Here we offer you the opinions of real people like you who used the products of Kadhai - Indian Restaurant (Restaurant) in Maryland area.
Nowadays this firm receives a rating of 4.2 stars over 5 and the score has been calculated on 500 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is good, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the valuation is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to put tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Indian restaurant.
Great selection of vegetarian options. Insanely large portions when you order the food to go. Two dishes were enough for four meals.
Excellent buffet!
The place is good but sometimes even after mentioning the spice level they mess it up. Overall, it is one of the better places for Indian cuisines.
Best, most flavorful buffet in recent memory.
Pretty good outlet for Indian food in Bethesda area.
Fantastic Indian restaurant in downtown Bethesda. Lovely white tablecloths, buffet lunch was well stocked with traditional dishes. Enjoyed a refreshing, fresh Mango Lassi while having a leisurely lunch with a friend. Never rushed. Accommodated both larger groups of office workers out to lunch, and friends out for a chat. Excellent food, half the buffet was Vegetarian and the other half was not, making it easy to choose. Everything was labeled with the names and ingredients for the uninitiated. Convenient public parking lot right around the corner.
Good buffet options. Service is excellent. I like the food. Ample room to accommodate a wheelchair.
The food is below average. Good place to sit and enjoy some drinks with some starters. Good luck with the entrees.
Great FOOD buffet is DELICIOSO!!!
I don't understand these positive reviews. For many years, we ate at Haandi, this restaurant's predecessor with only one complaint in all that time- the rogan josh sauce was white and tasted as bland as the unfortunate color, which should've been a vibrant red0brown, but, if you simply didn't order the lamb curry, everything else was delicious and there was a lot of it as the portions were huge. Having been to the new restaurant several times, once to the buffet and a few times for dinner with friends, it was still our favorite Indian restaurant, so I felt safe ordering delivery a few weeks ago. What a tragedy! When I say that the entire meal was inedible, I am not exaggerating at all; we threw out everything. Into the trash went the tandoori chicken which somehow happened to be dry as a bone and still uncooked and red-raw at the center; chicken masala, whose sauce was perhaps the worst thing I've ever put into my mouth; lamb biriyani, which I'd imagine is a tough one to mess up, but, somehow the chef did just that; saag paneer, which should have been called cilantro and salt as those were the predominant ingredients; and a curried shrimp dish whose name escapes me- probably as I'm still recoiling from the shrimp which were bad as in way past their expiration date and slimy as well as smelly. Even the curry couldn't disguise the fact that the chef cooked and sent bad fish to a customer. The only items that were eaten were the naan and a mango lassi. Stupidly, at a friend's insistence, we once again ordered another go round as she loved the place and opined that our terrible experience was probably an anomaly where for one reason or another, the chef wasn't there and someone else manned the kitchen. Rather than get into a discussion about how kitchens work- that sous chefs should be able to replicate the chef's dishes so the customer has no idea that the chef isn't even there, I agreed to place our order. Inauspiciously, it was 30 minutes late and so everything was cold. Once again, the spinach was so overwhelmed by salt and cilantro that it was too awful to eat; the tandoori chicken was again dry and raw at the center when cut into and her lamb tikka kabob was similarly dried out. The biriyani was simply tasteless and once again, everything went into the trash bin save our mango lassis and the naan. I will never go to this restaurant or order from it again. I have better ways of spending $100 than using it to play a game of restaurant chicken with the principle result of escaping without food poisoning. I highly suggest that you, dear reader, do the same.
Best Indian buffet in Bethesda. Great for dinner also the methi malai paneer is awesome.
Excellent food at reasonable prices.
Excellent, thanks for a wonderful dinner. They were very accommodating. They were very polite, elegant and polite. Yes I'll go back and if you haven't been, you should go and if you have maybe I'll see you there....
Tasty food... they served some chicken curry in kadai which is very tasteful
This restaurant never let's me down, the food is so dang good and the staff is so patient! Easily the best in Bethesda! Prices are completely fair for the portion sizes and quality of dishes!
