REVIEWS OF Allston Diner IN Massachusetts

Matthew Boyd

The vegan options are very good, but the non-vegan fare is just average. The service was helpful and friendly. If you go, bring your vegan friends - they'll be happy.

Stacy

Had the chicken and cornbread waffle, it was awesome. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The place was nice and cozy. The staff was polite and helpful. Prices are quite reasonable.

Audra Dunivan

Clearly this restaurant has changed ownership. The quality has gone way down. This used to be one of our favorite breakfast places, but it has lost its charm and good food. Bring back the old breakfast potatoes! The new ones taste straight from the freezer.

Karen Villacis

Their chicken was amazing

Leonia Papetti

Management change. Used to go often. Place was owned by queer, punk folks and it showed in the quality and care. The place has become corporate- the food quality has gone down the tank, for starters. The bacon that used to be the best I had ever had has been replaced, and vegan options are consistently unavailable and appear to be being slowly phased out. Gone is the punk music, the weird films being played on screen, the sense of family, the t shirts on the wall. More than any of that, they use the chalkboard at the front as a generic advertisement for the restaurant instead of a chart to track donations to radical causes, as they used to. The servers, as always, are lovely, and if the disgusting capitalist pig of an owner who bought this place and tore out its soul tries to blame this on their servers and cooks, then that is a curse upon your name that I cannot imagine. Do not blame your employees for your corner-cutting and your pandering to your bottom line. I will almost certainly not be going back, with a heavy heart. Frankly, the only thing I think that could change that is bringing back the old food quality (bacon?) but FAR more importantly bringing back the culture, the love, the politics, the tattoos and the attitude.

Anthony Vickers

Huge portions. Vegan options and great vibe.

Marianne grandmont

Food good but expensive for one person an home frys aer potato chips in stead of real home frys + very expensive @ the place was not that clean up the over head vent had lots of stuff on it that could fall into your food very Dusty @ the walls bathroom but not clean the top of the ceiling was not clean stuff could fall into your food I would rate this place A 3+

Paolo De Nobili

Very good breakfast!!!!

Valerie Michel

Used to love this place! But went there recently, waited an hour for a plain waffle and omelet, and it wasn’t that busy. My boyfriend omelet was cold when it finally made it to our table and we literally had to remind the waitress and manager twice to check on our food. Sadly I don’t think we’ll be back.

Sherman Hanke

Fantastic breakfasts and really fun staff. I would eat their BBQ sauce on Birthday cake...maybe a birthday cake made from their INCREDIBLE cornbread waffle. I love this place!

Bent Strings Rusty Car

They have changed management or ownership or something. The diner has lost it's personality and so many of the little quirks that made it what it was.

Žygimantas Gūra

Everything was perfect! Food is really delicious and tasteful, the staff is very friendly. One of the best breakfast place in all Boston! Would come back!

swambui3

They changed the management and the quality has gone way done. Their chicken and waffles was my favorite dish. They now make an unseasoned chicken and waffles with large tenders. I guess great for bigger portions but I am surely disappointed and wont be returning. The service was ehh as well. Unorganized and slow service.

Ilya Toumilovich

Small, but very cozy and comfortable breakfast place. Food is consistently great, especially the fries - perfectly seasoned, not soggy and not burnt. The homemade beef hash or loaded waffles is a must-try. . Interior is somewhat quirky, with themes ranging from comic illustration on the table tops to abstract food-related paintings. Parking is not really a challenge. Highchair or booster seats are available. Waiting staff are hard working, friendly and fast. Worth a visit.

Bridgette Roberts

Amazing food. Vegan friendly teams. Their potatoes are delicious.

Denise Bates

Prior to the management switch, I would’ve given Allston Diner 5 stars, but it is now a hostile and unprofessional environment. Your hostess was seating parties at dirty tables, when she even bothered to seat them at all. During the hour that we waited there she was folding silverware while there were literally 5 tables open, a longer line than I’ve ever seen, and 3 parties waiting to put their names on the list. The waitress was rude, extremely slow, couldn’t get an order right, refused to take more tables when the hostess asked her, and apparently had no idea what she was doing, as she didn’t understand that customers usually like their water and coffee filled and don’t love it when they have to chase you down for every little thing. In one morning you managed to completely change my opinion of the restaurant.

