They've earned best of the best for breakfast in medford almost every year since 2002 for a reason. (I suspect the only reason why it wasn't every year was so it wouldn't seem like it was rigged.) Dempsey's is hands down one of the best breakfast nooks in Massachusetts. Portions are great, staff is very friendly, prices are very reasonable, and the food is always incredible. 3 tips to finding a good breakfast place. 1: Ones that open early and close early are usually the best. 2: Places that only take cash 3: small place of business, not more than 60 people (why? Because it means high quality, cooks are not rushed.) Couple that with an almost instant turn around on your orders and you can see why Dempsey's is the best breakfast and lunch place on the North Shore

The only question i have is why do they have the "Please wait to be seated sign up" all the damn time! I've been their twice the first time i waited by the sign for 15 minutes while your staff ignored me. Then they told me to seat myself. The second time the sign was still up, i wasn't sure what to do. Had to ask a passer by. BUT WHAT'S THE POINT OF A SIGN????? It just confuses first timers and aggravates the mis informed as soon as they walk in the door. The foods alright. It's diner food, good enough and cheap. I just wonder if they don't have time to move a sign to a closet do they have time to clean or to properly prepare food??????

Cash only when we are in 2017. Omelette and eggs were over cooked to my liking. Ordered coffee on phone, was told they would make it when we pick up, no coffee when we got back to the hotel. Overly clean looking place with very friendly people. They were open on July 4th! The portions were well sized for their price. Until next time Boston.

I'm having the best food I ever tried is simply clean , friendly and cosy . This beautiful grandmother came with my chicken noodle soup and offered me bread with , I tried and I felt like I was sitting at my grandmother's house eating . I'm also eating more chicken as a salad sandwich it's the fresh and delicious . The place is small clean bright,. smells like love and peace . I'm so happy I got inside , do something to yourself and come here if you are in the neighborhood you don't have reason to miss it out . Thanks for the beautiful experience and food .

Many people might take one glance at Dempsey’s and think that this is just another breakfast joint; but allow me reiterate a common piece of wisdom. Never judge a book by its cover! Upon finishing your first breakfast at Dempsey’s you will quickly come to the realization that this “Breakfast Joint” is in a league of its own. Their menu has a large variety of American favorites, yet they are all made with such care and perfection that I dare call these affordable luxuries, delicacies. If you are a French toast lover, look no further, Dempsey’s will put your grandmother’s French Toast to shame. I don’t care if your grandmother hails from the South of France or has a degree from Le Cordon Blue, to put it simply Dempsey’s French Toast is on another plane of existence.… Please note, their Pancakes are also to be treated with an equal amount of respect. If 3 egg omelets are more your caveat, their extensive list of creative combinations contain some of the finest ingredients this side of the Mississippi. Legend has it that a man was able to save his marriage from the brink of destruction after serving his disgruntled wife an Italian Omelet from Dempsey’s. This alone should be sufficient enough evidence to prove that Dempsey’s food is an awe inspiring culinary experience. However they also service the commuter, If you are in a rush and not able to sit down for a meal, a breakfast sandwich from Dempsey’s will satisfy even the most ravenous of hunger pangs and is an excellent way to start off you day. Last but not least, they make freshly baked muffins on sight and these bad boys are to be savored and worshiped at all cost. If you are looking for an amazing restaurant to satisfy your every need, go to Dempsey’s. It might just save your marriage.

I had a Dempsey omelet it was small with very little fixings inside the potatoes were not cooked. The restaurant is very small and lots of people. The waitresses were friendly and fast. I give it a 2 Star because of the Food and the high price for it

Coffee was good but the omelette was ok. They don't take credit cards!!! And the worst part is they don't have a sign outside saying only cash...wondering why....but they have an ATM inside. Pretty good breakfast sandwich. Got a sausage , egg, and cheese on english. All real (compared to fake egg-look-alike product at the fastfooderies). Tasted good because it was good. Black coffee easily passed my taste test and I think I am very discerning. Will return.

Terrible! Go back outside and return to your vehicles. Go straight to doo wop diner wait is always long but thats because the food is amazing. My pancakes were burnt extra crispy I could not cut through them.... had to send them back they don't take card cash only but they fail to tell you that in the beginning so they offer an atm which has a 3.00 dollar charge. My meat lovers omelet was OK at best. Don't waste your time here.

Let me start with the wait staff is pleasant. Order was received in a timely manner which was quick for what was ordered. The food is average. Corn beef hash is canned which to me is a huge deal breaker for breakfast place. If any one has good taste buds for quality eating canned is like cat food. Price is high for the quality. french toast is like a 99 cent thin and cheap loaf of crappy white bread unless you ask for Texas toast which is a little better. Quality and quantity is slightly average. Omelette was tasty and good sized could be better if the use slightly better quality meats. corn beef sliced very thin and low quality. Home fries are bland lightly seasoned potatoes and are semi dry. top of all this you have to pay $3 atm fee because the do not take card which is unexceptable in any food establishment. The owner very nice and accommodating he has excellent customer service skills and definitely trys to help and to make sure you leave satisfied I do give him this. He will definitely take care of any unhappy situation and try to make positive. He is very pleasant and understanding. The place had a nice atmosphere it was tiny and quaint and very clean. One down fall was seating slightly uncomfortable the booths had a low table that basically sat on my lap. Overall place is ok little lower end on quantity and quality. Breakfast taste was ok not super but it's not on the worse I've had. Price should be slightly lower or portion sightly more. I also recommend expanding on options in menu. It would also be better to make own corn beef hash it would definitely make this place better. If you have a signature dish it would improve costumer flow and help increase business. I give five star for cleanliness and outstanding costumer service. Would I come back? Possibly if I'm in area again. I would hope they would make slight changes to improve quality and quantity. I would like to see them take debit/credit card as well. I'm hoping next visit is improved. I've been to a total of 60 breakfast places in NEW England this place is one of the best in customer satisfaction but does lack slightly in quality. Do I want an average ok breakfast at an average ok breakfast place or do I want excellent breakfast at an amazing and original place that stands out?

One of the best breakfast places in Medford with the only drawback that it closes at 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sundays. The food is good and comes out quick with very reasonable prices. Dempsey's is a very small quaint breakfast nook, a local favorite in Medford. I love coming here every once in awhile for the home cooked food and fast service. It's not my favorite breakfast joint in the world but I do highly enjoy coming here.

This was my first time to visit Dempsey's and it was a good experience. Service was very quick and friendly and the food was very good. Will definitely be back. The only downside (if there has to be one) is they are cash only. There is an ATM in the restaurant if you go unprepared.
