This Restaurant is included in the category of Fine dining restaurant.
The bar is gorgeous, many historic elements. Huge number of beers on tap besides what they make. Would love to go back for dinner.
Great dining upstairs as well as tasty beer made on site. The downstairs is like a college kegger. Dank, loud and dark. Have to be in the mood for a dive to go down there. If you like microbrew check it out. I hear the brunch upstairs is top notch.
The upstairs portion of Johanssons has decent food at decent prices with a nice atmosphere. The service is usually good. The Sunday brunch is amazing.
I heard all the hype about this place and was a bit disappointed nothing special.
The bartender was friendly and the food was good but the prices are extremely outrageous. I wanted a bottle of white zin when all the liquor stores were closed already and ended up paying $21 for a SMALL bottle of white zin that costs 6.99 at the liquor store. I understand up charging to make a profit but this is just ridiculous. DO NOT GET A SALAD AT THIS PLACE unless you like completely leafy salads with little to no actual romaine lettuce. We took out food to go and I paid $10 for 2 salads only to find out that there was no romaine and only leaves.
Fantastic all you can eat Sunday brunch; it's not cheap ($22) but they don't skimp on the food (raw oysters, steamed shrimp, and every type of breakfast food imaginable). I also like the upstairs bar with its dark wood floors and wonderful, old fashioned fan system. It's cozy and warm in winter. One thing that surprised me- I ordered a single glass of house chardonnay at a private party at Johanssons last week and was charged $8.18. That seemed awfully expensive for a regular glass of wine, especially given it was mid-week and at 4:30 in the afternoon (prime happy hour time).
Great people, good and spirits.
Was looking for a good quality place for dinner with the wife. Saw the menu and pictures of Johannsons, figured this might fit the bill. The atmosphere is more of a bar than a restaurant, which is alright but not a good sign of an upscale …
I happened to find myself in Westminster and a person recommended Johannsons. I'm glad he did. Very nice, cozy place. Walk into the bar area, which has a good selection of beers (some they brew themselves). Dinner menu was good and …
Great place! First time and I am coming back. Crabcakes are good!
Excellent food and great, friendly service
Love the service and food. So fortunate to be a Westminster local to enjoy this wonderful restaurant
The brunch was great, the service was responsive. There was a mountain of steamed shrimp plus oysters on the half shell, roast beef and many different deserts. The restaurant is nice, decorated in an Irish style, the fan over the bar area is very unique. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
My wife and I spent our evening of our 39th Anniversary here. The food is always great but our Server Joe C made this night very memorable not only being very personal but when we ordered a cheesecake portion for dessert drizzled the number 39 on it in a raspberry sauce made the night extra special Thank You
Decided to hit the Sunday brunch and felt a little disappointed at our experience. While the buffet was full of choices, there weren't many items we we're impressed with. The shrimp were over steamed, the waffles we're very tough, and the coconut cake was so dry I needed a few mimosas to choke it down. The omelette was on point although I would of liked to have more choices like spinach and feta. The service was great and the place over was clean
Spacious, but only average kitchen.
Unconcerned service and overpriced bland food.
Always a great place to visit.
Great food, good company and wait staff. We are regulars!
Awesome brunch on Sundays. Food is excellent. Hostess was extremely welcoming. Waitress was very attentive, we never had to wait.
Food was good, waiter was very good, now for the manager showed that she was very unprofessional, you don't yell at your employees in front of the customers, she had a very poor disposition,no people skills what so ever,it will be a long time till I visit this place again to eat.
Outstanding brunch! The food was delicious. Great place to go with your friends and family.
The Sunday brunch buffet is huge and delicious - also including unlimited coffee and orange juice. The space is quaint and the service is friendly.
Nice ambience and excellent food. My wife and I come here often and are never disappointed.
Awesome food great menu..super cool staff with excellent service
Great staff and wonderful food.
The wait staff is attentive, pleasant, and efficient, doing everything you expect except calling you 'hon.' Sandwiches are large, well prepared, and tasty. The menu is diverse and modern. It has a home town feel but big city selections.
Good food. Decent service. Okay atmosphere
First time there and it was Awful. What a disappointment. The Crab Imperial was Dry. Asked for a Tito w/lemonade and got Tito with water and a slice of lemon. I complained to our waiter Josh about the food which he did remove from the bill since I could barely eat it. I asked for a tall glass instead of a small glass which the first drink came in with lemonade. He did return with what tasted like just lemonade. I will say the second drink tasted with a hint of Tito. After waiting and waiting I finally found josh and got my bill This is when I was about to make a huge scene but being with a group of friends I decided to pay the bill and never return!! Why you ask: I was charged for food which was not mine and I was charged for a double on my drinks!! Never did I say or asked for a double just a tall glass which like I said only had a hint of Tito’s in it. My bill was $65. A $10 appetizer and the rest for 3 drinks!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE TO BE RIPPED OFF!
