A Hidden Jewel In OEC... Old Ellicott City - Historic Main Street. The food was delicious and the portions are super sized! We'll surely be returning! Our server - Greg.... was so kind and attentive.
We love the trolley stop. We've been coming here for years. The food is great, service is great and portions large enough to take home for tomorrow. We've celebrated birthdays, my son's rehearsal party, and other family. Also, meet friends for live music and drinks. I recommend this restaurant highly. ❤️
Awesome breakfast. Great service and alot of bacon. Thank you.
The food and service is always excellent. You may need a reservation if you have a large party. They stay busy.
Had a wonderful evening. Thank you server 18
My lady and I went to the Trolley Stop for breakfast after searching on line for a place we had not tried yet. We arrived and it was pretty busy. My lady and I both had hot chocolate and blueberry waffles with bacon. The waffles arrived quickly and were delicious. The hot chocolate was really good too. So half way through the waffle, we realized we had no bacon. When my lady requested it, the server seemed mad that we asked. When she was the one who forgot. The bacon arrived and it was easy to tell that it was deep-fried and not cooked on the grill. It was dried out, shriveled, over salty scraps of what used to be bacon. Totally gross. We never got the servers name because she never told us. The service wasn't that good. The waffle was great. The bacon was horrible. The location is an old trolley location back from the early 1900's. Old, rustic, and also very dusty. The bill was $28.05 total. We might be back again for lunch some time. All in all I say it's just ok.
Love this place. Friendly staff, good food, scenic views.
Good food, and nice big portions too. It took a long time for them to seat us though, and it was s only 4 of us and a 2 yr. old.
You can tell the restaurants next to each other are owned by the same people because their service is exactly the same: poor. While the food is delicious, the workers alone make us not want to eat there. They don’t bother greeting you when you walk in and while you’re ordering, the front end staff look less than thrilled to be helping you, let alone to be working there. While I was ordering, the lady kept sighing and rolling her eyes. I’m sorry, am I bothering you? If you don’t want us to support a local business then let us know. Or perhaps don’t work in the service industry where you’re expected to work with customers. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back. The Georgia Grace cafe down the street was way more welcoming and didn’t make me feel like I shouldn’t be eating at their rest.
Amazing service, amazing food, amazing quality, amazing atmosphere
The Trolley Stop has survived yet another devastating flood in Ellicott City. They are now cut off from normal through traffic yet again. Please go out of your way to visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu is filled with delicious food. This family run business is friendly and portions are generous. They are presently collecting needed items for residents whose homes have been compromised by the flooding. I visit the Trolley Stop several times during my visits to family in Maryland and I recommend all their menu items. You will not be disappointed.
Great "hole in the wall" the pancakes are good enough to cause fist fights!
Nice old building, and comfortable atmosphere. Seems very popular with locals. Sandwiches were excellent (I had a Trolley #9), but fries are nothing special. GPS brought us here just fine, following the detours with no problems that are still in place following the flooding.
Good food, nice service, however a bit to pricey.
The food is always great here. The servings are large and the prices are very reasonable.
I love the atmosphere and the breakfast omelets rock!
Most affordable place in Old Ellicott City! The food is great and the staff is very nice.
Really enjoyed the place omelet was too dry
I had some really really fantastic steak dinner tonight steak garlic mashed potatoes a beautiful salad will be back again we will be we will be back again
Good place for bar food, nice menu. They have a kids menu, but it is handwritten and I didnt see it on the website. They have a toy basket with free toys for the kids! There is a small park across the street with benches by the river. My only complaint is the dirty bathroom and no diaper changing table in either men's or women's room.
I came here with my husband and in-laws for lunch on a Sunday. The atmosphere is very cozy and quaint. The portions were large and the Maryland crab soup was fantastic. My Italian sub was good, although I wasn't a fan of the prosciutto on it. All of the servings were huge and none of us finished our meals. It made for a good dinner, too!
Greek omelette is amazing. Also the crazy big side of bacon for cheap!
Most awesome Chicken Ceasar Sal
Always a favorite place as a group or just as a couple. Best pile of bacon ever!
Good atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great food
Best crab cakes ever
Always fast service and always HOT food when it hits the table. Love the Trolley Stop!
