Excellent brisket, smoked mussels were very good, smoked lobster didn't seem any different than regular steamed.
Great sea food and barbeque! What more can you ask for
Great food. Lobster was cooked perfect. Baked beans were excellent.
Great food! My husband had the ribs...delicious, tender. I had the pull pork sandwich with bbq sauce & Cole slaw it was so good. Great place to eat with good prices
Absolutely delicious the place is small and old but for me that's half of the charm the food was on point had to stop in several times while there for the week on vacation
This dive is located on Route 3 across from Bar Harbor airport. You will not be disappointed. Excellent smoked brisket and Ribs. They also serve seafood. Oh yes definitely lobstah! Say it the Maine way, it taste better. Great side dishes. The price point and quality is a 10. Very small establishment. Cool place. Enjoy
Nice little place. I love the seafood bbq combos, and the pie is incredible!
After wrapping up the Ship Harbor trail the wife and daughters were really hungry for seafood for our last night on our Maine road trip. It was about 7:00pm and most seafood shacks we knew of were closing at 7:30. Then we found Smokies, open till 9. That was a great find. We got a local brewed beer, bar food onion clusters (rings), clam chowder, fried shrimp, a Connecticut lobster roll (shhhh!), and smoked lobster. The smoked lobster was pretty good but only the tail is smoked with spices, the shrimp was fried well with a thin batter which is better, and the hot lobster roll was really good and my daughter loved it. As sides the Cole slaw was good and the bbq beans were fantastic. The waitress was very nice and the food came out real fast. The place looks like a real dive and well it is....but the food is fantastic and it is clean. If you're in the area you should really try this place.
This place is really amazing! The servings are huge. I ordered a Fish and Chips, and the fish size was huge! Really loved it.
Smokey’s is a must if you’re in the area! It’s a great atmosphere to spend time with friends or family and the food is amazing. Best brisket I’ve ever had- hands down. Lobster roll is also excellent. Food comes quick even when it’s busy and the service is very friendly. Don’t miss out!
Paid $20 for lobster platter and loved every bite. Kids loved their meals for $4 too! I would definitely go back, but only if it's warm enough to eat outside at the picnic tables.
So delicious! We had French fries, which were crispy and fresh. My partner had the brisket with baked beans...those beans are unique, you must try them!
We visited for lunch in our way to Acadia Park. I had a brisket sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. I grew up in Texas and I'm pleased to report that the brisket here is the real deal - succulent, tender and smoky. The decor is very casual and all the better for being so unpretentious. I would not hesitate to return if I come this way again.
We saw the sign while driving back from Acadia National Park and we gave it a shot - perfect choice! Very casual and the food is incredible. Arguably better than Rendezvous in Memphis!
Good menu and good service for a great time
I love this bbq spot. A quick drive from bar harbor. I like having more choice in how my lobster is prepared. Its nice having it some way other then boiled. The ribs were delicious, I could put that bbq sauce on anything.
It was my first time eating a lobster that wasnt cold ! It was so good ! Didnt enjoy the coleslaw but beans were amazing !
Delicious and very fresh food served promptly.
One of the best lobster roll
We came when the place near to closing time. We were served wonderfully, quick and the foods were the best.
All I can say is wow had the brisket sandwich and it was amazing. Great server nice atmosphere.clean and inviting. And the meal was the best I've had ever. Award winning is right. Definitely will go again and you should go.
Excellent barbecue ! Texan brisket was great!
Phenomenal authentic BBQ. As good as any southern BBQ. Indoor outdoor dining and family friendly. Games for the kids, local brews for the parents. Love it!
Delicious, 2lb lobster, lobster roll. We also had clam chowder & pulled pork loaded fries! Highly recommend.
Cold clam chowder soup, tuff french fries, small lobster sandwich for $18.00 not impressive, tasted bland and was very chewy, fish was good.