Kadhai's vast menu of sumptuous offerings never fails to disappoint! We've been going there for years and no matter how long it is between in-person trips (delivery/pick-up is more frequent with out hectic schedule), the head waiter always remembers our favourites and informs our waiter before he even appears to ask for out drink order! Truly impressive customer service, combined with some of the best Indian cuisine this side of the Atlantic! Highly, highly recommend!
Great curry! Location, service, all excellent. I’ll definitely eat here again.
Traditional, very good Indian cuisine. Ingredients are of high quality, as is the spicing.
Saturday buffet is tasty and includes the common favorites such as butter chicken and palak paneer.
Good food, ok service.
The food is extremely tasty. The lunch buffet has a generous selection. Not too many vegan options.
The food is simply amazing, and one plate can feed two individuals easy.
Best ever Indian food. Very friendly staff- they greet me with my usual drink and have wonderful recommendations.
Good food. But not the drink.
The goanese fish curry was a little rich, but still very tasty. The lamb sheekh kabab was quite good, but could have done with some more marination. But all, told, it was a nice dinner. The service was prompt and very helpful.
Reliable buffet with veggie options
Sevice is good. Food is excellent. Place was good. But price is high than other restaurant. They need to think to reduce the amount for buffet
I have been here few times. Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Overpriced buffet! And why would this place add 18% gratuity for a buffet?? Gobi Manchurian bites were over sized. Dahi vada was flavorless. Bland food at its best. Place is cramped.
Had a excellent experience in this spot with my girlfriend. The food was served quickly and the service is just fantastic. Prices are reasonable.
Kadhai always has the best food. You wont find better indian around here. Wouldnt kill the staff to be more friendly though. This last time i went the service was rocky. Its rare for that to happen though.
Good food but the service is pretty bad. These waiters don't understand how this is supposed to work.
The place is nice but food was sort of neutral in terms of taste. Nothing smashing. But will try them out once more.
Really very good experience. Tasty food. And very good quantity.
A couple of friends and I had dinner over here while visiting Maryland, although the food was ok the server ( puri) and the person at the counter was I’ll mannered to me and my friends while being extremely courteous towards customers with a European decent. I would always leave at least a 20% tip, but for them, all of us left none.
I've only had the lunch buffet but the food is always really good and the staff extremely friendly.
Nice ambience and very delicious Indian buffet with reasonable price in Bethesda downtown. Service is good, the place is always busy for a reason.
Kadhai is on Norfolk ave in Bethesda, and there's on street parking in front and garages not far away. The food was excellent and the service was good. Basmati rice so light and fluffy, Tandoori salmon so succulent.
They messed up our order a couple of times and seemed disorganized in everything. The food was pretty good once we got the right food. Make a reservation even if they tell you you can't because they told us we couldn't and another group got in due to having a reservation.
Good food, good service
One of the best Indian restaurants in the DC area. The Kadhai sauce from northwest India is not to be missed.
Outstanding customer service and great food.
I tried many Indian restaurants and this one really deserves a five-star. The chicken saag and garlic naan were great. The dessert made of carrot was a little too sweet but would definitely recommend this place to friends.
Tried lunch buffet. It was good. It was clean but signs for dishes were moved around?? Wasn’t sure which ones which.
So good. Coming here again. Friendly people.
Food was delicious. We will be back.
This is one of my favorite indian restaurants. I love their lunch buffet. Delicious food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend! :)
Nice selection on the buffet but the chicken was very dry
Food was great, but rude staff and bad service
Food is good. But the restaurant is very small and cloudy. Pay attention not to pay the tips twice. I paid around 20% tips for the lunch buffet. Then later I found that they already charged 15% tips on the receipt. So I actually paid 38% tips (115% * 120%=138%)!!!
Best Indian food in the area. Very friendly staff. Great tandoori dishes.
Good restaurant.