Great food selection, huge portions, and one of the more reasonable restaurants in EC. Good service too! Nice historical feel inside.
Great little place. Very cozy and have never been disappointed with anything on the menu.
Food was great. Portions were large. Service was great.
Great food! Nice staff! Good coffee!
Absolutely delicious. We live in SC and they don't know how to make crab cakes. Husband had the shrimp salad and was very pleased! Will definitely go back when we are in the area!
Nice and cozy place. Serice? Couldn't be better!
Awesome food !!
Always a great meal and alot of it too
They don't do separate checks for any table, it doesn't matter the size your group, a couple or a party *awkward*. Other than that the food was good and the service was ok.
This is a lovely local pub that I visit 2-3 times a month for breakfast and catch up with friends. The service is wonderful and they put lots of
Definitely come here. Its great, that’s all you need to know
25 years as a customer. Why did I need to send my food back TWO times ! Burnt toast and then not roasted at all with my chipped beef! So disappointed that I said something to the owner and he had nothing to offer! Wow! I gues if you you don't care about a customer after 25 years you will not care if anyone comes back!
Positives: Classic steak and seafood tavern with attentive service. I had a big portion of blackened tilapia and happy to see Full Tilt beer on the menu. Negatives: Menu price didn't line up with amount on bill and the lights are way too bright inside.
Second visit, lunch with co-workers. Service is fast and courteous, food - average.
A great place to have a beer or order a burger with fries. I had the corned beef Rueben and could only eat half of it! Historical significance is amazing. 1833, the trolley ran above (like the railroad) and stopped at the second floor dining room. Very cool.
we went here with family for a wonderful breakfast on a Saturday morning. The staff was amazing and quick to satisfy every customer. They worked well with large groups and small tables. The food was amazing and plentiful. I felt the cost was reasonable and the only unfortunate part was the limited parking. I would highly recommend this place for a wonderful meal.
Great service & good food. Interesting stop for tourists.
A bit pricy but I remember watching these two bus boys gang up on a table. They were really goshdarned fast and I was impressed. This waitress with a really cool southern accent gave me extra pickles too and she was really nice. The burger was top knotch. Keep up the good work!
Incredible food and great atmosphere. The cajun chicken is the to die for
Always great food and service!
Very good, ample portions well prepared
My wife ordered prime rib. When the order arrived the delivery person said "... here's your steak...". My wife immediately noticed that it was not prime rib and told the delivery person who quickly stated "... it's prime rib..." despite what what was on the plate. We accepted the notion that it was prime rib without further adu. It was NOT a prime rib, rather a poor cut of some kind of steak. We didn't fuss because we were with a group, the restaurant was busy and didn't want to make a scene. In summary: wrong food, over charged and indifference to our complaint. No more visits.
My wife and I hike the trails in this area once a year. - This is the third year in a row we have ate here. - The Trolley #2 Burger is my favorite. The wife always ordered the Shrimp salad sandwich. - Best eats in Ellicott City. - The staff is always pleasant and greets us no different then anybody else. - For the past two years we have sat at the same table. - We truly love the historic atmosphere. - Many Thanks
Great breakfast! The sausage links were the best I think I've ever had. Very cool historical building, too.
Love this place! Old time place serving old time home made food. Huge portions, come hungry.
Fun local restaurant that always serves up tasty meals.
Open at 7am.i used to be on 3rd shift and wow their breakfast is amazing
The service is great. The food is plentiful & delicious !
Had an absolutely scrumptious dinner here at the Trolley Stop and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and portion sizes!! The service was speedy and dietary restrictions accommodated quite professionally, with all parties well pleased with our meals. Definitely will be back and highly recommend the Reuben sandwich!
Large portion great waitress
We loved it! The tavern is cute and fits very nicely with the Ellicott City's atmosphere. They have a good sense of historic perspective. The food was good. I recommend the crab soup. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
Good service and GREAT FOOD, as in the past. Will be back again.
Great food and Bar. I go there because they make the best Chicken Chesapeake platter. The Atmosphere is great and quiet and so is the service. It's also an historic old brick house and you can see, read and learn about their and Ellicott City's history if you take a time to see their portraits on the walls. There's a private activity room on the second floor that you can book for birthdays and other celebrations. Prices are also reasonable. Highly recommended.