Update summer '19: food, atmosphere and I'm assuming management changed. Objectively still decent, but nothing like it was before. Rating changed accordingly. From fall '18: Small place and longer waits, but the food is phenomenal. Great vegan breakfast options and delicious rosemary potatoes

Jia Roy

I had the weirdest experience—it says online the place is open until 3:00PM, I reached at 1:47 and was rudely turned away by the hostess, who claimed that the kitchen is closed. Generally, I am very flexible but seeing that there are empty seats and someone went after me and was seated(I waited outside for sometime) really irritated me. The food is cheap, and good.

Evan Reseska

My favorite diner in the Boston area. I lived in Allston for two years and this was the best spot to visit. Great comfortable family friendly atmosphere, the owner and staff are welcoming, friendly, and all have rad personalities. My favorite meal and usual choice is their cornbread chicken and waffles with a slice of pie after. Their pies are out of this world.

Weinbergdh

Great local spot for no frills quality breakfast

Jodi Finnagan

Foods great!! Stopped in first time and fell inlove

Hannah Conlon

Great portions

Joey Prever

Friendly, delicious, great coffee, and the servers remembered us after only a visit or two!

Ian Leshin

Used to be one of our favorite brunch spots, but staff changes resulted in a huge drop in quality. They now allow more than four people at a table, but the food is not really worth the trip. I'd have recommended the chicken and waffles with bacon gravy that I used to love, but the last few times were disappointing enough to inspire this review.

Ulviyya Gasimova

Perfect place to be!!!

Brianne Hinchliffe

Cool punk mom's kitchen vibe. The food was delicious and fairly reasonably priced. The furniture could definitely use an update and the whole place could probably use a coat of paint but that's also part of the charm. Unfortunately there's only limited street parking which is a deterrent for us coming from Newton but it was worth the drive. We'll likely be back.

Josh Trubow

Allston Diner serves above average brunch items in a fun laid back diner atmosphere. The servers and most of the patrons are a bit edgy, and it seems like most people who go are regulars. This is a good thing, as everyone seems to be family. I generally order the breakfast sandwich which has a nice appetizing appearance. The bagel is nicely toasted, and the bacon and eggs are cooked appropriately. I also like their home fries, which come with most of the breakfast items. Expect to wait if you come on the weekend, this place is very popular.

Jonathan Bazar

Went for breakfast this morning, small cozy atmosphere. Peyton is a wonderful hostess and the food was amazing. Definitely going back next time we are up in Boston!!

Matthew Mcguire

Fried Chicken and Cornbread Waffles topped with homemade Sausage Gravy. BBQ Seitan! BBQ Beef Brisket on Texas Toast Topped with two Eggs (get it over easy). Homemade Biscuits! Smoked Collard Greens. wow.

Tuman WK

Small, busy Diner. Definitely for locals, I think we were there around 10:30-11:00 and we had to wait for a table (at least two other groups in front). Bench seat had a hole (missing spring?). Staff was freindly, but owners could invest in minor upgrades or replacements. I'm sure they could use the help of one of those TV shows to help fix whatever is going on in the background. No issues with food (one time visit), or staff. Just felt like nothing has been replaced since the original opening. But then again I am from Jersey and it's hard to compete with the Diner capital of America.

Austin Merullo

Nice place with a good variety of vegan and non vegan options. Would recommend for breakfast and lunch

Shelby Lewis

Have been coming here for years and loved it. Went for Mother’s Day and was incredibly disappointed - the new ownership brought new staff that were completely incompetent and rude. We waited 50 minutes for our food and was never once asked if we wanted more coffee. There weren’t any vegan options available, no one seemed to be bussing any of the tables, and the home fries were just potato wedges. Sad to see the best diner in Allston go downhill - I won’t be returning any time soon.

Laura B

Good food, nice portions. The place is usually crowded

Hannah Perkins

Ate here during my first trip to Boston, it was just my jam—chill, eclectic space. Really good chicken and waffles. House coffee was on the darker side which I really liked. I’m from St. Louis MO and these prices were totally reasonable. I’ll be back! It is small, so try to go during off-peak hours if you don’t wanna wait.

Jaime Kearney

This is a fun and funky little diner. Service was good and the food was good. They do have some different things on the menu, like cheesy grits. This is a place I plan on keeping in my weekend brunch rotation.

jack johnson

2 espresso’s 9$ thx for stealing us!

laney wunderli

Always amazing food! My only wish is that they made regular waffles instead of the corn ones for chicken and waffles... Has a weird aftertaste.