My wife and I were eagerly searching for a place to eat, and we happened upon this delightful place. We were instantly greeted by a man outside cooking, and welcomed just as warmly by the young lady inside. The place is cozy on the inside, and charming. The ribs were excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my lobster roll. The unexpected gem was the corn on the cob that was so plump and juicy it literally shot jets across the table. I wish I had room to try the Unhealthy Marriage sandwich, as it has the most whimsical description of any BBQ dish I've encountered! Took home some blueberry pie, and I can't wait to try.
Stopped here on the way home from bar harbor. Had the great escape; lobster, mussels, steamers, clam chowder. Ending with blueberry pie. Probably the best meal we had on the whole trip.
Second year in business. Great clams! Young kids starting out, give them chance. 4 stars because they need to update some of their tables. Other than that, this should be a must stop for all the roadside lobster shacks.
The best BBQ around. Fantastic flavor and priced right. Very friendly staff and fast service. Try them once and you'll be hooked.
My first dinner when visiting Maine. The lobster storm dish is well-priced and delicious. The steamers and mussels are also fresh.
A little warm inside, but worth it. Some of the best brisket I've ever had. Service was good too.
Great food, great choice, great beer, great service!
Absolutely recommend Smokey's! So delicious! The Rodeo combo has so much food for a great price!
Their cole slaw was overwhelmingly heavy in vinegar, their baked beans were inediblely over spiced and hot to the taste, and the onion side dish and French fries were soaked in grease. All in all, not worth the cost of the meal.
There is no better place to fill up after a long day of hiking in Acadia. The pulled pork and brisket are some of the best I've ever had. I will be back to try the lobster for sure!
Best darn BBQ I've had in a long time this far North.. Walked through the door as I looked around the tables, folks plates were empty and bones cleaned.. lobsters eaten down to the shell. All a good sign, and they didn't disappoint. Will definitely be back before my trip is done.
Their food was fanatical and staff very friendly. Loved the award winning baked beans!!
Great food and the service was amazing. The service was so great my 14yr old made me finish his sandwich because he didn't want anyone thinking he didn't like it.
The best blueberry pie U have ever had.
Ok... you know those places you see on TV? They are being explored by celebrities looking for something amazing? This is one of those places. We were spontaneously in Arcadia national park all day, and staving. Found this place by mistake (literally, driving by and a hard left into the parking lot). The food was amazing, loved the atmosphere, and the staff was so kind. We WILL come back here.
Great atmosphere. Outstanding service. And amazing food. The clam chowder is stellar. Highly recommend.
Fresh and tender pulled pork and proper atmosphere for real barbecue. As you walk in you can watch the lobsters being steamed and smell the wood smoke. Awesome!
This place is brilliant. It doesn't look much from the outside but the service and the food are absolutely top notch. We had a lobster roll and a half rack of ribs with baked beans and coleslaw. It was all delicious. The lobster in the roll was succulent, full of flavour and had just the right amount of sauce, and the brioche bun complimented it superbly. The half rack of ribs was chunky and full of meat which was juicy and tender. The baked beans were tangy and sweet, and the coleslaw was interesting, unlike anything I've had before (it even had pineapple in). We also had some blueberry pie with ice cream, which was ok but not the highlight by far, maybe just because it was past peak blueberry season when we visited. Only complaints I would have are that there were a few flies buzzing round which was a bit annoying, and the seats lacked support. Think it would be worth investing just a bit in improving the appearance of the joint, but still more than worth a visit, I'm sad that I'll likely never be able to go back, or at least not for a long time.
This place was recommended by a local as a place for lobster and something for those in my family that don't care for seafood. We started with pulled pork fries and tried a blueberry soda, both were surprisingly good. Although I came here for a lobster roll (and it was very good), I will be coming back for the pulled pork. I've had it at hundreds of places and this place ranks among the best. The house BBQ sauce is excellent with it. Oooh and the coleslaw was fantastic! We finished with a shared piece of blueberry pie which was as good as advertised! All said and done we spent $65+tip for 4 very satisfied family members.
Good lobster roll, steamers done to perfection. Brisket was awesome as well. Service was spot on and friendly. Simple, easy, delicious.
