This Restaurant is classified in the category of Chinese restaurant.
Excellent food. Ask for the sweet and sour seafood soup, spicy version. Many other fine dishes. Been going there for years. Public parking lot across the street. Free on weekends.
I have eaten here a lot over the years. NEVER had bad service and and meals are "above average" for neighborhood Chinese. I do stick to a few favorites that are very well done. Always a pleasant experience.
If you like standard American Chinese food you'll love this place!
Great meal and fabulous service. No complaints. Each dish was flavorful and well constructed.
Loved it as always
Service has diminished in recent year
Food and drinks were excellent and the owners are wonderful
Really bad service, the food I just okay and is expensive. I just leave the place the restaurant was empty and I ask for food to go but they ask me to wait outside in a mean tone, after that I ask for my money back and the man of the bar just come to yelled at me. Don't go. appalling service.
Best in Bethesda.
Excellent Chinese food!
Pretty good food, probably the best Chinese in downtown Bethesda. Order out however. Service is slow and you get way more rice in a to go order.
Very good, quality Chinese with good service. We discussed that we think the food has actually gotten better since the restaurants combined.
My husband and I like this place. Their drink, Dr Fu, is very good. Moo shi chicken is tasty and authentically Chinese.
Best Chinese in Bethesda, hands down. Dumplings, hot and sour soup, Szechuan Chicken and mixed drinks are highlights.
Good food in Bethesda, quick and clean
It took me almost two years living in this area before I found decent Chinese food. They confuse the orders sometimes, so make sure you have them repeat the order back, but the food is worth it.
Great food ,good sevice ,very friendly
NYC good Chinese food. Makes up for the somewhat slow service.
Amazing Hong Kong wonton soup.
Great Chinese food restaurant in downtown Bethesda. Check out the duck!
Went for dinner for 2 7 pm on 9/4/17. Food was great.. service absolutely sucked!!!! Sorry, but no other words cover! 45 minutes after being seated to receive 1 order of 2 spring rolls. They were served luke warm! Multiple requests for sauces....had to "self serve" soy sauce from another empty table. Wine, a bottle of sauvigion blanc, sadly served at room temperature, languished at the bar as the waitress tried to open the screw top with a cork screw! You just can't make this scene up! Received 2 very basic entrees 1 3/4 hours after being seated...remember, we are talking stir fry....had to go out to feed the parking meter!!!!!!!!! Owner more focused on take out delivery than in store customers...wait staff literally running throughout the restaurant like displayed effort would make customers appreciate the crumbs of service provided. Seriously?
Great place, great food, great service. Looking forward to come back again.
Great Chinese food! They actually have “white meat” as an option for chicken! YES!!!!
Some of the very best Chinese food we've had in the Baltimore/Washington Metro area. At its best, everything is wonderful, especially their seafood specials. Fish entrees, when they have them are excellent. They also serve some great old style Polynesian rum cocktails you just don't find anywhere anymore. We love their Mai Tai 44. As good, and delicious as any we used to get at Trader Vic's.
We needed a place to eat and fast. We found this restaurant and didn't really expect much. It was a pleasant surprise! The staff was very helpful in choosing dishes. The spicy beef broth really is hot, but very tasty. The Yu Ling duck was tender. The eggplant was very flavorful. The chow fun wasn't overly greasy. The way to describe the food is "clean." You don't have a heavy feeling after eating. We also asked for hot sake when we found out they heat it with hot water using a teapot as a double broiler. We're very happy we found this place!
I can’t say enough great things about this place! It’s low key and comfortable, the staff is always warm and welcoming and their service has never skipped a beat & of course the food and drinks are always a hit! Tiki night is on Thursdays and so much fun :)
Great food and service. Super vegan items on the menu as well
Great food and great service... We loved it and appreciated all the veggie options.
Food good but not hot enough and service very slow.
Placed take out order and they were extremely rude. Delivery driver demanded over 40% tip. Food is mediocre and not worth the price. All in all the place sucks. You are better off ordering from another venue. Don’t trust all the positives you read.
