Quality, super reasonable and great diner service. We stayed in Bar Harbor at the Chiltern Inn where Joan’s gourmet breakfasts can’t hold a candle to this place. We checked this place out the night before and knew it was the real deal when it opens at 4:30am. This breakfast blew away any we had in Bar Harbor. Thank god we found this place.

Visited Maine from Wisconsin and stopped here. Seafood choices were delicious. Had the crabmeat roll and the haddock sandwich—both were amazing. The french fries, however, were the worst I have ever had. Tasted like they were made the day before.

The staff clearly all hate each other. If they don’t, fooled me. I started ordering takeout instead of eating there because it’s always so tense. They’ve gone out of their way to not wait on us when we’ve gone in for our takeout..the last straw was when I called to order breakfast and the woman was extremely rude and clearly had better things to do than take my order. No food is worth the attitude.

Wow. This is the towniest greasy spoon I've ever visited, but not necessarily in a bad way. It took a while to have our order taken, but not that long to receive it. The food was good. We were the only people there who weren't either under 25 with three children or over 80 and close to death's door. Overall, not a bad place to stop on your way to Acadia.

A Perfect Diner ! I don't think many places deserve a 5 star rating, but I can't justify awarding Sylvia's anything less. The service is welcoming and efficient, and the menu selections are everything you'd expect from a diner. More importantly, "They pull it off". Tiring of my usual breakfast spot in Ellsworth, I looked online for diner options and reviews and decided to try Sylvia's. Not being a fan of strip mall dining, I've driven past Sylvia's for several years. MY MISTAKE !! Inside I found a very comfortable spot in which to have a leisurely, well-prepared breakfast. Also impressive, is the fact that Sylvia's doesn't try to be something that it's not--just straight-forward food is what's offered and what's provided. My Condiments to the Chief--Sylvia's has a new fan.

Arrived with no greeting after the morninper the photo.g rush. Seated self. The waitress did not introduce herself. Supplied multiple menus when it was only me. Waitress (Heather) was at least quite friendly. Ordered Haddock Chowder. Waited 4 minutes and then was told that they do not have any. Very disappointing. Heather suggested the Haddock sandwich. Did not want a sandwich. Haddock nuggets offered and ordered those. 8.5 minutes for them to come out, good response time. They were lightly fried and very good. Coleslaw was decent. Crisp with a small chop and not overly wet. Tartar sauce was nothing to write home about. Nuggets were good enough on their own. Abouy 7.5 dollars for 6 nuggets.

The line cooks always drinking they microwave brocoli who owns a restaurant and cant cook brocoli, my kids have woken me up with breakfast in bed that's better. Its dirty they dont wear head gear which is a health problem and against safe serve. and when they get done cutting up something they dont wash the knife, they use the same knife on something different also against safe serve regulations. Worst of it all it is a Maine buisness Mainers pride themselves on fresh pies and fresh blueberries yet Sylviss Blueberry Pie comes from a box. best bet, go to Marthas Dinner. Real Maine cooking there.

The place was busy but our waitress saw us take a table and another couple came in sat at a table in her section. Then a group of 5 came on and sat next to us. She waited on the couple got their coffee and took their order. I said they came in after us and not right behind us we've been waiting for 5 minutes before they came in. Another waitress brought us menus and wanted to know if we wanted coffee. I said no we want something else. She walked off. I wasn't impressed that she didnt take our drink order. I didnt know at that time that she wasn't our waitress. We waited the couple got their food! The waitress gave the other table of 5 their menus and took their drink orders. Once she filled them she graced us with her presence took our drink orders and I stated that we knew what we wanted so she took our order. The banana pancakes where only pancake mix with bananas sliced in them. Not what I expected as most places mash the bananas and add cinnamon to the mix they were bland. When she brought our food the first couple that came in after us got up and left. If she hadn't told us we could take any open table when we were waiting for them to clear off the tables u could say she didnt see us sit but that wasn't the case. The other waitress tried helping but it would have been nice if she had let us know she wasn't our waitress. My granddaughter says wow Grammy she was rude to you, I said yes hun but we all have bad days maybe her day has been terrible. Service was slow, food mediocre It will be awhile before I go back.

If you were ever in Ellsworth, and wanted to try local breakfast, you should definitely check this place out! It is located inside a small mall. When my family ate there, the other patrons seemed to know each other and servers. Obviously it is a close knitted community. Their food is delicious and aren’t pricey at all. Besides, servers are pretty friendly.

Located in the Mill Mall, just west of Ellsworth, Sylvia's Cafe offers a breakfast and lunch menu. Open Sunday 6am -2pm, Mon-Sat 4:30am. Basic menu offers a lot of breakfast items and sandwich items for lunch, with a few entrees as well. Offers daily specials also. Friendly service, but can be a little busy during certain hours.

Fair, good service and pleasant with good pancakes and bacon. Eggs and omlete were flat. Homefries were fair. Atmosphere was in a strip mall with sparse decor. A few hours after eating, GI upset and headache. Check reviews, cleanliness seems to be an issue. Would prefer a separate establishment with better atmosphere and better food.

No washing of hands can even happen as there is no sink in grill ears. Also no cloves are worn when preparing food as well as no hats on the cooking staff. Food was yummy though. And most of the staff was friendly.

The food was great and priced great as well. Unfortunately we had what I would call a sub par server. Never offered to fill up coffees, or offer us any water so we had nothing to drink with our food until I asked. I don't think this is a reflection on Sylvia's though as all the other servers seemed to be on top of their game. Just bad luck on our part. Definitely worth a shot.

Everything a diner should be. Server was friendly and prompt. FYI it's a seat yourself place. Turkey club was awesome with fresh, made in house daily turkey breast. Fries are OK, not crispy how I prefer but that's just me. Quick and cheap stop with good food.

I've been in Maine now for over 2 years and been going to Ellsworth often and just found this place. I read some reviews and we went this morning. I had good service. I got the biscuits and gravy with 2 scrambled eggs on the side with cheese. My food was very good. The quality is much better than Governor's or Denny's. The potion was generous. I couldn't eat it all but I wanted to! I had to make her take the plate away!

Good, but nothing to write home about. Came here for breakfast after a day of camping near Acadia. The food was hot and tasty, and the restaurant was crowded yet comfy, but it wasn't much more than what you'd find at another small town diner. That said, I'd go back for another breakfast.

Sylvia's Cafe in Ellsworth is a friendly place with fast service and good food. My kids and I love to eat here and it is one of our favorite places to eat. At Sylvia's you will find quality food served to you in generous portions at the absolute best price. They may not be fancy, or apt to put un necessary garnish onto the plates they serve. However they do keep it about the food and those who enjoy it. If you enjoy your meal and the service then please tell a friend or a family member to come try us as well. I know I will.