Netiwat phukhachee

Nice low key place to go for breakfast. Very nice service and the food is good!

Jaime Gillen

Cute and quaint diner with a vintage vibe. Breakfast came out quick and was very good. Service was fast and friendly.

Craig Williamson

Great food, kitschy decorations make it feel like home

Ian Grosfelt

Pretty standard diner. The home fries are very crispy and well seasoned

Drew DiSabatino

Nice, chill breakfast spot. Great vegan options if you're into it.

Noah King

Super cool diner, had a kinda punk feel to it in a fun way. Really well made diner favorites.

peter jackman

Best Fried Chicken Sandwich I have ever had!

Joshua Lawter

Honestly it really didn't live up to hype so that was the most disappointing thing. The service was the best thing. The food was quite mediocre and therefore quite disappointing. My eggs didn't look or taste diner/restaurant made they look/taste more like fast food eggs. The decor wasn't really "nostalgic" as other reviewers have said. Maybe just because it wasn't our style but definitely too alternative/hipster for us, and definitely too cold. That is why we give this restaurant 2 stars.

Nacho Carracedo

New management. All the charm is gone now, plus portions are smaller. This is basically a new place now even though they didn't change the menu. Won't be going there anymore.

Oliver Hayward

Management - you’re doing it wrong. This is your sign to go back to what made this place great. There is no need to continue these tactics for the sake of putting your own mark on the place.

Karen Bouquillon

Awesome food from Payton, friendly service from Dani and comfortable atmosphere. The chicken salad sandwich and home fries were fabulous. Can't wait to try their fried chicken/corn waffle/sausage gravy!!! The only problem is that it's a 2-hour drive from where I live :-)

Chris Meli

Friendly staff, good food, very small. Get there before 10am Sunday if you don't want to wait.

Julian Alberto

Good food and service, Andre was excellent.

Adrian Lankenau

Yes. Just, yes. I went for the first time this and was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the dedicated and hard working service, and the amazing food. Highly recommend the Corn bread waffle and fried chicken breakfast but really anything on their menu is fantastic. Also...the coffee is heavenly. I know I will be going back.

Johan Jimenez

Small neighborhood French restaurant. We were there for breakfast and had wonderful experience. We had French toast and eggs Benedict with salmon. Also order of French fries. The eggs were perfectly cooked so that yolk is melting. French toast with real maple syrup was delicious. Excellent fries. No experience for dinner service but my inclination is dinner will be great too.

Corey O'Connor

This place used to be incredible and I honestly preferred their food to Veggie Galaxy. However they have had a change in management and I would no longer recommend this place. Service was slow even though the place was empty, tables are dirty/sticky every time I have been there, and the potatoes are now identical to the ones the Sodexo cafeteria at my work sells.

Alexander Sivilla

Great food! Amazing service, really local and family feel to it. I had the monticristo and loved it. Solid playlist of music, and just overall an awesome place

David King

excellent breakfast joint - try the biscuits and gravy. small and crowded, they don't seat parties larger than 4 people

George Chao

Great food in an alternative decor. The dishes range from classic brunch to some southern offerings (biscuit and gravy, BBQ Briskets). The food comes out a bit slow, but always good quality and at a great price point. Would definitely recommend trying out.

Nok Nikeu

delicious banana buttermilk pancake with nutella! the price is good but the services was the best. it feels like you having breakfast at your bestfriend house after sleep over!

Melissa Burton

New management, photo is no longer representative of the food. Cholula is gone, replaced by on request mini red Tabasco. If anything, there should be more hot sauce options given the younger demographic here. Home fries are not discs anymore. Prices went up a little bit. Still fits in the $ category, but I paid like 20% more for the same thing I always got. A cup of coffee is $3 now, not free with a meal. No refill offered like before. Menu is cut in half, doesn't seem as vegan friendly. It wouldn't hurt to offer some off menu specials on a separate card. It feels like the new management wants this to be a different kind of place, but is stuck halfway between what it replaced and whatever it wants the new place to be.

Juhi Chaudhari

Great tasting food. I got a vegan dish and my friend had the fried chicken sandwich. Both dishes were amazing and filling!

