REVIEWS OF Bistro du Midi IN Massachusetts

Christian Alexander

My company hosted a client/prospect dinner at Bistro du Midi last week and everything was perfect! The staff were friendly, courteous, and extremely accommodating. The food was exquisite in both flavour and presentation. The atmosphere and decor was expertly conceived. I would dine here again in a heartbeat!

Jay Gohlmann

Kronenburg beer glass shrunk for some reason. No longet the traditional glass. Why? Bartender measured out each glass like it was gold. Location is great. Sliding doors open to public garden.

Paul Malnarich

Great experience. We ate upstairs on my wife's birthday. Pleasant, not rushed and the menu - magnificent. Thanks

Sharon Palermo

Food was good, but my omlete was overpriced... it's just eggs people. However the breakfast spirits were amazing!

Brian Leonard

One of our favorites, but it has been a year or two since our last visit. Entrees - pork and halibut - and dessert - chocolate souffle - were delicious. Steak tartare was good but not the out of this world we remembered a few years ago. We were surprised how empty it was on a Saturday night. Worried about their future so hope they can do something to fill the seats again. A great place in Boston for French cuisine.

Aaron .Sliski

Great ambience, very friendly staff great attention to detail. Very attentive but not overly. I'm sure that this an isolated incident but my burger was cold when I got it. The fries were hot but the burger was not warm. I didn't bring it up with my waiter, but I really expected more from such an established place. My partner got the flat bread and the coliflour soup and they both looked really good. I have worked in many high end restaurants and I feel like this just shouldn't have happened.

John Mcdonald

Me and my wife went to the 2nd floor Valentine's special dinner. Very great service and amazing food. The lobster soup was the best i have ever had! Would definitely recommend.

Thomas McBroom

Not a good value.

Andrea Calhoun

Nice place for quality french food. Cool location to meet with coworkers. The place has a great feel to it. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.

Jerry Sager

Lovely room. Marginal service. The waiter served my duck under cooked and after sending the dish back to the kitchen returned my duck overcooked while my dinning partner had finished her meal. We were than told the kitchen had an issue with blue soufle bit was making another which arrived 30 minutes later raw. Clearly not a great evening but management call me to apologies for their off night . They failed to even suggest they would remove the soufle from my check. Boston is a great food town. Try another venue

David Yee

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Boston.

Angela von Dietrich

I had a delicious experience with the Filet but my husband had a terrible experience with the duck. It came severely under cooked and then when it came back it was severely over cooked. We ordered a soufflé in advance then the waiter came out to tell us it was prepared wrong and they had to do it again. When they brought it out the second time it was undercooked and watery. I want to give this place a good review but I just can’t.

Executive Chef Josue Louis brings the simple, clean and bold flavors of Provence to Boston. Having worked at Bistro du Midi since opening, Louis marries the culinary techniques of the Midi region in France with the seasonal New England bounty. The result is a refined yet approachable menu with dishes that surprise and delight the most discerning epicurean tastes.

Great food and amazing service

Mary

Wonderful! There was three of us in our party and we each had a different fish dish They were all lovely. I had a monkfish that was divine.

Bryce Caster

Delicious dinner! Service, food and drinks were all delicious. If you're looking for delicious French food, this is a great place.

Julie Fawcett

Great food and service. Cute, quaint and delicious food. The tuna nicoise salad was perfect on a warm summer night.

William Toll

Great wine, food and service.

Rex McKeon

Bistro du Midi is a cute little spot located right on Boston's Public Garden. They have a more formal section upstairs with it's own dinner menu, and a more casual bistro on the first floor with it's own 'bistro menu.' I've only sat in the bistro, but have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. All were great. Contemporary French cuisine is pleasant. Not out-of-this-world or anything, but really good! Burger is just okay, fries are really good. Great mussles and steak!

