Slow service.
The food is amazing. Walk in for lunch to a small but high quality buffet full of authentic Indian regional food.
The main chef has left and the waitress was nice, but the service took very long. Unfortunately, the food was not good and the environment there was rather dirty.
Food is good. But naan and shish kabob are the best. Sitting space is limited.
Best of the best this side of Brooklyn! Great flavor, fresh food, courteous & prompt service.
Really enjoy the lunch buffet and hot Nann bread that comes with it. Was our favorite place to go but it now has a new owner so we shall see if it measured up. The grocery section has closed and the prices have increased a bit.
Reasonable rates and outstanding service. Food is great too
The tandoori chicken is amazing, super moist and packed full of flavor! Great Indian dishes across the board, very authentic, exceeds or rivals some great Indian restaurants I've been too in London, new york and other large cities.
Not recommended. They don't understand what you ordered.
Absolutely loved it! The food was spiced to perfection with very good customer service. Will definitely be going there again.
Excellent food Excellent place Excellent service
Super nice people, delicious food.
So far I've been here twice I've got the chicken brownie both times it's pretty decent
God international food
Their tikka masala is AMAZING!!! I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and they have the best I've ever tasted. At times, its hard to reach them over the phone. Otherwise, one of the best restaurants in Salisbury, Maryland.
My mom loves this place and when you come into town this should be one of the places you check out. PS: get mild
Best dal tarka (yellow dal) on the shore. Lived at an ashram for a while and this is super similar to what we would cook. Makes me very happy :) Out of all Indian restaraunts on the shore and Delaware, Shalimar is the best. Always appreciate the really sweet man who works the front (owner? Not sure). Dope place, look no further.
Wonderful food and exceptional service. The restaurant is very basic, but the food is amazing. My husband (who is a very fussy eater, and reluctant to try new things, and had never tried Indian food) said it was better than any Chinese food he'd ever eaten. The lightest, fluffiest rice I've ever had. The gentleman serving us took time to find out how spicy we wanted our dishes, and the results were perfect. Very friendly and attentive, but not overly intrusive, unlike some places where you seem to get interrupted every 5 minutes to be asked if everything's OK. I would thoroughly recommend Shalimar.
I love the curry. Good selection in grocery store.
We had a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere isn't romantic, probably not the location for a first date. If your relationship is well established and you want great Indian food this is your place. We will definitely return for new flavors. They also have carry out.

great food
Great service and great food!! Excellent buffet options. Their menu has great options, too!
Not just good for Salisbury. Really good food. Biryani was excellent.
What’s the point of preordering take-out services if the food isn’t ready 30 minutes after calling it in? I might as well just visit a sit down restaurant. Had to wait an extra 20 minutes for my food to be prepared. Does it really take an hour to make 2 samosas and curry lamb?
Made the tikka masala sauce better than other place in Salisbury but gave me chicken instead of paneer. So, I guess I double check next time but there will be a next time
Great place! And great owner! We eat here often and the food is amazing! 10/10 recommend
Very good food, and very nice service.
Absolutely delicious! My dish had so many complex flavors, thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Will definitely return when we're back in town.
The real deal for the shore
Had the buffet. Very good. They serve til 2:30 but we're willing to wait for us and even brought out fresh rice. Very good food.
Excellent lunch buffet and naan.
I love their food. I went in to their little grocery store and went to the restaurant next door. Everyone was so nice and the food...ah the food was fantastic. I could eat their chicken kabobs every week. Yummy
I love this place. The owners are so kind and friendly and the food is AMAZING! I've never had such good and perfectly-cooked chicken curry and naan. The. Best.
Always pleased even when i think it’s something i don’t want to try it tastes delicious. I do take out and you definitely get your moneys worth. The buffett is small but it hits the spot. You can also order platters i beleive. They have a small store on the other side with Indian items. The inscense smell amazing. I love this place and the staff is friendly.
We stopped by here the weekend we were in Salisbury for the Seagull Century bicycle ride. This place is a gem! We 7 dishes. Each one was excellent. The hot milk tea was exquisite. Wish we had this in DC so that we could dine in frequently here. Absolutely loved it! The owner and the service was friendly, courteous, and very kind!
Excellent Chicken Tikka Masala tonight cooked to order!
Food is great. Real authentic Indian
Was visiting from out of town and some friends took us here for dinner to go, great staff and some of the best Indian food I have had in the states!
