Everything about this restaurant is average. Average service, facilities, food, environment, etc. Their burrito is the biggest burrito in Virginia, but it is not quite the best. When I used the restroom, the light was blinking like a strobe light. Our waitress was clearly struggling with all her tables, and she gave the wrong kind of tortillas then accidently overcharged. That said, all of our problems were fixed quickly, and the waitress was quite friendly. On Mondays, kids menu items are only $0.99! And the food was quite satisfying. The chips and salsa especially were delicious! A great restaurant overall, they just need to finish training their new staff and I need to ask for no sour cream in my burrito.

I called the Richmond Highway location about 9:45 p.m. And was told if I got there before 10 p.m. I would be seated and would be able to have dinner when I arrive the host tells me they're closing and that I would not be able to be seated but I could have an order to go or I could try the bar I go to the bar and have a seat the young lady says excuse me I'll be right back and when she comes back she tells me they're closed they're no longer serving by the time I got back to my car it was only 9:50 p.m. I'm disappointed was really looking forward to having a meal there and just wanted something light but because of the way I was treated I won't ever come back and definitely won't recommend anyone else to come there either.

A hidden gem in Alexandria. I've been in the area often but never noticed El Paso. You have to try this place. The staff is attentive, the service is quick but you won't feel rushed, and food is excellet. The burritos are as big as they are good. Great margaritas, too. I'll be back often.

Eh. I've been to two of their other locations many times and had a great experience. I came to this location Sunday evening for dinner and was very disappointed. My husband and I met here for dinner after my bartending shift. We arrived at 8 to find that most employees seemed annoyed. I checked online to see that they closed at 9, but it's never taken an hour plus to get food at the other locations, so I figured we were good and, if we weren't done by 8:45, we'd get some boxes and leave. We ordered the chori queso and I asked for a Cadillac margarita. The server disappeared for about two minutes and came back with my husband's Coke and my margarita. The glass was hot to the touch, clearly fresh out of the dishwasher. The few cubes of ice in it were tiny as they had melted down to near nothing. Threw caution to the wind and took a sip, which was room temperature and undrinkable. I didn't want to be annoying so I just figured I would work on my water. The queso came to the table. I'm not sure what is happening with this but it's really thin and runny now, which makes it difficult for people to share using appetizer plates. The taste was good though, so I'm not complaining about this dish, just something I noticed. My guess is that they put the scoop of chorizo in the queso complete with the grease, but I can’t say for sure. I ordered the chori camerón (a shrimp and chorizo dish) with no beans, extra rice (sorry, I just really really do not like the taste or texture of beans) and my husband ordered a burrito. Literally two minutes later someone brings my husband's burrito and...a chicken dish for me. I explain that I'm sorry but I ordered chori camerón and the food runner apologized and said it would be just a moment. No problem, stuff happens, I'm still looking forward to my meal. Ten minutes go by, it's now 8:30. My meal is brought out by the same food runner who merely drops it and leaves. My husband is done eating and waiting to ask for a box. I look at my meal. The dish is correct, but there are beans literally all through the queso (part of the dish) and shrimp. At this point, I'm on the verge of tears, which I fully admit is ridiculous (I'd had a very long 10 hour shift and everything just got to me at once). I went outside and cried a bit, composed myself and came back in. At this point, I've gotten runny, thin queso, a warm margarita, the wrong food, and food that has the one thing I asked to omit throughout (also, had they been on the side as they should be if you ordered the dish as it’s supposed to come, I would have been perfectly happy to eat around them, but there were swirls of beans throughout the queso). The manager offered to get me a third meal and I declined. My husband has finished eating and just needed a box. They did take my meal and margarita off the check, charging only for my husband's Coke, burrito, and the queso. We didn't ask for the meal to be comped, but it would have gone a long way considering I literally received no food and our experience there was horrible, but it was fine since he did eat the burrito. I guess it was just surprising because there's no shot that I would have presented a bill to a table in this same situation where I work. It would be embarrassing to me to ask for money after that, but again, we didn't complain about it and paid the tab. We of course tipped the server since none of this was her fault. It felt like people just rushing to make sure they wouldn't have to stay after 9, but we would have been out of there well before then anyway. Giving two stars for the size of my husband's burrito and the fact that he enjoyed it. Taking off three for messing up an order twice, serving warm margaritas in hot glasses, and rushing to close when it's still an hour before that's supposed to happen. Will continue to visit other locations. Steering clear from this though.

