This was by far one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to In My Life. The lamb was nothing less then fabulous. The flavors had my wife and I practically licking our bowels! Also the atmosphere is quite inviting. If I had to complain about anything it would probably be the fact that the bathroom is a single stall... But that and no way reflects the quality of the food. My hats off to this restaurant for being an example of what all restaurants should bring ... Minus the bathroom situation. God bless.

Warning ! My wife, our good friend and I were poisoned! The food was loaded with MSG and Salt. I had chest pains all night. My wife's blood pressure was 171/108. She never has High Blood Pressure. We could not sleep and all of us spent the night urinating after drinking quarts of water due to extreme thirst. You have been warned.

We enjoy having dinner here. They have very good food, a nice atmosphere and a very good wait staff. We especially enjoy the vegetable dishes and the tandoori sampler. It's nice that we no longer have to leave Annapolis to get really good vegetarian Indian food.

I want to write a great review and make it long but I am so full of delicious food right now I can't. But I can tell you the service was amazing from start to finish. The food was exactly right from the seasoning to the style of cooking for each and every dish. I was even able to order goat which is not on the menu but can be requested. The nan bread was as if i was in India myself. I won't go on but if your in the area and you like this cuisine then it's a must try. I will be back very soon.

Lovely atmosphere and great Indian food! I wish there were more Indian places around to compare it with but my friends and I tried this place a few weeks ago and left very full and satisfied. It might seem like the prices for the dishes are high but they give you a lot of food so it ends up being reasonably priced. One dish can feed two people comfortably. No one came to greet us, other than give us water, until we’d put down our menus which was a little weird but didn’t bother us.

Excellent lunch buffet. Wide variety vegan,non vegan with salads, naan, entrees and desert varieties. Fresh and flavorful. My firat time here. They had weekend buffet lunch not just weekday. I found a nice fish dish breaded and fried. It would have been wonderful except batter wasmuch too salty. Hopefully other days not. Other disheswere not too salty so I hope it was mistake. The fish inside breading was sweet and good it was ashame i could not enjoy more due to saltiness of batter. I will come again. Was a good find despite one flawed dish that I hopeis better next time.

After living in South Africa where the Indian food is very authentic, I often find myself ordering with the expectation that my curry will be less spicy than it is in Africa. Not so with this restaurant; the spiciness was on point. Even as I felt my chapped lips burning and my eyes beginning to water a little, I couldn't stop myself from taking and savoring the next bite. We, husband and I generally go for the lunch buffet on sat. The food is great, a good variety to sample different dishes especially if one has not tried Indian flavors or are unfamiliar with certain dishes. The staff is friendly, courteous, polite. The atmosphere is calm, restaurant is clean. It is nice for an afternoon lunch or a cozy dinner. Thank you to the staff for pleasant dining experience.

Always outstanding service and delicious authentic Indian food, a large variety to choose from with the option to have mild, medium or spicy. Very welcoming, clean, intimate atmosphere even when full, and nice cultural decorations. My favorite is Chicken Patia (medium spice) with lots of vegetables in a perfectly seasoned delicately spicy sauce, garlic naan and mango yogurt drink. Love it!

If you are Indian you will regret it. My advice. Buffet was tastless and all the menu is repeated i was here for 1 week and samosa is raw its not cooked fully After eating top the bottom is raw flour i took 2 samosas both were under cook i might get sick so I skipped it . And if you are from New York or New Jersey you will hate the food here its better you eat something else than here. If you compare this restaurant from upstate they will not be in business more than a month because i have eaten authentic Indian food. And you know how Indian food tastes. During my visit I saw their most costomers are white that's why it's still in business. People don't have options in this area so they are stuck with it. Indian people know about this place that's why they don't come here... ☺️

Worst food I have ever eaten in my life and Restaurant name is Basmati and The basmati rice was not fresh so we told them to take it back and they didn't replace it, so we waited for 5 minutes that they would bring fresh rice but no one bothered to check so after waiting and waiting we called the waiter and requested him to get us a naan instead of rice and basmati platter that we ordered all chicken was not cooked all the way And dont ask me about chicken korma it is the most common recipe it was the worst believe me I didnt eat anything and when it was brought to the notice of the owner he gave us a bitter look and no apologies...worst experience since I like to have dinner in different restaurants..

Weekend buffet was complete waste of money. There was hardly any variety and the food was tasteless. They had dahi wada which was just medu wada dipped in raita. Don’t get fooled by the ratings, I wouldn’t even give it a single star.

They are always so good to me here! The waiters are very attentive. The food is amazing! They level the spice as you would like, yes they do ask. Cute birthday celebration. Decor is nice and fitting. Food was okay! Service was okay! Non-veg dishes my friend ordered were either too bland or full of black pepper . We ordered baingan bharta which was okay, could have been more yummy. Dal makhni was really up to the mark. We couldn’t differentiate between the tandoori roti and kulcha!!!! Both looked similar to a nan.

It is a nice place in Annapolis area to have Indian food. The restaurant is clean and has great ambiance. We tried their weekend buffet that has good appetizers however main course didn't have many choices especially for vegetarians. The dessert has two choices Kheer(rice pudding) and halwa. The kheer was delicious but halwa was ok. Staff was friendly offering good service. Wish they had more vegetarian choices for main course.

