The omelets are huge but there were whole strips of greasy bacon inside the omelet my dogs liked it. The corn beef hash is pretty terrible. The coffee is hot but not great. I won't be back.

My boyfriend and I love this cute little diner. There's not much going on in Plainville, but this is one place to definitely stop in for breakfast. The staff is friendly and after two visits they began to recognize us immediately. As soon as we walk in they know what we want for drinks and stop over to our table to get our order. The food is a good selection of typical foods you would find at a diner. I've never had any of their lunch items, but their breakfast food is very good, comes is a good portion size, and even their coffee is delicious (not sure how it's any different than any other diner but I really enjoy the coffee they serve here). This is a great place to go on a weekend for breakfast - even if it's busy you'll get seated pretty quickly. Support a local business and try out A & J's!

This is me and my parents, favorite place to eat Breakfast!!they have huge portions and are very reasonable!!!I always get their homemade corned beef hash and their ham off the bone melts in your mouth!!they are well known by the locals so the earlier you go the better, but they move fast!!

Got my order completely wrong ...called and complained the girl who answered told me she didnt know what to say...did not try to fix my order...then I get a call back!!! From whoever telling me they dont remember me coming there when i was just there...never have i ever been called back and ?'d...really??? I place a $50 order weekly there...i give you -5 stars!!! I suggest you train your crew to take orders correctly and to respect your customers cuz without us there is no U!!!

Terrible service, we went there to get breakfast and waited 30 mins after we ordered to be told it was gonna be another 25 minutes. After we had seen people come in after us and get their food before us. Also when we were told it was going to be longer the waitress was very rude.

Edited...Waited 10 minutes without service, had no choice but to leave, we only had time for breakfast.. Lousy service, a waitress walked by 3-4 times and finally said "someone else" would be with us... no one every came so we left! The service is the main reason we don't go here very often. 9 months ago....Had a very late breakfast here (almost closing time), it was good. Eggs were cooked over medium, no runny whites....yay! Bacon was extra crispy, as were the hashbrowns :( small pancake was ginormous(sp?)

Been going here for over 10 years the food is amazing , the staff is usually great. Today's experience was the worst I've ever encountered with a waitress ever ,sadly. Seemed annoyed with us from the way we ordered our food, waited over 10 minutes for coffee . I understand that places get busy, but when we watched people being served after us recieve theirs and she was walking around with a coffee pot asking people if they want refills I tried to grab her attention. She brushed me off. I waited some more time , finally I said excuse me can we have our coffee . She very rudely said its gonna be a while ! I have never walked out of a restaurant so quick, and this was a favorite spot for us. **gave another try and it was much better. Rude waitress no where to be found Happy we gave it another shot

My wife brought me here one Sunday morning and we've gone every Sunday morning since. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait but it's always worth it. Everything on the menu is delicious and prepared attractively. Our favorites are the Fully Loaded Benedict and the Lumberjack Special. We each get an extra side of hollandaise sauce because it's so irresistible. I strongly recommend this place.

A&J is our go-to Saturday morning breakfast place. The food is always delicious, there is more than enough of it, and the staff is ALWAYS friendly, smiling and courteous. It's family owned and operated and it shows in how many customers return. The waitresses are on a first name basis with almost everyone and even remember exactly what you want to drink and how you drink it. Their omelets and homemade blueberry muffins are the best, but my husband prefers their waffles and crispy bacon. I have never had a bad meal there. Check it out!

My family and I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. My favorite meal is the lumberjack special which comes with eggs, toast, home fries, sausage/bacon/or ham, juice, and a giant pancake. The eggs benny with corned beef hash is delicious too. Service is quick and friendly although it does get busy on weekends. I think A&J has new owners now but everything is still the same awesome it has always been.

Went there to try somewhere new. After I ordered the food, it came out in less than 5 minutes. I asked for scrambled eggs and it came out like an omelet. Eggs were rubbery and tasted fake. Homefries had good flavor but not cooked long enough. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

The food was acceptable, I would rate it 3 stars on a scale from 1 to 5. However, last Friday morning (09/30/2016), I had a strange encounter with one of the table cleaning employees. She said she was Polish, although no accent detected. She embarrassed herself by being loud and neurotic in the middle of the diner, and like that wasn't enough, she engaged into a very unusual conversation with me. I tried to be polite and went along because I preferred not to escalate her psychosis. Even though her job is menial, she should have been more professional. After all, that's her job. As a psychiatrist I would strongly advise the A & J owners to check employees and future employees mental health background as it is important for the business. I went there to have a peaceful breakfast on my day off... After what happened, I will never go back to the A & J Restaurant again.