Chris Ripley

I walked out of this place once before due to server indifference but the good food brought me back. This morning they opened five minutes late. When I got in I sat at the counter and was invisible. Took awhile to get coffee and then I waited to order (when I ordered my coffee I said I was ready to order). I waited some more as other people came in a placed their orders. Finally I just paid for my coffee and left. Both of the servers were unfriendly.

Max Maron

Attentive service and basic breakfast fare at a reasonable price. A perfect choice if you're craving a greasy spoon diner.

Michael Bossetta

Nice spot to visit for breakfast/brunch if you’re in the area. Interesting items on the menu, such as ‘cornbread waffle and fried chicken’ and ‘bbq brisket freakfast’ with fried eggs, home fries, and Texas toast. Going off the reviews here, I had the waffle and fried chick (with a side of white sausage gravy) and it was good! Fried chicken was on point, though I think I lost 2 months off my life - was worth it! Stoner rock playing in the background, would definitely recommend coming by for a breakfast that’s quite unique!

Louis-Emmanuel Martinet

My favorite place for pancakes (with blueberries), corned beef hash and other brunch food like fried chicken and corn waffle. Cool ambiance.

Alyson del Castillo

Same menu, completely different food. New management is definitely a downgrade. The tofu I had was funnily enough completely different from the other reviewer's, basically mush and appeared to be half Dijon mustard. I can't remember the last time I disliked food this much :( Everything in there had changed, gonna have to make the trip to Veggie Galaxy from now on..

Alex Barshevsky

I was there a few months ago before the management change n 2019 and it was a much better experience all around. Better service and better food. This past visit my bacon was too soft and the potatoes and English muffin were too crispy. The place gets extremely busy after 10 on weekends.

Dan R

This gravy is to die for... and the bagel sandwich is amazing. Get a bagel sandwich with a side of gravy for the patatos.

Dimitrios D

The Allston Diner is a pleasant enough "diner". I'm from New Jersey, the diner capital of the world, and it's hard for me to call this place a true diner. Sure, they offer breakfast items all day, but their menu is also about a quarter of the size of a true NJ diner's. Where's the Greek food section? Where's the Italian food section? Where's the turkey, stuffing and gravy with mashed potatoes? How about the flounder with artificial crabmeat and two sides? Why doesn't the owner have his black German luxury car parked outside the front in his own custom parking spot? See? I'm a little nostalgic for the real deal. Nonetheless, I can see the appeal if you're a vegan. This place does have an admirable selection of vegan items. And service was friendly and efficient. Finally, the food was decent to good. I tried the Harvard omelette wrap, which contained bleu cheese, mushrooms, scallions and bacon. I'd definitely order that again, and can safely recommend it. The side of oregano house chips were not bad either.

Brian Brimmage

Excellent breakfast, friendly service, great atmosphere. And particularly, they make some of the best pancakes I've ever had.

Victoria Peacock

The best place to take friends and family when we want to get a quick and easy breakfast together. The food is fantastic, environment is unique, I love it every time I go.

Dan Gauland

Good food friendly service in an Allston Rock City style

Kevin Rogers

Best biscuits and gravy in Boston!

Jason Libby

Very good french toast

Jennifer Brenner

Delicious food and good service

E S

Buttermilk pancakes and sausage. It was good and so was the price.

caleb young

Home made biscuits!

Zack Kennedy

My very favorite place to get food in Allston. The vegan BBQ is one of the best things I've tasted in my life.

Eric R

Outstanding cornbread waffles & chicken. Good coffee. Others enjoyed French toast & omelettes. Had to wait a while on this late Saturday morning, but glad we did. Comfortable diner vibe with kitschy ceramics & outstanding service.

John B

I take anyone who visits me in Boston to the Allston Diner. It is genuinely one of my favorite restaurants in all of Boston. Although it may be a little out of the way for some, it is totally worth the trip... The food is amazing, and you get a lot of it! This is a great place to visit if you're craving any typical American breakfast item: eggs, French toast, waffles, pancakes, corned beef hash, etc. The only possible downside is that it is a small space, so it fills up quick! Sometimes you may have to wait as much as an hour during peak times. But, it's totally worth it if you dont mind that.