Almost didn't stop... a real dive. I got brisket sandwich and it was amazing. Sooo tender and flavorful. Bread was fresh and yummy. Husband got lobster roll and says it was sweet and yummy. Don't miss the blueberry pie. It's homemade
Fat and tasty
Every thing about this place was GREAT!
Great grilled lobster.
I had Lobster. Best Baked Beans ever- lots of smoky flavor and chunks of meat. Really good potato salad too. Family enjoyed their ribs and brisket. I will go again if I am ever in the area.
Started with the smoked Mussels, WOW! Had 3 lobster dinners while in Maine. This was by far the best, and the best value. My son had the BBQ sandwich, it was huge and competes with some of the best Southern BBQ we have had. Save room for the Bluberry Pie, it is a must have as well.
Delicious brisket, grilled lobster and steamed lobster. Sides were also yummy including baked beans, fries and onion clusters. Service was friendly and all was excellent.
Grilled lobster=not good. It tasted like it was cooked on a charcoal grill that wasn't ready yet. Lobster with a side of kerosene flavor, no thanks. Fries were fine, potato salad a little bland but ok as well. Friendly staff, clean, well-priced. By their ratings I'm going to guess their BBQ is better than their seafood.
Had the Brisket and it was great. Simple establishment but the food is great, I came hear in 2018 and now in 2019, great both times.
Such an awesome experience! We had some non seafood eaters so we thought this would be the perfect place. Everyone was very satisfied. Some of the best BBQ that we all have ever tasted!! The blueberry pie was also delicious. Our server was very atentative and so nice. It is a must try!
Smokey's BBQ and Lobster Pound is the bbq and lobster pound of my dreams, and my heart. The brisket and the ribs are both especially good. Thanks Smokey's
Neat place. I've had mostly the lobster, clams, mussels and can't get away from them to order their brisket! But I eat a'plenty 'cause she can't finish her brisket basket. The paying man's way to surf & turf mistha! The staff cracks me up and are onto.
Delicious! Our server was friendly and quick. The place is a bit run down but hey it's a roadside BBQ shack.
Loved this place! Wanted scallops not fried and they seared them for me to perfection. Delicious! The coleslaw was fantastic. Cold draft beers too. Will go back soon to try the bbq meats! Go!
Fast service, ok food. Did not stand out from the other lobster ponds that we went to. Got "smoked" lobster but still not sure I got what asked for, even after I confirmed with a waitress... Did not taste or smell the "smoke"
This meal was just what I wanted after a day of hiking in Acadia! I got the brisket sandwich with fries and a slice of blueberry pie for dessert, all of which were delicious. The restaurant also has quick and friendly service, plus a good list of beers from local breweries. Would highly reccommend to a friend, and will be back!
So yummy!!!! Lobster is good and so are the ribs and sausage!
Great smoked mussels. Lobsters pretty much any way you want them. Mine was steamed, then smoked...excellent taste! An unassuming place but they have their BBQ competition trophies to prove they can take on any comers. Give them a try...you won't regret it.
Best Brisket in town!
We were pleasantly surprised by this place. I got lobster and brisket and both were excellent. Corn on the cob was fresh and flavorful, bbq beans were delicious. Staff was very friendly. I definitely look forward to coming back.
Great brisket. Super smokey sweet beans! Delicious pulled pork. The buns for the sandwiches are toasted and buttered. Service was friendly and fast and the deck was great in the sunshine. Traffic noise but who cares?! As a Kansas City girl, I am critical of bbq east of the Mississippi, but this place is definitely worth the stop! Didn't try the seafood fare but other folks were enjoying it.
Lobster had no flavor! Bought 2 lobster tails and the lobster had no flavor. I couldn't cut it with the plastic knife I was given. French fries were cold, I wouldn't recommend this Restaurant. Tasted some of my husbands bbq ribs and they were alright
If you’re craving BBQ this is the place to go! My husband and I both got the pulled pork plate and loved every bite. They also serve huge portions! We will definitely be back here the next time we come to Bar Harbor.
