Truly delicious food, perfect service, and ambiance not to be matched. Such a pleasure.

A great dining experience. Wonderful food, unique atmosphere, attentive staff. The restaurant is in a sea captain's house (1698) and the tables are spread out in every nook and cranny allowing for an intimate setting in a sprawling building. Wonderful fresh local seafood as well as a sizeable "turf" side of the menu. My wife enjoyed local sea scallops, we shared delicious creamy lobster bisque, and lump crab cake. I had fantastic farm raised elk tenderloin in a win demi glaze .

We had been years ago to celebrate our anniversary, so came back to celebrate our wedding anniversary again and could not be more pleased. We had dinner in the Library, a private room, I chose a five course meal and my wife al acarte. The meal was incredible from the seared scallop appetizer to the chocolate raspberry mouse desert, duck and halibut for main courses all super. Special shout out to Mary our server who treated us like royalty. We stayed at the inn for 2 nights, they have 3 rooms available and the complimentary wine and cheese welcome was a great assortment of cheeses, dried fruits and nuts along with warm bread. In the morning assorted fruits, warm scones and blueberry buckle and really good coffee. Great job Chef Robert , Craig and thank you all.

This popular spot for locals is in a traditional house which offers cozy dining spots nestled in rooms throughout the home - and the food! Declious offerings at both the upscale restaurant (main house rooms) and the Bistro in the bar/main room. Quaint decor, exceptional service and fresh menu offerings during their summer season ... it's like coming home.

Elegant, five-star dining in a beautiful 18th century home. Never had anything less than a spectacular meal here. Get on their mailing list for advance notice of special dinners like the champagne dinner over Labor Day weekend. They also do a Beaujolais Nouveau dinner and a Game dinner. Their non-event dinners are truly events in their own right! A creative and sophisticated chef is hard at work in their kitchen.

Back during the 1960s and 70's this was the place; one of the finest restaurants in the country. My birthday cakes were always one of their etherial fruit tarts. The food is still good but they have been gliding on their past glories for a long time. Something of an air of shabbiness here.

Chillingsworth, whether the bistro or fine dining, is ways terrific. We just ate at the bistro, where the menus is not only varied but also offers creative and interesting preparations. Service is excellent and staff are knowledgeable. We always look forward to eating at Chillingsworth when we are on the Cape!

First and foremost, food was delicious. Tuna tartare as my starter, swordfish as my entree (which was a nice and thick piece of swordfish). All so good. It didn't take long at all to be waited as well. Very personal and friendly waiters and waitresses. Overall was a very nice experience and I would highly recommend it!

About Beautiful

My husband and I had a lovely dinner there a month ago when we visited Cape Cod. We though the service, food quality and ambience were lovely. We had a table in the garden which was very nice.

Andrew Sylvia

The food was decent, the atmosphere was kind of interesting, but the meal could have been presented in half the time. I had the seven course meal and wouldn't come here again for that.

Amy Barker

An incredible gem, the Chillingsworth bistro is set in a charming homey addition to the original historic fine dining building. The food is delicious and the menu extensive-with a $25 three course option, it feels like an incredible bargain!

Jen Corna

Not worth the price

Very overpriced for the food quality and the attention to service. They seem to be living on past reputation. Meal in "fine dining" section took 2:45 hours to complete, including waiting for 35 mins for our desert, which was ordered in advance. We had the Price Fixed meal, expensive at about $70 per person, and was supposed to include desert. We were upcharged an added $10.50 for the soufle desert, thus this cost about $20, as about $10 was built into the price for a "regular" desert. Main courses, tuna and swordfish, were almost inedible.. Swordfish was covered in a sauce with lots of saffron, which ruined the fish. Tuna had a sauce that was so hot, with white pepper we were told, that it burned our mouths. Neither of us finished the main course. Appetizer...crab cake, and lobster bisque were very good. Waitress brought us one roll apiece, and never asked if we wanted coffee. Could not wait to leave, and wont be going back.

I went to chillingsworth for the first time in a couple years, but I always remember the bistro being a restaurant with one of my favorite meals. however this experience was not like how I remembered it in years past. the restaurant seemed to be understaffed and it took a long time for us to get asked our order. secondly, although my dad had always been able to get a good vegetarian plate made in precious visits, the chef (agreeing to make one for him) sent out a plate with dry rice, 2 spears of asparagus, and 2 broccoli florets. and charged us $20! the other entrees were delicious but the chef clearly had an attitude and let an embarassing dish leave the kitchen under his reputation. probably will not be returning for a while unfortunately.

This was our first visit to Chillingsworth and our first visit to Cape Cod. We were recommended to come here by a friend who first ate here when the current owners first took over the place in the 1970's. Our friend, Jack, said the first time he came, he and his wife were skeptical since they had never eaten at this level before. The first time among other things they had chilled cherry soup. Forty years later and he still remembered it fondly enough to suggest we have our anniversary dinner here. And we are supremely happy we did. The scallops with cauliflower mash should have been a turn off because I really don't like cauliflower. But I really like scallops, my wife reminded me, so...I am happy I did. The tuna tartare was perfectly seasoned. The Creole lobster bisque was revelatory. The veal with morels was perfection. And the raspberry soufle was worth its weight in gold. Well, I guess platinum, since it was lighter than air. Service was exemplary. The hosts came out to chat with every table. All in all, a very nice dinner we look forward to havimg again the next time we come up here.