Classy restaurant good for special occasions or a date. Many food selections to choose from and the food is well prepared. Service staff are well dressed and professional. It is a bit pricey at $15 to $25 a plate but that is to be expected with the quality food and atmosphere.

I suppose that arriving at 8.30pm on a Sunday night is not the best time base your first impressions. The meat samosa was too dry and reheated properly it tasted off. The lamb bhuma ...the lamb was great but the vegetables added to were cooked in an excessive amount of ghee for a dish that had a tomato based sauce. Their chicken Korma was delicious as was their basmati rice. At 8.45 they mentioned that the kitchen was closing , if we needed anything else. I wish I send the lamb back to kitchen for another of the chicken dishes. I would try their restaurant again just not late on a Sunday night.

There was a time when this restaurant was quite nice, but it has seriously regressed in service. The last straw for me was being micro-managed while at the buffet, then being told that I can't put too much of one item on my plate. Great variety of curries and rices, including my favorite Basmati Pullao. My experience is limited to Basmati's delivery and take-out, which is admittedly a blind spot in reviewing the restaurant's quality. That being said, we love getting food from Basmati but it's been inconsistent the last few iterations. Spice level feels very inconsistent (is this "American medium" or "Indian medium") which is super tough for a delivery-based experience with no way to soup it up or balance it out if needed. For the mildest dishes, the spice/flavor tastes vaguely different from a Butter Chicken.

The food was not as tasteful as I was expecting it to be. Previous years its was good but it was the worst Indian food ever, it was stale and and had no taste what so ever. Like soup that was expired it tasted like that after eating the food it gave food poisoning and made me and my other people throw up.

I've never been disappointed in Basmati. When we're in the area, this is our go-to Indian restaurant without question. The service is always stellar, they always get the order right, and they treat you with both respect and courtesy. The waitstaff consistently go above and beyond; once, they even gave us a free appetizer because we waited for a table. It was our own fault for not getting a reservation (oops) but they made our wait as comfortable as possible. And the food! So good. I usually get the Chicken Tikka, and it's delicious every time. Highly recommended.

The menu prices are very reasonable actually. They treat their customers like royalty. We ordered food last night. It was very disappointing. We Requested Medium flavored curries. What we received instead was scoulding fire hot curries that were not fit to eat. When you get gripping stomach pains after a meal you know something is not right as well as constant sweating after the meal. Almost $50 down the drain. The Chef needs to comprehend the difference between Chilli Hot and nuanced and fragrant spices. It's a shame because on other occassions its been fine. But lastnight has put me off the Basmati for awhile.

Now, really, I did not think that I’d find a place that I liked as well as the Indian Restaurant that, sadly, went out of business due, I think, from rent increases. However my recent visit has proved me somewhat wrong. The food is traditional, they will cater to vegetarians and the service for even a group of 7 women was not bad at all. Sadly, the food didn't live up to the hype created by the decor, fussy service, and comparatively high menu prices. My rice was dry and flavorless (not a good look, especially in Indian cuisine), and the masala used in my curry seemed as though it wasn't thoroughly cooked in ghee the way it should be, so the cumin was raw tasting and out of balance in the dish. My son's biryani was pretty good, but not remarkable enough to make me want to return. Nothing we had was bad, but it wasn't great, either.

Food is so good but service is very poor. We waited 1.5 for our food. We ordered my kids food with our appetizer but they had to wait for over an hour. If we had to wait b/c they were very busy, I can understand that part but others food came first even though they came after us. We have to remind them that we also have order other things that should be bring with it but again it's will take another 20-30 minutes. This was our 2nd time there but no more. We won't go there ever again.

Basmati is Truly our favorite place to eat. We have the lunch buffet once a week. Great selection and never disappointing. When we have lunch here, we only have a small dinner...if anything..lol. I definitely recommend the buffet as a way of sampling their food!!

Not bad and the service was impeccable. However,I think the old India's on West St. tasted better.

We always have a good experience at either the lunch buffet or dinner. We are usually a large group with kids and the staff could not be kinder. The food is delicious.

Usually when we go to Basmati, the staff was excellent and the food was amazing. Sadly, this was not one of those times. I understand if the restaurant was busy, but people who were seated AFTER us were waited on BEFORE us, and they got their food before us. That was extremely unacceptable. Not only that, but the staff for the two groups seated after us were waited on a lot, while we barely had someone wait on us. The food was 5 stars, but the staff was 3 stars.

My favorite Indian food in Annapolis. The ambiance, the service and the food are all wonderful. The only thing I would ask is that lunch buffet be extended to 2:30p as I like to avoid the lunch time rush and eat later especially since this restaurant is becoming increasingly more popular. I would also suggest expanding the buffet to dinner time as I am a big fan of sampling various dishes.

This review is only of the lunch buffet as I have not yet sampled the menu. I stopped in for a quick lunch and was treated to an uneven experience. The sag korma, naan and dal were delicious. The pakoras and other fried items were cold and rubbery. There were two kinds of desserts and warm chai, which was a nice touch. Overall an uneven bag, but well priced at only 11.95 for all that they offer.