Andrew Dai

Very solid french restaurant. Upstairs is thoughtfully decorated with great views of the park and a cozy and warm feel. Couches are super cute. Very romantic too. Staff is extremely polite and friendly with smiling faces all around. There is even a glass window where you have a great view of the kitchen and even the cooks were super smiley. Food was great. Light and flavorful and balanced, with unique accents that set this place apart. For instance, octopus appetizer was massaged or something, best octopus texture and flavor ever. Brussel sprouts were really good too. Duck dish with the cherries had a really great sauce and the cherries were amazing. Halibut was light and the base was delicious. Souffle was really light and fluffy and the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Highly recommend. Top 2 restaurants in Boston in my book.

My family and I had an excellent dining experience. We had the Winter Tasting Menu, paired with a French Pinot Noir. Everything was prepared to perfection. Our server Tyler was great -- very attentive and knowledgeable.

Alexander Michaud

We got the chance to visit during restaurant week, and we got a true taste of fine dining. I can't express how perfect the meal was, from the food, to the atmosphere, to the service. AND it's adjacent to the beautiful Boston Public Gardens. Treat yourself for dinner here sometime: it will be a memorable night.

Gerrit van Schalkwyk

Second visit, again a really excellent meal - definitely offers a unique culinary experience, service is excellent, and it has romantic ambience. This time, had two appetizers and was more than full by the end. Look forward to going back :)

Rishik Jariwala

Great food and ambience. Nice location across from the public garden. Service was a little slow even though they were not super busy.

Francis Duffy

Elegant.....trendy...... upscale eatery across from the beautiful Public Garden..... great food served well by a professional staff.

Beth Schrager

Delicious Americanized French inspired food.

Ki Arnould

I was looking for something light and fresh for lunch in between meetings and discovered Bistro du Midi. There's a fuller restaurant and bar upstairs, but I stayed at the bar downstairs & stuck to their "Cafe" menu. Loved it! Molly was an amazing bartender who provided helpful suggestions and descriptions. I went with their special live scallop (think French sushi) and fried artichokes. So tasty. Environment was quietly upscale, but not stuffy. Might go back again today...

Laura Maxi

Perfectly cooked octopus. Lamb tartare which was so tender it melted in your mouth as well as their duck. All choices were recommended by the Waiter who was awesome! Would definitely like to go back to try their lunch or brunch menu.

Richard Weeks

Fantastic food and service! This picture was of our fillet mignon dinner that was split between my wife and I. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Fred Hahn

The food and presentation was outstanding. The service was excellent.

Rob Cherubino

Fantastic staff, food and service. Can't beat the view to the common across the street.

Josh Mazza

Terrific casual upscale bar dining. More formal setting upstairs to enjoy the fine fare. Prices aren’t cheap but it’s always worth it. Try their cocktails, the bartenders are outstanding.

Alyssa Holmes

This was a very cute bistro tucked in a beautiful building across from the public garden. I didn’t sit inside, but the outdoor seating is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. I enjoyed the Midi Crush cocktail while I waited for a bistro burger and a side of asparagus and fiddle heads. Everything was well prepared, and presented eloquently. I recommend this restaurant if your looking for something a step above the normal fare. It’s a little pricier if you are not used to the city, but I think it’s worth the experience. I’ll easily go back.

Christopher Riello

All around excellent experience. Had the tasting menu and each course was delicious and good portions. Wines by the glass were great.

Irina Sarah Cueni

Elegant place - great raspberry and chocolate soufflés

Alessandra Kellermann

Ambiance - 5 stars. We were downstairs and excited to sit outside enjoying a gorgeous Boston day . I should have chosen the delicious looking salads because the charcuterie board was disappointing except for the meats. The bread should have been left untoasted. Bloody Mary- 5 stars. Dessert was disappointing as we ordered Raspberry Lychee and the cake

Gladine Simp

Perfect place for a romantic date. Came here with my boyfriend for valentines day and had a wonderful time.

Dave W

Excellent as always, chill atmosphere, awesome food/cocktails and awesome service. Have never had a bad meal there.

rembrant q einstein

Great service. Food was delicious (a bit on the pricey side). Server was knowledgeable about the menu, cocktail list and wines. Everyone was pleasant efficient and responded quickly to our reqests. Our seating request was filled promptly and we had a nice view. Definitely worth it. Will go again.

