Food was great as usual! Paige, needs a refresher in hospitality. Example: Older gentleman at the table across from us ordered coffee for his empty cup that was on his table. Paige brings the gentleman an urn of coffee, planks it on the table without so much as a pour (and out of the reach of the man) and walks away. We usually have great all around experiences here, but this was a bit off putting. Paige (today 1 star) this is not a slam, just a constructive observation.

The food is amazing. However, a 25 minute wait for a table in a restaurant that is easily 2/3 empty and another 25 minute wait for food seems a bit much. This latest visit may have been a bit of a fluke and I'm hoping that they can step up their game for the next time.

Me and my boyfriend stopped in for breakfast on our way to Massachusetts. First time for both of us. The waffles were delicious. Good amount of food on both of our plates. It was a busier morning but got our food in a good time and our waitress was nice.

It has the atmosphere of a Denny's but the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. Sort of a hidden gem in that it looks so tacky on the outside, but it's very much worth it. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. I'd love to see them open up a location near downtown and freshen up the vibe.

Had breakfast here before my wedding and made a special trip to go again last weekend. Not a greasy spoon dinner, great food and lots of windows and sunlight. Nice atmosphere.

Went here for dinner as it was conveniently located next to our hotel room. Started our day with a heavy breakfast. I got the mushroom omelette with buttered toast and mixed fruits. Coffee on the side, as per usual. My partner got potatoes on a skillet (don’t remember what it’s called exactly) and orange juice. Staff was really friendly, helpful and efficient. No wait time so we were really satisfied!

The only breakfast I have ever had worse than this place served my son and I was the Super8 SuperStart breakfast from the 90's. The one that had eggs that didn't need refrigeration... I'm pretty sure the toast and English muffin we had were leftovers from the Super8. Really.

This was my first visit. I found the food hot and tasty. We were seated at a table that had a very cool airflow. The waitress gladly reseated us by the window -much better! Each person got their own carafe of coffee/ hot water for tea. I had the seasonal aquash/carrot soup (divine!) and half of a chicken salad sandwich. The bread was crispy and salad very good, although a bit messy to eat. I will definitely be back again !

I found this restaurant a bit PRICY!! The waiting servers were VERY friendly and we didn't have to wait long after ordering!! However me and a friend ordered the most basic ham & egg breakfast!! The ham was a little salty & the potatoes were little diced dried out cubes that almost tasted frozen!! Our bill They came $30.00 including a tip!!

I can't believe how understaffed they were on Labor Day. After ten minutes waiting the hostess made an appearance, but no one there seemed to have any idea what was going on. It was basically just a crowd of customers being ignored.

Waiting 25 min from the time my order was placed for BREAKFAST food is insane. Also I was there for at least 10 min before anyone even came over to say hi. The restaurant wasn’t even full. No excuse for the slow service, and even slower kitchen.

My group and I ate here for breakfast, they have super yummy juices, the pineapple tonic was amazing. Everything was great from the eggs Benedict to the two egg breakfast! The service was great, we can't wait to return the next time we are in Portland.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. They said it would be 15-20 mins to be seated, then they seemingly forgot about us because we didn’t get seated for over an hour. Then we finally sat down, the waitress never came over, the food was cold when we finally got it. Do not go here!

I don’t usually do reviews, however, the service that my wife and received on our recent visit was fabulous. We had been waiting for our order to be served and noticed people who were seated after us being served. When I questioned the staff I was told that someone Made a mistake and the order didn’t go in. The manager came out immediately and apologized and said our meal was on the house and also gave us a gift card for a future visit. Our meal was served within 5 minutes. We will be back next time we’re in Portland

We were staying at the Ramada and went to for breakfast. The hostess sat a party walked by said he right back. Outside customers came in . She was told party of 10-15 coming in. She walked by again and started talking to other customers. Husband walked over and said we were waiting. To which she said yes and started taking other customers name. We left feeling over looked we found another place lace to have breakfast

Great diner! I love their eggs benedict, since they have several kinds. I got the Parisian Benedict. It was surprisingly good. I was a little taken back because of the generous mixed greens on the side, but it complemented the eggs very well. This particular property impressed me quite well. My server was very hospitable and checked on me consistently. My water glass was filled the whole time. I love how they leave an entire pot of coffee at your table!

Place was horribly understaffed. Waited almost an hour to be seated. And as we walked through the restaurant at least half the places to sit where just empty. Food was average but nothing special. Overall it took us 2 hours to have breakfast. What staff that was available though was super nice considering the situation.

I recently went to 'The Egg and I' in Westbrook Maine with my partner. We walked in and were seated by a guy named Grady. We both got the eggs Benedict, which were awesome and the service was great. But after our breakfast I wanted to call the cops because I saw that Grady was commiting a crime, because it has GOT to be illegal to be that handsome. Man 'O man, wow! Not a single flaw. I told my partner I was leaving him and he said "Not if I dump you first". The sign should read, 'The Egg and I, and Grady'. LoL

They were a bit short staffed today, but the service was still excellent and the food was great. We had the hash with 2 eggs poached w Hollandaise sauce. Hash has smoked ham and bacon. Highly recommended for breakfast at this place if u are nearby

Quick and clean. Menu had a bunch of flair to it, but after a hard night when you want a simple breakfast that isn't going to feed your heartburn this might not be the place. The food was entirely fine, and was nothing to complain about-- although someone should point out that not everything that is served needs to have a signature twist of some kind.