Great food and great service
everything was great!
This is a favorite local restaurant of ours. You can't beat the amount of food you get for your money. The menu includes several trolley themed sandwiches that are all good. Even the veggie! Wings are excellent, fish and chips are excellent, salads are excellent. Beer selection includes non-alcoholic brews and some nice local selections.
Loved the food, the service, the ambiance. Date night with honey.
Trolley Stop is a fantastic place for libations or dining in historic Ellicott City, MD, The bar is old school, with a nice mirror so you can keep tabs on how wasted you look as well as keeping an eye out for nefarious scoundrels creeping up from behind with a six-shooter! The Thursday-only "Meatloaf Special" is to die for! As if the food & drinks aren't enough of an incentive to visit, there is the lovely Miss Kitty. Indeed, Miss Kitty is known far & wide as a fabulous alchemist of adult libations. But mind your manners because Miss Kitty is the orneriest woman in all these parts & a few others as well. Matt Dillon knows when to let her be & even the scrappy Honey Badger takes the long way around when Miss Kitty is in the house!
Fantastic food, neat decor and the best service!
Great Food, Great Service, highly recommended and the Beer is Cold. Try the French Dip, it's the best I've ever eaten.
Awesome food and staff.food comes out quickly
Just went there for breakfast this morning. It was a very interesting place. Great foods and staff. Will go there again for sure!
Honestly, was a little concerned when we first came in. Seemed a little dim and too bar based for us. But...... BUT, this was amazing. GREAT people, IMPECCABLE service, FANTASTIC food, LARGE portions!
Massive servings, casual setting in historic Old Ellicott City. Good food
First time visiting, I love this place now!. Portions are amazing, and the sandwiches are Top Tier! Get the Trolley #9!!!
Seems super local, in that it is small and when you walk in the door, everyone sort of looks at you like "who is that?" And then they go back to chatting or drinking. Herbert (I think) our waiter was quiet, but very nice. The food came in good sized portions. The fries were piping hot. Although they were standard frozen crinkle cut. Still good. I would recommend this place to a local looking to find a place where they can come on a regular basis and get to know neighbors. The staff would probably make you feel like you walked into "CHEERS". But it might take a few visits and initiation on your part.
simple, delicious food and excellent service!
Biggest breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Packed with bacon. Awesome. Quick and friendly service. Cozy atmosphere. Accommodated our 14mo old with a smile.
Love this place great food. Great atmosphere.
Great food and prices
Great food and service
Decent food, small town feel with locals always at bar to greet you. One lady that tends the bar majority of the time is amazing. She's got great customer service and honest about the food choices! Little too dark inside but it is historic so there's not much you can do about that. Serves breakfast in morning and the French toast is amazing! Huge portions of food given.
Foods amazing. Big portions
If you've never been here, trust me, GO TODAY. Large portions with decent prices and the food tastes AMAZING. I love this place. I've been here for breakfast and for lunch many times and I've NEVER been disappointed. I'm suuuuuuuuuper picky so that is a huge accomplishment.
Lovely comfort food, down home cooking
Good food, cozy, old school restaurant. I wish the staff were nicer the day I went. They didn't warm up to us until we were leaving. There's lots of history on the walls to look at in there. It was kid friendly as well. I often have thought to go back because the food was good but couldn't get past the rude service experience. Take a walk on the Trolly trail #9 if you go & get the pancakes.
Stopped for breakfast. My wife had the breakfast sandwich and I had a short stack of pancakes with a side of sausage. The sandwich was so big she had to take half of it home, but said it was outstanding. The pancakes were huge. They covered the whole plate. Fluffy and thick. You could taste the buttermilk. I could only finish two thirds of the two pancakes. We will diffenitly return for lunch and dinner in the future.
Food was delicious and service was amazing. The location is fantastic. Highly recommend.
Our favorite place! If you love steak, their specials are the best! .. then again we enjoy everything there.. the BLT is amazing, I love the Greek omelet, the blueberry pancakes are yummy!
Food came out quickly, but the roast beef platter appeared to have been microwaved. The beef way overcooked. Service was good though.
great food and service. I love this place
Has to be the best french dip I've had in all of Maryland!
