This Restaurant is included in the category of French restaurant.
A classic. I’m from Denver, where a restaurant is considered French if it serves fries. Whenever I’m in the DC area This is my place. An institution and a classic, a place where wait staff, like Miguel, have served patrons with class and style for 20+ years. All the great French classics on the menu along with contemporary updates. Nice atmosphere with live piano in background. Nice but not crazy costly wine list and lots of free parking. Hits all the marks.
For New Year's Eve fixed price menu, the food was quite good, but the service wasn't quite what I would expect given the reputation and price. I would try it again off the regular menu, but not for another mass event.
This is a wonderful restaurant with exceptional food and excellent staff. They are attentive and accommodating. The ambiance is quite nice. We keep going back.
It is like being transported back to Europe when you enter (after having lived in Germany). The escargot was delicious. I ordered scallops as my entreé which were cooked perfectly. The best part was the cremé brûlée which was to die for! Service was extremely on top of things and I will definitely be back.
Wow! Great food, good service, no parking issues and a quaint quiet setting. What more could you ask for?
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food, lovely presentation. Gorgeous flowers.
Superb food in a lovely atmosphere.
Great food and service and the place was full. Popular for good reason.
Still among the area's best French bistros. Great quiet setting.Excellent service. Fine music. Top notch all around.
Bon Appetit
Great place for a family gathering or large dinner party. Ask for the upstairs room.
Excellent French food in a charming environment. Only complaint was service - very very slow
Great Food with slow service.
Five stars for the environment three for the food.
The best place in town for birthday celebrations.
This was only my second experience of French cuisine, but I loved the Chicken liver terentine and poached pair. The restaurant is very well managed, making it a great place for a.large party or wedding reception.
All around a great dining experience. You pay a lot and you get your money’s worth. The bread, French onion soup and soufflés were all superb.
Uh. I can't give a 1-star review because they use quality ingredients, but they are so stuffy. Also, our waiter checked on us maybe twice during the whole meal and got my order wrong. Food was lukewarm, very rich, too complicated, and underwhelming. For the price, I'd give it maybe 2 stars.
This amazing place is over 32 years old. The staff are amazing and the food is impeccable. It's so well priced and the daily specials are lovely! The bar is aptly named Cognac and the barman Mark is a delight to chat with! Would definitely return and keep coming!
Good food and kind staff
I give 5 stars. Everything that I ordered was delicious!
Old fashioned in a good sense, classic french
Reservations a must
A hidden gem! Come hungry. The food is amazing! Great ambiance. Excellent service.
We had an exquisite beef carpaccio appetizer, as well as pork chops, seafood risotto and NY steak entrees. The chocolate mousse and cream cheese pound cake were very, very good also. Service and ambiance were top notch. Warning though, you could end up spending your car payment.
Great food
Slow service. Good food but sadly not close to actuall french food.
They had rancid oil in the table lamps, couldn't eat anything
Absolutely beautiful environment with food that lives up to expectations. Very romantic and located in a residential area giving it a secluded getaway feel.
bug ran across the table (and into my soup) a while ago and i still had to pay for the food
Friendly wait staff served the most tender and juicey Steak Frites Bordelaise ever! I will definitely be back!
Some really amazing food. Service is mostly excellent.
Food was great. Ambience was authentic. Food was great as well. Restrooms were not clean, which is why I gave 4 stars
Had a party of 21 people to entertain. The staff at la ferme did a great job. The food arrived in a coordinated timely fashion, which was not an easy feat, and it was delicious...and of course, their souflee was outstanding.
Food was amazing, the desert was amazing, the place was authentic but service was horrible, the waitress have no skill to service, poor the wine out the wine glass, never askind with need something.. Service was horrible
a very nice french style restaurant, very secluded, very quiet and and very cool interior, f huge fireplace, massive looking bar and couple small tables in the loft. we were there noon on sunday and got their three course brunch. my meal was totally awesomely good. not a terrible price either. will be going back for further investigation (eating) . first time visit left me / a very good impression
Authentic French restaurant, pricey, the crowd is older 60+. Food quality is good. Their soufflé is good. They recently opened a bar and it seems to be working.