Susannah Sudborough

AMAZING food. Very cool punk atmosphere with incredible artwork inside. Note that they’re so popular they won’t sit groups larger than four and you need to go before noon or you won’t make it in. Their vegan food is incredible too.

DatNiccaTrendz

A little crowded at the time I went (early Sunday morning/afternoon) but completely worth the wait! And the prices are amazing!

Jenna Erikson

I have been coming here sporadically for years. The new changes are a welcome addition in my opinion. There is a new vibe that seems more welcoming and certainly less negative. The food is actually better! Larger portions. There is an Italian trained chef that went around the room when I was there and asked how we liked the food. The place is also cleaner! There are some new tables and a bench built out.' I plan on coming more often now.

Lawrence Clifford

Bright and engaging staff, excellent food, classic Allston style. Dig it.

Kenneth Conca

Used to be one of my favorite spots to go in Allston for breakfast/brunch, until the staff proved to be the laziest and most unprofessional I’ve encountered in the area. Online shows hours of operation from 8 AM to 3 PM. Painted sign in window shows 8 AM to 2 PM EVERYDAY. We walked through the door at precisely 1:46 PM and were told by the laziest female hostess whose name I wish I had asked that they were closed and no longer seating. They were obviously not closed given the number of people still eating, and the abundance of open tables. At first I accepted her answer, only to walk outside and watch an individual walk in, speak to the exact same lazy hostess, and be seated. Literally within seconds of refusing me. I walked back in and mentioned that the sign outside indicates 8 AM to 2 PM everyday. She then explained to me that seating ends at 1:45 and the kitchen closes at 2. Even if her absurd excuse we’re correct, it’s the epitome of unprofessional to turn someone away within one minute of the alleged closing time. As someone who has experience working in the restaurant industry, I would not tolerate that kind of behavior towards any customers, let alone loyal, repeat customers. I will not be giving my business to this diner again until either the staff learns to conduct themselves more professionally or until the sign outside and the hours of operation online are made to reflect the same excuse your staff provided me. I will make sure that I let everyone know they can expect the same treatment.

Ciara Garcia

Super disappointed that my beloved Allston Diner home fries have been replaced by thick-cut potatoes that taste like they were frozen. This place has lost all its character, and taste - tables have been replaced, menus are different, portions are smaller. Reading the reviews it seems like these changes were brought about by new management. RIP Allston Diner :-(

uwais razack

A good breakfast spot. Seems to get very busy as it's quite popular, hence have patience both getting a seat and waiting for food to come. People are very friendly. We'll most likely return.

Corey Juarez

Change in management. Used to be my favorite breakfast spot in town. Used to be a super fun and hip place with personality (something very hard to find in Boston). Change the name of the place if you are going to change the the way you cook every item on the menu. The entire staff has been replaced as well. Sad sad.

Afran SwRv

Tried Allston Diner for breakfast since it's in the neighborhood. I was impressed with my vegan plate. My partner loved her waffles. There were several things on the menu that looked great and we will be back for sure. Staff was very friendly as well.

Don Lampert

Great, friendly staff. Vegan and vegetarian options. Hip vibe. Solid spot right outside of boston.

Serkan Otsuz

Its so unprofessional staff and to late

Kyle Richard

Awesome flavor and quality ingredients. Never disappoints.

Aaron Goldman-Henley

Absolutely amazing breakfast! Friendly staff and decent prices. Highly recommend!

Matt Hohrath

This is one of the worst experiences that I've ever had going out to eat. We ordered our food and sat there as we saw other customers arrive well after us, order there food, and get served. We sat there for over 45 minutes until we asked where our food was and they said they lost our order ticket. No apologies at all and zero effort to try to make it right - we just left at that point. I'm not one to complain but this service was atrocious and I will never be back. From what I've read in other reviews the food quality has dropped as well.

S DS

Great all-day breakfast spot! Excellent food! Excellent service!

Sarah Berkland

Disappointing experience considering we have gone here in the past with great food and great service. We waited almost an hour to be told our food ticket maybe got lost. We received no apology and will never be back.

John Reardon

Friendly, fast, great homemade corned beef hash!

Catelyne Farrell

h e c c @ the new owner

Zac Rosenblum

Vegan friendly. Interesting waffles. Overall... pretty good! But not my absolute favorite

Daniel Manning

Awesome breakfast spot for is always fresh and tasty. Vegetarian and vegan options available.

