For Korean food, this place is average. Very disappointing they were out of pork belly each time I have gone. The first time I came you had to order at the counter and then they would bring your food to your table in to go boxes and cups. Last time I went it became a sit down type of restaurant using actual plates and hot stone bowl. Not sure if they know what they want to be. The food in general is ok, nothing special. I do like the pour your own beer system. I don't mind coming here because it's the only Korean restaurant around this area, but I think they can up their game.

We hosted our engagement party at Spoons and couldn’t be happier with how it went. Joe, the manager, and his staff were fantastic and very accommodating. The food was great, the beer taps were very convenient, and they added nice touches like a free champagne toast. We would highly recommend eating here or reaching out to host an event!

The place offers a nice variety of delicious food. I liked dining here. The employees are always very nice, prices are fair and the spot is always kept clean.

They've had a big change in the restaurant lately, shifting from wait staff and table service to a counter that you order at (then they bring the food to your table). Also some reconfiguration in the seating area (booths are gone and now have tables). Menu is changed a bit too but mostly the same. A pretty good beer selection including some from Korea and some local Maryland beers. The food is good (especially the bulgogi and beef dishes) and service is quicker than before- an improvement. Well worth visiting.

I had the opportunity to finally get a chance to eat at Spoon's and I have to say I loved it!!! Of course it's the first week and every one is getting in their routines, that is to be expected. The wait staff was great, restaurant was clean and they offered a nice variety of both Korean and American favorites. lt will definitely be a place I frequent when looking for a place to grab lunch or dinner!

Danie Bullard

Spoons is delicious and I am extremely glad there is a restaurant like them in the SoMD region. They have a variety of small Korean dishes to choose from, like kimchee and seaweed salad, and their main dishes are a healthy portion. The only draw back is service can be dauntingly slow at times - as is don't go here if you are in a rush and want your food served now.

Arlene Fernandez

Great first time visit experience. Server Kyle was awesome and very attentive (and very pleasant to look at too

Health inspector came by during visit. Owner hid in back as she came out later asking kid up front what he wanted... I had high hopes for this place as it came recommended; Looks like I missed its best times. Food was good but I knew what combination to order because I lived in Korea for 4 years. Wanted some cold noodle soup, the kid didn't know what I spoke of. Ended up with bibimbab (rice bowl with mixed vegetables) for twice what you'd pay in Korea. It's a nice place, but didn't wow me. Still want a real Korean style restaurant in southern MD.

Terrance Morris

Great customer service and food. Restaurant was very open and clean with a bar, booths, tables and TVs. Definitely plan on going back for more!

Very good food and customer service to match

This place used to be amazing !!! My recent experience was horrible. I was served food in" to go" containers when I was clearly sitting to eat lunch. I also ordered a bottle of wine that was placed in front of me unopened with a dirty wine glass. The food that was served looked as if it was made the night before. I used to love this place but will never return.

Marc Krouse

First time. Food was very tasty, service was fantastic. Wish the grilling was done at the table. The food wasn't quite hot enough. More room temp. Prices a bit too high.

The food selection was sparse and they did not have any of their most requested dishes. The appetizers were weird af, nothing matched ie hushpuppies and pork bbq

Not going here again. Ordered my food it was wrong n wayyy over priced for just basic fake Korean food.

The new Spoons Korean and American BBQ was excellent!! There's a full service bar area with live entertainment on the weekends. A really cool beer tap system where you can pour your own beer or do a tasting. Lots of beer choices!! The food and service were excellent!! Prices were reasonable and the portions were huge. I highly recommend checking out Spoons!!

I’m giving this place a three star review because the food was delicious and they carry a decent beer selection. I order the beef short ribs which were really the bomb. But when I recived my order it was served in a plastic box and the rice was in styrofoam. I thought they have prepared my food as a carry out and just gave it to me on a tray... the bartender assured me that it is always served in a plastic box which was a huge turn off for me. I’ll be back but doing carry out as the dining experience was an overall let down.

HORRIBLE....WORST FOOD EVER DONT GO... First when we first walked in the music was HORRIBLY LOUD....yet we still took a chance. We had ordered the spicy pork ramen.BIG MISTAKE...first of all it took FOREVER for them to bring us our food and then when they finally did it was brought out in some Rusty pots on a hot plate....THAT WASNT EVEN HOT the ramen was Luke warm and the "pork" tasted like an old dog toy... And it wasn't even spicy..the broth was just some red spiced water.the noodles we're way over cooked and it wasn't ramen it was soggy regular grocery store noodles NEVER AGAIN

Good variety of food in a comfortable setting, with friendly staff who were helpful with one of the people dining with us who asked for recommendations. Waited about 10-15 minutes after ordering before getting food, which seems to be the baseline as we were one of only three tables being used when we ordered. However the food was great, and their spicy variations tasted great and were as spicy as I was expecting Korean dishes to be.

