This Restaurant corresponds to the category of French restaurant.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch, so keep that in mind. With that being said, it was very busy and there appeared to be only 1 waiter for all of the downstairs. He took forever to get to us. When we went to order we asked for coffee and tea and we were told they didn’t have because they were out of mugs. (Eventually they got clean mugs and gave us our coffee). I ordered an omelette and requested a small substitute to which I was told “No”. The food was very good and the atmosphere was very nice. I’m going to chalk all of this up to a busy and understaffed day. The only other time I went, the food was good and the atmosphere was nice.
Had my traditional birthday lunch here. Greeted warmly, seated promptly, and the meal was delicious as always. Hope to continue celebrating here for years to come. One of my favorite places in Mt. Vernon
A nice and charming place with a happy hour menu and live music. The happy hour menu is pretty inexpensive but could definitely use some improvement in the quality of food. The regular menu has loads of decently priced French dishes, which were well prepared and quite delicious.
Great atmosphere and the salmon is the best in town.
Nice place for great drinks and live jazz. Food is delicious also.
Great place for a meal, wine, and friends. Wait staff is hospitable without being intrusive. Generous portions
Lovely desserts and nice serving staff
I have been to this restaurant a few times now and every time the food and service was excellent. My family and I thought it was crazy that this place had below a 4-star rating, so had to hop on and give this place a good review. The food is tasty and the desserts are probably the best I've had in Baltimore.
Great Happy Hour Horderves, all of them!
Wonderful meal and they fit us in without reservations.
Sitting down to eat at Marie Louise is like a portal to a french bistro. I've never been to France but it is good enough for me! Their almond croissants are awesome and their brunch menu is pretty great! Try the eggs benedict with a hot glass of cocoa, you won't regret it.
I can’t begin to describe my love for these homemade pastries & cakes ❤️ You must experience it for yourself!
The food taste delicious and the place is peacefull!
Experience was great. Staff was on point. Great environment and great drinks. What else can I say.
I want to.say it was great but the food was just ok. Really liked the place and the.people...we will give it another chance. One of our 3 meals was just ok.
Really cool spot. Great for a drink.
The most delicious meal I have ever had in Baltimore. The scallops I had were cooked to perfection.
Had a wonderful time, Just fine dinning @ it's Best! 5 *****......
This is a lesser know asset in Baltimore's restaurant scene. I generally come here for breakfast meetings during the week and brunch on the weekends with family. The setting is quite beautiful and unique, the food is very good, the service is very attentive and friendly and their baked on-site pastries and breads are off-the-rails.... There really is a Marie Louise and she is a delight and is building a really nice operation there.. Very nice place...
Excellent wine selection and delicious pastries.
Nice atmosphere, slow service and mediocre cuisine.
From the decor, to the service, to the food... absolutely amazing. The bouillabaisse was the best thing I've tasted in a LONG time! Everything was plated perfectly and tasted even better than it looked.
This is what happens when no one on your staff is actually French. A hodge-podge of non-French "smiling faces" serving "sub-par" lukewarm food---along with cheap coffee and "gone-wrong" dessert. My husband and I were there for their pre-set Thanksgiving Menu this year and we were truly hopeful of enjoying a delicious three-course meal. Sadly, it was underwhelming. The salad was flavorless (how can anyone mess up salad!); the turkey was rubbery (Costco-ish) and served without heat; the so-called pumpkin pie dessert was more like a milky recipe from India. Ugh! Over $100 later, still hungry for a satisfying meal, we left---with mangled faces.
Very good food, bt never come in rush hour
Coffee and pastries... just perfect
Wonderful food, great service, interesting drinks, and exquisite desserts. I've been coming here for almost 10 years and took my wife here on our first date. If you're in Mt. Vernon and are looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further.
Great little bistro. Attentive staff. Save room for dessert.
Food and service were just OK. Got the duck leg confit and the hanger steak. Neither were bad, but neither were great. Manhattan was well made though.
The food is simply amazing and very reasonably priced. You will not find a better French bistro in all of the city. Our waiter was extremely polite and catered to our every need. You will find the best French onion soup here as well.
One of the best places in Baltimore. Really nice service and great food.
Wonderful food. Fabulous service. A great date location
the portions are small, but good flavor, nice service
Great food and wine selection. I stop here when I'm passing through Baltimore.
Good place to have a coffee & a piece of cake :-)
Great atmosphere, beautiful building, fantastic desserts!
