hot bibimbap must try my favorite korean restaurant in dc

Kevin Man

Everything is delicious, quick friendly staff, easy parking. Legit Korean food. Yum!! Totally recommend everyone to visit at least once.

Excellent bibimbap, jeons and bulgogi here, but when it gets busy (which is frequently) the service is lacking. Wait times for a table or drink refills can be long, and the parking situation outside is tight - off-hours, this place is great.

Nicole Kofsky

Abishek Vedere

Great food. Love the Hot stone bulgogi. They have a decent choice of Asian Beer and other drinks too. There is a parking complex right across the street.

Fantastic. Everything was great, fast service. Try the spicy pork, kimchi pancake, and bulgogi. Very good bibimbap as well. I can't tell you if it's authentic, but it's good.

Makduda Zainulbhai

Service is good. And the food was delicious. The hot stone bi bim bap, the bulgogi, and the beef and scallion pancakes. They were all excellent. The only thing not so good was the spicy calamari.

Tamara Cooke

But the kitchen shuts down 35 minutes before closing...they seated us then told us then asked us to leave. Be on time!

Atendimento primoroso e rapidez no preparo. Recomendo sem pensar duas vezes.

Amar Kulkarni

Pretty decent Korean food that doesn't require you to go all the way to Annandale.

Good food but the amount of meat that you get with the Jap Chae and the Bibimbop is pitiful for the price paid.

Really, really, REALLY good food. The Korean mashed potatoes can have me. Much better than the Korean restaurants in Orlando (where I'm from). Very authentic tasting. Delicious! 5/5 of course.

Nice Korean restaurant, food was really good and fresh.

Delicious! One of the best Bibimbap I've had. I wish I took pictures though! Service was okay. Wished our waitress didn't seem so angry.

Maya Sorini

Get the clay pot and ask for it extra crispy- you’ll thank me later. The bibimbap here won’t disappoint.

Evan Turzanski

This is the least Americanized Korean restaurant you will find in the Dc, Maryland, and Virginia area. The Spicy Tofu Stew is the best! Three options beef, kimchi , and Seafood. I have lived in South Korea and I got to say they are awesome!

Yogesh Rajkotia

Decent and flavorful, noodles were too greasy, kimchi stew was good but lacked that 'punch'. Overall did not have the authentic touch as other Korean restaurants in Rockville do.

By far the best kimchi fried rice I've had in years.

David Huang

Can't compare to those in K-Town. This has turn to my "try everything at least once" thing.

Jackie

The food is superb, the waiter went above and beyond! The meal starts with hot tea and cold bites (kimchi and other delights). For two people: kimchi pancake, mandu, bulgogi, and japchae were enough for dinner and lunch the next day. After we left the restaurant, we were a block away and the waiter ran to catch us to return my ear warming headband. Thank you!

You can notice there has no korean people eating food. That means food and services are so bad. Also unbelievably expensive.

Daniel Loomer

Great food and service. A little bit on the pricier side although normal for Bethesda.

wow. Just wow. Food was good. I loved the bibimbap, my only "complaint" is that my spicy squid wasn't spicy enough. But besides that everything was fantastic. More importantly I had the best service in my life there. Awesome people serving there. This dude totally helped me out on my date.

Good Korean menus well known as Korean food.

Milae is an attractive restaurant with great service. The food is delicious with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor.

This place is pretty good. I'm not sure why it took me so long to try it. I came in for lunch with my cousin and had the pork bowl, it was a good lunch at a good price. We both enjoyed the food and will probably meet up there again.

John Serrao

The Bibimbap and seafood pancake are about as good as I've had. Atmosphere is kinda like a strip mall and the service struggles but it's a family place so you'll give them a pass on those items because the food is so good. A hidden little gem you should check out.

The food is very good, and the service is very friendly. Pricing is great too. I visit them frequently for lunch out from the office or I carry out.

