I ate at this restaurant for the first time. It was my first time eating Indian food. The owner/head chef took our order. He asked our preferences and offered suggestions accordingly. The food and drinks were served very quickly and were delicious. I will absolutely recommend and will definitely return.

My wife and I haven't been there in a while but the owner recognized us and welcomed us with open arms. It's humbling to have someone who sees so many people walk through his doors and yet he remembers his customers. The food is outstanding with lots of spices and flavor that can be tamed by their chefs. I'm not a spicy food person but they manager to wow me without me feeling the burn. Always love going back to this place and if you haven't gone you need to check it out.

I absolutely love this location! It's always so clean. The buffet bar never has food stuck anywhere or fingerprints/ smudges on the glass, and the bathroom is always spotless. You always see them vacuuming and cleaning. Everyone is especially kind and will walk you through the menu. The food and drinks are delicious, filling and well worth the price. It's a very comfortable fine dining experience in my opinion.

This certainly is the place to be!! I've had Indian food all around the World, and this restaurant definitely ranks amongst my top 5. From day one when we moved to La Plata, I thought I'd be starved for Indian food out here & since I've had so many disappointing experiences at several other places, I didn't even want to try this one. Just assumed that I'd have to travel the hour plus whenever I needed a good Indian food fix to my old spot in DC. However, right off the bat we were greeted by such friendly staff in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, big plus to me/us! It was lunch time so there was a buffet, didn't expect too much...but whoaaa, everything we tried was super delish!! I was in awe as to the price when we received the bill as we would have easily paid much more in DC or VA. Shortly after we met the owners who are so hands on and work very hard to stay involved with their business. It's been a long time since we met such a beautiful couple, especially who work together. Needless to say, we continued to patronize this establishment and still eat there all these years later at least every other week as it turns out they offer a lunch buffet from Monday thru Sat. Friday & Saturdays carry extra fancy items like goat & fish so the price is a bit more, but totally worth it. We've even catered from them for our events & always been a hit - thanks Bollywood Massala :)

This isn’t American Indian. This is pretty close to the real Indian food. The food is EXCELLENT! They are near cuisine level good! Portion was significant, but most importantly DELICIOUS! A lot of people are put off by Indian foods, but Bollywood Masala does an outstanding job to make sure you are comfortable with what you are ordering. The staffs makes great suggestions and constantly make sure you are taken care off. A GREAT selection of menu. You won’t be disappointed!!! For $50 it feeds my wife and I for 2 meals! Everything is made fresh, so you will have to wait for your food, but it is worth the wait. Sit back and enjoy!

The staff is welcoming and friendly, and, echoing otherreviewers, have excellent recommendations based on patient inquiry and extensive knowledge of the cuisine being served. Vodkas are infused in house, drinks are genuinely delicious without being overly sweet, and the food is marvelous. Staff is welcoming to those with disabilities and treat every customer with respect and interest. This was an unexpected highlight of our trip.

Thank you to the owners and staff for bringing such a wonderful restaurant to Maryland. This place is awesome: lovely and friendly staff, delicious food, clean restaurant, delicious Indian takes on some classic cocktails like the Bollywood Old Fashioned--my favorite--and the Bollywood Mule. The first time I went the staff made perfect recommendations for me and my husband. It was such an awesome experience I brought my family when they visited. I live about 30 minutes--without traffic--from the restaurant so I go whenever I have a chance; which says a lot for having to live in an area where traffic is a nightmare. :)

We picked the restaurant because it was on the way. But we are so glad we did. It was one of the best Indian restaurant food we have eaten. The spices were just perfect, not overpowering as in many restaurants. Very good variety of dishes. The aloo tika and mango mousse were outstanding. What was also outstanding was the service, in particular the attention that the manager, Mr Mohammed Afaq gives to the diners. Overall a 5 star experience.

My sister suggested that we have lunch since I absolutely LOVE Indian cusine. This would be her first time trying Indian cusine. I live in Laurel and have my favorite spot in Columbia that a frequent. I must say this place has surpassed them. Everything was flavorful, the staff was very nice and the food was fresh. Also their lunch buffet was very resonable priced. I told my husband he must come next time and we will be making a trip around the beltway to come back and visit.

The Owner/Chef Raj recommend what to eat as it was my first time at an Indian restaurant. He even explained the level of heat that you can get. The food was seasoned well. After the meal, a bartender gave me a shot on the house. I will definitely come back.

My food was bland and watered down for the price and the curry shrimp I got 5 shrimp in the dinner sized portion it was mostly all a soupy sauce. My chicken sagwala was bland. The chicken tandoori was the best part of the meal

Head Cook is the god of spice. You will not be disappointed eating here. Lamb is good Chicken is good. Beef is good. His homemade cocktail mixes will mess you up, grab an Uber and have fun responsibly. Spice levels go to 30. Level 20 will get you to the hospital.

As many others have written, the owner/head chef paid special attention to us asking my kids about their likes and dislikes, and then offered to order the dishes for us which we immediately consented to. It was all new to my kids but they trusted in the choices taken for them and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the whole dining experience. I have had Indian cuisine before and found this to be very good and authentic. We will be back.

