Bibimbap (비빔밥) is probably one of the most well-known and beloved Korean dishes to many people. I'm all about building my own bowl, which you can do here at Brown Rice. Definitely opt for the HOT STONE BOWL. It's heated to the point of crisping the rice and creating a crunchy yummy finish to your meal. Pick and choose from dozens of toppings and meats. Genius concept.

I love this place and as a half-Korean person, the food is on point to what I'm used to. Definitely real Korean food. You can create your own bowl, like chipotle, and pick you own vegetable toppings or you can order a meal/entree from the menu. I will be going back quite often.

The one on Charles street is piss poor. Customer service is horrible. The maneger had the nerve to say that because we decided to eat some of our food inside that it was a waste or time to tranfer the stone bowl into a togo container. The women at white marsh are amazing and their cutomer service is wounderful. If you choose to eat at Brown Rice, dont come to Charles street. The white marsh location gets 5 stars.

This used to be my FAVORITE neighborhood spot. The food is usually great, but the past two times I've been in, including like 10 minutes ago, I've been met with hostility by the server. Not quite what it is about me that makes the particular person feel they need to come off as being annoyed with me. Wish I wasn't driven away from giving you business by your employee, Brown Rice. I don't care about brown rice, but I've been told by activists that Brown Rice Matters, so I guess based on that, I'll review it. This is Korean-American, not Korean. It has very little in common with the Korean cuisine that I love so much. It is more like a Chipotle than a Korean eatery. But that's ok if you like Chipotle. I don't. I'm also sick of calling meat "protein." We're eating dead animals, people. Let's be honest here. I'm a fan of Brown Rice, and I didn't think I would be. Let's be honest, it's basically just Chipotle or Subway, but with Korean rice bowls instead. The main differences are that it's not a chain, and that it actually tastes good. Also, although the base price isn't dirt cheap, adding as much sh** as you want to that bowl is dirt cheap, so you can end up with a ton of food and a wide variety. With real Korean cuisine, you get a bunch of side dishes (many including or inspired by Kimchi), but at Brown Rice, all of those sides get mixed into the bowl. I think the biggest disappointment is probably the "protein" (like the Koreans would ever describe it as such... an extremely American concept), which they don't give you a lot of, and is okay but not amazing. It's not a high-brown place, but I can't give it more than a 4 by rice.

I was recommended Brown Rice and I chose the Charles St location. Upon arriving it was explained by the lady how the restaurant operated. My co worker asked if they did the hot stone bowl and the lady said yes. The lady with the dress and hat was very nice and informative for my first time. The food was delicious when it came out but the customer service of the guy who was the manager Keagan was the most UNPROFESSIONAL ever. He complained about the stone bowl, what they should not have done. He cursed when he touched the hot bowl and just dumped the food in another bowl WITH THE HOT STONE BOWL IN THE FOOD and still complained the whole time. He continued to say what the other lady should not have done. He wanted to know why there was no rice because I chose kale only and then he said they were not suppose to do that. I was mortified and his behavior and customer service will make sure that I NEVER go to that location again. Despite the food being good I demand customer service and there was NONE.

This place serves made-to-order Bi Bim Bap. You select the size, type of rice or kale (and they allow half rice, half kale), meat, and a number of vegetables depending on the size. Eggs are extra and they tend not to ask if you want one. Good sauce. Good meal. Healthy and fast. Two tables outside when it's warm.

The staff was friendly and greeted us when we walked in, which was a great start. The menu was a little complicated (but good, lots of options means I'll be coming back). Their employees were very patient and didn't rush us through the ordering process and had good suggestions. The everything looked very new and clean (even the rice cookers, which was a shock) -- I hope it stays that way!

Loved it! We live in the neighborhood, Charles Village. The food was fresh! veggies yummy, very simple and healthy. Flavor were there, prices weren't bad. Environment was good, we had a table outside, the street its not bad, and there is parking around. Definitely a must-try if you want something healthy and to try something new.

This place has great reviews and photos so I was super excited to try it but my first experience was so...meh. I ordered the super bowl with salmon and an extra protein serving of bulgogi but both proteins were disappointing. The salmon was over cooked and dry and there was maybe a teaspoon worth of beef in my bowl. I like that we can choose 7 veggies but they don't give much of any of them. The egg was well-cooked however - runny like it should be for these bowls. Maybe I just had a bad one because it was for delivery? Unsure if I'll risk it and try it again though...

First of all, the bad reviews do not do justice to this place. Having been to Korea last year, walking into the restaurant only brought me good memories as the smell of the amazing food we were about to eat welcomed us just as nice as the pleasant, and very helpful and informative staff. You pick from a choice of protein and rice, followed by either 5 or 7 toppings, depending on the bowl's size. The result, lots of flavor and a carefully prepared meal. The place is very clean and pleasant and we'll definetly be coming back. I'd highly recommend to anyone who's open to trying food which is above all genuinely Korean.

The B-Bowl bebimbop was a wonderful meal. Fresh natural ingredients blend together with a choice of rice and sauces. Seafood "pancake" - Korean style - and the home-made fried dumplings also great! Very nice staff and a bright clean environment. I'll be eating there frequently.

Quality is good. Portion too small. My Be bowl was 12 oz when it's supposed to be 16, and I didn't omit anything. Even before I had a chance to weight my bowl back home, I noticed it was a small portion. But hey, if it's supposed to be 12 oz than still fair game. However, being cut short by 25% is questionable to say the least.

This under-the-radar chipoltle-style Korean bowl maker is absolutely worth a shot. You will never get bored with all the different selections, such as sauce, meat, (of which they have 6+ options) vegetables (at least 12+) and more! They also have dumplings that are delicious, so, you really can't lose

I found this place on accident and love it. I hope im able to go back soon. I was a bit overwhelmed with choices but very happy with what I got. The choice of rices and kale salad for bases, meats, sauces, and really fresh veggies makes a lot of variety and customization and an overall pretty healthy meal. Also, one of the smaller bowls is easily two meals.

Brown Rice Korean Grill is Baltimore's fact casual Korean restaurant. It's a small shop in the Barclay neighborhood that serves rice bowls. The service is friendly and there are plenty of seats inside. The food is good, but not the best Korean you'll find in Baltimore. However, for the price and how fast you get it, it's still flavorful. I ordered the rice bowl with bulgogi. As you go down the line, you have an option to choose five sides or seven. Five is ample enough of sides.

Sometimes the oils they add are a little much for me, but I learned to skip and only do the hot sauces. The portions are kind of huge.