I can't think of a better restaurant for a savory dinner in a pleasant atmosphere with a top notch wait staff.
A fancy, expensive restaurant should have flawless service. The food was good but we were rushed to order, rushed to finish, and given the bill before we asked and WHILE we were eating our dessert. The restaurant was not sold out so we were not rushed in an effort to turn over our table. There were plenty of tables.
Delightful and charming French Restaurant. Old world influences everywhere. Service was efficient and food was delicious.
Great service
Our server was excellent as was our meal! Although or first time there, it is definitely a place to return to.
Consistently delicious.
Excellent!
Aging restaurant with good food but quite pricey for what it is.
Great food. Excellent service.
One of our favorites...love the souffles!!!!
Great food but service is a little slow
Always a delightful experience!
Wonderful food and service. Very convenient parking.
Priceless. Excellent food inviting interior attentive staff, a jewel of a restaurant
We had Thanksgiving dinner at La Ferme last night. The food was amazing, with several selections to choose from. I would definitely recommend this establishment.
A fabulous dinner for our party of 10. Everything from risotto to leg of lamb to crab cakes and seared tuna—. All cooked to perfection! The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. The music was lively. A real asset in the community!
delicious
Best food and service ever.
Bland, zero creativity food. Poor presentation for a supposed French restaurant.
Service was extremely SLOW. Very limited staff for outside area resulting in numerous attempts for water refill. Drinks for children forgotten as well as beverage for adult. On site manager came to table and advised of slow/poor service immediately began to argue with customer that the children were passing ketchup and thought adults still eating. The food was good BUT POOR SERVICE AND HIGH PRICE FOOD makes this a POOR CHOICE for diner. Many other restaurants in area we will go to and NEVER RETURN!!!!
Great luncheon experience! Perfect place to impress clients or employees.
Great places to go for lunch with dear friends who want to hear each other talk and linger over lunch. Very professional staff.
the food & dessert
My wife and I shared our anniversary dinner at La Ferme. The food was great; but, the staff made the experience really special.
The food was sublime, one of the better meals I've had in recent memory. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that they listed gluten-free and vegan options on their TripAdvisor page when in fact nothing met those requirements without significant modification. Other than that small thing it was a fantastic dining experience.
Best food and Executive chef (Mr. Chambers) I know!!! Love the food and the atmosphere of this elegant restaurant. (The food won my children over. They love this restaurant.)
Good food. Great service
Good good and drinks.
Excellent!!! Best French food in Chevy Chase
Long time French restaurant in quiet Chevy Chase neighborhood. La Ferme just added a swanky bar and lounge to attract a younger set - the thirty and forty somethings that is. The bar was lively on a Wednesday night with lots of 1% moms out for a glass of wine or two.
Excellent food in an elegant setting. Definitely a dress-up kind of place. Terrific service. The piano player was terrific and not overpowering.
Great for birthday parties or a small romantic dinner. It is more for adults and the food is excellent. They have a piano player that takes requests. A good place to dine, I would suggest reservations.
Amazing food.
This is convenient to North West DC, Bethesda and Silver Spring but just enough out of the way to give it an almost rural atmosphere located on a two lane road just over the DC Maryland line. The food is well prepared and graciously served. It's not a place with unique or cutting edge mashups of several cuisines. It's motes of the somewhat traditional Franch cuisine, and done well. The tables are not squished together and the sound level allows for normal conversation.
We had a great time. Everyone was nice.
great food and service
Great food, great service, LOVELY restaurant!
the best French restaurant inside the beltway. Always bustling not with tourists but with real locals. On a typical night you’ll hear Happy Birthday played half a dozen times by the live pianist on the floor. Francophone staff adds to the authenticity of the service and the meals served. Staff will recommend certain items to be ordered early on to ensure their readiness by the time we are ready. Excellent all around. One can see why the restaurant needs no large street level signs to entice further business.
