Good thing the food is delicious because the service is absolutely awful. It’s so bad, I can’t believe the supervisor isn’t aware, or maybe they just don’t care. My advice is to take control and yell at someone to get you a cup for your drink because no one will come to you and ask if they can help you with something. This place has just slowly gotten worse over the years.

The food was really good and the guy that took our order was really nice. However, there were 2 younger females working that were screaming at each other (knowing they had customers dining in). The older female employee told them to quiet it down but they continued to raise their voice until she made them clock out and leave. It made the experience very uncomfortable.

New to the area and finally got to experience the famous A&W Rootbeer , a cheeseburger, and one of the best tasting milkshakes I have had in awhile. My grandchildren loved it, they even got a free icecream. Very friendly owners were onsite, which you never see anymore. They really lived up to there name! Will be making it a tradition.

I have always loved A&W since I was a child. I am grateful that this location is still here. They have great root beer floats! They also have a good menu, including salads and gluten free buns. The prices are reasonable. The owner works there and is always friendly. It's very comfortable.

Highly consistent quality of food preparation and extremely delicious. Everything is cooked fresh to order. The staff is polite, helpful, and attentive. The burger patties are fairly small, so a double isn't a problem for most hungry patrons. Perfect option for a family treat and a must visit each summer season when they are open.

Both the people that comment are idiots, so take that into account. Directly below me said they need to work on their nostalgia, but it's been the same since I was 5 and I'm in my 30's. Isn't that the definition of nostalgic? Two down from me. ...... you went to A&W and ordered a COKE float? You just failed life sir.... yes it's a little dingy and old looking, just like burger joints of its time.... and it's a must every trip I take here. Keep those curds & frosty glasses of root beer coming!

FIVE STAR FOOD!!!!!! 1 OR 2 STAR SERVICE! There's not many A&Ws around so I guess you have to suffer the unprofessional and rude waitstaff for the food?! So I guess you have to decide if dealing with rude young children staff or the one bitter older woman (maybe manager?) Last time a larger gentleman behind me ordered two rootbeers and she replied "Diet?" The guy just stood there stunned Is worth it?...... Sometimes (like today) it's not. Smh it's a shame. Could be such a better experience with more adept customer service and you weren't meant to feel like an inconvenience.

These bad reviews are crazy. I go to this place often! My food is always fresh and hot. Always so good. Mouthwatering. The stuff is friendly, sweet and care. They smile when they greet people. My favorite food is Coney Tuesday. Their Coney dogs are only .99 cents. The cheese Curds are amazing too. I tell people to go there all the time!

Got a couple of hot wieners, all the way. Pretty sure I ended up with a slight case of food poisoning. Was sick for 2 days. This place used to be so good, one of my favorites, but they seem to have gone downhill recently. Not sure why. Service is still good at least.

Not good. Avg wait time. Desk girl was Pleasant greeted with a nice smile. Seem to be way over work. Food came out was told all I need is the root beer float in the ice cream 10 minutes later notice the same girl taking more orders with no help had to get somebody else to complete the order. Weiners were tough and old. Grilled chicken was Tiny and they put a half inch thick tomato slice with it. I mean literally it was half inch thick it was twice as thick as the piece of chicken. Probably won't be going back

Yeah it's pricey, yeah they are cash only. But it is an experience that is pretty much all but gone. The other fast food place exist but there is something special about A&W. They do have a covered area if you don't want to eat in your car and an ATM there if you forget to bring cash. It's worth experiencing it. They close during the winter season but spring to fall its a nice place for a quick bite.

We usually make a trip out of coming here since we don't live very close to Zanesville. I have tried most of the A&W's in Ohio (there aren't many) and this one has been consistently generous with the Freezes and the Food has 9 times out of 10 been hot and fresh. I hope they continue because this is a last bastion for fast food being a treat.

It's fast food. I saw the BEST BURGER" signs and hoped for something quick but good. I got something quick. I'd hardly call it a great or even good burger. They had a lot of novelty things like root beer floats which I can't speak to but the burger was almost the same as a burger king burger.

I love this place it has a subway shop and a a&w shop as well and it aldo had dip n dots ice cream and me and my kids love then and we cant find yhem anywhere here in wheeling....it is my half way stop for gas and drinks between colmbus and wheeling...and the gas is pretty reasonable it was like 2.67 a gallon but over all the place was good The Callaway Family

I'd stick to the beverages. The chicken tenders weren't too bad, but the chilli cheese fries OMG! It was like eating nothing but salt. I couldn't finish it. I've never been to any restaurants with this name so being from out of town on business, I thought I'd try something new. Boy that chilli cheese dogs must be really salty. After all those founders came up with the root beer part, they just threw in the food, obviously that's not their talent. Stick to root beer or put it in that salty chilli.