Really good food, great vibe, expensive
If there are 4 items, only 2 are good, others are okok. I have been there for buffet on weekend. Was okok. not so good not so bad.
Good buffet, not much variety, good seasonings
Great food for take out. They give generous portion sizes that can last you a few meals if you're not a big eater. The naan is delicious.
It's really a 3.5. Two dishes ordered and one, butter chicken, was pretty good. It hits on about average it terms of flavor and depth of character. The other was eggplant based, and frankly was disappointing. It lacked flavor and was rather bland. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Good restaurant and great food
Nice place!
Buffet food was pretty bland!
Food was OK. Lunch Buffet and they charged extra for Naan..!! Be careful as food serving plates are not labeled properly and I almost eat non veg and lastly they will tell you but do not tip extra unless and until you really want to give extra money as they will add Gratuity on their final bill. In my opinion its not worth.
Probably the best Indian buffet In Bethesda. I've been coming here for years, and to this day I am still impressed with the consistency and quality of the food. They change up the buffet daily as well, so you get some variation. The staff is very friendly and responsive, and aside from their buffet, the dinner entrees are almost always stellar.
Everytime I come here I order something different and every time I am pleased! Everything is delicious! I love that they have an all you can eat lunch! I like this place much better than Rasika.
Just had a wonderful meal.
The food is pretty good and the atmosphere is nice, our last visit felt a bit rushed but the waitstaff but otherwise was fine. I will continue to order out but may skip dining in the future.
Nice place. The all you can eat lunch buffet is great and reasonably priced. The place has nice decorations as well. One of the few good Indian food places in Bethesda.
I was in the area for the night. I ordered chicken tika masala to go and got both the rice and the chicken in plastic containers. Somehow the restaurant determined that I don’t need forks or spoons!! It’s rice and soup! When I checked and saw that I wasn’t given utensils, I went back to ask for them. The staff was rude and were talking Urdu or Pashtun! A language other than English which I didn’t speak. I clearly don’t speak the language, the least they could have done is just give me the utensils and not make the customer feel like they’re bad mouthing them! Certainly not visiting that place again.
First visit to a restaurant in US, loved the buffet.
Very, very decent. Some things could be better, such as the chicken tikka. Others (seekh kabob, lamb curry, (OH MY GOD) and daal paneer) were heavenly and crazy savory
Staff was very polite and helpful but we ordered a few dishes and both were probably the worst tasting dishes we have ever had. The goat pieces were horrible full of bones and fat and the gravy for the most part was not flavorful and mostly bland. Seemed like they made half an effort in preparing the food. Probably should have stuck to the buffet but even that I won’t return for. Honestly I would be ashamed to bring a Pakistani or Indian family and friends here....
Service was attentive, food was succulent.
Impressive! The presentation and "deliciousness" blew us away. A frequent fan of the two downtown and well known restaurant was our benchmark. What a surprise to find this gem in our own backyard! The servers and manager (Singh) provided excellent hospitality as well. We will be back soon...
Good Indian food was what we were looking for and and we decided to drive down to Kadhai. It was quite packed with all tables seemingly occupied and for 5 minutes no one attended us. We also saw a couple of people peeping in and deciding to leave . We persisted and finally were seated. Our order was delivered in reasonable time. I ordered chicken biryani. Being a biriyani lover I was a bit disappointed as it wasn't real biriyani as it was more like pulao with chicken as there were raisins added and it was relatively sweet although I ordered for extra spicy. So it was not Biriyani..nevertheless, the taste was good, chicken was fresh and portion was generous. Others ordered naan and another chicken dish, although the taste was good again, it was a bit of a let down as we found two different types of chicken in the same curry, pieces of white and red chicken(Tikka pieces) were a part of the same methi Malai chicken which tells me that every dish isn't made to perfection, although the taste might be ok. The service is not bad but nothing to talk about too. I might visit again but would be careful to order something that is not too fancy.
Been here three times. The service is superior. The food is excellent. The prices are right. Their lamb dishes are delicious. I think they may be better than Rasika. If you love Indian, go here. If you never had Indian, start here.