Lamb chops and the warm chocolate pudding(? I forgot what it's called) were one of the best! :) cozy and romantic atmosphere and perfect for date nights.
I made reservations to celebrate not only my 2 year anniversary with the wife but also take advantage of Valentine's day. We arrive at our reservation time and were promptly greeted and sat right away! Thumbs up already...Our waiter, Miguel, treated us like we were the only two in a place where there was no empty seat. Pianist playing magnificently in the background setting the tone just right for our night. The food: Exquisite, tender, juicy, heavenly, delectable are just some of the words I can use to describe these pleasurable meals we had.First the appetizer; Assortiment de Charcuterie...a tease of what's to come. Filet Mignon for her and the Suprémes de volaille au Porto for me. If you want to have an elegant dinner for all and any occasion or just a night out with your loved one, then look no further than La Ferme.
Love this place. Excellent service. Great wine selection. Good, solid French food. Highly recommend for a nice evening out.
Great
Food was great. One server was trying hard speaking in French. I don’t speak French I just wanted to eat some French food.
We went to La Ferme last Friday night and had a blast!! We were greeted by a lovely hostess who escorted us to the most beautiful table in the restaurant. Upon entering you feel like you've stepped into a restaurant off the streets of New York City, it's beautifully decorated with stunning chandeliers, swanky art and ethereal draping. The staff were knowledgable, prompt, and friendly... Surprising for a brand new restaurant! It would be the perfect place for a private event such as a bridal shower, birthday or anniversary, there's even a private table hidden to the side for special occasions. If you're not in the mood for a dining room experience, there's an amazing bar too! We can't wait to take friends and family! 5 stars all the way!!
Great food. But I'm not sure that the waiters speak French.
Very few vegitairian/vegan dishes and dissapointing food, especially for the price. I got average service.Atmosphere is all right, I guess. Appitizer: Tiny mesculun salad, too many dried peppers, not enough greens. Main dish: Salad with cheese, mushrooms, greens, and noodles. Too much butter, too much salt. My vegan friend got cheese on hers despite requests to not have any. Desert: I got two. Sorbet in a large, fortune-cookie shell and chocolate soufle. The sorbet was all right, but quite small. The shell was not very good. The sorbet was all right, but definately not worth $8. My meal cost around $50. I could have made a better meal at home (I'm not exactly a master chef) for less than a quarter of the price. Conclusion: avoid unless you're very wealthy, have a need to prove your wealth to whoever you are dining with, and eat meat with almost every meal.
Very elegant
I always make it a stop for lunch when I'm in the area! Service is always top-notch. Ambiance is calming and relaxing. Food never disappoints.
The food quality has significantly declined from my last two visits, the cuts of meat and fish have been low grade, not fresh and poorly prepared. Huge disappointment since I have dinned at this exceptional restaurant for over two decades with only great experiences. I truly hope they fix their kitchen issues, if I ever plan to return.
Great as always. Very good food, very good service and quiet for easy conversation
We absolutely loved this place! The setting really make you feel removed from the city life. Everyone there provided outstanding service. The food was top-notch culinary. It was my wife's birthday and I expected a candle. When they brought it they romantically played happy birthday on the piano. I get goosebumps just thinking about how romantic it was. I will definitely return and highly recommend La Ferme.
Excellent food. Superb service.
Delicious foie gras appetizer, The filet was perfection accompanied with truffle fries, vegetables and a naughty side of au gratin potatoes Ending with a simply Devine Chocolate Souffle..
Very good experience; food was excellent; service was good; atmosphere was very welcoming and inviting.
Great place! Great food! Great service!! Just celebrated my third year anniversary with my wife and she loved the attention, the detail and what it represents, shes also very satisfied, defenetly i would recommend this place to everybody!
Lovely neighborhood gem. Outstanding Frenxh cuisine.
La Ferme Restaurant I decided to review this lovely restaurant since I been coming here for few years now. I love everything about here, the food the service the parking the restrooms are always clean ! To me this place is just so cozy .
Slow service, tough steak.
The atmosphere is really mind blowing, great food and service!
Very nice atmosphere, they have pianist with nice music, really good food.