If you are going to be a cash only establishment then put to a sign that states so. I should not be forced to used an ATM within the restaurant with no visible signage anywhere. The girls within the restaurant seemed as though they hated their jobs and did not want to be there. The food was well made and root beer always good. Atmosphere is what made this rating.

Had a double bacon burger with everything! Tasted just like it was made on the grill! Very rustic looking from the outside! Looks really awesome! Can't miss it even if you were driving blind! Been going here since I was a kid back in the 90's. I remember the carhop service and the amazing root beer. It was always a great adventure for us kids when we went for a family outing. This time I took MY father to eat and it had a similar feeling. Carhop was still available, but we sat in the picnic table area. Brought back a lot of good memories and the root beer was just how I remembered it. Cash Only still, but there is an ATM on site for convenience. Why would you stop up the road at the 'Other Place' when you can stop at A&W and relive your childhood.

A&W is the best! My boyfriend and our family members make more than a few trips there every year. They do close down during the winter which has all of us very sad for a few months. And their prices are kind of on the higher side but its worth it. Its like a DQ but way way way better! If you go and your a mozzarella lover make sure you try the cheese curds!!!

The food is excellent. True, classic Americana. Service is great and the atmosphere is also great. I thought the prices were a little high, but you definitely get higher-quality for paying the higher price. They offer some burgers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. They also have a selection of fried seafood and seafood rolls which is nice. There is lots of parking and is conveniently located on the main road. I'd say if you're in the mood for something quick this is definitely the place you want to go.

price is a little on the high side but well worth it if the food is cooked right.. buger was bernt on the edges fries are cold not the best food I have had there service was good if I was doing this rating another day I would have gave it a five stars when my meal was perfect so depending on the day you may be happy knowing that is the only reason I did not put one star

Have not been to or found an A&W restaurant in so long that I forgot how satisfying their root beer floats were as well as their food. Enjoyed their chili dog as well as their hamburger and fries. The service was exceptional. It's a drive up where the server comes over to take your order and places it on your window. They also give you the condiment server not packets of ketchup etc. and serve your float in a mug.

A wonderful experience! This is traditional American food at its best. I chose a hamburger with ketchup, relish and mustard, and chilli cheese fries. Delicious! I washed it down with a root beer. The service was faster than expected too. Those national food chains don't come close.

I had a bad experience for the last and final time at A&W. My order of 2 bacon cheese burgers meals with fries and large root beer floats came to $29... I had to use the atm to withdraw $40. I was charged $42.75, an additional $2 then another $1! The food is not good, after several times of having their fast food, I would not recommend this place. Similar quality as McDonald, double the price.

I don't come here often, but every time I've been here, the staff has just been very rude and unpleasant, and very slow. Just like being a kid again. I had the classic root beer float with soft-serve ice cream (served in a glass mug). There is also an option for hard ice cream, if you are weird. The burgers and hot dogs are delicious, and I can't wait to go back for another meal. There is an option to dine outside, and it is a seasonal restaurant, so it is best to check if they are open if you are planning to go after Labor Day.

I came over the weekend and was told my car “was too loud” and the girl working the drive thru had no respect and shouldn’t be working there if she can’t do her job as working with the public.She was bobbing her head and smiling and was just uncalled for. I like the food but it's cash only and they don't tell you until you are at the front of the line. Then you have to go to their ATM that then charges you $2.75 in addition to what your bank charges you for using someone else's ATM. This really irks me because it is so easy nowadays to get a card reader that can attach to a company phone or something. There are few reasons to do only cash.

The food is good. The only bad thing about thr place is that it only accepts cash. The ATM they have inside is very slow and doesn't for for some cards not to mention the 3 dollar fee. The lady was rude. We ate there at the tables and then asked for a refill and she denied us any refills. Said we'd have to buy another drink which is the size of a medium at McDonald's for the price of 2.97!!! So I asked for an ice water and she charged me a quarter for some water from the tap!!!!! Large seasonal hamburger joint that is just the way you want a large seasonal hamburger joint to be. The food is waaay better than your local Mickey-D's with everything made to order. They have the usual menu that doesn't disappoint washed down with classic A&W rootbeer in heavy frosted glass mugs. You can eat in or order to go in which case the mugs morph into paper cups. Owned and run by a gal who was probably on the Cape when the Pilgrims showed up she keeps the army of Bulgarian college kid worker bees humming right along so there's seldom much of a wait. Plenty of parking and outdoor tables or inside (air-conditioned) booth seating. This is a great place to bring the kids for a burger and fries... Hey, who ordered the float with extra ice-cream?

Can't believe the horrible experience I had today (July 2018) with one of the cashiers. We went at 11:30am, before the lunch rush, so they weren't really busy yet. The cashier couldn't have been more inconvenienced by having to perform her job there. Eye rolls were plenty (we had one question about caffeine in the root beer), but we were otherwise quick and efficient about ordering. When handing me my change, she dropped it on me, and didn't apologize. We were incredibly offended. I have never had such rude and awful service. We won't be back.