It was an okay experience for my boyfriend and myself.Upon entering this bistro I eagerly greeted the first employee I saw with a simple hello,he didn't bother to reply but just smiled.I found it lazy for someone to be working in this type of industry to be like that.Anyways I had the lamb burger,it was amazing. It had very distinct and unique flavours. My boyfriend ordered something else completely different,it was duck but I don't remember the name.According to him it was good but we noticed the portion was way too small. The cocktail was also great. The waiter was nice and attentive. It was a Tuesday evening and the place was crowded.Somewhat pricey but for special occasions is justified.
Mediocre at best. We came for brunch. The crab omelette that I ordered was literally made of eggs and crab meat. No herbs, special spices, or imagination. It tasted fine, but I hope for a little more than that when going out to eat. It came with 4-5 small cubes of pineapple and one slice of toasted white bread. Really? At a French bistro? The service was okay but could have been more attentive and friendly considering that the place wasn't so busy. The front of the house near the entrance looked cute(ish) but the back where we sat was devoid of any charm.
Phenomenal! I've been here for dinner and coffee take out and both were amazing. The Cafe Miel is totally worth getting - it's an amazing latte with honey and cinnamon and perfect for fall!
Nice restaurant on Charles Street in Baltimore. Good food and service
Sat upstairs at the bar. Friendly bartender, great steak. Overall a great experience!
A diamond in the rough! Superb menu, with meticulously prepared food in a beautifully designed restaurant. Highly recommended.
Delicious food above average service and congeniality.par excellence
Food is good but entrees are over priced. Service okay. All said, I would still return when I crave French cuisine with in walking distance.
We were surprised how good everything was.
I think is a nice very cute place to sit around, the food is good as well the service slacked a bit but it's not the normal. Probably just a rough day
I've enjoyed dozens of dining experiences here over a decade. It's a cornerstone of elegance in the neighborhood.
Superb spot to kick back and relax or settle into a passionate conversation. The almond croissants are incredible.
Warm - Inviting - Great Menu - Friendly atmosphere
I love the spot. it's exactly what I would expect if a Bristro in France.
Marie Louise Bistro is, first things first, delightful. It is also larger than it looks from the outside -- don't be put off! There is plenty of room inside as the seating goes well back into the building. The food is delightful — continental, of course, but with a few unexpected delights such as a truly Southern shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. (My table mate said it was the best grits ever!) Lovely baked goods round out the options. I was there for Sunday brunch but it won't be the last time for that or something later in the day.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. We used to go here all the time for amazing French food and the best desserts and service, now everything was just,in a word... awful. Went with five friends and spent 450$ on drinks, apps, entrees, dessert and coffee and nothing was memorable. The scallops were even freeze dried! If I'm going to pay $25 for five scallops they should be better quality, or at least say they are frozen on menu! the staff was rude and the manager, I assume, thought of us as an inconvenience. When we had issues with charges (wrongly added) to our bill it took literally 90 minutes to sort out our bill and the manager never said anything positive or remorseful to us. Needless to say we will not be returning. They are obviously they are in their way out.
Honestly. The desserts are good. Drinks are okay. This used to be our favorite neighborhood hang out but it has really gone downhill. I would get dessert to go from there and maybe happy hour drinks if I needed a place to sit outside but frankly they are much better places in the neighborhood to support. Not sure what happened to Marie Louise
Nice and kind waiter but awful waitress. Right when we walk in, the waitress kind of lookinf down on us. Afterward she wont even come and take order after she realize it was away order. I believe it is not this restaurant who taught her to be this unkind since the waitor is so nice and good manner. The bakery is goos tho. Btw the waitress shift is Sat Dec 22nd 9:40 pm.
Eat here often most days are better than others. Good menu great desserts
All around amazing food. Personally I love to stop in an get pastries and coffee on my way home. One of my favorite spots hands down.
The upstairs bar is cool
Excellent pastries, coffee and service. Slow in getting coffee drink.
Delicious food, excellent desserts, superb service!
Delicious french onion soup! Quiet, relax environment. Lower floor it's perfect for a cup of coffee with some french pastries.
A favorite since they opened. Had a great dinner there tonight
Best tiramisu I've had so far.
Really good food and great atmosphere! Reminds me a little of Louies bookstore Cafe without the books. Remember that? I think you'll really like it here!
Absolutely fantastic! The bacon quiche was the best I've ever eaten.
Great service, fantastic staff. Able to enjoy 2 of my favorites Manhattans and DeLord!
I was there Saturday evening to check it out and listen to the musical entertainment of Marcus Dagan. The food was excellent, as was the service and the entertainment. I had the 3 course dinner. The shrimp cocktail featured jumbo shrimp that were awesome. The main course was the jumbo sea scallops that were delicious. Dessert was cheesecake topped with berries, yummy. All that was accompanied by the haunting voice of Marcus singing old standards to the receptive house audience. A great evening all together. I’ll definitely be back.
