Food took 50 mins because they forgot to put order in. frozen food and can food taste. Need some big changes before I would think about going back. I'm not that picky and this was so bad i Took a few bits and left to go get something else to eat. I hope it was just a bad night for them.

AWFUL!!!! The brisket looked like it was rotten, the ribs had no flavor other then lighter fluid, chicken burnt, chili- worst ever. We were hoping for a good bbq place closer to home but have no problem at all to continue going to Bucks in Freeport! Defiantly NOT recommended!!!

Well the place is beautiful the owner and staff were very friendly I thought it was a bit pricey and if the food was better that wouldn't be an issue however the food was not even a little bit good I didn't like one thing so in my opinion save your money

We attended a motorcycle night event. They had a buffet that was overpriced and only included a piece of chicken and a pork sandwich. The barbecue was mediocre at best. Maybe it would be better to try this place on a regular business day, but based on what we saw that day we will not be back unfortunately.

The food and service at The Pit is always exceptional. I recommend trying the steak dinner, or just stopping in to have a drink at the bar. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights adds a nice touch to a night out.

Love this place! My husband and I go with our 7 years old every week to enjoy the Ribs. We tried the steak this week and is one of our new favorites. Also loved the Bama Burger....home made potato salad and mac and cheese and my favorite side dishes. My only suggestion for customers is to make reservations for larger parties as every time we go it fills up quickly due to everyone loving the place and i am always shocked when 8 plus groups of people show up without reservations and that is not fair to the restaurant. Robin, Logan and CT give great service and are always attentive.

Fantastic place to eat. Drove to Maine from Hanson mass on a business trip. Was driven here by a customer after dropping off a car. I needed to kill some time waiting for my ride back and needed something to eat. Waitress was very kind and didn’t give me a hard time about being there for over an hour and a half with only ordering an appetizer. Had French onion soup and that was one of the best I’ve had. Finally my ride came, had dinner with me and the main courses were fantastic. Had a burger with pulled pork and my ride had ribs, chicken and potato skins. I little a little if each and nothing disappointed and I’m pretty critical about my food.

It was such an amazing first time for my husband and I. DC, our bartender was so informative to the history of the building. He also was very helpful in choosing our meal choice. This Is a place you have to try if you never been. Beautiful ambiance! Also a big shout out to the Kitchen, who prepare these wonderful meals!

Beyond disappointing. Flavor was mediocre at best, kitchen was slow when the dining room was empty - thankful service was good. Ordered potato skins, ribs, pulled pork - and one kid meal - $100. Pricing and portions not aligned - inconsistent between dishes. Pulled pork was covered in overwhelming sauce - traditional BBQ joints in the south don't pre-coat meat - allow the patron to enjoy your sauces on the side - or have none at all - for the smokey flavor.

2 stars because my wife's steak was cooked perfect. NO ribs at a bbq place on a Thursday night. You have a giant sign out front that says Best bbq ribs ever. I had the Brisket sandwich and for 14.95 it should have had more then 4oz of meat. I should have taken a picture. Service was good but very slow for only having 6 tables seated. I probably wont be back.

I thought this place was decent for a bbq joint. The brisket had far too much fat and no flavor including the smoke. The pulled pork had good flavor but no smoke flavor. The ribs had great smoke flavor but nothing else. The chicken had great smoke flavor and great flavor on it. The dirty fries I thought was supposed to have seasoning and gravy, it just had the gravy but it was still decent.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary at the BBQ Pit. Big Mike and his crew did a fantastic job making our special day, extra special. The BBQ ribs, pulled pork and teryaki wings really hit the spot! My beautiful, thoughtful, loving daughter reserved the function room for 20 or so family and friends. We all had a wonderful time!

Bad service, wait staff is by far the worst. food is way over priced and seems like store bought sides. also seems like they like to use the microwave way to much. all and all lousy food. have gone 3 time's now just to give it a fighting chance and each time was just if not more disappointing as the first. The Pitt is a great name for this place.

Had several things being our first time. Half rack ribs and chicken quarter combo. Chilly dog and i put slaw on it which came as a side. Three more sides were Baked beans, green beans, and dirty rice. The greenbeans way to salty. We got a add on of Brisket which was super juicy. The ribs were excellent and chicken too. Tryed a small side of the Mac and Cheese and that was just OK. As a whole I would say you have to try it if you like BBQ.

First impressions are a last impression. Since the pit opened we've been dying to try it && never did until today . We didn't eat in so I don't know how fast service is dine in but take out is super fast && still hot when you get it home. definitely would eat here again and again and again ! The chili is to die for and the wings are a must ! Next time we order from here I'll be trying something new . 10 ★ for sure !

Went to try first time and was very dissapointed. After waiting 15 minutes i went up to the bar to let the waitress know we were there. She barely apologized. "Oops sorry" the 2 people that came in after us almost finished eating before we got our food. The food was overpriced and was less than anything special. It was pretty cold by the time we got it. The side of mac and cheese was some store bought box kit. The steak and cheese was just under burnt. All in all a bad experience. Its too bad that the time isn't taken to make your customers feel welcomed.