I never expected to find BBQ this authentic so far up north. I've traveled to all of the hot spots around the country, sampling their bbq wares, and wasn't sure what to expect at this place. But they managed to knock it out of the park. The sauce was amazing. I didn't get a chance to try the lobster, but I finished the meal off with some delectable pie. Great service, great atmosphere, great restaurant. I'll certainly be back soon.
Ordered takeout, but really impressed by the quality and volume of food. Will repeat.
Great food, nice area. We had to wait forever for someone to take our order but once we ordered we got our food really fast.
Love this place! Very casual, friendly and incredible food. I had the lobster roll and my daughter had pulled pork. Both were excellent! I think it was the owner who waited on us and he was very personable and attentive. Just a neat place.
Excellent ribs, pork and sides! The crew is happy, friendly efficient and their food is outstanding. Will definitely return with more friends!!
Smokey's is my new favorite place to eat in Maine! Enjoyed a delicious, hearty dinner of smoked lobster tail and BBQ ribs with corn on the cob and their out of this world baked beans that has pieces of sausage and pork! Our waiter was friendly, attentive and offered good suggestions. The only thing that could've made it any better was the warm blueberry pie and ice cream that ended that great meal! Can't wait to go back!
What a super little spot on the way to or from Mount Desert Island. Lobster rolls were great . They had great local craft beer on tap and excellent tunes playing. Just like they say on the sign. We will definitely stop in again our next time through to Acadia National Park.
Seafood and BBQ. Best lobster roll we had on this trip. The ribs rocked!
As a Southerner, I'd say the food is delicious! (The service is so-so
Worth every penny!
Lightning fast service. Great barbeque, lobster dishes, and warm blueberry pie. Overall a fantastic choice for a nice hearty meal.
Food was good as well as the service, but the place was small and beat down.
Lots of meat on lobster roll. Best in a mile.
The brisket was tender, and the white ale was superb. Good kid menu items makes this a great family spot.
Everything about this restaurant is positive. The food was delicious. We sampled many things: grilled and smoked lobster, fried clams, smoked mussels, ribs, and brisket. Every single dish was delicious. Prices were extremely reasonable for the high quality meal and generous portions. The service was all outstanding with friendly, attentive servers. We're only in town for a week, but we're already talking about going back.
Very small place. But food was delicious. No complaints. Just remember limited inside seating . Outside might be a little rough but the food is where it's at.
Amazing BBQ. The Lobster was good too. But the BBQ was some of the best i've had.
Very friendly staff, very big amounts of food, but ribs are a bit dry.
Priced right, good food (bbq)
No frills place with great seafood and brisket at reasonable prices. I highly recommend the baked beans and the blueberry pie for dessert!
Great lobster, fried clams, brisket. This place is relatively new and is off to a great start.
Felt like home! Great staff, and the lobster rolls were the best we had while in Maine. Loved the Connecticut roll the most!
this place is really fun to hang out at and spend time with family and friends. it is a really inviting place with nice employees and absolutely delicious food. their lobster is honestly probably the best out there as far as i’ve eaten. although is often cold there because of wind, i would eat there a lot more if i was closer to it!
Split a lobster roll and an unhealthy marriage (brisket topped with sausage, in a bun). Both items were delicious
We split a lobster roll, half rack of ribs, and sides of fries, onion rings, potato salad, baked beans and corn on the cob. I thought the fries were just ok but everything else was DELICIOUS! And the service was friendly and fast. They even have cornhole for while you're waiting for the food. Definitely coming back.
Some of the best BBQ I have ever had!
Went in on a whim since they said “sorry, we’re open“ and I love a place that pokes fun at itself. Needed a place that has lobster and something for my wife who doesn’t like lobster at all. Wife had the pulled pork and loved it. I had the twin lobster dinner with the best baked beans I’ve had in a long time. If you need fancy surroundings this may not be for you but we loved the unpretentious atmosphere and great food!
Good food and prices, has indoor and outdoor seating.
Outstanding Clam chowder good BBQ
Pulled pork and ribs were excellent.