The food was wonderful. The food comes out a little slower than I am used to which was nice because I wa actually able to finish my salad before my steak showed up. The desserts were also very tasty. All four of us loved it. Definitely somewhere to go again!
The atmosphere is beautiful! Food is good also.
Superb service, excellent patisserie and great seating.
Really sub-par food, staff was friendly and working hard but slow/clearly don’t have a great system in place, the French onion soup was pretty bland and the croissant sandwich I ordered had the dryest ham I’ve ever seen...it was like eating jerky. There are way better options for food in baltimore at the same price point.
Classy place for lunch or coffee. Desert case is a study in temptation.
Great beef bourguignon and COC au VIN and fantastic desserts all homemade by their owner pastry chef. Fair pricing and a good wine selection. Monday night is Martini night
Good food and service.
I throughly enjoyed the bagel and lox.
Very quiet, nice mid-day meeting spot...
Amazing coffee drinks!
Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, and wonderful service. We had a very tasty brunch accompanied by great live music. Whether stopping by for a full meal or coffee and a pastry, a welcome cafe in Baltimore
Food was excellent and big portions!
We had up and sadly a few down experiences with this place. We still get the good french food we expect for their prices but it now needs fixes and returns to get what we order (we wonder how difficult it is for example to get a poached egg right the first time). The deserts are still excellent.
Great food, friendly staff, live classic music. You cannot go wrong.
Great pumpkin cheesecake! Lovely place...
Well, 1st. and last for me. Did not enjoy the food. Bagels were brick hard. I did not like the service with that specific waitress. Thanks.
Great Atmosphere..Awesome Service, Food &Drinks@!@
Pleasant environment with standard service but very friendly staff. A bit noisy and can be cramped. Food is tasty, not exceptional and presentation is average. Wine was served in a sub-standard size and quantity. Very nice selection of deserts. Not too pricey. Would go back again.
Love the food. Love the prices. Love the staff. And love the live jazz!
Didn't care for the food choices. Ended up getting a garden salad. Dressing was good but there was virtually none on it I only had one bite that had a hint of it. The tables and chairs need some tlc (i suggest using a stripper instead of sanding and to stain it twice with something a little less dark and red then put poxy on top)
Upstairs tucked away made Marie Louise a great late night date night spot..with EXCELLENT service.
Nice place for lunch and leave room for dessert
Great food and service.
Always a wonderful experience...both meal snd service.
Delicious, good beer, good wine, amazing food! Had a great time for. My girlfriends birthday.
4.5 enjoyed it.
Excellent kitchen, quiche is outstanding, but our waiter didn't propose us the breakfast menu and in general didn't pay much attention to us.
Very good food! Great environment and location too
Not a great experience. We've dined at Marie Louise Bistro three times before, and really enjoyed the food and service. We made reservations for Mother's Day expecting the same. It wasn't very nice though. In spite of reservations, we had to take a table at the very front (which we were told was available because others wouldn't sit there). By explanation, we were told it was Mother's Day, implying that we should not expect too much. Service was slow - we ordered coffee while we waited, only one of which arrived. When food did begin to arrive, the soup was inadequately heated and we were provided with no bread (different from previous occasions); my request for bread never resulted in any. It just kept getting worse; we finally cancelled our order (which finally arrived as we left!), paid for drinks, and took off. We drove to another restaurant and had a lovely experience, in spite of a wait for a table. Mother's Day must be a challenge for a restaurant. I had the impression that the staff at Marie's were having a tough day coping with the crowd. That can happen to anyone. But that wasn't our fault, but that I felt was reflected onto us when we complained about our experience. We won't be back, as much as we enjoyed our previous meals at Marie's.
Great brunch ! Great lunch and dinner! Or even take out coffee with the best croissants I have ever had. (Fries too) Service is always friendly, quick and helpful. Food is constantly delicious.
Good French cuisine
Slow service. We told our server we were going to the Meyerhoff for a show and would like to order quickly. This didn't seem to matter to him. Good food though if you're not in a hurry it's a good place for a leisurely dinner or drinks.
This place is very fancy and beautiful, very clean and well kept. The chocolate mousse was the best dessert I've ever had, I almost cried after my first bite. The cheesecake was amazing too!
I visited this restaurant on My birthday. I was really pleased on the décor of the place. The menu had many options for me to choose from. I kept My meal choice simple . As I took the 1st bite my eyes widen with pleasure. Since I could not finish my meal I was able to have it packaged for later. I did not Want to disappoint my host so I assured him that every single bite was perfect. For right now this will be my future Birthday spot to enjoy a very delicious meal and drink. I thank the restaurant for really making my day.
