Great place food was very good and fair prices I like the idea of no waiter or waitress u take care of ur own mess it was a bit of a drive but worth it definitely one of Maine's hidden jems for food there pork was amazing steak and cheese as well cornbread has a hint of cake to it as a local guide if I had to find a bad part mac and cheese wasn't as tasteful as id like and parking was limited but it is winter

We love the homey atmosphere, the friendly staff, the food is excellent, best in the Moosehead Lake region. So stop by have a cocktail and a delicious meal...oh, and don't forget dessert!

If you want a 'real' Maine experience but are craving bbq, then this is the place for you. When you walk up to the cute rustic building, your senses will be assaulted by the smells wafting from the huge outdoor smokers. Your place your order after perusing the chalkboard with the 'barkeep' then the cook yells your name out when your order is ready. We stopped by for lunch and were offered a full bar menu along with bottled water, juices, sodas, etc. I opted for a ginger beer while awaiting my meal. My pulled pork sandwich was DE-licious. I have eaten a fair amount of barbeque in my time, but the smoky flavor in this sandwich came through amazingly well - better than your run-of-the-mill barbeque. I opted for a side of macaroni and cheese, enthusiastically approved by the barkeep!, and it was a great choice. Subtly seasoned, it was a fairly large portion that could have be split. I highly recommend Spring Creek Bar-B-Q if you're in the area.

Great brewed root beer! The kids loved the mac& cheese. Burgers were decent and huge. Chicken sandwich was tastey but a little messy. Pulled pork was good as were the sides. Over all good dining experience.

Ok top ten meals of the year. This is not a drill. Here is my recommendation. Remember you are at a BBQ restaurant and if you think "maybe I will get the rice and beans instead of heavy smoked meat before going xc skiing" RETHINK and don't worry I did not make this mistake but I nearly did. The corn bread is *from heaven* the pulled pork is *perfection* the sides are a *must order.* My friend in the car right now who is from West Virginia says well y'all don't really know BBQ but she says 4.2 so graded on a curve that is five stars.

Stopped here on out way back from Moosehead Lake. Best burger and BBQ beef sandwich, smoked right on site. Sat outside in the patio area will our dog! Overall great food and great experience, we are definitely coming back!

Kim and Mike do a fabulous job with all sorts of down-home cooking, from fiddlehead salad to mouthwatering 1.5" thick pork chops smoked and cooked to perfection. A great atmosphere and a great time.

The food was great and the place was clean and well decorated, however there were signs that sort of rudely lay out the rules of the establishment that greet you as you walk in, setting a negative tone. To follow it up, the staff was not friendly and made us feel like we were inconveniencing them.

First time there today, food was great, but it certainly wasn't a "warm environment". Felt like I was an inconvenience more than anything. I don't think the staff smiled once. $38 and some change to feed two adults and a small child. Restroom was clean. All in all, it was a good experience.

The food is good. I had an awesome salad on one visit and fantastic corn on the cob on my second visit. I give it only a 3 for two reasons. First, they dont use real flatware. The plastic forks and knives are really too flimsy for the job. I prefer a fork that doesn't bend when you're using it. Second, there's a very specific protocol for ordering and they're not particularly forgiving if you don't know what to do (like where to stand in line -- and you must stand single file, for example). If you ask, they tell you to read the signs. On your first visit, all the instructions and the menu which changes daily and is written on a chalkboard can be overwhelming. It would be nice to be able to ask a question without feeling like you're in the soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld.

Been to this restaurant three times but no more for me. Haven't actually had a meal here because twice they have been out of food and today arrived at 2pm and they closed the kitchen for an hour. Very strange as the they were supposed to be open from 11 to 8. Perhaps they don't have enough help. Maine has a really bad labor shortage so I guess it was lunch time for the kitchen staff at 2pm.