Loco Local

Not the dinner I was expecting I ordered a typical breakfast. Eggs, hash home fries and coffee First no complaints about eggs and hash But their own version of home fries wasn't of My Delight. Round and deep fried, kind of potato chips..... not for me Coffee it was a little to bitter for my taste Orange juice and pancakes were good. Service and seating was fast.

Sean C

The best breakfast place in town. Interesting decor. Nice people. Long waits. Get the BBQ brisket breakfast

Bethany Jolly

The servers here are quirky and fun, the food is delicious. Has great vegan options. Lines down the block on weekends.

Donald Long

Small place but enormous flavors. We enjoyed the home fires. They we're flaoverd with rosemary. That was the first time my wife ate all her home fries lol. But the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Food was amazing we will visit again next time we are in Boston.

Marques L. A. Garrett

Great place for some vegan pancakes. Decent service

Max Schletter

A clean lively restaurant on an early Saturday morning with several steps that one of my cohorts almost tripped over. It's also important to get here earlier as opposed to later in the breakfast rush, the line did get long quickly. The meal was delicious and the side home fries were decent.

Aedan Quinn

Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing everything. Its why I start my weekend off here.

Heather Linton

My partner and I used to have breakfast at Allston Diner every other weekend (if not more). Since the management and staff changed we gave it a chance and it was even more disappointing than we had anticipated. The atmosphere was totally different. There was annoying pop music playing, the fun tables were gone, the walls were empty, and the new staff seemed totally lost. It's obvious that the new management is cutting corners wherever possible: the pancakes and omelettes are half the size, the cheese grits are watered down, and the bacon is not the same good quality. And the home fries are now thick-cut french fries. So sad. We sadly won't be going back.

Kenneth Rouse

The best food an service collard greens r the best

SJ M.

Hidden gem! Vegan options are super tasty!

George McKenna

Excellent breakfast experience!

Gregory Gould

Tiny space, and the seats and tables were kind of shabby, but the food was good quality, fresh, and interesting. Wait staff was attentive and a little quirky. The place has a lot of charm, just don't expect luxury for anything but your taste buds.

Hermann N.

Was there today for lunch. Great staff and very welcoming. The food was very delicious!

Laura Tringali

There was a hair cooked into my pancakes.

Kelly Gollobin

Love this place. Funky and friendly. And the food is delicious.

Tom Dattilo

Small but fantastic!

Corey Taylor

Had the brisket with two eggs over medium and Texas toast it was great

Phill M156

Everything is good, from the rueben sandwich, crispy chicken sandwich with collard greens.

Abigail Moore

Always a wait on the weekends but always worth it.

Dave K

I ducked in here for a quick bite and was well pleased with the food and the service. I only had the biscuits and gravy, a dish that should be done well and it was. There seemed to be a good few vegan options as well

Jerry close

Great classic diner fair and nice specials.

Shawn Jin

Best service. They remember regulars, which is very important to me when I used to go. Great solid American diner atmosphere with authentic all day breakfast offerings.

Matt Knoecklein

This place is awesome. The food is delicious and affordable. Long waits on weekends, but it's worth it.

Sara Robinson

Good music & relaxed atmosphere. I like normal-sized portions so I really enjoyed being able to almost clear my plate!

Lior Hirschfeld

The venue is a little crowded, but it has great food and a nice atmosphere.

Jenny Choi

Cute décor, good service. Was excited to try their chicken and waffles but can't say I was all too impressed unfortunately. Worth checking out for the interior alone.

Whitney Sands

Heart healthy diner food. A great hidden gem of Allston.

Alexandra Sweeney

They’ve gone under a change in management and has totally gone downhill in everything except the food. Service was pretty bad considering the place was half full- we had to repeat orders, nobody checked how our food was, no water or coffee refills, and basically no conversation. New manager was just hanging out on his phone the whole time with a sketchy orange juice in a water bottle. The food is still great, but everything else about this place that made it a weekly go-to has gone.

Maureen Boggie

Delicious food, warm welcoming and fun decor

Mike Johnson

Incredibly delicious food, big portions! Really neat acclectic place, I highly recommend it!

Jackson Rodriguez

Great food, great service! Chill atmosphere. Tables are cool to look at. Everything is clean. No rude waitresses like in some diners. Love this place!