Ordered takeout we got chicken tika Masala samosas goat curry the portions were good and the prices were right the best Indian Pakistani restaurant in town
The food's great. Waiter was a bro

We've been looking for a good Indian place and I'm so glad we found Shalimar! The food was great and the service friendly. We'll def be back!
The food was amazing!!! Their Naan bread is so fresh and soft. The chicken curry made spicy is so delicious and full of flavor. Definitely making this a regular place.
Went to Shalimar today for the lunch buffet. \The food was wonderful, just the right amount of spices. My taste buds was very pleased. The staff there was very kind and courteous. They brought out my naan and mango lassi very quickly. They also expanded their grocery department which was nice to see. Shalimar has a casual decor which is nice to go to.The prices are also very reasonable.
Not a very showy place, but boy do they make up for it with the food! I don't know if the gentleman running the place is the owner or not, but he bent over backwards to make us feel appreciated and wanted. Since we weren't familiar with the cuisine, he took the time to explain it all to us before we ordered. We took the food to go. All the containers sealed the food and sauces inside. No sloppy mess when we got to the truck. The portions were more than we expected considering the more than affordable prices for the entrees we ordered. I had the goat bryani (sp?) and my other half had the goat and spinach marsala. Neither one of us ever had goat and we were curious. The food exploded with flavor and spices like none we had before. The naan stuffed with homemade cheese complement the main course perfectly. And the goat? More tender than lamb and better tasting. Shalimar's definitely proves an old adage right - never judge a book by its cover. We gave it a try not expecting much based on our first impression when we walked in. What we got was five-star service, a master chef quality dinner and all at a low budget price. When we feel like eating something other than the standard American fare or all-you-can-eat Chinese, we have a new place to eat - Shalimar. There's so much on the menu we want to try, I have a feeling we'll be eating there quite often.
Love the lunch buffet!
Excellent food; best Eastern Mediterranean food on Eastern Shore! Takes a while to get it after ordering, but worth it. Atmosphere isn't great-old, worn out cafe style. People are super nice and helpful with ordering. Try the naan...yum!
Seemed like money takers. Prices too high for quality and area.
Awesome food ... We enjoyed on the thank giving holiday .... Taste great .
Delicious
Tried the butter chicken. Not the best butter chicken I ever had.
Delicious Pakistani food. Fresh & delicious naan. Low key. Nothing fancy. And had a great conversation with fellow diners.
The service was excellent and so was the food. Finally a restaurant where spicy means spicy. It makes me regret driving by this little establishment and ever going to a chain restaurant.
If you have not eaten here, do yourself a favor and get over there immediately. The food here is really, really well prepared. The flavors are spot on. The Palak Paneer is the best I've had around this area. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect. The coconut naan is light and slightly sweet with shreds of coconut baked into the bread. The chicken Tikka Masala is flavorful with a little heat and a little sweet. Everything is available for carryout but they do have a nice dining area for dining in.
Food made to order. Ample portions. Reasonable cost. Great tasting authentic Indian food. Enjoyed it!
Excellent customer service... definitely worth trying delicious and tasty food. I would definitely come back here again.
no child friendly menu options. slow service
A small place lacking the traditional atmosphere but wow the food is fantastic. I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s oddly perfect. Try the mango lassi. And if you are a regular he tells you about the special ingredients he has just received like ghost peppers. I was too chicken to try that but it’s spicy enough when I order medium.
2 hour wait time!
Food was ok, but not hot. It's buffet style.
Delicious! Lamb korma and the special somosa were amazing
Very good Indian food great service +good price also Nice & clean place
Amazing kebabs and amazing roast chicken very nice place and setting
Delicious food, great service. Will dine again!
