First I must say the food was very delicious and coming from North Carolina we know good southern food and her food is awesome and Miss Marie she was very hospitable and made us feel at home as if we was at her house food was excellent conversation was excellent. Miss Marie going to get tired of seeing us because every time we come up here we going to come up and visit her and eat some of her home cooking.

Best breakfast in the city. Chicken and waffles are superb and my usual go-to. But you can't go wrong with any of the breakfast sandwiches. Biscuits are amazing. Ingredients always seem fresh and the portions are pretty large. I never leave out of here wishing I ordered more food. They close at 2pm so be sure to plan accordingly, especially on the weekends.

Omelettes are beyond amazing. I thought it was my mother in the kitchen cooking, that's how good it was!! Food was ready in less than 15 minutes, and we dined in. This is about to become my go to breakfast spot. If you have a taste for some homemade southern breakfast definitely give Simply Marie's a try!

Honestly, I wasn't impressed. Ingredients didn't taste fresh and the staff wasn't that friendly. I originally ordered a hot chocolate; that tasted and smelled of sewage. When I asked for a tea or something of replacement the guy at the front acted as if he had an attitude or I was inconveniencing him. It was pretty early, I get it but I am a paying customer so, why the hostility? IDK, you never know what people are going through but business is business and I was super nice. As an investor/customer why should I have to be the first to speak and say "have a nice day". It's little things like that , you can improve. Hope you guys take my review to heed. Nonetheless, the breakfast potatoes were decent and the sandwich didn't taste like high quality ingredients but it was edible. The turkey sausage reminded me of the frozen patties you would get from the dollar tree or Save a lot. Customer service is everything and if that was good I wouldn't of been as judgemental when it came to the food. One other thing, you might want to invest your time in wrapping or getting pre-wrapped utensils and coffee stirrers bc that is super unsanitary. Good luck with the growth of your company. God bless.

Wow! My wife and I decided to check out a new place for breakfast and Simply Marie absolutely hit the spot. My wife got a veggie omelette (I can't recall the name) and i got biscuits with sausage gravy. We both got grits as a side. Everything came up quickly and piping hot. The grits were very tasty, and the sausage gravy was delicious. The biscuits really held up well in the gravy as opposed to disappearing in a gelatinous mush. I definitely recommend them! My wife said her omelette was very good as well. The one thing we didn't order but we were given to sample after we got our food was the hash browns. Soooooooo incredibly good! I'm definitely getting a full serving of the hash browns next time. I absolutely recommend this little corner place for breakfast.

VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!! This was actually my 2nd time at this restaurant. The 1st time was fairly decent and the food was delish! However my experience today was piss-poor and the owner was EXTREMELY RUDE!! I ordered the pancake breakfast and did not realize that powdered sugar came on them so I kindly asked if I could get some without sugar and she rudely replied, "Look! I don't have time for this today!" Then when the food came out, the bacon was burnt, my eggs had dirty grill particles all over them, and the pancakes were not done and very gritty as if the batter was mixed with something. The cashier came by and asked if everything was good. After expressing my concerns politely, he relayed them to the owner (Marie) and instead of offering an apology or refund, she said, "its always one! She can leave my restaurant." And I did just that with my class in tact. I WAS DISGUSTED and this experience completely ruined my Mother's Day! 1-star is TOO much for this place!

Simply Marie's in a top option for breakfast in the Canton area and beyond. It's really got everything you need to have a great meal - the food is down home delicious, the portions are HUGE and thus a great value, and the hospitality is second to none - you'll be greeted and taken care of like it's your own home. Look people, it's 2016 and places like this are few and far between. This is a real gem and if there's not a long line you'll have the privilege of talking with Marie herself. Anyone looking for a classic, delicious breakfast at a great value with warm service should come to Simply Marie's.

I visited Simply Marie's about 3 weeks ago. I called my order in over the phone. When I arrived to pick it up the food was ready but the guy who took the order was not friendly or pleasant at all. He was very "matter of fact" when I asked a questions (being that it was my 1st time there) he was very short with his answers. I had to ask for my receipt and he looked as if I may have inconvenience him. The food was fine and the order was correct. I assumed maybe this was an isolated incident and he was having a bad day so I shrugged it off. The following week, however, my boyfriend went to get food and he had a VERY SIMILAR experience. He stated that the people who where served right before him were treated pleasantly by the man behind the counter by when it was his turn the man was unpleasant and unfriendly almost as if he didn't want to serve him. I was really excited about finding what I assumed would be a black-owned gem but I will not be returning.