This place is a go to spot for my fiancé and I. We go here at least once a week. Cheap plates and incredible food and even better service! This is authentic Mexican food and rightly so! Its on average about 10 bucks a plate and you are stuffed and feeling great at the end of each meal! Keep it up and never change El Paso on route 1! Y’all are amazing and I recommend everyone to eat here!

I'm not from around here and was craving Mexican n this place was close. I ordered a new dish "enchiladas mariscos" which was 3 cheese enchiladas topped with mixed seafood. I'm not sure where the enchiladas were n was over whelmed by amount of onions. The shrimp was about the only thing I could eat as crab was imitation n very mushy. Service n staff very friendly but this dish not recommended.

That's weird. it was mostly good weird, but they overdid it somewhat. They get 4 stars for being great and experimental in general but would have merited 5 if it worked... in other words, done in moderation. That's why it's important to taste test experiments.

My daughter and I stopped for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. It was highly recommended by a staff member of the hotel close by. Chori-Camarón that the waitress said was a good choice. I would agree since the plate was completely empty at the end. There was plenty for the two of us to share. The drink special was a small Lime Margarita.... Which was thoroughly enjoyed. We arrived around 2:30 - 3 pm.. No wait time and convenient parking. The staff was also courtesy, friendly and made sure we were happy customers. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be there again.

Sorry El Paso but the fact you guys have a 4.4 rating, I truly don’t know. I ordered the Classic Margarita and it was warm and melted all my ice. The Taquitos were very dry and bland. We ordered basic items from the menu and you didn’t deliver. Sad because the service was excellent.

This has been one of our favorite mexican places in the area. We have experienced long wait times and miscommunications about seating, but overall the food and the service have been great once seated. However, recently we went and sat in the bar area. One of the bartenders seemed attentive, but as we ordered drinks, ate, etc., the bartender seemed to forget about us in favor of talking/hanging out with coworkers. Someone else saw us with zero service, asked if we needed anything, and handled the check. We had come before for a friend's birthday, and they had been kind enough to do something nice for his birthday. The bartender knew it was my fiance's birthday but nothing happened this time. Perhaps they don't do that anymore, but it was very disappointing because this is the place he loves to go to, and the service and specialness of the dinner were not what we had in the past. :(

I have worked near this place for about 15 years and I’ve never stopped in until yesterday. This place is absolutely amazing. The salsa has an amazing flavor. Everything from the food to the drinks and the service was almost perfect. I hope when I visit again I have the same experience. I ordered the largest margarita they had and it was enormous. It had a lot of alcohol and was good. I ordered a dish that was not on the menu and it was called the Chori Mixto. It had chicken, steak, shrimp, and chorizo sausage. Wow it was delicious. My friend ordered the vegetable fajitas and I was very surprised that the vegetables had such an amazing flavor. I cannot wait to visit here again.

Service was slow. Server kept telling us "no habla English" so no matter how good the food was, its it's obvious that they are not keen on serving non Spanish speakers. Server could not explain what was in the taquitos. Too bad as the Baja chicken salad was very nice. Guess I'm going back to Los Toltecos on Duke Street.

Every time I go by this place, I've noticed that the parking lot always seems full, I was driving by the other day and finally decided to try them out. What I found inside was a spacious restaurant with a nice bar area. This place has a pretty decent menu filled with authentic Mexican favorites. I was given a generous basket chips and bowl of salsa and as an added bonus they even included a small cup of queso and a small cup of guacamole, which was a nice surprise. After looking over the menu I decided to try their chicken chimichangas which is usually a favorite of mine when dining at Mexican restaurants. They arrived on a hot plate with ample portions of refried beans and rice along with a dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guacamole. While these weren't the best chimichangas I've ever had, they were still pretty good and the service was quite good. My waitress checked on me regularly and my drink glass never went empty. I will definitely be back.

Seriously: my $12 burrito took me three sittings to finish and our "to share" sized margarita was served in a schooner glass and was quite strongly poured. We'd go here a lot more frequently if it had better road access.