This place truly is a joke for French cuisine most items are frozen or pre made days in advance. The staff is incompetent at best. The owner selfish and greedy, bottom line a chain like la Madeline does a better job..
I've been several times to Marie Louise Bistro, on Charles St., Baltimore City. It is with no doubt one of my favorite places for dessert - they have all kinds of delicious and elegant french desserts, pastries, cheesecakes, pies... You will not regret having a dessert in this place. Sometimes, when I am with friends, we just order a bunch of different desserts and we share them, so that each one of us can taste the delicious variety. The decoration is beautiful, the service is very good, and with good weather the tables and chairs outside are just lovely. It is a really nice and pleasent place to go. I just think it is expensive for a full meal. The prices are very high for dinner, and for brunch I already paid a lot to get a small quantity of food. You will get quality, not quantity, pay a high price, but at least everything will be delicious. Enjoy!
Pretty good food and ambiance.
Full disclosure: the owner is a friend. But the food is very good, the cocktails are well-crafted and generous, and the prices are good. And there is occasionally live jazz.
It is a pretty chilled place to have dinner, but prices are overly expensive for that standard.
What a fantastic place to have Sunday brunch! The live music was excellent! The food is simply delicious and great quality. Overall great
Romantic place, great food and amazing wine
Fantastic food and great wine list!
The service was beyond poor waiting an hour for ham and cheese croissants and a crabcake. The waiter had the audacity to say it was because they had to cook the crabmeat. The food was very mediocre. The crabmeat was not lump as advertised, but stringy and not tasty. I will not be going back.
Awesome everything!!!! Guy serving was super busy but still took good care
Fine dining at reasonable prices. Excellent service and the food was exquisite. Can't beat the location, in the heart of Mt. Vernon. Just a few minutes stroll to the Walter's, Peabody's, the Washington Monument, etc... Stop by for pastries and coffee, head upstairs for a drink or enjoy a splendid meal.
Delicious food and desserts. I wish I could give 4.5 stars because the service isn't always great (sometimes I feel like I'm not noticed by the person at the front and kind of have to grab their attention), but sometimes the service is extra amazing, so I feel like it sort of events itself out. Hopefully you get the amazing servers if you visit. ;) The bar upstairs is also a fun place to hang with a few friends. It's not that big, but the bartender we always got is great at helping you figure out what you want and is also just super friendly. I would definitely recommend visiting Marie Louise, whether it be for dinner, just dessert, or a drink!
This place was recommended by the Basilica. What a treat! Quick seating...excellent service and great food! Banana Foster French Toast...the Waffles and Chicken...the Antipasto Sandwich...the almond croissant...amazing! Great Job Marie Louise Bistro!
Used to be a 5 star place, used to have great food, drinks, & service. Now all 3 are sloppy.
Drinks and pastries are great .. The happy hour menu food could be better for the price.
My wife and I really liked this place.
From the bottom of my heart don't come here. Service is good but thats about it. I love french food and its many american spin offs but this aint it. claimed to be seasonal but served me zucchini in the winter, the dryest duck confit of my life with tasteless bechemel. Decorations were outright tacky and mismatched. Desserts were likewise mediocre. The pricepoint sets up expectations that it does not deliver and i feel that it is inflated by the fancy exterior, location, and pretext of being french but time and time again disappoints.
Feel be offended although the duck salad was fine. Wrong info on the web and when I asked what’s the difference between upstairs and downstairs, the staff said no. However, actually yes. The happy hour is only for people upstairs.
A quiet, cozy place to get a delicious meal. This place isn't usually crowded and has great service and ambiance.
At a glance, it has the appearance of a small bakery. Once you walk in, the second floor gives a feeling of fine dining. Would recommend for a nice night out
If I could, this would be a 3.8! Really lovely service. Half price wines on Wednesday. A lovely evening. Steak tartar was our favorite dish. The fish of the day was pricey and a little overcooked.
Friendly and attentive service. I ordered salmon and risotto, perfectly cooked and delicious. Great cocktails; I have to recommend the 'Slice of Life'. Best tiramisu I've ever had in my life.
Good food, somewhat pricy. Having the fine-dining part right next to the cafe is a little strange.
Delicious good with great music!
Cozy loft bar, nice menu, and nightly specials.
Excellent service
The patrons as cool, welcoming, a true neighborhood restaurant and bar. The cuisine is consistently good and wine selection is approachable, not taxing. I love this place.
Makes me feel like I'm in Le Marais!
