Our favorite local barbecue restaurant. Everyone in the family loves the beef brisket sandwich, it's melt in your mouth tender and all of the side dishes are great. If you are ever in the area this is a place you have to visit.

The food was great, I have no complaints about that. But I gave it 4 stars because my order was wrong at first with regards to one of my side dishes. They did correct it but only after they look at the original order slip.

Heard a lot of good reports of this place so decided to try it out. Place is clean and quaint. We were doing a late lunch/early dinner, so got there around 3pm and the place was practically empty, but the person who helped us (probably the owner?) was very friendly and helpful. I got a steak bomb sandwich, made with brisket, and it was very good, maybe just half-star behind the same item I get at our other area favorite place. Wife got a BBQ chicken sandwich and was also very happy with her food. Service was reasonably fast, especially considering that they were in their mid-afternoon lull. All in all, very good, I'd go back again and try more of their menu. I'm a tough grader, I don't like to give 5 stars every time, but if I could I'd maybe give this place a 4 and a half!

Back in 2013, my husband and I were on a road trip and we stopped here by chance. We were wowed and have never found a bbq place we liked so much since. Six years of trying barbeque in the two states we have lived in addition to a third state we visited and had bbq, and nothing has been so divine. We hope to make it back one day to revel in the glory of this delicious, inspiring bbq.

We had American BBQ cater our end of summer cookout, and they got rave reviews from us and from our guests. We had 300 people and needed steady food service for three hours. Lee and his team showed up and set up with barely any need for us, and then kept the food coming at a perfect rate so nothing got cold. Everything was delicious. The kids were particularly enthusiastic about the Mac and cheese, which had to have been made according to someone’s grandmother’s secret recipe. Meanwhile, Devin and Maggie kept all of the adults happy with American BBQ’s awesome beer truck. On the front end, Joan and Michelle worked with us to plan for just the right amount of food and beverage. This was the first time we have done an event of this size and not ended up with a ridiculous amount of leftovers, but nobody left hungry. Perfect planning, clearly based on long experience. Five stars for certain!

We had American BBQ cater a recent graduation party - the food was fantastic as always, and stayed warm through our entire four-hour event. The portions are generous, they do all the set up, and provide everything you need - dishes, wet-naps, etc. Our guests raved about the food. Will definitely use them again.

eaten there many times. pulled pork and pulled chicken are always awesome. jamaican chicken with pineapple curry mayo is awesome. cowboy steaks are awesome. really good cornbread, moist and sweet. I like the variety of bbq sauces, you can try a little of everything. Pecan pie is a must try. Key lime pie is good too. love the building, I like the weird variety of music they play. there's usually only 1 cook and 1 other person taking orders-meal prep-table cleaning, so service can slow down now and then. especially when they get a big order

I have eaten at the American BBQ many times, and have had them cater parties for me, too. My favorites are the pulled chicken, and the corn bread (the best I've ever had, and I've tried a lot). My guests RAVED about the catering, and many asked for the owner's name and number. Thank you, American BBQ!

Basic local BBQ. Quality and flavor have been consistent on every visit for years. Sauces are on the sweet side with good flavor. Alcohol selection is limited but has enough variety to meet the need. I recommend the dry spice rub wings. Could sit and eat those for hours.

I had the chicken and my wife got a mixed platter with pulled chicken and brisket. All three were really good. The cornbread was also good, but the side dishes were not very good. Some of the BBQ sauces were decent, but unorthodox flavor combination wise. Overall, I have to say its OK, but I wouldn't go back unless I lived nearby and wanted BBQ but didn't want to drive too far.

This is a classic rib joint. It's been in this location forever, and on weekends the lines can be long to get in. Decorated with any and all manner of pig memorabilia - the more plasticky the better! Food is good and quantities are huge. Service is on paper plates with plastic utensils. You order and pay at the counter and the food is brought to your table or your name is called.

This Rowley location trumps the Beverly location in atmosphere and is VERY DELICIOUS. The only difference is the atmosphere. At this Rowley location I feel like I am in somebody's home enjoying a great meal. I highly recommend the ribs or pulled pork. The corn bread is excellent. Make sure to try any special BBQ sauce they have out, I have not been disappointed yet. They also have a great beer selection and make a good margarita.

Friday night, cold ribs. How I get served cold ribs on a Friday night is beyond me. They where not heated through and cold by the bone. They where not raw, but cold. Obviously kept cold (I hope) for food safety reasons then reheated. Look, I get it, I was a line cook and worked in the food industry for many years as a young man. I don't expect to walk in and have a slab of ribs that just finished smoking as I walk through the door. But the execution of reheating the ribs to proper temp was poor. I've had better ribs at Chilis' and dear I say Applebee's. My son had a cheeseburger that he enjoyed and my wife had the chimichanga. She thought it was fine. Nice clean place, and they have trivia cards at each table to pass the time while you wait for you food. As with most places, I'll give it another shot to be fair and if my experience is better I'll let you know.

Always have a great food experience at American BBQ. The best corn bread I've ever had. Sometimes I go just for that. Coleslaw just like Grandma used to make. Love the atmosphere. Wish the big barrel of peanuts was back, but the self serve popcorn is almost as good.

Great place to take the kids! In the right season there are even a couple picnic tables outside. There's plentiful seating inside and the window service is efficient - we've never had to wait looking for our food. Love that they always have fresh popcorn for free to give the kids (and us) a snack while we're waiting. They also have a toy bin, something my kids always look forward to.

Should have known better when I was the only one there. Pull pork sandwich with cornbread and potato salad. Terrible bbq sauce selection. Potato salad might as well have been made at Costco. Flies landing on my food as I ate. I didn't finish half of it and the girl just gave me an excuse about the flies that there was demo going on out back.

Such a hidden gem! Incredible options for food allergies! Consistently amazing BBQ with outstanding customer service. I have gluten, dairy, soy allergies and there are many options I can get. However, the pulled pork is so consistently on point that Ive hardly ever veered away from that. The staff is incredibly friendly and aware of how to handle allergies. Great ambiance, paper towel rolls hanging under the end of each table and cool old southern decor all over the place. I drive around an hour a week just to hit this spot, can't recommend enough!

Excellent BBQ, cute location. It's counter service with a bunch of tables and lots of bbq sauce choices. The ribs and brisket are tender and juicy. In my opinion it needs a little of the sauce as not much of a seasoning rub but absolutely delicious! We ordered sliced brisket but it was shredded. Still tender and very yummy. Southern greens were best I've ever had. Dirty rice really isn't dirty rice but a chicken flavored moist rice that was very good. Bbq beans a bit too sweet and soft but ok and green beans were frozen I believe.