This place is fantastic!!
Got there at 11:30a. The history of the place is neat. Service was good, except that we were told they wouldn't start serving lunch for an hour so we had to order breakfast. My omelet was very good, so I was happy with my food, but the table seated right after us one table over was allowed to order lunch. Was a little bummed since lunch was what we wanted.
Good food, good service, reasonable prices, great ambiance , but it is Ellicott City so parking is always the issue
Good food and customer service was great!
Never actually gone in (historic building is not accessible), but it's a very popular spot, so it must be good! Limited parking, but a free public lot us just past it when you go under the bridge that used to support trains as best I can tell. Again, it is extremely popular! People of all ages! I cut the one star simply because I can't get my chair in the building, but it's not their fault. It's in a historic district that doesn't allow changes to the exterior. But they have escaped major floods that frequent the area!
Great food even better service!
Lousy service. Food ok but overpriced. Noisy.
Friendly and comfortable spot with good service and good food. The 4 of us had crab dip, burger, French dip and a couple of steaks. All good choices here. Relax, eat, drink and enjoy yourselves here!
A local institution with long history and wonderful pub style food.
Always a generous helping of delicious, comfort food brought to you by a friendly waitstaff. Hardly a week goes by without a visit, especially when we're in the mood for a big breakfast made the way we want it. Definitely a place where the locals go!
Messed up my order people can't take an order right
Good burger, chicken sandwich was a bit bland...beautiful old building in historic Ellicott City.
The open face beef was great
Great atmosphere, good food. Plenty of close parking.
Good place, parking, good menu. Food was hot, server did a good job.
Always delicious
We go here for breakfast anytime we are in town. Love their french toast! Service is quick and the staff are very friendly. Small town eating at it's best!
Very good food and the portions where fantastic
My friends took me to this spot in Ellicott city. Great food and the service was Awesome! The Reuben was so Delicious!
Great food, good portions and good service.
Not sure what's going on with the trolly stop but quality is slipping and fast been coming for 20 yrs love the burgers soup and chicken chesapeake French onion soup was the color of chicken stock and tasted like hot water the crab imperial on the chicken Chesapeake tasted off I mean really off and the burgers tasted like cheap greasy beef may have been frozen patties...so disappointed noticed it has been off lately but this last time just turned me off completely really going to miss the old trolly stop
Great food at great price. Ambiance takes you all the way back to 1850s.. helpful and responsive staff. Highly recommend.
Shrimp toast is a whole reason to make the trip! So good!!!
We had been searching for a place like this since we moved to the area a year and a half ago. It's your basic home cooking with a Maryland twist (plenty of crab on the menu). The ambiance is authentic—no contrived, fake wagon wheels on the walls or anything obnoxious like that. Just a real place that doesn't put on airs. Unfortunately, we had to leave before karaoke got started. (According to the guests at the table next to ours, karaoke happens on Friday nights and is quite entertaining.) Finally, the staff were very friendly and genuine. Our new favorite <3
A great local restaurant with a selection of classic American dishes. The historic atmosphere is complemented by a friendly and accommodating staff. Parking may be sparse up front, but rear parking is usually abundant. Prices are average if not a little high, but the quantity and quality of food is well worth while.
Food was delicious ! Chicken Cheaapeke absolutely delicious! Sangria by Sarah good!
The food at the Trolley Stop is great down home cooking and the portions are more then generous.
Great food and great service in historic Ellicott City. Yes, there are many businesses open again!! Don't miss the prime rib!!
Ask for Sarah, she'll make you part of the family. Laid back atmosphere, somewhat old timey. Definetly not a sports bar. If you want that atmosphere and age of clientele, keep walking over the bridge on Main St.
Cozy and historic, but the food is of average taste for a historic restaurant.
Good food and friendly people.
Perfect location on the outskirts of Ellicott city. Parking nearby. Service was good and food tasty. Good place to go anytime.
Great food! Great service! Cool building!
Great food, but the service was not up to its usual excellence.
Great burger! Came out perfect. Ordered medium got medium. Helpings generous. The guys that waited and served us were nice and very attentive. I really like my hot food served hot. Again perfect.