Delicious! Fast, and friendly. Outstanding Spices in Everything: starters, chai, rice pudding, entrees. Aloo Tikka Chat starter is earthy and smooth. Lamb and chicken curries are tender, Salmon Kadhai has great spice on outside, buttery inside, rich sauce.

My friend and I went to eat late in the afternoon. The chef and owner came to our table to talk with us about the food after he could see our indecisiveness. He asked us questions about what we liked, how we liked it. We bought in to more food than anticipated, but enjoyed each and every dish. The place was empty so while I wouldn't expect that sort of treatment every visit, it was nice to have someone cater to us with exclusivity.

I strongly recommend that everyone ignore fake reviews from people like butterfly love meant to deflect diners to Indish. Here is a simple way to tell which is better. Order Lamb saag from both places and order tandoori chicken from both places. 100% you will never waste your money on Indish after this experiment. Throwing a bunch of salt and sugar on food doesn't make it better. Who in their right mind would ask for a salt shaker at an Indian restaurant? My best friend as a kid was Sikh and I literally ate at his house 3 times a week. Indish can't touch Bollywood Masala. They simply have a longer buffet line. I even tried Indish's pizza, thinking it would be this amazing innovation like creamy mango sauce spread over garlic naan topped with delicious meats and veg, ... nope, just regular pizza with DRY chicken and a nasty, undeveloped onion taste that made no sense (and we had two different pizzas). Stick with Bollywood.

We went for the first time, and first time for Indian food. I think every staff member came to welcome us and see if we had questions (not in an annoying way). They helped recommend food choices and drinks. My husband liked the Indian beer and food was good. Spicy but not too much (they can make it spicier). I think we may need to go back a few times to find a menu favourite but that won't be too much of an ordeal.

Had the best Paneer Makhani of my life at this place that too without onion garlic. Chef Raj Malhotra was amazing .. with my customized requirements. Can never forget the experience. Will be back again whenever I am back in town. Sadly I had to leave the next day but my family went there again the very next day and packed some for the road. I've been here a handful of times. Every time it is amazing. Raj was our server tonight and could see that we wanted to try something different so he asked us very geared questions. He told us what he was going to have prepared for us and it was spot on. It's always cool to be "surprised" because you really didn't order but everything falls together like that. If he ever recommends a menu for you, just trust him.

I don't know who Terry Jones is, but I was in Bollywood Masala today. The guy comes in, has drinks at the bar, acts like he is angry and starts to leave without paying for his drinks, then is profanely rude to the very gentlemanly fellow who was hosting the dining area as he leaves, and now is calling the owner -- who was sitting near me at the opposite end of the restaurant and never spoke a single word to him -- a racist. Racist? This from someone who says in his review, "The old Indian host should be in the kitchen." Can you believe that? This man and his behavior are outrageous and libelous, in my opinion. I have eaten at this restaurant many times, and with people of many different racial backgrounds. Not once have I, or any of my friends and family, been treated with anything other than the utmost respect and courtesy by all of the staff and management at Bollywood Masala -- and this restaurant has about the most racially-diverse mix of employees that you'll find anywhere in the region. It's a shame that some unhinged and/or unhappy person can try to scam a business, then use this forum to try to damage the reputation of one of the finest businesses and individuals in the area. Look at all the many glowing reviews here, by people of all ethnic backgrounds, before you give credence to some absolute nonsense like this. What this man said is absolutely false!

Best restaurant I've ever been to. The staff is super friendly. We love seeing Muhammad every time we come in. He's the best. The food is amazing, hands down best food you can get anywhere near here. I am a super picky eater and for the longest time wouldn't eat Indian food. So sad I missed out for so long but I'm definitely making up for it now. This food is incredible. The flavor and spices are unlike anything you've ever had. They blend together so perfectly. Raj is an amazing bartender who is also the owner. Actually all the bartenders here are incredible and the drinks are as great as the food. They put a level of detail in all the drinks and you can tell that they genuinely care. There's a waiter named John I think, and he is so attentive and always keeping the place clean. You can tell all the staff want to make your experience as positive as possible and they all work so hard. We love this restaurant and go here all the time!

Excellent Indian food and great service! The young Indian hostess was wonderful and very helpful with choosing an entree based on my personal preference - Kadai Paneer. A server suggested coconut milk to use with the coffee instead of cream and to my surprise coconut milk goes well with coffee! The owner stopped by and we had a nice chat too. Sadly, no lunch buffett on Sundays and note that meals can be expensive...my lunch was $25 and included coffee. Yet, the food was really good and filling! Highly recommend if it fits in your budget.

Up front: This place is not associated with the Bollywood Masala in California, MD. La Plata Bollywood is infinitely better! I have eaten here countless times over the last couple of years. I have also eaten at a large number of Indian restaurants in the DMV (and across the country for that matter) and this place ties for my favorite overall. I've had every type of dish on the menu and I have never been disappointed. The one thing that would be a tie breaker and make them the absolute best is having a larger lunch buffet selection. Don't get me wrong, the price is great for the selection but the restaurant that ties with Bollywood has a larger weekday buffet by about 4 times this size. If you're new to Indian, the owner, "Raj", is more than happy to discuss your palate and make recommendations for you. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant is clean.

