Stopped here on the way back from Harper's Ferry. They have a small parking lot behind the building so you don't have to feed the meter. They have some outdoor seating, indoor seating, and bar seating. They have a brisk takeout business and pretty much every seat in the place was taken. We sat at the bar and had some cocktails which were tasty. I ordered the pulled pork and brisket combo with mac n cheese and fresh cut fries. I hadn't eaten all day and I still couldn't finish it. The portions were huge, and the Arkansas brisket was amazing. The pulled pork was excellent as well. My better half got the 1/2 rack of ribs with dry rub. She ate all of them and sampled the 4 BBQ sauces they have on the table. Prices were decent, I think for the platters which is your meat and 2 sides it was around $17.

My wife went to the one in Middletown on the first day they opened (which is today). She said what she ordered was delicious! We will definitely go there again so I can try it. She also told me of how great the manager Tim treated her and she appreciated the outstanding customer service!

This past time I was solo, however when I was living in Frederick I came often. The food is always good and the service is fast and kind. They have a bar which is nice. I'm in love with the mac and cheese. They also have a small free parking lot for customers.

Phenomenal ribs! I came on a Tuesday where they had a full rack of Spare ribs with the dry rub for the price of a half rack. They were so flavorful. Great service as well. Highly recommend this place.

Wow! Just wow! I went there with my family after a long day(4 people) and we took the family platter with all their meats and some sides. I went back there 4 times with my family to Eder the same thing! Their hot sausage is insane and their pulled pork and brisket is never disappointing with very tasty and different homemade bbq sauce. Also, their sides are very good! Their collard greens, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, their beans, it’s all amazing!would recommend

Best ribs I've ever had outside of Texas. And the brisket - better than bacon! Black Hog is well worth going out of your way for. The staff is super friendly as well. Their sauces are good but you won't need them - the food is amazing as is! We arrived just after opening which was perfect because it wasn't too crowded and our food came out fast and hot.

I can not say just how wonderful our lunch was today at The Black Hog BBQ on Market Street in Frederick. Right from the moment we walked in, Jamie was there to guide and provide us with the most fun and delicious lunch ever! She treated us to some tastes of her favorite menu items! The food was amazing, only second to getting to know Jamie. We are from Texas and as Jamie said, we know our BBQ. We really loved everything about our lunch and it ended with hugs fromJamie and promises from us to return next time we are in town!

Enjoyed the Smoked Beef Brisket platter with baked beans and potatoe salad. I am stuffed and probably gonna eat some enzymes to help digest this mass of meat.. The meat was very tender, a tad fatty but the sauce made it disgustingly delicious. It would be nice to see some more veggie options on the menu but all around it's a good meal!

Delicious BBQ Ribs!!! Small restaurant with a nice cozy bar where you can have some delicious ribs. They were juicy and tender and the flavor was there. The cheeseburger was juicy and full of flavor. Nice staff and awesome customer service. Outside seating and plenty of parking in the back.

I had 1/2 BBQ chicken with a dry rub. Food was all home cooked to perfection. Quick service, they always seem to be busy. There are specials several days a week.The food is inexpensive for such a hearty portion of meat. They have a bunch of varieties of BBQ, wet or dry, Texas, Kansas, St.Louis, Carolina. Very casual dress because you are likely to make a mess

Went here for dinner with a buddy and it turned out to be rib night. It was a nice price for a full rack of ribs which we split along with some baked beans and pork fries. Definitely some of the very best dry rub ribs I've had in MD. The KC BBQ sauce was also excellent. No disappointments with the beans or fries either. A win all the way around!

I would recommend this restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful. The gumbo was appropriately smokey from the sausage and chicken. The pit ham was the second best ham I have ever had. Carolina chopped pork was good and the east Carolina vinegar sauce was among the best I have had.

On first impression, the restaurant felt a bit basic. The tables and chairs were cafe-like which was not you might expect from the external appearance of the restaurant. Anyway, we were too embarrassed to turn around and walk out, so we sat down. Glad we did because the ribs were great. Being from England, I still don’t understand why we get corn bread with ribs. I mean, it’s basically cake! I’ll stop there. If you like ribs, give Black Hog a try!