The owners Mike and Kim are really cool people they prepare all the food fresh daily. Mike's state-of-the-art smoker and cookers produce the tastiest ribs and meats you could imagine. The bar staff I super accommodating and very pleasant. The atmosphere is the friendliest around. Stop in have a great meal and make new friends.

The food is amazing! Created with love. There is a bar. Very cozy. The food has been featured in several magazines as the best BBQ. It is self-service. Order at the bar, pick up when called and clean up after yourself but that is part of the charm.

My son and I came in one night, about 15 minutes before closing (I know, I know, but we were hungry and desperate.) We headed to the counter thinking that we could maybe get some takeout, but they quickly assured us it would be no problem at all for us to eat in. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches (nicely overflowing with pork) and a giant wedge of cornbread. Service was quick and friendly, and the food really hit the spot for a couple of hungry hikers.

We live in TX in the winter & love BBQ & have been to many excellent BBQ restaurants in that region. You don't expect to find a restaurant like that in Maine so we wanted to write a review to let people know this is not only the real deal but excellent as well. My husband says the beef ribs were the best he's ever eaten. High praise from a man who is picky about BBQ. The pork ribs are so popular you have to get there early or they're all gone & the baked beans are delicious with a Maine twist, the addition of maple syrup. On top of this the staff is friendly & they have good pie. What more could you ask for?

Visited at 5:45pm on July 6. Peak tourist season. The line to order was long and SLOW. Then we waited for THIRTY FIVE MINUTES for two burgers and two salads. Really?? Since the pass-through window was right in plain sight, I was able to see that the cook literally was cooking only one order of burgers at a time- no exaggeration- I watched as he removed the ONE burger from his grill (a grill on which easily 10+ burgers could be cooked at a time), and THEN he put our two burgers on! No kidding. At that point, we'd already been waiting for 25 minutes. So, 10 minutes later, when the other kitchen person finally called my name, I went to retrieve the order. She had Italian dressing and we'd asked for ranch. Shouldn't have been a big deal, right? Her poor attitude absolutely radiated from that pass-through window. Really?? This was not an isolated incident. People sitting next to us were complaining about the wait time too. Folks, there's a reason that they have you pay as soon as you order- we definitely would have walked out if we'd not already paid. My opinion? At Spring Creek you will receive so-so, overpriced food, rotten attitudes and sticky tables. Eternal wait times- both in line to order and after to get your food. At peak season? They can only rest on their laurels for so long. Please, do yourself a favor and go a few doors down to the Lakeshore House.

This is the best barbeque in the state. I've been going here since they moved in to town and you can't go wrong. I usually get the pulled pork sandwich but everything is great. Crowds are welcome. Quick service and great conversation. Enjoy Monson!

A wonderful small town meeting and eating place. It's what is going on in Monsoon. Big menu. Good size servings. Bean and ham soup was delightful. Beef shortrib fell off the bones. Relaxed, friendly, real place to eat great food. Large beer selection. Awesome ginger beer.

Place is very friendly and mostly look's like a local club. You might not be predicted about "Today Menus". Just eat that cocked or left today. The ribs is good. Dry but tasty. The sausage is better and souses are the best. I wouldn't drive here from the shore but if you around - definitely should check it out.

One of my favorite Barbecue places of all time. It's seat, serve, and clean up after yourselves. The food is superb and you have choices between sitting at the bar, sitting at a table inside, or sitting outside in their yard. I recommend you get the Lemonade and the barbecue pork with whatever sides they have available.

First visit to the new (much bigger) place and I have to say it's even better than before! As always, excellent BBQ... The pork is simply to die for and the chili was just right. Only wish I could eat more to enjoy everything they have to offer. Nice beer and drink selection and the pale ale on tap is great!

I've had BBQ all over the place. I've had good, decent and questionable. This place is bar none, the absolute best in this state, if not a top contender for the whole east coast. Between the quality of food, hospitality, prices and just general fun...I can't recommend it enough. It's worth a trip from wherever you are to see what they are cooking up. One of my absolutely top 5 places to eat, and I've been to hundreds.