Went here with my wife and two others for dinner. This place has changed to a self service type setup. There is no wait staff. You order at the front, take a seat, and food is brought to you when ready. PRO: The menu is still the same. Decent beer selection. CON: The price is still the same. If I'm self serving and eating out of take out dishes with plastic utensils...why am paying a full restaurant price? Some items listed are no longer available. You won't know until you order. I tried to get the broccoli salad side...no longer available. Both orders of galbi we're extremely burnt. I can tolerate a little...not over 75% of the food. It was returned and redone. Not ideal when everyone else is already eating their food. The diet Coke from the machine was mixed badly...to much syrup. As I was replacing my wife's diet Coke another table returned their BBQ sandwich because it was cold. We were overall unhappy with the experience. We used to go here quite frequently. This place has not changed for the better. It seems the change is to save money in a struggling restaurant. Thankfully we didn't order our food to go. The burnt food would have been a disappointing surprise.

It was just OK. We went with the kids and my inlaws (who happen to be Asian). They weren't impressed with the food at all... it was very odd ordering, no pictures to help explain what you'd be getting... just not what we were expecting at all... and prices are too high for such disappointment. Husband ordered fried fish... my daughter got chicken tenders... oldest son got wings w/ fries, youngest son got the rice bowl... I had lettuce wraps with bulgogi and the inlaws chose the 3 entree meal with bulgogi and the LA Spare ribs....(or whatever the ribs were called) I think the bulgogi was a bit over seasoned... but the kids liked their food... my father in law said that he couldn't cut thru the ribs... so I watched as he picked it up and tried to tear it with his hands... he struggled but finally got it... mom did not seem impressed. I won't say they're terrible, but I ordered circle meat and it was one single serving... they were polite workers and it was clean inside. I nor my family will return... I liked the spoons bbq over on 228 better than this one... after reading the good reviews, I'm sad to say it was hype... because it was not all that.

Korean Ribeye bbq is probably one of the most underrated places around. Particularly late night when the rest of the restaurants shut down, your K BBQ stays up! What I like, a rare Portland/ Left coast style music late night indie vibe, machine beer serve, clean table, and undeservedly empty late night restaurant is where your day's story begins. Haven't met the owner but I like the direction he's going. The Korean Ribeye is worth your time.

Michael Zeher

Today was our first time trying out Spoons and it was fantastic. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. Our server was on point and the food came out quick. We will definitely be going back for more. Thank you guys for such fantastic everything.

So I dont want to give it any less just because I didnt care for the taste. I gave it 4 just becauase of the prices and kid menu and taste. I just tried the bulgogi over white rice. The taste was ok, maybe Im just not a fan of koren so no big deal. I did love the white rice though. That alone was $19 dollars, eek. Then I got my kids the only 2 things available. chicken tenders with mac and cheese and child sixe bulgogi. My kids love mac and cheese so not sure why they didnt want to touch spoons, I didnt get to taste it so I cant tell you but they did not eat it which is rare. The chicken tenders were not bad but bland. The child size bulgogi wasnt bad, it didnt come with the onions or carrots so my kid ate it. The bill for 3 kids meals and adult was about 48. I want to go back to try the ramen, I am not giving up pn Koren food just yet! the server was very nice. Oh on a side note, when we went to the bathroom the floors were so darns ticky that my flats kepts coming off, not sure what was up with that!

My carryout order did not take long to complete, but at 3pm on a Friday, there were no other customers. The BBQ sandwich was at least palatable, but the BBQ in the BBQ tacos was mostly charred and the wings?! They were black at the bone, very dry, and excessively seasoned as if to disguise the taste. By the time we'd gotten home with the order and began eating it, heavy rains came through the area, so we decided to chalk this 'meal' up to a very an unfavorable experience and will stick to Korean cuisine if and when we ever decide to patronize this restaurant again!

Logan Marsh

tried twice and both times disliked; low quality and poor flavors. for example, the Mac & cheese side is noodles with water flavored cheese.

Nathan Fisher

I ordered a meal online for delivery. I got a call from Grub Hub to call Spoons Restaurant directly regarding my order. Spoons informed me that they didn't have the dish that I order, but recommended another in it's place. When I received the delivery the order was not complete with what I asked for. I called the restaurant and spoke to assistant manager on duty who apologize and said she reach out to the driver bring left out item. No response. I called again to let her know how disappointed I was in their service. She apologized again said she would send me a link a site where she would offer me a gift card in replacement for my meal. She also said that she would have the Manager call me the next day. I never heard from them, and never received gift card or call from the manager. Customer service, honor and integrity does matter. I will never order from them again.

The place offers a great range of fresh food. I like dining here. The employees are always very welcoming, rates are affordable and the spot is always neat.

Juanita Barnes

Had the chicken "spoons my way" and it was pretty good. Friends had the "hot stone" spicy pork and the other bulgogi beef Both were really good.