We had a large party reservation. We tried to arrange a prix fixe menu but there were multiple problems. We left several messages trying to get clarification but no one called us back. What is worse, they were rude and hung up on my fiancee multiple times. We canceled our reservation. I cannot speak to the food but the costumer services was atrocious. Speaking to the staff on the phone was like talking to a 3-year-old who hadn't had his nap. I will not be giving them my money and I will discourage others from going.

Chris Rush

The scallops were great and the service was excellent!

Gavin Pitchford

This is my favourite restaurant in the world. The food is consistently spectacular, and the servers knowledgeable, engaged, and suitably attentive, even on the busiest of nights. The menu is broad, both classical and inventive, and chef / hosts Nitzi and Pat warm and wonderful. The 7 course prix-fixe is a remarkable value, matched by a well-priced wine list that is both wide and deep. All in all a 10/10. An annual pilgrimage to Chillingsworth every Thanksgiving is something to which I look forward, starting the day after, and is a key piece of what gets me to Cape Cod every November for the past 25 years. If you're on the Cape and looking for a special meal you will remember for a long time, Chillingsworth is where you want to be.

Close friends having their anniversary! I said lets go to the best! The Welfleet oyster app was small burnt something other than an oyster.. The steak I got was shoe leather, the two tuna dinners were awful and the cod dinner was tasteless. Did the chef leave last Saturday evening? We had the worst meal ever on Cape and spent $245.00. We were so disappointed ! We did tell the waitress we were very unhappy.

Liz T

I've done the fine dining tasting menu several times. Just did the bistro for the first time. Ot was excellent and lots of fun. Food and service were great. Same great wine list. Many menu items overlap as well. Totally worth it when you want great food but maybe not the long multi course meal. We will make this a regular stop.

The best restaurant in New England. If I listed the five best meals I've ever had, Chillingsworth would be two of them. We've been about a half-dozen times, and every time we are greeted like we're old friends. The service is impeccable, from the bartender (Kathy is just great) to the wait staff and everywhere in between. We always sit in the fine dining as it's an escape from the hustle and bustle of reality. There's never a hurry or a push out the door. That isn't to say service is slow - it's just perfect. The ambience is old-school New England, a stop back into the past without feeling stodgy. The food trumps it all, with incredible chilled soups, crab cakes, risotto, perfectly cooked steak and every other meat we've ever had there. They take as much care in their desserts as every other corner of the menu. I cannot recommend Chillingsworth highly enough.

Mediocre and overpriced (based on my experience in the fine dining room only). Almost all of the food was subpar. What I was expecting to be fresh and flavorful was tasteless and ill-prepared. It was a chore just to eat these dishes, let alone enjoy them. A huge disappointment. The service was friendly but extremely slow. We hardly saw our waitress and we waited about 40 minutes for our appetizer to come out. I understand it was a busy night, but waiting that long for an app is unacceptable. I could have bit my tongue if we waited this long for an entree, but appetizers should come out much, much faster than this. The only thing that I liked about this place was the setting: classic French that maintains its elegance--I'll give them that. I had high expectations for this place given the prices, but now it's obvious that this pretentious restaurant is just playing at a fine dining experience.

Ate in the dining room (not the bistro). Very, very good. Would be 5 stars if it were a little less expensive or I was totally blown away. Quite romantic setting; table for 2 right in front of a fireplace. Great service.

The fine dining side of this restaurant is without equal on the Cape - absolutely wonderful food! Creative, fresh and done in traditional French style (soups, sauces, etc.) It's not low fat or inexpensive, but for a special night out, it is absolutely worth the price & the calories. We have also eaten in the bistro and it is quite good - not the gourmet excellence of the main dining room, but very good. I particularly like their escargots, done in a garlic cream sauce that is to die for! The bistro prices are very good value for the special food that you get. Both sides of this restaurant have excellent service. Highly recommend!

Jeffrey Hyer

An excellent French-style fine dining experience with an exciting menu with numerous choices, such as stuffed quail, elk, and cold fresh fruit soups. Attentive and knowledgable wait staff. Excellent wine and after dinner menu. The best deal for evening dining is the all-inclusive menu. Dinner for two took about two and one-quarter hours.

Great food and great service. Best restaurant on the cape

Jacob Green

Very disappointing meal. Took 3 hours and 15 minutes for one. We were the first to arrive and the last to leave. We can because of the Raspberry Soufflé but the waiter messed up one of them and the chef messed up the other. We didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for a new one. The lemon pudding also was unavailable as our second choice so ended up not even getting a dessert. The waiter barely visited our table throughout the 3 hour and 15 minute meal. Will not be coming back.

One of the best restaurants we've ever been to. Been here many times for the 7 course meal and at the Bistro and never had anything that was less than excellent. The fine dining menu is always varied with excellent meat, fish and veggie choices with each course more excellent than the prior course. The restaurant is in a charming old Victorian home with beautiful decorating throughout. Wonderful bar and the most hospitable owners. The prices are reasonable for the high quality of the food. Chillingsworth is the go to restaurant for an excellent meal for my entire family. Go and enjoy the experience!
