Great American Steak & Buffet is absolutely one of the best all you can eat restaurants in Virginia! Customer service is great and I cannot say enough about the good food. The restaurant stays packed with famlies on the weekend!

First off, allow me to say that the food is excellent. My rating has nothing to do with the fare. Instead, my rating goes to form more practical concerns. Parking firstly is abysmal. I have been to this restaurant twice, and both times someone has nicked my car. Certainly I blame the people that did it but the restaurant is responsible too, trying to cram of way too many people into too small of an area. Secondly, the air conditioning does not work very well. When boatloads of people are in there and it is already a hundred degrees outside, you can imagine what the environment is in inside. The service from the wait staff is fine, they seem very friendly and helpful they are simply overworked. It is the cashiers when you are leaving who truly have an attitude and it is completely inexplicable

A hidden gem. Better and closer than Golden Corral. It's a bit hidden and maybe lacking a bit of curve appeal. But, the cooks are putting out good and hot food! Servers keep pace with drinks as well.

The food is okay not bad for the price , but it immediately upset my stomach the last time I went . I definitely agree w everyone saying it needs to be remodeled . Wonder if the heating/cooling system not working properly is causing some overgrowth of bad bacteria ? Not to mention of course it’s already a buffet so you already have to be careful because everyone is handling the food. I also saw a roach at the salad bar near the tacos and it made my stomach turn . Eeeek. Haven’t really been back after that. This place has much more potential but definitely would recommend the owner invest some money into it, it’s time.

My first time eating at this restaurant was about a day ago and I’ve never had a bad experience at a restaurant until I came here. Customer service was weak. No greetings, no smiles, and all attitude. I notice the workers don’t seem to keep up with lobby or dinning area because there was trash everywhere on the floor and tables. We had to wait in the lobby a little while before being seated because “ there weren’t any tables available” there were several tables available, they were all just dirty because no one was keeping up with the tables. There wasn’t a big variety of food to choose from. The food was cold. The broccoli I ate tasted plain. Seasoning please ? Also I tried a meatball from off of my boyfriends plate and let me just say... bitter and nasty after taste. Do better !

Hostess service is bad, especially for Nothern Virginia. Table service is minimal, bit ok depending on your server. The food is tasty and kept at appropriate temperatures (this definitely seems to be the primary focus of service at the establishment). Cleanliness as far as floors, tables, and bathrooms is clearly not the focus. It's run down looking but stays very busy.

First, not only was the food great, but the staff was amazing. We were travelers and we're given tips and advice like we were friends and family to the staff. That's after we'd paid and we're leaving so it wasn't to effect the amount of a tip. It was just good old friends helping friends who were total strangers.

You Pay for What You Get. The food at this establishment really lacks quality. I was honestly skeptical about eating some of the items on the buffet so that being said I had to pretty much pick and choose what items I judge to deemed edible. I understand this is a buffet and in my experience I understand that a buffet is sometimes not always going to be on par. But my experience was during dinner time where everything should be cooked fresh and served hot. I found items to be luke warm and some being out under heat lamps for too long leaving items either tasting or chewing like your eating a sponge or dried out. To be honest I will not eat here again and for health reasons would not recommend for eating. Service not too much friendly or lacks motivation and the establishment I felt needed so much needed house work and cleaning. Dinner service area needed tables cleaned, floor swept, and serving areas wiped or cleaned. All I can say is.....eat at your own risk.

But I love the one who was servicing us becausse she was really attentive even though it was a buffet. At a cheap price, my experience was greater than I expected. I love the food (so that’s 5 stars) however I’m 28 and been coming here for years. The ceilings is what made me rate this place a 3, when it rains the ceiling leak. That’s just disgusting to have around your food. Not to mention my last time coming, they had roaches at the salad bar and when I notified the manager she looked and said I’ll give you 10% off your food. I was more so thinking she would say let me close it down and make a salad for you fresh from the kitchen NOPE. They think everyone is there to just get discounts. I THINK THIS PLACE IS WAY OVERDUE FOR A REMODELING

It was an OK experience. Annoyed with the front house staff because I had a large party on Mother's Day and they kept scratching my name off of the list. So, I had to come back constantly to ensure my name was still on the list. It would be nice to have a speaker outside when the lobby is overcrowded or a pager system to alert when the table is ready.

Most of the meat is raw. The meat that seem to be fully cooked is dry. They do not seem to know how to cook chuck roast nor chicken breast. Only thing I enjoyed was the rolls and the sweet potatoe dish. I will not be going back to this establishment. Please do not base your opinion of this establishment off of my opinion. The individual I was with seemed to enjoy the place so that is why I say go and try it out for yourself.