Service was good. I only ordered one dish recommended by the waitress, which was “grilled” whole fish. It flavored more to the taste of “Americans”, instead of Asians. No complaints, but just want to point out that this wouldn’t be my choice of authentic Chinese food. A bit of disappointment, sorry to say so.☺️
Very friendly staff and the food is really good. Nice environment
The general Tso’s chicken was almost tasteless. I had to add some salt just to feel like I was eating something. I was also harrassed by the man who brought the food to my door (was definitely the owner based on attire and car) when he felt the tip was too low (I tipped about 12%, he drove 2 minute) He stood outside my door and kept knocking for minutes on end. When I finally opened it he gave me a death stare for about a minute after beginning to yell at me. His breath was also foul. I am 15, and I am sure that he would not have done the same to an adult. The fact that he thought he could swindle me for more tip because of my age is ridiculous. Don’t ever order from here.
Service was terrible. This restaurant used to be a family favorite. We waited a half hour for our soup and an hour for our dinner and didn't receive some of our order. We finally paid our check and left disappointed.
Had the chicken with black bean sauce for lunch. Wasn't too crowded on a regular afternoon. Apparently it gets pretty busy on sundays. Decently priced lunch special and were able to accomdate our larger group. Friendly service too.
Mediocre lunch. Scallion pancakes not the way they are supposed to be, few scallions, not the kind if texture a good scallion pancake has. Vegetables not very tasty. Peking duck average. Skin was not crisp enough, although the duck meat was tasty. Scallions very fresh, sauce and pancakes fine. Overall ok but not a place I would go back to. Pricey for what we got.
I walked in at 8 minutes to closing, hungry and thirsty. Everything around me was Closed. They took the time to make me some food and time for a couple of beers. The food was really good. Thanks so Much!
Trash!
I enjoy the lunch combos here, particularly the mapo tofu and hot & sour soup combo. It’s a good amount of food and usually ends up lasting me for two meals. The spicy level is inconsistent but it yummy nonetheless. Good price for downtown Bethesda.
Quiet and tasty
Trash!
duck bronzini so good
It has been some years since I ate here. This time I irdered an eggplant dish, and it was overly sweet. My friends enjoyed their meals more, but I see no reason to go back.
They have lunch special daily until 3 pm. Price was OK ($11.00-$12.00) for lunch dpecial
Good service and tasty food
I had heard there was a "tiki night" at this place. There is a bar with some thatch and some novelty tikis. The menu advertises fresh lime juice, but I saw Rose's in use, disappointingly. Neon red cocktail cherries were another clue this place isn't to be taken seriously. Food was okay, not special. Lots of TVs showing golf kills the vibe.
Bad food!
Tikki thirstdays! Best drink specials in Bethesda on a Thursday night. The staff is wonderful and the crowd is welcoming.
Chicken wings at a Chinese restaurant?
Overpriced for mediocre food. Waitress never checked up on us. Food was honestly worse than the low key, greasy Chinese restaurants. Paid $15 for some OK General Tso Chicken, with a super small bowl of rice. Would have ate a lot better at a cheap takeout restaurant.
Their food is unrivaled
The food here was average. There is far better in Bethesda. The real problem was service. An employee confronted a customer (a young woman) and demanded a larger tip. Even assuming best intentions on part of employee, made for an extremely unpleasant dining experience.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. There was a time when there was a good Chinese restaurant on every corner, but that's no longer the case. If you're looking for a great Chinese meal, then come to Foong Lin. Try the fried dumplings and hot and sour....everything else I've had has also been good. The service is friendly and efficient; they take good care of you. The chef is likely to visit you for your feedback, unusual in a Chinese restaurant. He's also the owner, and is the spark that makes Foong Lin great.
I would give it 7 Stars if I could. The food is melt-in-your-mouth beautifully cooked Chinese Asian fare. Prices are very reasonable, service was with a smile and very respectfully friendly. The chef even came out and asked if our food was to our satisfaction. Overall a wonderful dinner. Aditionally the restaurant itself is beautiful very serene atmosphere with tasteful decor. I will come back as often as I'm in this part of the country, you can be sure of that.
Awesome! Foong and fam are great and the food place location are tops.
Food is superior, and the people are friendly. Tiki night is on Thursdays.
Great Chinese food.
Only ate there once but found the food very bland.
Best tiki bar in town
GREAT food.
Good place for families
Server looked at the tip I provided at lunch and stated to me that it's not 15 percent. For the record, I provided a 12 percent tip based on the overall price and service. Food is typical, service is to be desired.