Adam Fullerton

Nearly perfect! ... Though the table bread left something to be desired in terms of flavor

Copie Harris

Elegant and welcoming. Great food!

If you like hambergers, should go and try. Fries are wonderful too. Also flatbread is good choice for appetizer too

Andree Thibault

Upscale. Nice atmosphere.

SAITAH ALAJMI

Very poor staff ! The waiters had a very dry attitude ! Food is average

Rick McMullen

Good food and good service

Federico Volpi

Great food and excellent wine selection. The dining room can be quite busy

Julia Adams

Excellent food! A few glitches with service but waitress was excellent and attentive making up for it. They even allowed me to trade fries for beet salad for a small fee. Open air seating on the patio is lovely. Ambiance is comfortable. Even suitable for well behaved children. comfy pillows on the bench along the wall. Feel is comfortable

Matthew Avis

The second time I have gone there for a tasting and I can't recommend it enough! Every dish is better than the last. One of Boston's finest restaurants. The staff, service and ambiance were exceptional.

Kumi Saito

Get the outdoor seats if you can. Service is great. Food is good. My friends love their food but not my best choice of French in town. But good. Really good.

Nimit Shah

I love it when proper sit down restaurants pay respect to the area that they are located in and not just present the food the way it's presented where its made. So I was pleasantly surprised when the fries at Bistro Du midi were served the way they would do at a local fast food restaurant. Now, why we ate fries at an upscale french restaurant? That's because sadly this place doesn't have a lot of veg options! The quality of the food was amazing and so was the quality of the service. We loved the food and the desserts and had a really nice experience overall! Definitely try the beet gniocci over there!

James Norton

Delightful lunch - we look forward to coming back for dinner soon. Food was excellent. The service even better. A must stop if you're going to swing through Boston Common.

Colin A R Adams

A great spot for a quite lunch after a busy morning at a conference. Delicious food, and professional as well as courteous service.

Mary Ewell

Nice music and atmosphere, very chill. Mussels were good but a few too many didn't open. Fries were great but the aiolo was a bit too garlicky for my sister but not me! Overall a great place for Sunday brunch.

Anchisa Pongmanavuth

Really beautiful restaurant and food. Everything tastes good (escargot, monkfish, pear tart) but not amazing. Terrific service.

Mark Victor

One of the best tasting menus I've had recently. The decor leaves something to be desired, especially if you're planning a romantic date but the food and service exceeded expectations.

Alexis Flowers

Beautiful restaurant with excellent food. Their homemade pasta is scrumptious

Lawrence Buchman

Great food and service

Brad Hines

Great ambiance. Fantastic food. A fun seat to get is the chef's seat–a giant window looking into the kitchen (upstairs seating.) Fantastic cocktails.

Guanying Deng

Diner is much better than lunch! If you’re trying to save money here, you won’t be happy with the quality of food. My experience in this place is, taste improves as price improves

R. Joshua Angell

Really nice place for a pricey midday snack on our "splurge" day in the city. Midi crush is a great drink but the crushed ice hurt my sensitive teeth, I hate using a straw :( Beet gnocchi was a bit overcooked but the flavor was on point - almost wanted to order another! (Note: we had one order split into two plates so my photo is technically 1/2 the actual dish contents)

Michael DiBona Sr

Outstanding had lunch at the bar ! Service is impressive

Christian Noel

Great service and options. Gets busy but well worth the wait.

Carlos Gutierrez

Excellent food, chic decor, very close to the fabulous Newbury st.

Tibor Vais

Nice spot for lunch or dinner

Damian deSilva

Awesome food

Michael Rabadi

It was plated very beautifully. The ingredients were also quite fresh. However it wasn't very exciting or flavorful. Certainly not worth the price.