Lady Chyna

I have never sat down in this place so this is based off the food I've ordered. They only have some vegan options, I've had the BBQ breakfast and The Ultimate vegan breakfast which are both great The vegan pancakes were average to me. What I had was good tho

sphennings W.

Some of the best breakfast food in the area. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends. People will be lined up waiting for their chance to get at the homemade hash, friendly staff, and quirky atmosphere.

K M

New management has lead to unfortunate wait, menu changes, drop in food quality, and an incredible tone shift. No longer a reason to come back to the neighborhood.

Frank Maddalone

Uncomfortable wooden booths, not well portioned ladle of sausage gravy on medium hard lukewarm (at best) biscuits. 3 stars is being generous.

Josiah Philbin

Its was great!

Salina Allen-Sharpp

9/21/2018 - Really good, creative and well seasoned dishes! Waitstaff are delightful and courteous. The diner atmosphere is very relaxed, a great laid back breakfast chill spot. The only drawback, if you're not here early, the wait can seem long ( the line is usually out the door), but when the food is good, you don't mind the wait. If you arrive close to closing and people are waiting (outside) to be seated, there's a good chance you won't be seated.

Joshua Landrau

Great food, great coffee, awesome staff. Food came out fairly quick and the wait to sit was minimal for it being a small size diner. Loved the decor and energy as soon as I walked in. I didn't have to use any condiments on my breakfast. I ordered the park vale omelette with a side of brisket. OMG the brisket was so good with a hint of spice. Portion size was a nice hefty size. All fresh ingredients. Def glad we came here before heading back to Connecticut. Left happy and full.

Dafne Momongan- Connall

It has good breakfast selection. But need to improve cleanliness. Table little bit sticky and I could smell BO some of the server ( sorry sensitive nose).

Sean T

Great comfort food at great prices.

Edward ostrowsky

Great New England charm

Jazmin Samano

Sooo good! We tried the chicken and waffles, side of Mac and cheese, and the Montecristo. Everything was delicious! But the fried chicken had to be our favorite. It was nice and crispy on the outside and tender juicy meat on the inside. I have to mention that the kitchen definitely has a love for thyme because you can catch a hint of it in a lot of the food but it’s just the right amount that it gets balanced out with the rest of the platter. Only downside is the place is a little small so be prepared to wait on the weekend.

Jessica Brand

Great vegan alternatives. Tofu scramble is very good. Also, they use humane certified eggs which makes me very happy!

Mark Zbinden

Was 5 stars, but had to update to 2. Management changed, and completely gutted everything that made the Allston Diner special. Now it's just a cheap imitation of it's former self.

Jackie Nicoletti

The food was great. The service was great. The place was very clean.

Michele

Pancakes are awesome

Wes Hadley

Best breakfast in the Allston area. Vegan/veg friendly, but no shortage of options for carnivores either!

andrea castro

Ordered online and it said it was delivered, but I never received it. I called and ask about it, they told me it was refunded. They didn’t even bother to let me know it wasn’t actually delivered after I waited over an hour for food.

Andy Collentro

The charm and excellent food quality left with the previous owners. From the other reviews and Yelp it seems that everyone else agrees. What used to be really well-seasoned thin potato slices for home fries are now comparable to the kind of frozen curly fries you bake in the oven at home, only not curly. I ordered what used to be my favorite, the corned beef omelette, and it was not tender and delicious like it was before the new management. If you used to come here prior to a few months ago and plan to go back you will likely be disappointed like myself.

Love the food and the place. I wish they would expand because the wait gets long and the inside gets too crowded

Bethany Greenaway

Upon entering we weren't acknowledged for almost 15 minutes. When we were finally seated it was another 15 minutes until someone brought us water and took our orders. The food took almost 45 minutes to get to our table and was okay but nothing special. Wait staff was rude and unprofessional. I will not be returning again.

All of the food came out correctly the first time. The entire energy in the place was calming. I would definitely visit on my next trip to Boston.

Great comfort food and fried chicken. Reasonably price and interesting decor.

Nick Conrad

Phenomenal food, friendly staff. Even though it's a small and popular spot, you won't wait long for seating.

Delicious Vegan options!

Used to be awesome, change in management ruined this place

David Tran

One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had

Jason Baldachino

Good breakfast options for those who do not eat eggs.

Must've been good, wait was too long to get in