I was really excited to try this place after learning that they had "California" style burritos! (Carne asada w French fries) The version they have is a surf and turf which is steak and shrimp w fries. Sounds like a delicious combo! Our meal started off great. We had chips and queso which was very good. I cut open my burrito to see the beautiful steak and shrimp for this picture! Unfortunately, it went down hill from there. The burrito was just TOO SALTY! I thought it was just my dish. My gf ordered shrimp fajitas which looked delicious but again was too salty. I wanted to love this place as it has a great patio, but the food is way too salty. I'd be willing to try this place again as the food was cooked well and the staff was friendly and fast, but I'll ask them to hold the salt.

This is the second time we have been at this restaurant. First for my birthday almost a year ago and now for my father in law. The first time o was a bit hesitant because I wanted to go somewhere else. But I did not regret going. The food was excellent and so were the drinks. This time we went and we did not have any complaints. The food was good and it did not take too long to come out. The drinks were good and the service was excellent. It's a place worth going to.

Waited 45 minutes for some really subpar tacos. Yes tacos took that long. Decided to grab a drink while I waited. I asked for rail tequila and a beer. 3-4 of the kegs we're kicked so I really only had 1 option (bartender did NOT look surprised). $40+ later I had my tacos and really overpriced drinks. Overall bad idea and lunch...The staff was pretty friendly though.

This is my go to place for tasty and affordable Mexican cuisine. The staff is always very friendly. There are plenty of people working the front and back of the house, at all times, so your needs are met quickly. I gave one less star, because the food is sometimes inconsistent depending on the day you go. It is never bad food, but some days your portion may be slightly smaller or the dish presentation looks very different than how the last cook presented it. Overall an amazing place full of colorful wall art, upbeat staff and flavorful food. I recommend the street tacos!

This is my new favorite place to grab food close to home! It would be 5 stars, but service is just a little bit slow. Don’t stop by if you think you’re in a hurry. First time here...I did not read any reviews until I ordered. Overall, the reviews are good. I don't understand how this place would rate one or two stars from some reviewers. The staff was attentive and friendly from the first step in the door. There is a great mix of clients from adults to kids, Hispanic, and other cultures. My server said everything (including the chips and salsa) are made in house. My server made some suggestions and I selected the Burrito Mojado with Al Pastor meat. Everything was tasty and the prices were reasonable. If you are looking for some home-style Mexican food... There is plenty to choose from. I will be back.

Great food, but kind of slow service. We drove half an hour out of our way to eat at El Paso, since we wanted a place with a DC feel but with parking. This restaurant got such great reviews, we had to try it. The meal started out great. Chips and salsa were delivered right away and were excellent. But no one came to take our drink order for a full 10 minutes. When we finally ordered, the food came out pretty quickly, but one of the orders was wrong,so we had to send it back. The wait staff was doing their best, but they were slammed (our server had seven or eight tables), and they were training a new employee as well. I had no complaints about the servers at all - they were champs! Just understaffed I think. The food was terrific, great Mexican cuisine. BIG portions. We took a picture of my daughter with a burrito bigger than her head. When the check came, it had a mistake too, but when I pointed it out it was fixed right away, so no harm no foul. We left very satisfied, just a little later than we would have ideally preferred. I happily recommend El Paso to all.

The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because they tend to be slow at the end to give you the check and all. Other than that it is amazing. The table side Guacamole is delicious. The vegetarian options are acceptable in the amount they have and are outstanding as far as taste. I have had them all. There is sufficient parking.

I eat lunch here from time to time because it's not typically crowded during lunchtime and the lunch specials are really good. During lunch, 2 people can eat here for $20 or less and leave full. They offer unlimited chips and salsa with your meal which is really good and they have a lunch special that allows you to choose 2 items like a taco and a quesadilla plus rice and beans for about $7. The food is pretty good and the service is pretty good but the lunch special pricing is the real win here.

The sangrita margarita and the burrito were good. The wait on a Friday was about 20 minutes at 8pm. There was too much for creme in the burrito and too much red sauce as a topping. I had to put my burrito on a side plate to eat it comfortably. I would definitely visit again.

Chips aren't homemade, if they are - they aren't that good, salsa that came with the chips was from a can. The flautas were good, didn't taste frozen, chicken was moist and flavorful , the grilled chicken super burrito was tasty. The fish tacos were tasty but get them fried, the grilled style fish falls apart making a mess.

I was told that the food was really good...well I've had better. The rice was not seasoned, refried beans and chicken soup was ok....I like Mexico Restaurant better!