Soon after I moved to Maryland, I tasted Johannson's beers at a craft brew fest, and they were great. I had to try their restaurant. Thing is, they don't have have one, they have three - one for every mood. Want to play pool and have a …
My family celebrates my birthday here every year! It is a large group of us and Johanssos is always very accommodating. They have small plate options which is great for dieters, older folks, and little folks! Tonight our waitress, Renee …
I love this place. The food and atmosphere are great. It's right in downtown Westminster, a quaint town in Maryland near Gettysburg, PA. The bar area is also a good spot for a pint or two.
Fine Dining with Trendy Professionals and Layman Bar. Plenty of Room for Large Family Gatherings and Intimate Settings also. Chefs come and go...Haven't been there recently to Speak for their Quality of Hi-End Priced Meals. All Food can be Served at the Bar. Bands...a lot of Pool Tables and Bar can be Found Downstairs...
Delicious food as always
Excellent food, polite and courteous staff!
Had tournedos, covered in crab meat! Delish!
Cold buffet, old food, ok service. It's not fresh at all!! $$$$$$$ way too much for what you get, dissapointed
Always excellent service, great food, and decent prices.
Both dinner and brunch are really good here. My chicken was a little over cooked, but good service atmosphere more then made up for it.
Their brunch is one of the yummiest times to go! The sea food is fresh, and well prepared, the little desserts are adorably delicious, and the main breakfast foods/lunch foods are all greattoo!
Good food. Service was slow but we did have a large group.
Came here for a nice evening with my wife and great service and wonderful food! The atmosphere is nice and they have a good selection on the menu. Whether you want a high priced meal or a casual burger and fries kind of evening, they have it. Also an excellent beer selection.
I would give no stars however I will give one for our waitress who was excellent. Today was my first and last visit .I wanted to try some place new for my birthday so I told my wife I would love to try here . We arrived and had a short wait for a table which was fine. We were greeted by our waitress promptly and all was going well . She brought our drinks and my wife said her wine was good however my beer was as flat as a beer could be . I mentioned it to our waitress and ordered a different one which was flatter and warm. Our appetizer arrived and was delicious but it's difficult to mess up pretzels and mustard .After a bit our food arrived .My wife's was steaming hot and smelled great. Mine on the other hand was stone cold .I had a few bites but just could not stomach it . Not to mentioned when I asked for some A1 the bottle was empty when it was brought to me. I said something about all of this to our waitress who said she would talk to the manager .That person didn't bother coming over to apologize or anything and left it to our waitress to do so .They did credit our bill $20 but that was all. No apologies ,or visit to the table nothing . I was left disappointed and upset and is not how I wanted to spend my birthday . I will never return nor ever recommend this horrible excuse for a restaurant but I will share my horrible experience with everyone I know . What a lousy way to end my birthday . ☠☠☠☠
The staff was very personable, attentive, and professional. The food was delicious, well prepared, and presented in a most appealing manner.
The physical space is a bit tired but the food and service was excellent!
This was our first time here, our waiter Anthony was awesome. Seasonal drinks apple spice momosa and caramel apple martini was very good. Our food was delicious and well worth the prices. We will be returning. Thank you Anthony for a wonderful experience.
Excellent afternoon catching up with old friends over well made craft beer.
Loved the brunch, great atmosphere!
Service was slow. Food lukewarm. Not a good experience today.
I've eaten here a few times but my most recent visit the food could of been better.
Very good food. Nice upscale atmosphere. Great place.
Good food and great service.
Sue was a very attentive bartender the staff was all friendly, will definitely be back!
What a great Sunday brunch! Very reasonably priced for unlimited alcoholic drinks and excellent food. Highly recommend making reservations for the brunch
Two great atmosphere has pool tables and appetizers in the basement nice Bistro in nice scotch and whiskey bar upstairs
The food is very good, but the last two times we've been there it is taking a while to get our meals and to get a waitresses attention
Always good. Best with family
Came here for lunch with my mom to have something different, since we are from out of town. First staff was ok not very friendly but I guess friendly enough. Second I would have thought they would have had a lunch menu but nooooo that was to much I guess. Third my whole time in this restaurant was a total of an hour and a half
Beer was okay, crabcake was bland.
A great dining experience. They have their own beers, I highly recommend them. Their menu is good. And the dining areas are intimate and we'll lit.