This is a great Indian restaurant. Very good food! Lunch buffet is awesome
Great authentic Indian food. I recommend the lunch buffet where you can sample a variety of vegetable and meat entrees (chicken and lamb). Get there before 12:15 pm. The small restaurant fills fast!
Liked the ambience and decor, although a bit crammed at peak hours. Good selection of primarily north Indian fare, although not much options in the buffet section. Food quality and authenticity is okayish, although the mango Kassi and gulab jamun are definitely recommended. Will go back if someone else is paying!
Solid buffet. Nice selection and fresh.
Really mean service from “ puri” and he split my coffee when he place the dishes. He’s really careless. Please fire him form your own good .
Food is good. Very good naan. mango Lacy is fair. Desert.. I suggest you skip it.
Kadhai is the BEST Indian food I've ever had. Their service is incredible and I'm so frequent that the wait staff knows me personally. I recommend this restaurant to absolutely anyone. Their weekend lunch buffet is to die for! Perfect for anyone.
Kadhai is probably my favorite restaurant in Bethesda and some of the best Indian food I have ever had. The food is consistently great and the staff is super friendly. I have been going to Kadhai since it was still called Handi and I don't think I have ever had a bad experience.
Just had lunch there. We both had the buffet and it was terrific. Staff and food were both excellent. This will, I'm sure, be the first of many visits.
Good buffet. We've been twice. Always a good selection of tasty food.
Very tasty food. Good service. Variety of different options to choose from. Highly recommend it!
Love their food and service
Eat here after they get you drunk as the food is sugary and loaded with heavy cream. And if you happen to order the biryani rice you’d be lucky if it’s not the left over for the previous buffet
Great food fast service very clean. Will go again
Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Bethesda. Similar to Royal Taj in Columbia. Almost never have to wait for a table even though they usually have a good crowd going.
We are staying at the Hyatt Regency and Kadhai is within walking distance. Staff very friendly. Chicken Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta very good, just the right portion per person. Ambiance is nice, comfortable and dressy casual. We eat alot of Indian food, so if you are traveling and need a fix this is a good choice.
Not upto Indian standard food. Worst staff.
Never again. Chicken Tikka was super dry and butter chicken wasn't even cooked properly. SMH.
This has taken over Royal Taj as my favorite Indian restaurant. The weekend buffet has a good selection, but definitely is one of the tastiest. The spice blends work well with the dishes, but seem slightly muted perhaps for Western tastes. Friendly, great service from the staff also make the dining experience enjoyable.
Great service, but not the tastiest
We go here regularly for Indian food. Excellent service and great quality. Don't miss the lunch buffet.
Best Indian Food in Bethesda..
Wonderful Indian food, Kadhai evetable specialties were delicious
Excellent buffet but real issues with the service. The space is small and the placement of the serving trays exaserbates the situation. Net result is a long wait line.
Amazing. Great atmosphere. Great service. The items are meant to be shared. We had the naan (garlic) and the mango and plain Lassi drinks which are yogurt based. We also had enough food to take home and last two more meals. Will definitely be back!
Good food and really reasonable prices for Bethesda
The food is just ok, but the service is terrible, waiters and manager are rude, hurrying customers and asking them to pass the dishes over when done, rather than picking themselves. Their starters are greasy, and the relishes are bland. Have tried it a few times and had different dishes to give them a chance, but finally decided I won't be going there again, nor will my colleagues!
Food was great. I will definitely be returning.
Very good place. Owner was nice. Place was very clean, food was good. For four people three entrees is suitable. Decent amount of vegetarian options. I will be coming back soon!
Super delicious and super great staff
Great lunch buffet
Excellent food and service.
Really yummy buffet with great service and a fine dining experience. Eat inside or out
Friendly staff good buffet. They serve a very good gajar halwa. Great place for lunch. Reasonably priced.