My husband and I have only gone to Marie's twice for breakfast, but each time was fantastic. So far we have not had any issues or complaints. The food is prepared well and made with love. She hales from N.C which is probably why her grits are great! There are so few really good places for a good breakfast in Baltimore and this is one of them. The food comes in containers, which keeps things simple, but the coffee and the food is always fresh and hot!

This place has a huge cult following, so I thought I would give it a try. Overall I thought it was okay. The food really wasn't anything special, more just large portioned comfort food. I thought it was pretty expensive for a basic breakfast. If you're hungover and need a big breakfast go there. If you want something other than mom's cooking, go elsewhere.

Only gave it a 1 star so I could comment. When I came here I was supper excited to support black owned business and to get some good homestyle food. However upon arriving the lady behind the counter was extremely RUDE. Not sure if she’s the owner but she acted as if I was brothering her bc I needed 2 questions answered about the food, on top of everything she misunderstood my order and gave me food and was missing a key component of breakfast EGGS. When I tried to explain that my order was taken down wrong she rudely closed the door on myself and my husband. I will say she treated the Caucasian’s that were there with the up most respect. Unfortunately I was not able to receive that same type of respect. I will not be returning, hopefully she gets an attitude adjustment for people trying to support.

Food was subpar and overpriced. They can't cook a poached egg at all. My coworkers both ordered eggs Benedict and I ordered 3 poached eggs. EVERYONES eggs were poached HARD. The egg yolk was like a hard boiled egg. The hollandaise sauce was runny and basically looked like someone melted some melted some butter. Also, at an average of $19/person I saw absolutely NO value with the quality provided. Sad to say as we were really hoping for a great breakfast and would have been happy to pay these prices if the food was cooked better.

I cant believe how terribly my breakfast went. I stopped by here this morning on my way to the doctor, hoping this would help me feel better. I ordered an egg, cheddar,and turkey sausage sandwich and a side of grits with cheese. $12. Food comes out pretty quick, cool. Get to my car...no spoon (mind you it's only like 20 degrees outside), Okay I go get one. Finally get back in the car just to realize that the spoon is dirty and has some yellow substance dried to it. Once again I got back to get yet another one. Then I hear them just digging through a box or something of uncovered plastic spoons and talking about how they all have dust in them.. I'm annoyed but I'm hungry and want this to work. It didn't. My sandwich wasn't even completed covered in the foil. My eggs were a weird texture, almost watery and tasted like nothing. The turkey sausage was the only okay part for me and for some strange reason there was some salt on one side of the outside of the croissant. My $5 grits had no cheese ...or salt or pepper like I asked for and had a greasy looking film of (what I assume was) butter that didnt mix in well at all. Ironic because I was charged an extra $1 for the grits, which I assumed was for the cheese I didn't got. I rarely write reviews but I had to. I can't believe a place with such good reviews provides such poor service and food. This was beyond disappointing and unacceptable. There's absolutely no excuse to be giving customers dirty cutlery, especially not for $12 of disappointment.

Found the place on a random search and boy is it a keeper. The food has the southern home cooking style that I had yet to find I Baltimore. The homefries were excellent as they were well seasoned. The selection of omeletes was large and the one I picked was great. The service was outstanding! The son of the owner/cook was extremely helpful and seemed to genuinely care. Everything was made to order as well, but still only took about 15 minutes to come out. Service is super friendly. NOT VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY THE WORKERS WERE ARGUING WHILE CUSTOMERS WERE IN THE RESTURANT ALSO THE MAN HAS BAD FEET AND COULD BARLEY GET AROUND HIS FEET WAS HURTING .... WHEN WE RECIEVED THE FOOD THERE WAS DAY OLD BURNT POTATOS (HOMEFRIES) THE CHICKEN WAS NOT DONE!!! Very very small restaurant, but good breakfast...nice prices. Got the SM5 meal w/cheddar & Turkey sausage...good meal, big portions. Cashier guy was good host and attentive. As quaint and cozy as this spot was, he knew the frequent patrons and made visitors feel welcomed. This was an alternate choice to (the too packed) Ms Shirley's today...good decision! Parking is street (kinda limited...but more options than downtown and FREE). For dining space, there are 2 huge dining tables and rest is "barstool against wall type" eatery. #VABEACH2BMORE

Just like her name says....Simply a nice local spot nestled in a neighborhood. My husband and I just happened upon Simply Marie's. Only a few tables for those eating in. Husband had a sandwich, made very well, I had pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Bacon was crispy the way I like it! Pancakes were pretty thick, but had really good taste. Definitely worth checking out!