Excellent and speedy and friendly service, even better food. We both got the "triple mofo" which is a hearty, "specialty sandwich". It had pork shoulder, ham amd brisket and swiss cheese. It was SO GOOD. They let us substitute the regular brisket with the Arkansas brisket which was very nice of them. Arkansas brisket was outstanding as well as the ham and pork shoulder. As my side i got "greens" which were some of the best I've had and he got the fries which were fresh and hand cut. It was a great first visit and we will be back when we're in that area again. Unlike most of downtown Frederick-it also has it's own parking lot!

I am so grateful to this place and the Management- my child left her iPad and we didn’t realize it till Sunday when they are closed- They were so helpful and gracious and were willing to come on a Sunday to open the place to give us the iPad back - Grateful since we were from out of town and had to return home on Sunday. Memorial Day Weekend - 4 pm, NO ribs! Sitting here for 50 min, no food in sight ... checked with the waitress. Everybody else got their food in 10 min or so ... Our food order got lost in semi-empty restaurant!!! When complained, the waitress said that she is not cooking in the kitchen, she just works here. Holiday weekend feels spoiled ... shame!

A small town local BBQ restaurant in Frederick, MD with reasonable priced, but awesome tasty menu entrees! Traveled down from PA with 4 other employees to upgrade the IT hardware in the local office. After upgrades were complete and tested asked for a recommendation for a good local BBQ joint. With no hesitations, Black Hog BBQ Bar was mentioned and off we went for the 5 minute drive. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Quick turn around on the ordered entrees and complete silence from everyone as we all enjoyed our meals. The pulled pork BBQ sandwich with Cole slaw was delicious! Definitely will return if we have to make another office visit in the future.

The chicken on the other hand was the best I've ever had. The seasoning was fantastic, and the chicken was crispy and juicy.

Emily, for starters! Not welcoming when I entered the establishment. Yea I get it, 30 minutes before close, that's my fault for waiting to eat. I'm sorry. The lack of etiquette was pretty astonishing though. My food was good, nothing to write home about but it was good. Probably won't be back. There has to be other places where the waitress doesn't sit down to eat, before filling a drink up.

I've never been to the restuarant but saw the sign while driving to the Appalachian trail this morning. I laughed for 10 straight minutes and then everytime I thought about it for the rest of the day. Kudos to the the owners, of what I'm sure is fine establishment, on the hilarious name they picked for their restaurant. Black hog... priceless.

Black Hog is one of my favorite places to get barbecue in Frederick. It's a little pricey compared to other options in the area, but it's definitely worth it for the spices in the flavor that comes in the food. Also they have half-price ribs on Tuesday which makes it a better deal for a full or half rack. The only issue I have is it's an extra $5 for another side, which is absolutely not worth it for the small little cup they give you. Definitely do not add a side onto your meal. Otherwise a pretty good place. Also I've never experienced rude service here, nothing but the best from the servers and the bartenders.

Went here on Wednesday as a recommendation from a friend. The special of the day was 1/2 price ribs when you order a full rack. I like the fact they offer various styles of bbq; mop, dry rub, or sauced. I wanted to try the pulled pork and brisket because those are my favorites. The best part of my visit was finding the spicy vinegar sauce that I used to enjoy while living in North Carolina. My recommendation is the Kansas City (sweet) for brisket, and Carolina Vinegar for the pulled pork. I hope the opportunity arises in the future for a return. Lastly I drank a unique IPA made with 51% Rye. Monument brewing - check it out.

These folks knocked traditional BBQ out of the park. I'd put their food up against ANY well known BBQ joint nationwide and let me assure you they could make an excellent showing. This restaurant has a good location right in the heart of historic Frederick. We visited when the restaurant wasn't too busy, and received prompt and friendly service. Appetizers (gumbo and fries) and entrees (barbeque) were decent, but the sides (apart from being quite small) left much to be desired. The mac and cheese side was a disgrace, dry and lumpy. Cornbread was cold. Our server was very upbeat and kind, but she refilled my husband's half-drunk lemonade with water (and we still got charged over $3 for the one lemonade).

Awesome local barbecue chain. Good service, great food, and remarkably fast too. Delicious table service barbecue that's almost as fast as a day food joint. Macaroni and cheese is as good as you'll find anywhere. The sweet potatoes were just as good until they recently took them off the menu. Would have been five stars if the sweet potatoes were still available.

We were looking for lunch 4 our employees and we saw their website online. The prices looked good so we ordered some sandwiches. It turns out the prices on the website are over a year old. The food was fine but it was not labeled clearly. They said along sauces we had no idea what they were. It was quite disappointing.
