Fast lunch, really fresh food, and it's delicious. Hardly more to say about this place! There are two sizes and the small is a good meal though I definitely get the regular if I'm feeilng extra hungry. Don't skip trying the sauces- some put them in to go cups but I prefer to slather them right on my chicken & rice. The line can look long at weekday lunch hour but they move you through very quickly!

1st time. Got salad plate w organic tofu and hummus. Service was quick and fast. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Place is neat and clean. Pretty comfortable considering it's right in downtown Boston busy area. Food was fresh. Loved the soft pitas the most. Tofu had good flavoring. What could've made it better if the salad had more selections other than iceberg but that's just me because I want more nutrition.

My friend ordered a small rice plate with chicken + without lettuce. I ordered a small rice plate with chicken. Even though, my friend requested without lettuce, it still came with lettuce. Their chicken and rice used to be very good. But today, it is very disappointing because it is very, very salty. The table is a bit dirty. Seem like no one wipe the tabletop. The store wasn't extremely busy. Only two other customers eating their meal at the time when we're there.

Great place to have some lunch after spending some time walking all of Boston. The chicken is well marinated and the food came out quicker than expected. Even though the food probably wasn't made on the spot, it was still tasty and the sauces were good which added a good flavor to my dish. As my portion was so huge, I had to have leftovers for the next day. Overall, its a nice place to have some food in a small and nice place.

Went here 12/26 and have to revise my original post. The portions are large but the cumtato salad tastes worse than it sounds. It’s watery to the point of being soggy. The staff was definitely not the best I’m sure it was a skeleton crew being the day after Christmas and all, but the cashier was rude and the food is sub par for the area. The cashier basically pointed to the menu on the wall and then pointed to the menu on the wall and then to two styrofoam containers on the counter for size reference and just seemed annoyed I was ordering food. I don’t want to go to a restaurant that’s annoyed Im ordering food? There’s plenty of other restaurants in the area that treat you well, are the same price point, and quite honestly have better food.

I know it's surprising, but Chicken and Rice Guys sells... chicken and rice. Once you wrap your mind around that enigma, read on. "Beef and Lamb and Rice Guys" must have failed the marketing tests, but regardless, you can swap out your chicken with a gyro meat mix of beef and lamb. (...or tofu.). Both meat options are yummy, so the best option is to just get both as a combo. The dish is simple: meat, rice, lettuce, and a few pieces of pita. The meat is juicy and seasoned well. The rice manages to be reasonably moist and carries some flavor. The lettuce is there to give some brightness and coolness to an otherwise heavy, savory (greasy) dish. But since the meal is so simple, it's bland by itself. The real stars of the show are the sauces. Be absolutely sure to try one of the sauces. In fact, forgot about the food, just ask for a gallon of sauce. They have several kinds of sauces. The top three, starting with the best, are: 1) Garlic sauce 2) BBQ sauce 3) Mint cilantro sauce One taste of the garlic sauce would be enough to cure a cocaine addiction. Its tangy, creamy, and very garlic-y. The BBQ sauce tastes like a tangy version of a Texas BBQ sauce, as if they mixed sweeter Texas BBQ sauce with tangy-er North Carolina BBQ sauce. The garlic sauce and the BBQ work well together on the same plate. For a regular sized portion, grab two or three of the little sauce cups. For $8, this is a lot of food. To be fair, it's mostly rice, but it tastes great and it's very filling. I often don't finish a regular portion during lunch, lest I overstuff myself. The staff is always upbeat and happy, and the line goes fast. They opened a new location which has alleviated some of the traffic, but you should still try to go before 12. I've been many times, and will say that the quality is sometimes inconsistent. They had a period where I kept getting dry, hard rice, but they must have solved that problem because the past few times I've gone have all been great.

You choose your size first, then rice or salad bowl, then protein. I chose regular/large which is $8.50 (small is 6.50) with chicken in a rice bowl. My cousin tried the tofu. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. She sauced hers with medium hot and I chose extra hot. It was not deceiving, it's actually hot/spicy, also flavorful. Service was quick and friendly.

For the price, the taste and portion size are top notch. I've been to the Halal Guys in NY, and maybe because this is a store where they can keep fresh ingredients, but I felt this was much better. We had the Halal Chicken with rice combo plate, and the chicken was juicy and tender. I also loved the broad sauce selection, which again seemed a great improvement to the packaged sauce that the Halal Guys give you. Here you can douse your plate with bottles of hot sauce (medium or extra spicy), mint chutney, or garlic white sauce. All of them tasted fresh and delicious. The person working the cash register had some attitude when we were placing our order, so that would be the one thing I'd dock a star for. But luckily since it's a take and go place we didn't have to deal with too long.

The staff here is incredibly fast moving, but towards the end of the day the rice and meat start to taste a bit dry. All of the drinks are good here, but don't expect to get any refills. Don't even bother asking for water; one of the staff members told me that they could not even refill my cup with tap water "due to sanitary reasons"

I’ve been a long time customer and have always loved CNR as a low cost option for street-type food. However for what it is, it’s become way too pricy... $10 for a small with extra meat. This used to be $7. For me $10 is a bit too pricy to pay for food that’s ready in about 30seconds. Having said that, if you haven’t been before, it’s definitely worth it to try. The gyro is great and you must get the garlic sauce, it makes the entire experience.

Well I can't say it was everything I hoped for, but man did that garlic sauce save this review. When my party first arrived around 7 they said they were out of rice... seriously? It's in the name, you guys are responsible for 2 things, chicken and rice. I'm lazy and wasn't about to find another place to eat so i said screw it and got a salad. The portions were enormous, but not in a bad way, it's a good bang for your buck. So this garlic sauce, let me tell you, I have never had a more delicious condiment in my life. It was as if the lord of sauces orchestrated the fusion between heaven-like creamyness and rich, savory, garlic flavor. 10/10 for the sauce, 5/10 for not having one of the 2 things in the name of your store.

I have been there many times. Every time has been a great experience except the last time I was there they slopped humus all over my container and didn't clean it up, even when I complained. But the food is definitely worth it.

12/26/2018 - Update: Three stars removed. They charge for bags now if you want to eat at your office. Carrying hot sauce, a soda and a box is not easy in noon traffic in this part of Boston. Still some of the best hot sauce in Boston. Other than that, there aint much else here.

The best halal joint in town hands down. Plenty of food for your money, yummy garlic and medium hot sauce. Not much more to say. Grab a combo (beef/lamb gyro and chicken) and absolutely load that bad boy up with sauce. You won't be disappointed.