Josephine Chow

I think the food is quite good. However, for 15$ I think the amount of beef we get isn't quite enough. I ordered a bibimbap and a bulgogi pancake. There wasn't much bulgogi in the pancake or in the bibambap. Also the lettuce they put in wasn't very fresh. Kinda disappointing but tasted good enough. Was a very cozy place to go to. (Basically the price at bonchon chicken without the quality or quantity. The food is certainly not bad tho)

Michael Mulshine

This place is great. I got a hot stone bowl and was not disappointed. I even decided to get some take out for significant other and she is still raving about the spicy tofu and kimchi. The service was fast, and the prices are reasonable, particularly for Bethesda. Their staff was friendly and attentive. They have a few Korean beers to chose from, but the hunt for Max Beer in the states continues. As noted in some other reviews they do not have a ton on the menu, but what they do have they do well, and quickly. This is a great spot to grab lunch in Bethesda.

Tim C

It's been about a year since I visited, so this review should be pre-dated a bit. Anyway, I was quite pleased with the food. The service was a little slow, but I wasn't in a hurry, either. They gave us Korean lollipops because it was a friend's birthday.

Eric London

the manduguk or dumpling soup dinner will cost $15 and you get 5small pan chons or plates of apps like veggies and kim chi. I feel the food was abit bland maybe to cater to the demographic that cannot handle the true spiciness of kimchi or korean food. the soup needed alot of salt and pepper. but it was had mase dumplings so those were good. I had high hopes bc it was like a small mom and pop ran by two waiter boys much like many family ran korean places but it was alittle on the slow side in terms of service. sp know what you want by the time they come back with water. it's clean and small. mochi ice cream comes ungarnished.

David Park

the best Korean food inside the beltway!

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The dolsot bibimbap was super crispy on the bottom and so delicious and perfectly seasoned. House of MILAE is the place to go for some delicious korean food!

Greg Johnson

Bim Bim Bop was ok. They give you your choice of meet and i asked for galbi (korean short rib) meat. They wont do it! I said i would pay extra then they said it takes a long time to cook. I then said i would wait. Their response was an unequivocal NO. I just wonder where their business sense is at. I will dine with their competitor down the street next time i'm craving bim bim bop.

Eunkyu Lee

Had lots of disappointment here when I was expecting a decent Korean restaurant. very little menu options. It's ok if you are expecting common korean menus such as bulgogi or bibimbab, but this place has no special menu of its own.

Food was good and came out quickly, but service was mediocre. We didn't get our side dishes and asked for one of our meals to come out slightly later because we were waiting for our 3rd guest, but they totally disregarded that. I'd come back if we had a different server.

Best Korean in Bethesda. It's a low bar, but they clear it easily. The bibimbap is my go to.

very nice people and somewhat quick service, and the food is absolutely stellar. in my top 3 favorite restaurants ever

Nathan Taylor

HOT STONE BIBIMBAP. GET IT! (Probably the best food on earth.)

Matt Couse

Amazing Korean food in Bethesda. The dolsot bibimbap was perfect and delicious.

Jason Griess

This is authentic Korean food. The portions are large, free refills on side dishes, great service, and very tasty! Parking garage across the street uses coins, so bring change with you. I can’t wait to go back!

You Mon Tsang

Best bibimbap in the area. Nice, friendly service. Kimcee delicious.

Peter Orozco

Excellent and yummy food, I loved the vibes the spot has, and the employees were super friendly. Will surely visit here next time.

Travis Swaim

The vegan options were very limited despite having tofu on the menu. Was pretty surprised that there's only two dishes really to order; the sweet potato noodle dish and the bibimbap custom bowl which isn't really truly custom as you still can't get the steamed tofu with this or any dish other than the one that comes with the kimchi, which for some odd reason has fish oil/sauce in it! On that same note there is not a single appetizer that is vegan friendly either. We were given a couple small containers of cucumber pieces, lettuce shreds, and bean sprouts for a starter. So, we were left with a fairly oily (despite requesting less oil) order of the sweet potato noodle dish with fried tofu. They gave us three small 1"x1"x0.5" pieces of tofu in the whole dish. In summary, if you're looking for Korean and vegan combined then go to Bibibop. They'll make the dish however you want it. The rice wine was awesome but I'm sure we won't be back for the food. Sorry for the bad review but it's just frustrating when a restaurant comes so close but comes up short with how much you're spending and won't work with you to accommodate dietary needs at all (we tried).