We caught them around when they were cleaning up the kitchen one night and the staff let us order takeout instead of turning us away, which we were fine with. We offered to leave and go somewhere else in trying to be understanding of the fact that the kitchen was closing, but they said they would take care of us since they had not started cleaning up yet. I have had a bad experience in the past with this location a little while after they first opened up, but this experience makes methink that may have been a fluke or a bad day. Overall the food was great and the staff seem to really strive to do a good job and make great food. Overall the food is good, but the service and wait times seem to need work

I used to work in Herndon/Reston Virgina where there are MANY Indian Restaurants and I have tried almost all of them. Bollywood hands down is the BEST Indian food I have ever had. The food is pricey but once you taste it you will understand why. Everything I have had so far has been amazing. You can taste how fresh the dishes are. It is my go to spot now for Indian food.

Ok so I hate writing negative reviews but I feel as though I have no choice in this situation. I am a vegan and was very excited to come to this place for my birthday lunch because they have many clearly labelled vegan options on the menu. I ordered an appetizer (Aloo Tiki Chat) and it was very flavorful and absolutely delicious. The problem came when I recieved my entree. I had ordered the veg vindaloo, an option CLEARLY labelled vegan on the menu. I recieved what I believed to be the veg vindaloo, I took a bite and discovered that I had been served meat. I feel quite disgusted and have been feeling sick all day because of this experience. The owner apologized and gave me a free vegan dessert but it does not really make up for the fact that I unknowingly violated one of deepest beliefs and on my birthday. I respect the owner for trying and it was certainly not his fault. VEGANS BEWARE! Please if you are a vegan eating at this establishment CUT INTO YOUR FOOD BEFORE EATING, I really wish I would have. I will say that other than the whole meat thing, it seemed like a nice place and my appetizer was actually very tasty, I am simply warning my fellow vegans to check before you bite.

Authentic Indian Cuisine, clean/great atmosphere. The Bollywood Special is a house favorite and it is really good! One thing that could use a little work on is the hospitality, my guest and I received rude and unfriendly service from a specific host, I should have asked him for his name.

Oh my ! My favorite Indian restaurant for life! My husband enjoys the drinks they make there as well because they infuse them in house . We love the flavours and the owners as well as the staff are amazing! . If you haven't had Indian food before, make sure you tell the owners they will give you all kinds of recommendations including if you don't like spicy food, there is always something for everyone!

It's my last day working in the area, and I wanted to try something new. I have passed over this place many times over the past year, and after today, I truly regret that! My order was taken over the phone by the very friendly bartender, and I was greeted by all of the employees upon walking in to pick it up. I ordered the Veggie Korma lunch platter - at $8, it was a steal! It came with soft and chewy naan, basmati rice, a fresh and light salad of tomatoes & cucumber, the most amazing potatoes with ginger and tomatoes, and the perfectly spiced Veggie Korma. This is probably the most delicious food I've had since moving to the area. I definitely am going to come back with my husband for a sit down dinner before we move away!

Very personable service and great food, both the vanilla amercanized version and authentic one (which may require exercising your aquired taste). My wife and I love both (at least the ones we tried with the help of the owner). Be prepared to ask for a box as the food is plenty and too good not to take some home. Leave some room for desert and order the chocolate naan which conjures the best of two worlds in a delicious package :) Although some say the prices are a little high, we believe that they are more than reasonable for what you get. Top quality!

The wife and I visit this restaurant frequently. The food is so delicious here, we literally salivate just thinking about it. The staff is great as well! They really make you feel like a part of their family. Very helpful, attentive, and kind! We've been going to this restaurant now for at least a year and we haven't even been able to order something new, because the Bollywood Special w/Chicken and Mango Lamb are each sooooo mouth-wateringly delicious, we're afraid to pass them up! We also order the tandoori chicken wings, the chicken kebobs, and the garlic butter naan. Everything we've eaten here thus far is BURSTING with flavor. Pro tip: If you think you like heat, these guys will humble you. They have a scale from 1 to 30 on heat level and the most I've been able to palet is a 7.

I’ve been eating at Bollywood Masala before it ever moved into La Plata and I can confidently say that I have never once had a bad meal there. The food is amazing and the service is great, and if you’re new to Indian food, their buffet offers a variety of delicious dishes for a good price Definitely my favorite restaurant in La Plata.

Won’t be back...could basically find nothing on the buffet that I consider really tasty...others may like it but the flavors just don’t work for me. Indish is a better choice for Charles County area...staff is nice enough but no waiter ever addressed me personally, like who do u ask for some salt, hot pepper...like why is there no salt on the table anyway...im eating the naan for lunch...and leaving.

Having a disconnect thinking"this is Charles County?" Wow the food was good. The service was good and we liked the chef's shtick. He came to our table and introduced himself. Then he asked what we usually like, what we usually would have order and what level of spice we like. Then he proposed alternate dishes that were similar. And we were happy with his suggestions. We will definitely be back.