Quite a historic treasure. The service was friendly and very accommodating. Although the food prices seem on the high side, you'll get your moneys worth in large portions of food. I was unable to finish the cheese steak sub because it was so large (and took the left overs home), something that I cannot say about any other place I've had such a sub. The food was free of excessive grease, including the fries. For a good meal, I recommend this place.
Unbelievably good, no great food, at a great price. Had the Potato skins for appetizers and the Half Pound Sirloin Black and Blue Burger for entree. Both were fantastic. The Potato Skins were $10 and the burger $13. I mention the prices as the quality (great) and portions (a lot) you get for what you pay is pretty phenomenal. The side of coleslaw was delicious. The finely-shredded raw cabbage with mayonnaise was tasty without being too heavy. Had cheese cake for dessert and OMG- it was tasty. The service was good and the vibe there is cozy. It's got a historic charm to it. Next time I am in Ellicott City I will be back.
Always enjoy our meals in this historic town & restaurant.
We were staying in the area from out of state and happened on this restaurant. Being from the Midwest, we had to order crab cakes and were not disappointed! The waitress was excellent and was very kind at helping is with an issue. We ended up eating there 3 or 4 times in our short stay. They all made us feel at home and the food was delicious!
Nice place to eat
Ellicott is such a fun town to visit! We enjoyed great service and large portions (we had sandwiches). It's a fun family-oriented restaurant with a bar at the far end of town.
Love Trolley Stop. The bacon kings of the earth. We breakfast there once a week and never a complaint. It has a great friendly staff and meals are super delicious and most generous. It has a quaint cozy atmosphere nice for singles and families. Generous parking in front and in the back. We highly recommend.
Its my Alumni, i never had a bad experience there. Great place, great food, great staff and great down to earth people who want to have a good time on Friday nights singing karaoke.
Decent food served in a comfortable atmosphere.
Phenomenal pub type food and great people
Good place to meet friends, socialize & karaoke!
Very good food & very nice Staff.
My favorite restaurant in Ellicott! Everything I've had on their menu has been delicious and I always get their bread pudding!!! They have a good beer selection too.
I guess it’s because this place is a staple of the community that it has such good ratings. I found the food and service to be subpar.
My favorite restaurant in Ellicott City. Really good food and a very relaxing environment.
Excellent food, good service. Know before going the dining area is part of the bar area. They do have a dining area upstairs but its only open for overly and busy evenings.
Great food and service was spectacular!
Very inviting and friendly by staff and patrons. An immediate warm and cozy feel to the place as soon as you walk in. Food is delicious and servings are plenty! Local town folks and regulars give this place a feeling of belonging - I didn't feel like a stranger at all! The best for last, Kelly the bartender was most helpful and patient. She is super friendly and quick to serve. Will definitely be back..Ten Stars if I could. PS - Bathrooms are clean even at the end of the day! That says alot to me.
Very nice place to go. Bartenders are very courtesy. The food is great. I have never ordered anything that was bad. Love going there.
Great Atmosphere in a beautiful historic area!
Wonderful place. The minute you walk in you can't help but say, wow something smells good. Very diverse menu, portions are big, staff is friendly, prices are reasonably. Overall great experience, we will be back.
Great food, huge portions
Delicious food, good service...
Fantastic little restaurant and bar hidden in Ellicott. Reuben was fantastic, so was the roast beef. Great for comfort food and a great place to sit and watch the game. Very cool all wood atmosphere as well.
Cozy! Excelent food!
I've been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is awesome! Service is super fast! We always wonder how they get the food out so quickly! Order the side of bacon...it's more like a mound of bacon! Definitely need to share! Lunch and Dinner have been good too...great burgers and wraps! Generous portions! Friendly staff and bartenders! Great place for a casual meal!
Breakfast was good. Atmosphere is nice. Servers were awesome.
Awesome crab imperial and crab cakes! Very friendly wait staff.
Old Time Setting.
Great personalized service with a small time charm. French toast is super yummy too!
I love this place! Excellent service and great food that is affordable!
Great omelet "homemade" taste. Small town appeal.
Great food all around! This time I had shrimp scampi pizza and it was fantastic. Can't wait to order it again!
