere of this small restaurant, it's cosy without feeling cramped even when it's packed. The wine list is very impressive and the bartenders are amazing. The food is French inspired but certainly has an American influence, the onion soup for example is creamy and thick rather than a traditional french onion soup. Everything we tried was delicious.
Great food
Rarely do I give negative reviews but the hostess here is extremely rude and unprofessional. We booked a table with them but were told in a condescending and disturbing manner that we could only sit down for 30 minutes at brunch(The place was only half full at the time). I would not recommend this place.
Very nice french cousins, friendly atmosphere
Great service and food is amazing. Their coffee is really good too. The French toast was delicious.
Beautiful space and amazing food! Went here for Easter brunch and it was superb! The croque madame is wonderful and the viennoiserie basket is a must. Service is excellent! Ask to sit on the atrium in the back it’s a different experience than a usual brunch or lunch outing.
Absolutely wonderful little place. If you like wine, they have a great selection. The food is delicious and the staff is super nice. We'll come back for sure.
Dont go there hungry lol the food portion are very small.
Loved it!
Perfection for lunch, brunch or dinner. Viva le frose!
Went for drinks and appetizers. Girlfriend seemed to enjoy the Frose, other drinks were fairly good. Oysters tasted a little off, but the meat and cheese board was well done.