A nice warm Spring day and BBQ felt like the right meal to have. Since the grill at home wasn’t quite ready, we decided to check out The Pit Bar & Grill. It always good to go to a local restaurant and see it busy. For a Saturday night around 6:30pm, we were seated after a ten-minute wait. Our server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. However, she came back to take our dinner order before our drinks were brought to our table. The bar was busy and the wait was expected. We had barely looked at our menu. We weren't ready to order. Our drink order arrived. We had a question about one of the combos. We received our answer and was told that the ¼ chicken was sold out. We asked for another minute before we ordered. We ordered a couple of appetizers and our meals. Our server returned a few minutes later. They were out of a couple more entrée selections. We had to choose something else. Our server returned and we ordered our alternatives. We asked about our appetizers and were told that the order was never placed, our server was waiting for our complete order. Disappointed, we cancelled our appetizer order. Our server was polite and attentive. She was new and apologized for the mistake. The missed appetizers were most likely due to a lack of experience and/or training by management. It’s also disappointing to be at a restaurant at 6:30pm on a Saturday night and find a few main entrée items unavailable. It may be expected to run out of the “special of the day” but you can’t run out of 3 main entrées. We received our meals promptly and everything was hot and delicious. I’m sure we’ll go back but hopefully they’ll have what we want.

My brother liked the ribs so much he passed up the sauces. All the sauces were very good, but the smokey bbq and a spicy Chipotle ranch-like dressing were fantastic. They don't skimp on detail either, we had homemade baked beans, green beans, collards and mashed potatoes for sides, all amazing! Yummy conrnbread too.

Sneaky good. It's Maine, but if you told me Paula Dean was back in the kitchen, I'd have believed it. That good. I had the half rack of ribs thinking i was being sensible. I should have seen it coming when the waitress brought out a bucket of sauces.... followed by a massive plate of 9 ribs! I had to double check to see if she mistook my order for the full. Nope. I was committed. Try the dirty fries for extra punishment.

This place was pretty good -- but just beware that the ribs are smoked, not grilled. I wanted to like the ribs more but they were extremely fatty. I'd definitely go with one of their sandwiches or burgers though!! And the cornbread and other sides are amazing. Nice atmosphere, live music, not my favorite place for ribs, but will go back and try the other menu items.

I had 1/2 rack of dry rub ribs and they were so tender, tasty and juicy! The atmosphere & decor is comfortable & rustic. Bonus of live music! The dude sang country & 70's. I would deffinately recommend and we will be going back!

Who ever said the food was “a bit pricy” must be used to eating at a fast food restaurant. My husband, adult daughter, and myself ate here tonight. I had the pulled pork which I have to rate as the best I have ever had. My daughter had the mini combo of pulled pork, brisket & chcken with potato salad and green beans such as I have never tasted. She even said the potato salad had an excellent taste. My husband had bbq’d chicken (which he couldn’t finish), ribs plus Mac and cheese. The amount of meat on the ribs was outstanding. We all sampled each other’s food and were very pleased. On top of that they had great live entertainment. We summer in Maine so the BBQ Pit is now on top of our list of places to eat.

Pretty decent for bbq in Maine. I have not had the briscut yet, however I have had almost everything else. The ribs and pulled chicken are awesome, the pulled pork is decent and the chicken quarters were ok. Sides aren't too bad, but I wish they had a good tangy southern slaw. Collard greens were decent, as were the rest of the sides.

While the wait staff was very pleasant, the food was cold, the meat dry. I VERY strongly suspect that what I ate on Thursday was originally cooked the previous weekend and just re-heated. The rib meat was tough, not tender. same for the "pulled chicken" which was very dry, not tender, and had bits of cartilage throughout making it pretty much inedible (and certainly NOT appetizing.) If I ignore the dryness, the flavor was good but flavor alone couldn't save this meal. The atmosphere can probably be best described as High School Cafeteria - there is one big open dining room filled with picnic tables, and a second large bar room. This is NOT Famous Dave's. The bottom line - if they don't improve the quality of the food, they will be closed in under 6 months.

Waiter was amusing and friendly ^-^ .The food was so great! I got the pulled chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese and a vegetable side and it came with corn bread so it all hit the spot! Have never heard of the place before today so stopped by and it was a quirky little place . Completely worth the visit and the pricing was very reasonable! Can't wait to bring more friends and have another visit! Oh and the wait for food was very very short. So overall seriously great

We were sadly disappointed this evening, ordered take out from the pit. Brisket had decent flavor but no sauce on my sandwich. Or on the side. The smoke house I worked at we made our own and was hoping to get a chance to try theirs. It Bummed me out pretty bad. And not nearly as much a portion of meat as I was expecting, for the price I was charged for the 2 sandwiches. Doesn't seem to me the cooks have that much passion for what they do. Maybe just a bad shift? 2 poorly prepared brisket sandwiches and poppers for 35$. Its just wasn't what I was expecting I guess. Maybe I'm bias my pops is from Mobile so I've had Alabama Bbq, which is not by any means what I got tonight. Or maybe with the good things I've heard about the place, I was just expecting more.

Great food and big portions. Great beer selection, they aren't always consistent enough with the mixed drinks being listed, that's really important when you have customers that don't know the names of drinks. A mixed drinks menu like they have with beer would be great! That's literally my only complaint about the pit, I can't think of any reason to rate less than 5 stars, if you haven't been there yet, you're missing out!

Im from the south and this barbecue doesn't stack up very dry. very disappointing. Price is way way way overpriced. I could get a full rack of ribs and all the fixings for 11.95 in the south. 2 people to spend over 80.00 is crazy. we didn't do anything special. They are going to have to adjust the pricing and the quality of the food. so disappointed.