Great brunch! Quality food and quality service. My "Cheers" especially downstairs.
Love the old feel of the place. Went for Sunday brunch buffet and a large selection of food and drink is included for one price. Omelet bar and carved meat included with prepared foods, fishes, breads, desserts and everything else. Delicious choices and unhurried. A great place for brunch.
Good food at reasonable prices. The sunday brunch is one of the best deals in town. They also offer some pretty decent specials during the week.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Wonderful ambiance. Perfect for casual dining, rehearsal dinners, etc.
Great service. Great food. Portions adequate. Lil small on the steak but made up for it with taste
Amazing service. Our waitress went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome. However, when we arrived for our first visit, we were asked for our reservation name - which is fine but we had have never dined at this establishment so we …
You can get a club or an imperial lots to choose from
Yum!! Large variety, great tasting food. Love the atmosphere.
Spacious, with a separate bar area and normal dining seating. There is a nice beer selection for a variety of tastes, and a good choice of appetizers.
Food is over priced and bland. Service needs help.
Wonderful place to dine. Sunday brunch has a large selection of food and drink. Friendly staff. Parking adequate.
Great family dinning
Wonderful brunch, endless drinks (mimosa's, etc)
Delightful Mother's day brunch. Tasty food, sunny ambiance in the side room, and great service
Great bartenders upstairs and downstairs! Roger is great!
Noisy, expensive. Nothing special
Great food and great beer. Try the Hootlehead or Whistle Stop beer. Their bar pretzels are a great appetizer and the crab dip is awesome. Stop on in if your in town. You won't be sorry.
The best crab cake ever. The staff and locals that frequent there were very friendly and welcomed us to the area since we were only there visiting .
Brunch was spectacular
Stopped in for a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon. This place was great. Set in an older historic building, you really had a nice feel. We sat at the bar and ordered sandwiches and a few beers. They had a very nice craft beer selection on draft and the sandwiches were fantastic. I had the grilled Reuben and my wife had the Flounder sandwich. Both were hearty portions and priced right. You wont regret it if you give them a try. Been there a couple of years ago for the Sunday brunch and if It hasn't changed this is another recommendation to try.
They sat us under dusty fixtures - like caked with dust. While the table was clean the surrounding area wasn't and this was on a low traffic time and the place was nearly empty. Ordered a steak and they brought out A1 with it; they don't even have confidence in their food.
Excellent food and great service.
Service was good but everything on the buffet was cold.
Always been nice same as the Sunday Brunch . Avoid down under.
Nice place , good atmosphere. Drinks were a little weak but entries were good and worth the price.I will go back.
Food is always great. Brunch was great.
Celebrating with a great bunch of people, the wait staff was very good with our group of 20. Outside, upstairs, and it was a good night.
One of the "classic" places to go in Westminster. This place has been around forever. And for a reason. The food is excellent (the chili is outstanding and the seafood is always exceptional). The restaurant has a classy ambiance. The outside room overlooking the train tracks has a very nice view of downtown. The bar is classic. Sports on the TV, cold beer on draft. What's not to like. Still one of the go to places in Westminster.
I have only been here for their weekend brunch. Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with my order. I got the small plate special of crab imperial with mixed vegetables & mashed potatoes... delicious! And the presentation of my plate was beautiful!!! Their rolls were excellent...I could have eaten them a night. I got a Strawberry Margarita and it was made with fresh strawberries!!! I am definitely going back to this place :)
It's a place you relax and enjoy your food and your date with good people waiting on you.
Fine, decent food and helpful staff.
For the flower and jazz festival. Which is promoted for mothers day. I go every year. This year I had to work. I'm a pediatric nurse and went into overtime. I got there at 4pm. There were more left but the 4 people working outside cleaning up refused my service. They told me to go inside. I went inside, and the woman at the front said no. They are not serving anymore. I can get full price for my son and I at $28. I told her the servers outside said there were more. She said no. And told me to leave. I worked longer than a 12 hour shift. Haven't seen my son all day. All I wanted was 2 crab cake sandwiches. No sides. No vegs. Its Mothers Day. I never felt more ashamed that I had to go home to my son.I had to apologize to my son when I got home, with nothing in hand.
The best! We will be back!
Food is great and staff is phanomanel
Went to Johansson's 12/17/2017 (Sunday) to meet family for brunch. Coming from PA into Westminster Google Maps routed us to the side of the building (fortunately we have been there before therefore we had an idea of location). Reservations highly recommended as packed. Arrived 1230PM. Parking difficult to find. Seafood, fish, carving station, breakfast items, omelette station, multiple desserts to choose from. Carving station staff served roast beef which was very bloody. Carving station staff not too friendly therefore not five stars. Reception and other staff very hospitable. Definitely recommend if you are in Westminster.