My wife and I drove by and saw the sign that said 'sorry we're open' and thought that since they were jokesters that they would be good cooks too and found that they were great cooks. We split the dish, 'perfect storm' and found that there was a lot for its price; lobster, mussels, clams, clam chowder, two sides, and a blueberry pie with ice cream on it. It was so much that we had to take the sides home. The food came out at a reasonable time to show that care was taken in making the food and that it was fresh but to also show that we weren't forgotten. Waiter was great. Best lobster we've had in Maine so far. We highly recommend this place and we will be visiting again before we leave the area.
Everything is tasty, great bbq..
Delicious food and good service! Seafood was perfect as was the pulled pork. Yummy sides, and the onion clusters are awesome! Also the best blueberry pie I've ever had!
We found this place on our way to the town. Although the service was a little slow, the food was simply amazing. It was our first time to taste the steamed whole- belly clams. We instantly fell in love with it. We returned to dine in the restaurant on the following two days and enjoyed the clams, steamed or fried, every time. We also got the lobsters, ribs, and brisket. All were super delicious.
Awesome food and great service, doesn’t look like much from the road but once you get inside it’s much more. First time having lobster was here and it was fantastic. Definitely worth the stop.
This is the place to go anytime you are up in Maine! Service is great, portions are perfect, and BBQ Is top. Near or around Acadia.
Best Smoked mussels and best baked beans ever eaten anywhere. Service friendly and prompt. Going back again.
Great food! The brisket was amazing. Overall great place to eat with good prices.
The food was delicious but the service could have been better. They were very busy when I was there so I can understand them getting a little jammed up. Because the food was very delicious I give 5 stars anyway
Absolutely the best food and service in town! Lobster cooked perfectly, pulled pork and ribs sooooo tender and delicious!! They were super busy and easy to see why! What I loved most was, as busy as they were on a daily basis, when we returned two nights later our waiter remembered us and was happy to see us. Would highly recommend!
Great food at a reasonable price. Nice staff.
We stayed down the road and could not recommend Smokey's enough!! The smoked mussels and grilled lobster was a great twist on normal Maine fare! As visiting Midwesterners, the server happily showed us how to properly deconstruct a whole Maine lobster. Would go back next time we are in town. One suggestion: Paper towel rolls instead of those wimpy napkins!
Everything we ate was delicious. The lobster was perfect, and the lightly flavored butter that came with the smoked lobster was great too. I was happy to see the restaurant was generous enough to serve up a whole corn on the cob, and it was quite fresh. The onion clusters were seriously awesome - I wish more restaurants served up onion rings this way! The thinner breading really let the onion shine through and the clumpiness of them made it strangely satisfying to eat. So good. I had a bite of my companion's bbq beans, and the bits of meat in there were melt-in-your-mouth kinda good. I think I'll have to get them for myself next time. My companion was happy with his ribs as well. But yes, everything we had was delicious. The no-frills building, friendly service, and delicious meal really made us feel at home. My singular complaint is that it was a bit warm in there! I'm not sure I'd want to go to this restaurant on a blazing-hot day, but I suppose there aren't too many of those in Maine. They have outdoor seating as well, so maybe we should have sat outside! We'll be back for sure.
Funky eclectic roadside lobster/BBQ joint that serves great food. On the way into Acadia National Park there are many lobster pounds, basically a shack with outdoor seating. Smokey's adds barbecue to the mix, and also has seating indoors and a bathroom. Portions and food quality are better than that other BBQ/Lobster place up the road.
Little on the pricey side but food was delicious
They ran out of their clam chowder soup that came with their “Perfect Storm” platter, which I was really looking for. But instead of coming to me and asking if I still wanted that platter without the soup, they brought me a soup-less platter with extra clams to accommodate for the missing soup. And I was really looking forward to the soup so that just killed my appetite. I would’ve ordered something else if I’ve known.
Great seafood and bbq, as well as the greatest blueberry pie ever!
This little place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't be fooled. The quality of the BBQ is unbelievable. If you are looking for BBQ look no further. Top self food and service. A must go.
So delicious! Defiantly reccomend.
This was our best meal on our trip to maine! The lobster roll was great, but the real star was their smoked meats. Brisket and homemade sausage, and baked beans that were made up of more meat than beans.