Holly Mariano

So the food here was really good. I kind of wish there was an option of rice noodles or the noodles they automatically serve. The place is clean and it is a friendly environment. The music was on shuffle and the playlist or the speaker kept freezing and then the song would skip 15 seconds in, so that was a little annoying. I also think that if they aren’t going to have servers, they should notify us that we are allowed to have free drink refills, or at least have a machine that has all the sodas in it to choose from, so we can do it on our own like at Noodles and Company. Overall, this place was OK. Probably won’t come here again.

Jana Watkins

Great place! Food was amazing! I recommend the Bulgogi and pork spare ribs! The staff was welcoming and friendly and the manager, Richard, was awesome, going above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect. Highly recommend you try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Leslie Kekuewa

We were so excited to try Spoon's, as there is a lack of quality food diversity in the Southern Maryland area. In order to get good, authentic Korean food, you have to drive all the way to Annandale. Sadly we were extremely disappointed at the experience. Upon entering the establishment they were playing country music rather loudly. It immediately detracted from the atmosphere. We were seated immediately, as there were no customers in the establishment at all. Normally when you are seated in a Korean restaurant they immediately bring banchan, which is small dishes of foods like kimchi, pickled radish, bean sprouts, spinach, etc., that is included with the meal for the table to share. They brought out nothing. They were available on the menu, but at a price of $3.75 per small dish. The menu, while highlighting a few Korean dishes, also had southern BBQ favs, like collard greens, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes, and other things that were more of an Asian/American fusion. I have nothing against that type of food, and I do realize this is both a Korean and American BBQ restaurant, but I would like to have seen more traditional Korean offerings, as there are tons of places in SoMD to get outstanding traditional Southern BBQ. Then there are the prices. They are ridiculously expensive. I wouldn't mind paying higher prices for the food IF it was worthy, but unfortunately it was not. The food itself was barely passable at best. I ordered the hot pot bibimbap with bulgogi (which they charge an extra $3 for), and they barely had any bulgogi beef in the dish. Certainly not $3 worth. The mandu appetizer were most likely bulk frozen, and the banchan we did order was obviously store bought elsewhere, and not very tasty. If you are in Southern Maryland, and are craving Korean food, either take the time to head to Annandale to Honey Pig, or better yet, Chi Mc for the absolute best Korean chicken you will ever have, or if you want to stay local, head over to Bon Chon in Waldorf. They are more of a fast food chain, but have really good Korean chicken and other tasty dishes as well. Spoons was a great idea with tremendous potential. Sadly, in my never to be humbled opinion, they just completely missed the mark.

Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, nice menu options. The staff was informative and knowledgable, they made recommendations for a first timer, that didnt revolve around suggesting the most expensive item. The only reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars is because the wait time was a little high between ordering and receiving food, also they apparently recently changed their ramen noodles to a fluffier noodle and it wasnt that appealing. The food quality was great and really enjoyed trying the suggested items. Would definitely visit again.

Dan Harrington

The waiter was condescending and refused to work with us on simple requests based on our dietary restrictions. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told there was no one who could accommodate our request as he was the only person present. We promptly left. Awful experience

Kirston Smith

When this place 1st opened it was amazing. Now that they have changed its awful. The ribs were burnt and some really good dishes are no longer offered. We wont be visiting again, which is sad, because we really loved this place.

Anna Brown

My food was not very tasty and no sauce was provided with my order of mandu. The bulgogi looked like it was a mix of old and new meat and was not very hot. Also, the lady at the front counter was not very helpful when we said the Coca-Cola was mixed weak and the iced tea was running clear. I heard another customer complain about the tea but no one knew how to run the machine or change the Coca-Cola out so it didn't taste like water. No refund was given for drinks we didn't get...the lady seemed to go back into the kitchen to hide and text on her phone. Overall, a bad experience so I would not recommend this place.

We did not know what to expect from this place. Once we arrived we we're quickly greeted by an employee who showed us to our table and grabbed us all waters and answered some basic questions about the menu items. They also have about 12 beers on tap that you pour yourself by purchasing a card. Once you do the manager showed each one of us how to pour the beer and take advantage of each glass. The food was great, service was great and the beer selection was great, oh yeah and they had a live band. I know we will be visiting again soon.

Great food and service.

Zinexthesavior

It was mostly good, their service was seriously one of the best in any restaurant. The only problem is the pork belly, I honestly didn't enjoy it when compared with many other places I go to. However, all of the other food was PHENOMENAL and I was blown away. I'd suggest getting their sample platter for 24 dollars, as it gives you the real taste of everything good

Ive been a fan of their barbeque since the first time I had George's as a child. Their Korean food is amazing. Highly recommend the bookembap and bulgolgi.

That Funny guy

Pros: it's very nice and fresh looking. When I walked in all I could smell was bbq being smoked. The smell of summer instant when you open the door. I don't often say this but for me to come during a lunch rush, 2 things shocked me. How quick everything moved, and how clean the men's room was. I will be back again and again. Cons: The location is hard to find parking. The table arrangement can be better. Looks like you will be in the way room get really packed. But all and all, great place and can't wait to go back.