Bob B

Love this restaurant. First ate here 6-7 years ago. Always good to come back when in Boston. Food is delicious. And it has a great wine program too. Super convenient to the four seasons

Karen Shadbegian

Went in late Saturday afternoon for an aperitif and service was extremely slow but between shifts, no big deal. Told only had the bar menu available, just a handful of items, no big deal. But then an immigrant family got seated next to us complete with blankets, backpacks, 4 year old with milk bottle and diaper wipes laid out on the table. They were given the complete menu since the bar menu didn't have any good choices for the kids. Really? But that was okay until they all abandoned their table to traipse around the restaurant and kids started playing in the revolving door with mother and grandmother alongside blocking the entrance. Hostess at the door did not say a word nor did the waitstaff or MANAGER! Of course we all know that kids get hurt playing in revolving doors and so of course they did, only then to return to their table screaming and crying. Then back to the door! Customers, including us, had to get them the hell out of the door (where the kids were literally sitting in the sections) in order to get out or into the restaurant. This went on for a good 20-30 minutes. No one in the restaurant could believe this "show". Everyone was watching, distracted from their dinners. Are you kidding me Bistro Du Midi? You can't respect your clientele enough to keep control over the restaurant? Is this being "politically correct"? No, just STUPID!!!

A Bother

Hands down the best French Bistro in Boston. From lunch to dinner all of their dishes are perfect. Recommend the Niçoise Salad or Bistro Burger for lunch and everything on the dinner menu will not disappoint. The service is always amazing and they are very knowledgeable about wine selections. Great casual date place and also perfect for older kids.

Christina Mitchell

Beautiful and tasty brunch place- really nice staff. I called after church and they were able to get me in within 30 minutes. Accommodated my friend who cannot consume gluten with kindness. One of may favorite experiences on my bachelorette trip to Boston!

Dan Ebbutt

Went here for Restaurant Week while on business. Food was amazing and service was impeccable. I wish my wife was with me to enjoy it. If I ever come back I will definitely be bringing her. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank you for the great experience.

Sean Mallon

Excellent staff and cuisines ,awesome desserts

Lauren I

Delicious food, good service. Love the views of the public gardens. Make sure to get the pancakes at brunch! Just incredible. Only critique-it would be nice if coffee came in slightly larger cups or if waitstaff brought it around more frequently.

David Bihari

Dumped by "partner" but proceeded from Beacon Hill to this great cafe bar restaurant on the edge of Boston Common. Feeling needy I ordered the living fibrillating scallop - amazing, so creamy and so alive - then 6 oysters (the Walrus and the Carpenter) and then the "crudo" tuna and salmon! Amazing service by the owner - full of tips! Highly recommended

Jane Barrs

An upscale French dining experience with a beautiful view of the commons.

Lance Miller

This is my first review ever, so you can imagine how strongly I feel about it. I was walking by last week with my wife and her friend, figured we'd grab a drink at the downstairs bar. We ended up staying for over 3 hours and having dinner. Tommy and Nick make quite a team....We felt like we were hanging out with close friends, it wasn't stuffy at all. We ordered a few courses to share...We asked to get wine paired with each course, and Tommy was spot on... He also kept us laughing the entire time we were there. The food was amazing. Oysters were perfect, the presentation on the raw apps was gorgeous... These guys are professionals. They know their product and most importantly, they really know how to make your visit memorable. They basically set a new standard for my wife and I to judge other restaurants by.

Mahesh Shanmugam

Great place for professional and family dining experience.

Olivier Pouille

Top of the line French restaurant, meals are exquisite. Pleasant atmosphere with attentive waiters, and refined French cuisine.

Roman Boychenko

Very nice spot for brunch or dinner.

Catherine Vasquez

We went during restaurant so maybe is not the typical experience, some dishes were really good others not so great. I got the duck (outside of the fine out menu) and it was a bit hard, I love duck and had high expectations for a high end French restaurant. The lobster pasta was good. The clams and fish of the dine out menu were also good.

Bill Pai

Always superb, one of Boston's best restaurant s

Alex Jarnberg