This restaurant in particular is one of my favorites,I frequent it so much because the staff is always friendly and with some long term employees whom when you meet them you will love them!Hannah and I can't remember her name but she is a wonderful Grandma that amazes me how she has been there for so long,I mean the food is great and the atmosphere there means that if you are on a strict diet be careful because you will be back!I love this place!!

This place is good but it could be soooo much better they had alot of different choices but some of the food was bland and flavorless like the mac & cheese & the stawberry cheesecake but they buffalo chicken wings were amazing and there popcorn shrimp I'd go hear again but it's not gonna be first on my list or even in my top 10 they said this place had steak i didn't see one piece of steak i was extremely disappointed about that you guys can do so much better try a lil bit harder and give that place a make over it looks like a hole in the wall and its very dark in the restaurant if you guys don't add more flavor and variety to your food your gonna lose alot of customers to up and coming restaurants in this bubbling area.

This place is comparable to Golden Coral but less expensive. For breakfast there is all the typical breakast options including an omlet station. For lunch they will bring out grilled steak, chicken, pork, taco station, and so much more.

Very good food! We had a dinner there (first time at this place or at similar one during our USA road trip) and it was awesome. We paid 30$ with refilled drinks (no alhohol available). There was so many kinds of meals that we didn't know what to choose :-D. We tried many things, everything was fresh and tasty. I fully recommend this place. Top.

We visited on Sunday and they had brunch buffet. Large area with breakfast food. Pancakes, bacon, eggs. They also had lunch items and great fresh fruit and salad. Has a homey feel to it. Best of all the food tasted good. You pay when you leave. The place was packed, we didn't have to wait to be seated. I will be going back

Not coming back to this location. To start off when we arrive I went to use the restroom to wash my hands before I start to eat and the restroom was horrible that turned me off right there. I was ready to go right away after that. Then once I go to the buffet to fix my plate some of the food looked so old as if it's been just sitting out all day. The food was cold. And the area was dirty that we were seated in.This location looks as if it's falling apart. The blinds in the window were even terrible. Needs to be renovated. People pay good money to come here and eat and this is how you keep your place of business. The only decent thing I didnt have a problem with was my waitress she had customer service.

They have some of the best southern cooking. The place is always clean as are the employees and the bathrooms are as well. I admit whenever I visit a place for the first time I always go and check out the bathroom if it is dirty I leave if it is clean it says to me the employees are clean as well. Thus far they have always been clean!!! The fried chicken, the cabbage, the baked and/or grilled chicken the bbq and the dressing and corn bread are my favorites. The entire place always has a busy yet calm atmosphere and whether one is alone or with family or friends the eating experience is superior.

Great American steak and buffet is an establishment that caters to family style eating; however the restaurant location in Alexandria, VA environment is very disturbing. For as much patronage it gets you would think that they would have updated this location especially the inside with better seating and carpet. Not only that but the ceiling was leaking water from the vent right into our food while seated at the table and also wetting our clothing. Would the likes of the environment reflect the preparation of the good, probably so. If this establishment has such a high patronage then why not renovate it to reflect the greatness of your customer' patronage.

The plate I started was good up until I drank my drink which had something in it. The waiters were kinda nonchalant. We had to switch tables because the first one was dirty and rocky for my children. I had to ask for ketchup about 3 times before getting one from a table once it became vacant. I do not recommend this place to anyone dining in.

The food was good but my waitress ignored us. She didn't like us for some reason I don't understand why. I was very respectful to her, stacked her plates and cups for her, cleaned up the table for her, and always said please and thank you. Waited for over 10 minutes for a refill but would watch her laugh and smile with other tables. Would also see her give them to go cups and take their bills to pay them and bring back their change. Yet she never did bring mine. Had to finally after 20 minutes go and ask the manager if she could just ring us up because the waitress didn't bring it out to me. Won't be going back.

We were in from out of town for a conference and a shuttle bus driver sang this places praises. It was run down, the staff was not friendly, and the food was mediocre at best. The rolls were hard/crunchy, the shrimp tasted like the frozen processed variety, and everything else was just blah.

Try the 'mount vesuvius' You stack some onion rings, make a volcano. Fill with mashed potatoes partway. THEN put in the gravy and meatballs to the top. Voila! It's great

The food is great and I has been going here a long time. The only complaint I have is that they need to update the place. The carpet is dirty and need to be taken up the chairs and booth benches are hard and tables and chairs are really old. That place make a lot of money and shouldn’t have any problems to make us feel proud and comfortable. I suggest they change the chairs. Tables and cups, booth.