Ordered bhel puri and Methi Paneer with roti. Bhel Puri was ok. Methi paneer was so sweet and taste like lassi with pinch of cumin powder with lots of sugar. Paid $26 and this was the ever worst indian take out I had in US.
Great place for Indian buffet, wide variety of authentic dishes. If you visiting for lunch be ther by 11.30 and you will get to enjoy the peace and no long standing in the queues for buffet. The place starts to get crowded as the day advances. Post noon reservations are recommended. Overall great service, very friendly staff, delicious food and fair price... it’s a perfect blend of everything good. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent. The restaurant itself was very classy and everyone was so pleasant to deal with.
Not bad, if you like Northern Indian cuisine adapted to American taste and "all-you-can-eat" buffet.
I like the buffet here. Must be early or else the restaurant will be full.
Excellent Indian food! The korma is a tad bit sweet for my taste but everything else I've tried is amazing.
This place's lunch buffet on weekdays is unbeatable. It is all-you-can-eat for a low price and with many options and all options are well-prepared and tasty. They go very, very mild on the spices so nobody will have a real problem. I always come here with my colleagues from work.
Great weekend buffet! We come here frequently and the staff is really nice!
Great meal and restaurant. From entering the doors and appreciating the atmosphere, to the superb service and outstanding food, Kadhai is definitely a superior dining experience. Notably lamb vindaloo was spicy yet layered with a cacophony if flavors that created and warm and enjoyable meal. The special bread basket is a winner too.
All the dishes were too good. Wonderful serving too! Loved it
Delicious, as always.
#Kadhai This place is excellent. Great service, very good, tasty food, and best naans ever. We had lamb masala, chicken hariyali and butter chicken. Highly recommend it. Parking is a difficult to find, but possible. Tables are small and place seems bit congested. Otherwise good, quick service.
Server just standing there no doing nothing and checking on guests everytime like they supposed to do!!!!
Chicken vindaloo was great and the rice was on point! One order is definitely enough for 2 people which makes for a lighter and cheaper date night in Bethesda
Great food but the service is a little bit rough around the edges
It's a good place. The waiters are kind. The food is good, but isn't very spicy.
Great great Indian food. Rich and tasty. Super friendly staff and attentive. Even the rice pudding for dessert is good. I’ve been here about 7 times never had a bad experience or bad food. Getting there early helps sometimes it’s busy around 12:30-1:00.
Food here is really adapted more for the non-Indian clientele...not spicy (they don't even ask spice level), and many dishes like Curries, Biryani, etc. were bordering on sweet. Service was pretty good though. We asked them to get us freshly prepared Indian tea - which wasn't on the menu, and they gladly complied.
The food was delicious and much better than expected. The ambiance is quite inviting and the location is hip and lively. Great service too!
The food was great except the mild spicy dish that turns out to be not that mild lol. I can't tolerate spicy food at all but I solved the problem by adding too much yogurt sauce to turn the heat down. The place is very elegant inside don't be tricked by the outside look.
I love the chicken Tikka masala, mixed vegetable korma, lamb Punjabi, and chicken biryani. The service is great; the owner is really nice. And the carrot dessert pudding is amazing! They also have a great lunch buffet.
Ordered take out for family dinner. The food was sweet (gross), no flavor and creamy. What happened to spicy authentic food? I threw out everything I ordered, and ordered from another place. Wasted time and money. Never again.
Indian buffet is good. Options are less but delicious. Indian authentic starters and curries included in buffet lunch.
I was there at lunch. Food was good especially the lamb Curry and the cheesy spinach Curry. The rice pudding and the carrot puddings were great. Service was prompt and friendly. The couple of things I didn't like was the tables were too tightly placed even very very close to the buffet table. Lots of people keep moving around me the entire time. My wife was not feeling well and didn't do the buffet but asked for a spoonful of rice for which they charged $3 which was ridiculous. There were 4 in our group who did the buffet which was $13. The manger was nice who goes to each table checking on customers like a hawk.
Food is good But I didn't get more option in veg
Fabulous buffet!!!