Amazingly delicious!
We come here often...great menu, food, and ambiance!
Attended the mother's day brunch and was not impressed. The bagel was old and dry, the smoked fish was very dry, the steamed shrimp overcooked with the shell sticking to the meat, some pastries were dry and not fresh, but I enjoyed the lox. I didn't eat the entre but my companions were not very pleased either. I've had better.
Lovely atmosphere for Sunday brunch and love the omelet station...however most of the other food choices were cold. May want to consider a waffle station too since waffles get cold easily. Otherwise very nice brunch with LOTS of choices!
I always stop here when I'm visiting Westminster. Great food, a little pricy but worth it. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Restaurant and bathrooms are always clean and well maintained. I definitely recommend reservations of you're stopping by around dinner time or later, as it can get very busy. Just an all around great place.
Great atmosphere. Great food.
Excellent. Will definitely viait again.
Great food and very cool atmosphere! The omelettes are wonderful!!
Very nice atmosphere and selection of food. Had a birthday celebration for 15, it was perfect.
Great food and drinks!
Never a bad meal and always great service either in the dining area or the pub
Bartender remembered me after four years of not being there. Great food. The Sunday brunch is a must.
The service and food is amazing. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. I highly recommend eating here.
Absolutely best lunch and service . Nice lunch with my Daddy.
We tried the Sunday brunch buffet. They were very busy, so our experience was less than stellar. We were seated at a dirty table, then left for quite a long time before a server came for our beverage order and to give us instructions. I have dietary restrictions and was disappointed to find no gluten free options amongst the baked goodies. And almost every savory dish contained cheese and/or butter. There was very little I could eat, but my meal was just as costly as everyone else's. The food I was able to eat was fresh and delicious and the atmosphere there is very pleasant.
Great place hangout with friends and have drinks and appetizers.
The bar downstairs needs to be shut down, multiple complaints (not from me) about unfair treatment from security, which I personally experienced. Also has been known that the bartenders drink while on the clock. Needs new management, this place deserves NONE of your money.
Best place to go for brunch. Buffet style. Great place for family to meet to catch up while eating from a large brunch buffet on Sundays.
Was recommended this place by multiple people and the reviews online looked great. The beer on tap had no carbonation which was the first disappointment. Took a very long time to put in our order, and an even longer time to get our food. It took us a total of over 3 hours from the time we sat until we got our check, and we were one of the only tables in the restaurant. Very disappointed in my experience.
Great brunch. Places fills quickly. Reservations are a MUST!
Service & Food was great! omelette delicious!
Good food. Nice service. Cold beer
Great food and the manager was great too
This was both our first and last time dining here. Started off poorly and got considerably worse. The hostess was not professional in any way, she made it seem as though it was an inconvenience that we were there. She also said to someone not to accept anymore walk-ins, loud enough so we could hear. We spent close to $100 for two people and all of our food was cold. My baked potato had cheese on it that looked like it was melted yesterday. My wife had mashed potatoes that were cold, like just came out of the fridge cold. We both had asparagus and it was also cold. Steak was lukewarm at best. For a place that charges as much as they do, the food should arrive to your table at least warm. The only reason I gave 2 stars is that the bartender and waitress were both extremely nice. They need to fire the hostess and whoever in the kitchen staff feels it is OK to serve food that is cold.
The food was horrible. I had a chicken sandwich that was so dry i could barely chew it. My son had oysters on the half shell that he said were very tough and didn't taste right. ( He is an oyster fanatic so he knows how they should be served.)We had to wait 35 mins to even get our food so we didnt want to send it back and have to wait another 30 mins. It was my husbands birthday- at least his was edible. We asked if we could eat a special cake we brought him. My son has allergies and cant eat regular desserts and they were going to charge is 1.50 per person- so $6 to eat our own food. Never again!!
Really good house made beer.
Awesome place highly recommended great food great atmosphere awesome staff
Five stars for nightly specials, especially burger night (Mondays). Otherwise very expensive for dinner, and most of the dinner specials are not great - stick to the bar or "light fare" menu (sandwiches, etc.) and you'll be fine. Great craft beer list and they brew their own, most of which are excellent. Especially recommend the house golden ale, pale ale, and porter.
Nice dinner, nice atmosphere
Good food and good service
We always loved Johanssons. Their prime rib was top notch. the last time we visited, about halfway through our meal, a roach ran across our table. When I pointed it out to the waiter, he acted like it was no big deal and commented that some unsavory characters upstairs had just been evicted. We were disgusted and will not be back.