After a weekend in Baltimore with my wife we decided to have brunch. We went to Miss Shirley's but the wait was too long. So after reading a number of Google reviews and we decided to give Simply Marie a try. It is a small quaint place in a nice neighborhood. I was excited to try the chicken and waffles but was told that it would be a 20 minute. So I decided to have an sausage and bacon omelet with grits, toast and home fries. My wife had the same except her omelet had spinach and mushrooms. My first issue was the size of the home fries serving. It was served in a small butter/syrup cup (see pics posted). My omelet had plenty of sausage and bacon. The issue with this is the quality of the meat. Lower quality meat tends to be salty. And when you add that much meat to an omelet...too much. My wife's mushrooms were just about raw in her omelet. So lets move onto the grits. My grits were nice and thick, my wife's were watery like soup. Appears that they didn't come out of the same pot. After tasting them, I wondered if they were instant grits that had been cooked in the microwave. It's pretty easy to cook good grits, so I was surprised. Several times the customers were asked how we found out about the place. We both said Google. Later on that made me wonder if the other reviews online were real reviews or fake reviews...hmmm. To the owners of Simply Marie - Soul food is simple and tasty food. Maybe the people in that neighborhood don't know the difference between good food and just ok food, but I do. Any day I walked into my grandmothers house, she would whip up a breakfast that tasted 10 times better than what I had at your establishment. For the price ($30 for 2 people), I expected top notch. But that is not what I got. If you want people to return to your restaurant, you have to serve food that meets a high standard. If its not up to par...don't serve it. I wish you well and I hope that my negative review is the only one you receive.

Small place with limited seating tucked away behind Canton Square. A very friendly staff, and delicious simple southern food. What more could you ask for? Can't wait to go back.

I went to this restaurant to support black owned business and to get delicious food and superb customer service. That was not the case. I had looked the menu up online and had made a decision before I arrived. When I had arrived to the breakfast counter, I was informed that the fish and grits that I had wish to purchase had not been available for 2 YEARS!!! This let me know that this restaurant had not invested in any updates since then. On top of that, the staff including the owner was not willing to compromise or substitute what was not available. The staff (owner included) gave me a stare as to state... and Now What?! I would much rather be appreciated and satisfied as a customer than to disappointed and treated as if I was not valued. As a paying customer I would never patronize this establishment. It is clearly ran by people who do not understand the value and importance of customer service.

Visited this morning. We just happened to pass by it, we were visiting a friend in Maryland but we're from philly. Loved the food so much! French toast, waffles and chicken! Will definitely go back next time we go to Maryland!

I really wanted to like this place but the chicken and waffles had a half hour wait. I just got the regular waffle and they were out of the toppings advertised in the menu (I asked for cherry). The regular waffle was huge but quite salty. The cheesy grits did not taste good -- I couldn't finish it. I usually love grits! I wonder what was missing. Finally, I gotta say that it was not a good experience. The guy at the counter was kind of grumpy and impatient. It was self service. And finally, I paid $13 for a salty waffle and tasteless grits. Unfortunately, I would rather go to IKEA for breakfast at this rate ($1 for their American breakfast).

Great rustic breakfast joint run by Marie herself in the kitchen and her kids helping out with the service. Food tastes like it's made in grandma's kitchen. It is not the best breakfast ice had, as the homemade fries are a tad saltier than I would have liked albeit delicious. Waffles are fantastic. Sitting outside on a Sunday morning is as peaceful as it gets. Marie exudes southern hospitality

I don't ever even think about writing a review, but this right here, this right here is on another level. I live 45mins away but still make that drive for that Chicken and Waffles. Never knew food could melt in your mouth till I ate them Waffles and Pancakes.

May God continue to Bless her hands that have blessed our stomachs with this delicious food. My boyfriend and I came here through googling a spot to eat breakfast a couple of weeks ago. We wanted REAL food. We came here and all I can say it is Simply wonderful, only REAL food is served here which is so hard to find. She is super sweet and made us feel like home. OMG the portions, you gotta have a big back, she makes sure she feeds you trust me you will want to go to sleep after. Cant wait to come back