Crispy beef and the peking duck are the best dishes ever!
Service and food aren't very good if you are looking for plant-based alternatives.
Good lunch menu and friendly staff.
I love this restaurant. I feel it's best Chinese in Maryland! The owners are very hard workers and they care about their customers.
Great food and service!
The best Chinese food in Bethesda.
Food was quite good, But there was a very drunk male who seemed to be the chef? I don't think anyone in the restaurant liked him being there. He was VERY drunk and could smell the alcohol on him. Not professional at all.
Amazing food. Drive all the way from DC to get chinese food here
Our go-to for straight-up Chinese. We would go more often but we always eat too much. But wait, there's more!:Tiki Thursdays!
I've been a longtime regular of Ling & Fu's (principal proprietors) labor of culinary love since before they moved to their current location (from the corner of Norfolk & Woodmont) several yeard ago & their menu is even more gourmet than before!!!!!!
This is the one Chinese restaurant in the downtown Bethesda metro area that I am not afraid of getting food poisoning from. With that said, it's still just a decent Chinese place.
Best Chinese in the area. Very good quality food. The noodle soups are excellent. Wish they delivered to a wider radius!
Ordered egg roll and fried rice to go. Customer service was terrible, they’re extremely rude and took 20+ minutes on these two items
Great food
Fine for what it is; a neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent Chinese food. Never a reheated cuisine type restaurant and always fresh and served hot. Very good tea but they do not have a large selection to choose from. Currently they do not serve dim sum which is a bit of a bummer but there are other fine restaurants in the area that do or in Gaithersburg like Good Fortune. Still though this rates very high on my list on places to eat in Bethesda.
I usually ordered from this restaurant; but after yesterday I will not longer be their customer. I ordered vegetarian fried rice, and vegetable spring rolls for my wife. The restaurant sent me chicken spring rolls and chicken fried rice. I called them back to let them know they made a mistake. A lady with very poor attitude from the restaurant told me after arguing for 20 minutes. "I will send you the food but do not throw it away because we will resell it" I'm still in shock. I wonder how many times have I got resold food from them. Something to think about if you are planning to eat there.
Best Chinese Restaurant I have ever been too!!
Worst customer service I have ever encountered. The food can never be returned if u think its not cooked. Went there once never going back. Please improve your food quality and customer service
Good food!
Legendary dishes prepared by a talented chef
Excellent American-style Chinese food favorites and great tiki drink.
Excellent food & service on a. Very cold evening.
Best
Great food at good prices. The Chef was trained in Hong Kong.
This was one of the worst chinese foods I have ever had in my life. Spent 30 bucks on the house chow foon, which was inedible (chow foon was not mixed with the sauce, sticking all together, and the sauce was really bad), and the szechuan potato chicken, which was only OK compared to the chow foon, but still not good at all. Even the rice in the little box was overcooked. Won't come back and I will tell people to stay away, sorry.
One of the best delivery places in the area, food is a bit more expensive than some of the other Chinese restaurants but the quality is worth it.
Popped in for lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon. The Gen. Tao's Chicken was a bit spicier than I usually get (a good thing) and the lunch special price was decent.
This restaurant has several good reviews; so think that my food order was an outlier. I got the general Tao's and a Broccoli dish. Both of them were sour....like something went bad sour. We had to throw them away as they were inedible. so if you are taking food out...suggest you taste before you leave.
Great food and drink. Terrific service. Love HOFL.
Have been going to Foong Lin for many years, first at the old location at Norfolk and Fairmont, now at the former Moon Gate. Service has gotten worse and worse - this last time over an hour to get a complicated (that's meant as irony) dinner of General Tso and Low Mein. Waitress did not speak English, was curt and abrupt the (very) few times she came by. No attentiveness whatsoever. The sad thing is the Mai Tai was excellent, the food when it finally came was very good. Not sure we'll go back.
Great lunch prices. Had the Broccoli and Beef and it surely hit the spot!!
Tiki fun with drink specials and top quality food!
One of the best Asian restaurants in Bethesda, food is good, quality is ok, better tgan others nearby. They are friendly, their vegetable fried rice is one of my favorites.
Ma Po Dofu, baby
