Went there after a wake. Both female bartenders not only didn't take my drink order but didn't even acknowledge me. There was a total of 8 other customers at the bar. Certainly not overwhelming.

Came in, asked for a pint and some plastic silverware. Got me pint but they refused to give a fork and knife unless I ordered food. It’s no business of yours why I asked for takeout cutlery, their balding male server/bartender needs some retraining in hospitality.

Overall, I'm a big fan of Donohue's. The service is typically strong, the atmosphere is a good blend of local and festive, and the food is pretty good for bar food. Also, you won't have to break the bank for a fun night out with friends. Definitely come during the summer/nice weather as they have one of the nicer patios I've been to in the area.

I make my way to Donohue's on a weekly basis for trivia on Wednesday and even though I had never heard of it up until that point, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the place. Despite it's modest exterior, the food is really, really solid - probably some of the most well-executed bar food I've had; burgers, wraps, sandwiches, wings, you name it, it's all delicious. I'm a sucker for their steak tips personally. Service is also good and efficient which is nice and the place is busy for trivia which makes it fun although the acoustics sometimes do make it challenging to hear the questions. My only real gripe with the place is the lack of beer list, forcing our waiters to list the beers every time (not that it matters that much since their taps don't really rotate). They do make up for it with plenty of televisions though and an awesome patio.

Last weekend, me and a group of friends had a terrific experience at Donahue's Bar and Grill. The ambience is terrific, and definitely appeals to both older and younger crowds of people. The owner has put in a wonderful acoustic ceiling, which allows the music to radiate throughout the entire dining floor and bar. The food is very fairly priced, as are the drinks. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner, who is a great man and truly made the experience top notch. He has put in a lot of hard work in the past 18 years to make this establishment stellar, and I really appreciate owners who take the time to ensure their patrons satisfaction. Very old school approach, and it meant the world. Would recommend to anybody!

This place is friendly open and rocks onion rings! Plenty of on street parking, open Sundays, tons of tv screens (not a fan but not loud) it's off the beaten path near Mt.. Auburn but also Watertown Mall. If you go be sure to hit Arax grocery nearby.. Great prices good people.

This is a great local place. The food is really delicious and the beers are ice cold. It’s a sports bar so expect that kind of fun and loud atmosphere. Out back they have an awesome patio with a fire pit and a tv to watch the game. Been coming here for a long time and will continue to.

I've been going to Donahues for years now with my two married friends. It is always a lot of fun, holds special memories! I do love the old bar setup, but the new, renovated bar is beautifully done. Good American comfort food. Waitresses are attentive. Fast service. One thing to work on is the smell of cleaning products in the air. It's been there every time i've been there but it's not overpowering and you quickly get used to it and don't notice.

You can never go wrong here. Great food awesome service they have Triva on Wednesday nights 8pm unless there is a Celtics or Bruins game on unless noted on their website and/or Facebook or Instagram pages. We've taken friends here all the time and they fall in love with the food and atmosphere and always want to eat there when they come to visit us. The lobster mac&cheese is to die for and if you ask for added bacon you'll never have it any other way. And their Prime rib is good it melts in your mouth such a velvety buttery feel to it. Very family friendly, great place to watch baseball, football, basketball college or pros.

Staff and resteraunt in total were good, but we ordered a boneless wings double order and half an hour later we get bone wings so we had to tell them that we asked for boneless and got them fifteen minutes later. Also the boneless wings weren't that good.

This has always been one of my favorite lunch places. I generally only get a diet coke to drink (working) but the beer selection is pretty good, and the food is way better than "pub grub" without becoming pretentious. Its all solid straightforward fare executed very well. It's lively at night, but at lunchtime you can easily carry on the conversation. Which is nice as at least their lunch staff is always friendly. The staff is also competent and understand service, which is even better. I really like this place.

Donohue's offers a great patio out back, perfect for summer drinks! There is a good selection of beer and prices are reasonable. The food here is average for a bar- the BBQ chicken sandwich was rather dry but their steak bomb as been great ... in summary your milage will vary for food.

Talented kitchen staff pumping out some really great food, friendly and attentive bar/dining staff, good beer selection (with a very nice sports bar ambiance), has made Donahue's one of our favorite places to visit. Not to mention they have great specials, like Taco Tuesdays (yes, they have lobster tacos), frequent 45cent wings that come with a wide selection of sauces to choose from, and half off apps during Thirsty Thursdays 4-11pm. Highly recommended, and well deserving of a 5☆ review!