Lovely environment. Must have been fabulous in its heyday. But, the lobster bisque was off. Thick with an undesirable skin. My son's cod was white on white on white with diced tomatoes thrown on as if the chef looked at it and said, "Oops." To be fair, there was a large party taking up the main dining room. It may have been an off night.
Enjoyed LeBar on a Friday night. I felt like I was in another country - so relaxing. And delicious!
This elegant and welcoming French restaurant is great for pairs or groups for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Their new Cognac Bar in the back is a great place to grab a drink and take advantage of their amazing menu at the same time. Great for meetups.
Food ambiance and piano music were perfect . A real find in Chevy Chevy and a plus is the ample parking.
While this is a place where the elegant meet for lunch and dinner, it is well priced with very good food. Out of the Way, so it is a great spot to bring a friend to have a quiet meal. Yes, in the day in age when places are noisy, this one is not.
Great food beautiful location wonderful service. Definitely will go back.
Fabulous.
Food and service outstanding - 1st time there, will definitely be on my list to go back to a few times a year.
I'm guessing you are dining with the Queen or married Bobby Flay or Marcus Samuelsson if you rated this anything less than 5 stars. This food was delectable, unique, fabulous selection and variety of dishes, fit for the Queen. I love it, and the environment so warm and accommodatingly formal. I had the chicken and the salmon tartare. It was my first visit, next time I'll take one of everything. Really delightful presentation and wonderful service, the service alone would bring me back but the food is outrageous. Such a keeper and nice quiet location. The piano playing was like having your cake and eating it too, to go with the phenomenal food. My absolute favorite in years. My last favorite was Bolo in NYC. New flavors, new fun, it deserves every star. Thank you La Ferme for such an exquisite meal and all the comfort of solid service to go with it. Loved it, can't say it enough here or anywhere.
Great food but I wish the service was a tad bit faster.
The experience here was very refined and quiet. A live pianist played while we ate, and we had several servers tending to us constantly. Most were polite but avoided eye contact, which caught me off guard, but they never let our drinks go empty and were always courteous. The food was well presented. We all got starters -- salads and soups -- that were delicious. For dinner, I got the open ravioli, which was all right, and my husband got the pork chop, which he said he enjoyed. Our family friend dining with us got the cod. Everything was well-plated and looked delicious. And the desert souffles! My goodness, wow. I devoured mine. Highly recommended. You need to order at the beginning of the meal, since they take so long to cook, but I promise you it's worth it. I got the amaretto souffle, which was light with a hint of sugar. Yum.
Super nice service they make you feel very welcome and the food is great!!!
Nice happy hour drinks and food. Nice restaurant.
Ok
Classic French, beautifully done. Attention is paid to ingredients, prep and presentation. Service can be leisurely when they are busy, but that's OK. Be sure to tip the pianist.
Nice food excellent service
What a pleasant discovery La Ferme proved to be! With the help of my three co-attendees I was able to sample four quite different meals. All proved sooo good. I ended up most enjoying my mushoom 'ooen' ravioli dish. There's a choice between a cozy charming dining room and an airy sun room. Our waiter was the perfect blend of personality and discretion. The only 'drawback' was the live singer - talented but distracting from the table conversation I preferred.
A classic traditional french restaurant in nice old enlarged house. Reasonably priced lunch menu, especially given the main courses were nice portions.
Great food! For dessert, try the sorbet! (Seriously)
Great French food in a cozy atmosphere
Fantastic ambiance and decor. Experienced friendly service. Excellent French menu and beverages. Say "hi" to Pino, for he is the best!
The place serves big dishes and for reasonable prices. very friendly staff. Will visit again.
The food was great. The service lovely .
This lot would not know French food if it hit them in the face
Still a great spot for french food. Ive been eating here for 30 years.
I send everyone there, may favorite place.
Always a delight. It is quiet enough so that one can carry on a conversation, even with those that are hard of hearing, with ease.
Sunday brunch was in this comfortable setting for people of a certain age. A little pricey for what was well-made, but familiar, simple dishes.