Good taste
I love it
Disappointing for multiple reasons. Food is great, as someone who doesn’t eat Indian food regularly the Briyani and Korma I had during my visits were exquisite. However, after 3 visits (lucky #) the service has been so shoddy it has made it not worth it. 2 out of the 3 visits there was no one to greet us when we arrived. On our first visit after 2-5 minutes of waiting, someone who didn’t speak english popped out of the kitchen, by what feels like an accident. He tried to tell us to wait and ran out the front door. A moment or two later someone (the owner?) showed up tossing a cigarette to the side apologizing for the wait and took our order. While he was nice and accommodating, I have got to admit, it was a terrible first impression. After that everything was fine. Second visit, there was a young man there to help us. Service that time went well and was prompt, however the AC unit seemed to not be working as everyone there, ourselves included, seemed to be sweating profusely. We wound up finishing half our meals, packing up the rest and finishing at home. AC units break, so I wasn’t quite ready to hold that against the establishment but the final visit really put a nail in the coffin. Our final visit was nothing short of a disaster. We walked in a second entrance by accident, it appears they have a market with various spices and goods to purchase however all the goods seems to be spread all over the floor, goods crammed into shelves. It just looked like poorly taken care of space. Even the pay counter was littered with opened bags of chips and candies. A box of prunes sitting next to the others seemed to be open. However, we were there to eat. After previous visits, we knew we could sit wherever we saw fit, so we took our seats near a now working AC unit and embraced the breeze. We waited about 5 minutes hearing chatter in the kitchen, but no one came out to serve us. At that point I was beginning to become frustrated. My wife then went to use the bathroom, with the caveat that if no one came out by the time she came back we would leave. So she went. However, I was hungry and in the mood for the Lamb Biriyani, so I took the initiative to walk over to the kitchen door to get someone’s attention. When I opened the door I saw an old man, who appeared to be asleep and the man from our first visit smoking a cigarette while cooking something over the stove. I also saw a cigarette butt next to him on a table with various ingredients surrounding it. I’m not sure if this is standard in most kitchens, for chefs to be smoking cigarettes while preparing food but that in conjunction with the ashtray/food preparation table made me want to vomit. When he saw me, he immediately tried to conceal the fact that he was smoking a cigarette and walked up to me saying he was sorry and to please have a seat and he’d be right with me. He ran in to the kitchen and immediately came back out apologizing for the wait saying he had a lot of orders and no help for the day. I did not mention to cigarette as I was trying to avoid conflict on an empty stomach. I told him I was waiting for my wife to come out of the bathroom and if we could have some menus and a couple of drinks that’d be great. He grabbed those and ducked back into the kitchen. My wife flanking him as he ran back in. We left the unopened drinks on the table and decided to leave. I do not like leaving negative reviews because often times they can hurt a local buisiness and usually provide very little nuance. However, after several visits I can make, what I think are some very accurate assessments about this restaurant. One, the food is delicious, two while it seems there are employees around to help with the workload (we saw 3 different people during our visit,) there doesn’t seem to be enough consistent help to provide timely service, and finally the chef/ owner seems to be more preoccupied with smoking cigarettes than creating an inviting environment for diners. No one goes out and wants to see cigarettes being used as seasoning. Will check out the spot next to wawa next.
Our car broke down leaving OC. We ended up at the garage nearby. We walked over to get lunch while we waited for repair. The employees (maybe he was the owner) were very nice & sympathetic to our situation. My 1st experience eating Indian food & it was delicious.
First Indian food restaurant I have ever been to, but it is very delicious! They will spice it up (careful what you wish for) or spice it down at your request. The samosas are my wife’s and my favorite! Thank you so much!
The day after Thanksgiving I was driving around looking for something to eat while waiting on my wife's new phone to be updated. I stumbled upon this restaurant/small grocery store. By far the absolute best Indian Restaurant my Wife, Children, and I have ever been to, and we live in the DC Metropolitan Area. It looks like a complete hole in the wall! For 10.99 per person we ate the lunch buffet which is served Tuesday-Friday. Even though there are only 8 items (plus all the fresh hot Naan you can eat), everything had it's own flavor packed into the dish and just the right amount of spiciness. It really may be too spicy for some children, but my 7, 6, and 4 year old loved it! Not only that, they didn't charge me at all for my three kids, he just charged me for my wife and I. All the food was nice and fresh and really just so flavorful! We will definitely be back again, again, and again!!!
The customer service that we receive here is second to none. We go every month or so, and it's always amazing. The staff are so kind and helpful, and they have even suggested that we try additional items (such as on the buffet) for free, just to see if we would like it! The food is amazing, and everything is made to order. I strongly suggest their tikka masala.
From DC and food is delicious over here. It’s a small restaurant + market owned by a kind person. Suggest you to try it out.
Wonderful food ,surpurb flavor! It's small and cozy.
This place is great; the food is really delicious.
Really well prepared chicken shahi korma and palak paneer. Outstanding.
Always delicious and interesting menu selections.
Extremely delicious . Professional.
Authentic, delicious Indian food! The Naan is incredible! You might be put off by the atmosphere the first time (I was,) but the food will keep you coming back. The food will not disappoint!