I am surprised this place is rated so high. It was very mediocre. The service was very good but the coffee was not. The food came hot but the quality of the ham and bacon we had was terrible. Nothing cooked incorrectly, but just low quality. I guess you get what you pay for and this place is not too expensive, so I shouldn't have had higher expectations. They did not live up to my expectations. Barely better than an IHop.

First visit to this chain that we've been eyeing for a while now. It was pretty good!! Great breakfast selections that are not your same old boring breakfast menu items, and some that are, if that's what you're looking for! We will definitely go back. The service was also great.

I'm gluten free, and I miss biscuits and gravy and french toast, so I'm a bit hard on breakfast places. ;) The service totally made up for the so-so food. Lots of smiles, clean space, responsive staff. I'll be back.

This is our go-to place when were up in Portland to visit our friends. Good food, good price, great atmosphere and service. Fyi you pay up front after the meal so don't wait for the server to pick up the check!

Even though it was father's Day, I noticed that the dining room was 40 to 50% full. Our group of 6 still waited for 45 minutes to be seated . . we finaly got coffee appx 10min after that. The meal came 15 to 20 min after that. We spent approximately 2.5 hours there but the meals were excellent. The waitress never brought additional coffee unless asked and syrup was not supplied unless asked.

This was one of the most disappointing breakfasts I have ever had. They don't have American cheese, which is the best omlette cheese. The omlette itself looked like it was microwaved not from fresh eggs. The coffee was mediocre. The food was bad enough but the service was awful too. Long wait time but we could see empty tables. I asked the hostess about the empty tables to which she answered "it's so our staff isn't overwhelmed." This was a Sunday morning, when they should expect no it to be busy. My boyfriend and I were highly disappointed and neither of us finished our breakfast. The highlight was the ranch potatoes but otherwise we we're very disppointed. We won't be back.

We had a great breakfast here! Friendly, fast service and the food was hot and tasty. My husband had the lobster Benedict. The price was reasonable for what it was, but he said there was really not enough lobster in it to make him feel like he had lobster. They gladly exchanged the side to fresh fruit for him (pictured). I ordered the Mediterranean frittata, and asked for the tomatoes instead of the English muffin. This was good, but I honestly think it could have been a little spicier. But that is just a matter of opinion and personal taste. All in all, I would recommend and go back! Good value for the money! .

I was generally pretty pleased with this place. I was in Portland for a graduation and stopped here the morning after. Pretty standard US breakfast fare and my food was pretty good. I bought their special hot sause because that was awesome! We didn't wait to sit, the waitress was the best part, she was great! All and all I'd recommend. I'm not sure I'd go 5 stars because they offer well executed standard food versus creative dishes I'm excited to try but that's just me. Also only been once so can't yet speak for consistency.

No pet friendly place... verry disappointed first the lady say yes to go to the terrace outside then... you have to put your dog outside on the road.. Nobody on the terrace just why and we disturb nobody. Never again this place. If you don't like my little dog you don"t like people.

What can I say, I'm a fan. Some pretty interesting selections that I was not used to seeing but everything was fresh and delicious. I have been back a few times since the first time I went and have not always had the best service (hence the 4 stars) but that is my only complaint. It is worth noting none of the servers were ever rude, some just indifferent and seemed like they didn't care about their job. Service with a smile is a great philosophy to live by.

In my latest visit to Portland I went here with my elderly mother. She and I both love the soup! We both enjoyed the soup and sandwich option. I've been here for breakfast too and have no complaints at all. Love the option of real maple syrup. Service was wonderful too.

I like coming to the Egg & I and frequently come here for breakfast with my kid or with friends/family. I've always had excellent service, their staff are super nice. They have great food, and I love their waffles and home fries. If you're looking for a good place to have breakfast/lunch this is the place to go. Way better than IHOP and Denny's.

Why the rating because if you're in a busy intersection you must be ready to serve my wife and I came in the greeter wetw disorganized... You can see waitresses complaining in the kitchen... When asked how long is the wait well.. my wife and I won't be at this location

Pretty good spot, Travelling through I got in right as they opened. The breakfast burrito was smothered...I would have preferred a hand held style but I made it work. Pretty hearty, I understand the need up here in ME but not something I would fire down everyday. The server was attentive and food came out quickly. I felt better than going to a denny's vs IHOP....I mean IHOB. The hot sauce was great, nice mix of heat and flavor. I chose this place because it was right next to my hotel but I would definitely stop in again.

Decent breakfast. Restaurant always seems to be cold and there was no music of any kind until 40 mins into my visit someone thought to turn it on. Food is great, seating is decent, staff is friendly. Not a huge fan of pay at the counter system, leaves an alaward conversation with wait staff after the meal. Overall not bad by any means but not my first choice.

The food was delicious. One of the best breakfasts we've had out in a while. If you're in the area stop in; you won't be disappointed.

We visited here on a road trip north to Acadia National Park. We wanted to avoid the usual chain restaurants and this place fitted the bill perfectly. Service was quick efficient and friendly. The pancakes here are HUGE! I was disappointed when the breakfast menu said it came with only 1 but when it arrived I understood why! Would definitely visit again.

I don’t usually leave reviews but thought this one pretty necessary. Ordered an omelette and the waitress walks it out to me with a medium length BLACK HAIR on the top! When I told Her about it, she angrily took the plate back while rolling her eyes without apologizing or saying a WORD. This restaurant does not check their food before running it out. It’s debatable if they even wear hair nets.