Best French restaurant in Bethesda Chevy Chase area. Great food and service in quiet relaxing atmosphere. Free parking too!
Wonderful restaurant. Great food. Make sure you order the souffle! Lovely staff.
Food and service is always great. The souffles are a must for desert. You have to order the souffle when you order your meal to avoid a wait. Pleasant piano music in the evening. La Ferme is also a great place for Sunday brunch and special occasions.
Great food and the service was great.
Definitely stands the test of time. Ate here 12 years ago for a celebratory dinner and carried fond memories. Had brunch there a week ago to celebrate my stepmother's 80th birthday and was very satisfied. They have an extensive brunch menu with many sweet and savory options. I had sweet crepes which were so soft and tender and airy. I love the French provencal atmosphere of the restaurant inside an out. Brings a bit of the French countryside to a busy metropolitan area. I hope my next visit doesn't take another 12 years to occur!
Excellent, as always! Delicious filet with red wine sauce, very nice tuna steak, always order the potatoes au gratin, but the crowning glory are the suffles!! Caution: natural fireplace keeps the restaurant warm!
This was an incredibly romantic and exquisite restaurant. Food, service, atmosphere, etc. were all top-notch
Great happy hour deals and all around good bistro
Delightful
This place was so charming! The ambience was so nice. Country french. There were fresh flowers at the table and a beautiful orb candle next to them. The waiters were so nice and the food was great too. There was a live piano player playing "the best songs ever" according to his book. And they really were. I would 100% come back. I will say we were the youngest in the restaraunt, but it really wasn't a problem. Just an interesting observation. I got the deconstructed giant ravioli. I would have eaten it forever if I could!
Fantastic live music on Monday nights!
Tasty.
Wonderful atmosphere, ambiance, and food. I can't believe I didn't know about this place until now. My only complaint was the service. It seemed like most of the customers were "regulars" so they got all the attention from the waiters. Do yourself a favor and order the chocolate souffle. It was amazing. I'm normally underwhelmed by desserts, but this was absolutely delicious. It takes a while to prepare so you have to order the souffle when you order your main entree. Definitely worth it!
La Ferme is a very nice restaurant where you should go when in the mood to get dressed for dinner and linger over drinks while listening to the live piano. It is not a family place (oops, we should have read up before bringing our 5 year old who, fortunately was well-behaved). Also, if you are under 65, you will likely be the youngest people in the room. The food is decadent French, rich, with wonderful sauces. We liked everything we had very much. The portions are right and flavors well-balanced. The souffles are worth the wait - especially the Grand Marnier one, which is perfect. Really sublime. Two areas left something to be desired... The first was the wine. Typically a glass of Sancerre transports to Heaven (especially at the high price!) This one was just pretty good. The Cabernet Sauvignon was also fine but not great. With so many fantastic wines out there, it was disappointing to be underwhelmed. Also, our waiter, after taking our initial order, basically ignored us. Maybe it's because he figured out we weren't the people who were going to order cocktails, an expensive bottle of wine, and after dinner drinks like so many around us seemed to be, but it's not like we ordered fries and a green salad. We spent over $200 for 3 people. Other servers helped us out, but it was not pleasant to be ignored. Otherwise, the ambiance was lovely, the pianist charming, and we had a very nice time.
Excellent food nicely prepared to the way one likes and service was impeccable!
Such great staff, especially Mark the bartender! The most perfect Cosmo is made by him!
This place is very nice and feels like a neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows eachother. We had a nice dinner here, it was romantic and the service and food was excellent. The wine list was very good with several by the glass options as well as extensive bottle options. We had a bottle of sancerre.
Definitely a part of the 'Top Ten Most Agreeable Meals I've Ever Had' column in life's ledger book!
If you want to take your date to a romantic French restaurant this is for you great food.
The food, wine and service was excellent. We will be back.
^_^ BuleStory review for La Ferme Restaurant
Best food, kind staff, regularly great atmosphere. They charge fair prices and the food quality is awesome. Great work.
Very nice place in a secluded location