This is a nice gem in Bethesda. The menu is limited with only the most popular items. The service could you some help but everything else is good otherwise. We like the pancakes for appetizers - both the scallion and seafood variety. The pancakes are well cooked and has the right amount of crunch. The accompanying sauce is good too. For the main course, my favorite is the Bibimbap with the Chili Pepper sauce. The decor inside is nice too.

Great Korean food. Very authentic and delicious. Vegetarian options are very good. Bibimbap is great and so are the Korean pancakes.

Alan Huynh

My two favorite types of Korean food are Korean BBQ and jjigae. Jjigae is a type of stew that is generally made with veggies, meat, or seafood. My favorite is the kimchi jjigae with pork. It comes out in a hot bowl that retains the heat and keeps the stew boiling so you can crack an egg (ask for one) into it. House of MILAE serves delicious jjigae. They also have typical dishes like bibimbap.

Edwina Duenas

Great food and service. The menu is somewhat small, but there's enough selection to satisfy different tastes. My go-to's are the japchae, galbi, kimchee/seafood pancake appetizer. The bibimpbap is good as well. Service is friendly and efficient and I've had a great experience every time. There is parking across the street and a short walk from the Bethesda metro. They take reservations, which I recommend if you have a large group. Otherwise, you should be able to walk in and get a table.

Lee Janger

Great food. Eaten here many times. Very reasonably priced Owners are the best.

Orlando Navarro

Very friendly staff. Good food

I ordered BiBimBap as a take out order. It was ready the minute I walked through the door, packaged extremely neatly, came with a bunch of sides that I wasn't anticipating. As someone who is Korean, I'm normally hesitant about going to a Korean restaurant but it was actually really good. I would definitely recommend and would order again.

Took some time before they took our order and it wasn't even busy. Appetizer was ok (dumplings were oily) but the entree i had (Spicy Pork) was amazing!!!! and the prices are good too! I would ear here again. Hopefully next time they are a little more attentive.

Really good hot stone bibimbop and fried seafood pancake. Hearty delicious food!

Good Bi Bim Bop and Seafood pancakes. I will avoid the cheese Bi Bim Bop in future. Friendly staff eager to please. Make a reservation if you want a booth (seats up to 6.). Free small dishes of pickled dishes and mashed potatoes (yes, that's right) come before and during the meal.

Getting to this restaurant can be a little tricky. It is close the Red line at the Bethesda station so it is accessible for people who don’t have a car! As for parking, there are some parking lots and a little street parking located nearby. The restaurant itself is in a little nook, so be on the lookout for the restaurant sign! Our first impression of the restaurant was that it is small, but modest, some of us even would say that it was cute and relaxing. There was a friendly staff that greeted us once we walked in, and there was enough seating in the place, which was nice for our larger party of six. Before we ordered our meals, we all tried the bulgogi jeon (pancakes) and the scallion pancakes which were very yummy and we all loved the taste. Since this is a traditional Korean restaurant, you can expect to get the little appetizers in the beginning of the pickled vegetables, potatoes, and other little assortments to share with your group. To dive into the entrees, our group members all got the sweet potato glass noodles, except one who got the soondubu (not noodles). All in all it was a solid Korean food spot with okay service. Since it wasn’t that busy, the servers seemed a little distracted, but they were very friendly. The food was delicious--the meal was just the right portion size. I liked that there was enough food for all of us to share and try each others' plates. I enjoyed everything! The kimchi was very fresh tasting and service was quick and easy. Some of us thought that the presentation could have had a little more potential, though were happy and satisfied with the meal.