The food was really really nice and you can feel the freshness in it. The place is a little bit short on space but good for 2-4 peoples dining. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food is recommended. We ordered Methi Malai Paneer which was really tasty and our friends got Mughalai Biryani, Special Bread Basket and Lamb Curry (I believe) that all really tasted satisfying. Definitely would recommend the place.
Food so good that I won't tell you more about it. I don't need you to compete with me for a table when I get there. Don't go!
Very good buffet. The food is high quality, and the selection is extensive. It gets crowded towards the end of the lunch buffet on weekends.
This is the first place I've ever had black lentils (makhani) and now I go out of my way just to get them from here. They're really trying to remain an upscale spot. The waiters are dressed nicely and they keep tablecloth on the tables. Every dish I've ordered has been good but more than I'd like to pay for it. It's like an airport restaurant; you would enjoy coming if you didn't feel like you were being robbed in the process.
Great food. Restaurant is always packed. Nice decor. Staff is quick to accommodate everyone. Friendly environment. Food is very well prepared.
Went there for a friend's birthday celebration. had such a amazing time. Everything we ordered was so well prepared. We couldn't stop our self from ordering more breads. Their service is on point. Would love to visit this place more often.
Yummy veggie food, wide menu options, parking is a little tricky, restaurant itself is a little too cozy and can therefore have a life decibel ambient environment that you may be used to. But the tasty foods may make you forget or trivialize these other things :) I recommended a visit
Really friendly service. Generous amounts of naan. Just really good Indian food
The food was not nearly as good as it was a couple of months ago when I was last there. I didn't find any of the dishes to be very flavorful and the food wasn't served temperature hot as it should have been. I think that the food at Passage to India in Bethesda and Tandoori Nights in the Kentlands is so much better.
One of the best restaurant outside India which is really really authentic and food is super awesome. I had goat Biryani , chicken tandoori and Lassi. Believe me , they rocked it. Must go place for food lovers !!!
GOAT KADHAI was extremely disappointing in that there was hardly any goat meat in the kadhai. The dish was full of small pieces of bones with little meat on them. The dinner hours are from 5 to 10pm. I ordered my dine-in order shortly after 7pm. I wonder why they wouldn't have goat meat in the dish at prime dinner time.
I got in and out in under 40 minutes, enjoyed my experience.
Good food, reasonable prices. Staff were very friendly.
The food quality and service are both quite good.
Great food, willingness to do all white meat. Even have dessert and appetizers in the buffet
Service is not friendly but good food
My daughter took me here when I was visiting her from out of town. It's her favorite restaurant in Bethesda, and with good reason! I'm a wimp when it comes to spicy food and my daughter loves her spices, and the buffet did not disappoint. There was plenty for both of us to choose from. I insisted we go back for one last lunch on my last day in town. Too bad there isn't one in WI
Staff is quite excellent, food choices aplenty,
No utensils for carry out Customers. Keep this in mind if you work at an office and are out of utensils at your office.
Very busy for Valentine's day, but pretty average food for the price. Attentive service though.
Not even worth of 1 star. I went there today for a lunch bufffet and they servers were staring at me and passing remarks. I had a pathetic experience of Indian restaurant today
I ordered hariyali chicken spicy and they served me with korma chicken dish saying untrue things like; because you ordered spicy, hence the color is yellow. There was nothing ‘hariyali’ about it. The rice they served with was all lumpy sticky unlike what they are claiming to be poolav infused with saffron. Lol. Never again
Food is good. Service could be better.
Came for the weekend buffet and it was awesome. The food was delicious with a good variety of options, sauces, and curries. Good quality for the price. They have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, and two dessert options as well (both excellent). The naan was also good, obviously made in house. They don't automatically replace the naan on your table, you have to request more. The service was very attentive, efficient, and friendly. The place was also clean, but rather small. I imagine there must be a wait during peak hours. Will most likely come here again.
My family has been going to this restaurant for years! The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is always excellent.