Nice bbq place! We got the perfect storm, the smoked mussels, several lobster rolls and a whole ribs. Everything was tasty! The seafood wasn’t the top-notched type of fresh, but was good enough. The flavored they added, like the smoked one, made things better. The storm really got large portions! Ideal for the seafood lovers. The blueberry pie that came with it was also yummy, wasn’t too sweet and was full of blueberries. The lobster rolls were bomb! Delicious and well-seasoned. Thought the bread was a little dry. Service was a little slow, and it wasn’t too pleasing during a cold day. But overall it’s a good dining experience.
A great place to enjoy a lobster. I just got one steamed and one grilled one. Amazing. You have to taste the frieses and onion rings too. It's a young team who managed Smokey's and they doing their best. In the terrass and in the garden are two beautiful spots to sit down and have a great dinner.
Amazing food, terrific service, great atmosphere. We ordered five meals, four of them were seafood including two lobsters. My only criticism was that my haddock was a bit overcooked, besides that, the meals were exceptional. I'd recommend the clams, ribs, and those tremendous onion clusters.
Great food and service
The BBQ is LEGIT. Brisket is tender and juicy. Ribs done perfect. The onion clusters are like onion rings, only better. Good service, decent prices and portions. Don't pass it up.
Delicious lobster roll. Casual, affordable , delicious. We went 2 years ago on our way out of Acadia when they were just getting their feet on the ground and it was delicious. Can’t wait to come back this year !!!
Great food. A little bit of a drive from Bar Harbor but worth it. We had the lobster and ribs. Both we're delicious.
Don’t let the outside fool you. Well, the inside isn’t much better. But... They can cook. And the staff is great. Steamed, grilled or smoked lobster. And they can bbq meats well too. Try the baked beans.
Great BBQ and seafood. I would recommend before and leaving Bar Harbor or Acadia.
A great mix of BBQ and seafood at decent prices with fair portions. Setting is rustic but charming and option yo sit indoors or out is nice. Will go again, and soon!
This place was great! Okay guys, let me just tell you that your waitress rocks. She can work those tables like a magic show. She has a system and it works. ( sorry i don't know her name) but we were impressed. Now, the food...let me say these words without my mouth watering...SMOKED LOBSTER! I know, I died and gone to heaven. The only issue I had was eating those steamers...SMOKED sounded good, right? but, i didn't know what that long black tail, and small glass of broth that came with the bowl of steamers was for. I didn't eat them! (I know) I wasted all of them, to embarrased to say I didn't know. When arriving home from my trip, sharing my photos of smokye's with my brother, he was in disbelief that I didn't know how to eat steamers. So, he kindly explains. This is for anyone that doesn't know....here you go. Use your fingers to pull off the skin covering the siphon of the clam. Discard with the shells into the shell bowl. Grip the siphon with your fingers, swirl the clam around in the hot broth (it will help to warm up the clams and to dislodge any remaining grit or sand). Dip the clam into melted butter and eat! OMG wish I knew. I have to go back and try again. Its only an hour flight...maybe mid summer I'm will try again.
We had the perfect storm (seafood, clam chowder and pie) and also got two combos (ribs and brisket). The lobster was fishy tasting... but the BBQ and blueberry pie was delicious!
We're from out of the state & stopped here for a bite. Great food, great service. You get your money's worth here. Very helpful when people had no idea how to crack a lobster.
Proper barbecue. Best brisket I’ve had in a long time. Good service.
Fantastic! Awesome baked beans, brisket, and a lobster. What more do you need in life?
The pulled pork and brisket was outstanding! The prices are reasonable too.
Good food. Lots of options. Smoked mussels and ribs were especially delicious. Lots of outdoor seating, both in sunny spots and shaded. Staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable. There is Cornhole.
The food was excellent, best lobster we have had on this trip. The waiter was busy, but pleasant. Small place, but a great find.
Excellent food at great prices. Friendly service to boot! I'll be returning!
The food and service was absolutely phenomenal! The wet ribs were definitely something to write home about. For a northeast smokehouse, it could compete with the best in the south!