Delicious veg biryani
Good food and the chef is very passionate about his food, you will not be disappointed
The food and service were outstanding! I will definitely return to this hidden gem in Salisbury, Maryland
Decent Indian food and a good price, buffet style
Food was good but it took an extra half hour of waiting to get it because they just didn't make it. Doesn't make sense because 1) they confirmed my order and 2) it was empty and there were like four workers. Not really worth it.
My favorite Indian food... awesome
Food is great and friendly service! This place is a must for delicious indian food.
I ordered a take out on June 18th, 2016. The Biryani was worst. The rice were broken and looks like it was taken out from refrigerator putted in microwave and packed in to go box. I ordered chicken tikka and I found boneless chicken that was also not cooked properly. Overall it was a bad experience. Will not recommend.
Loved this place! Great food at great prices!
Food is great!!!
The food was delicious and Omar was very friendly!
As always, excellent service and excellent quality of food
The food and service was so good. The first actually spicy dish I've had since coming to the eastern shore.
We were in the middle of a long drive when we found this gem of a restaurant. Staff was courteous and food was delicious. The food here has the proper Indian taste which we crave for. We would visit again.
5 stars seems horribly inadequate. I've been all over the world but could easily move to Salisbury to be close to this fabulous, authentic restaurant. The CTM and palak panzer are out of this world. Wow, wow, wow! !!!!
My wife and I moved to Bethany Beach full time in July. We were in Loudoun County and surrounded by great ethic restaurants. Since moving we have been searching for decent Indian food. If you really enjoy authentic Indian cuisine you will love this place. Its not fancy but it is hands down the best Indian food we have had in this area. Everything is homemade and made to order. We ordered Samosa as an appetizer and knew as soon as we took the first bite that we found "our place".
Love this place. Humble location but great chef in the kitchen. Worth the stop
Great divey indian food. I was the only person in there. The food was great. Dont be turned away by the look of it from outside. its worth checking out.
Food was great
The food is always excellent and have friendly staff, would recommend to any vegetarians or people that like spicy or exotic food.
Delicious!!
Good
We had the goat curry and lamb curry. Amazing food! Just the right amount of spice. Even better than the food (if possible) was the service! So warm and welcoming without being intrusive. They anticipated our every need. Will definitely be back. Very very satisfied customer!
Love it here
Excellent food delicious recipes and good respecting staff I'd say it's the best food in Maryland when it comes to indian pakistani halal food
I got their goat curry and it was very good. The owner was very nice.
Delicious and fresh food with friendly service.
Food was good. I had ordered Chicken Kabab and Chicken biryani. The ambience could have been better.
A hidden gem!
excellent food. I usually call and order and pick up in 15 minutes. although its small but its one of the few places in America where you can get authentic lahori chanay(chickpeas). I eat their chanay at least one a week, as I used to do every weekend in Lahore.i love their Nann(taste like they were really made in clay oven). chicken karahi is very good. very courteous and nice people. they should improve their rice(they should use a different brand/boil it less,),their rice are usually overcooked/broken(unlike lahori food)
Delicious!
A tiny restaurant tucked into a small shopping center with absolutely delicious food. Only wish their lunch buffet offered more choices. Highly reccomend!
Great people great food try chicken tikka masala also naan best naan I have ever tasted also kabab was nice and juicy thanks will visit again guy with glasses was extremely nice thanks
Dirty. Crumbs on the floor where we sit. Stains on the table. Salt shaker had dried food remains on it. It was buffet but we didn’t even enjoy because the filth was so real. Other table had dirty paper plates from previous guests that had yet to be cleaned up. So much for trying something different in this town.
Efforts are Great
super sweet people, very, very good food. goat biryani was perfectly cooked, goat was super tender and delicious, perfect amount of spice. service was excellent! very attentive and welcoming. my vegan sister was very excited by their extensive vegetarian options!
Great
Food was okay. If you don’t order it spicy, seems like they punish you by not adding any seasoning what so ever. I’ve had enough indian food to know that Curry’s don’t have to be spicy to be seasoned and flavorful. That plus the dining area and register are really dirty. Lot of wires and what looks like grounded up coffee beans all over the floor by register. Ok for a hole in the wall kind of place. Definitely wouldn’t dine in. Ordered to go, took about 10 minutes after the time they gave me for to be ready. Shame.
Great place to eat and delicious food!
