REVIEWS OF Salvage BBQ IN Maine

Caitlin Sweet

Good food and an awesome trivia night every Wednesday!

Mike Abell

First time i had been there was last night. Looked like a decent spot. Smelled good. I got the brisket and sausAge. The brisket was about room temp which kinda sketched me out while i was eating in, and sure enough at 2 am this morning i was up puking my guts out from food poisoning. Def think im all set goin back to try again.

John Riley

Really good bbq and a nice beer selection.

Janet Kippax

Salvage BBQ was highly recommend by both of my eldest sons. On this visit, we were only doing sandwiches for lunch. My husband and friend got the loose BBQ pork sandwiches. I got the Reuben sandwich. They LOVED their sandwich!! The meat on my sandwich was FABULOUS too but FOR ME, there were too many unique flavors going on my Reuben sandwich. The homemade lemonade was great too. They had some wonderful silent auction items for sale while we were there. If you are a New England sports fan and love BBQ too, I highly recommend you visit Salvage BBQ in Portland.

Ryan Barr

Great bbq! The brisket is a must try and the slaw is awesome. Mac and cheese is one of our favorites (parents and kids). The ribs on this particular visit were much too dry and charred a bit to much for our liking.

Karol Olszynski

Large seating area with great live music. Food is delicious.

Joe Distefano

Always great food and great staff!!

logan bryan

Great food and nice atmosphere!

Charles Berry

Was ok. Isnt what it was hyped up to be. St louis style ribs. Lots of options. Affordable

Kate Sellers

Loved that it is a seperate from downtown so parking was easy to find, loved the atmosphere and laid back outdoor neighborhood bbq vibe, and the food was so delicious. My husband and I shared a platter with three different meats, pulled pork, beanless chili, and brisket (adding a sausage on the side wasn't too much more, either). Our favorite sauce was the hot pickle. Thanks Salvage BBQ!

James Cook

Great place for BBQ! Big open space with 50’s dinette tables towards the front. Long picnic tables towards the rear set up for more of a communal dinning experience. Order at the counter at the front, grab a local craft brew at the bar than find a table and your food arrives soon after! Beef brisket, corn bread muffins and a local brew are a must! A number of different sauces are available to try on your meal but be warned, those labeled hot are wicked hot! Staff is friendly and approachable. Always a good crowed with music playing. Parking behind the building on Gilman Street.

Liz Duncan

Amazing!! 10/10 would recommend. Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, date night and family friendly, reasonably priced, and an overall perfect dining experience Best bbq in Portland. Try all the bbq sauces!!

imagined impressions

Great open atmosphere and awesome food!

Steve B

Lots of reviews, so I'll get right to it: great beer select and best BBQ around. [mic drop] I know, tacky mic drop thing but I needed a good visual. Psst: Management- the music can get too loud sometimes.

Steve James

Absolutely superb. Best bbq i have had for a lonnng time.

Joe Boucher

Excellent food. A bit expensive for portion sizes but still love it

Deb P

Salvage is great! I love the food, the environment is kooky... You have to go and order up at a register near the entrance; it’s not exactly a “service” environment. Most of the side options have been pretty good, but I don’t like the greens. I was surprised to find out how yummy the mac and cheese is! Usually restaurant Mac and cheese is bland, but this one was delish! I wish they served more pickles!

Tahir Messam

I have to say I wasn't expecting much, as I just believe the northeast had no shot at BBQ but this was definitely worth the trip. If you're in the area you need to stop in and have a 1/4 lb of Brisket. The main event is always the brisket to any respectable BBQ joint and Salvage brings a good contender to the game. The pulled pork is so-so but the ribs are juicy under a nice char. The cornbread and slaw are usual fare for the course but the mac and cheese is underwhelming at best. My wife had the Hush puppies, which I steer clear of anywhere and said to was ok but she's had better, they were a lil crispy on the outside. Sadly you have to ask for white bread, which I thought was customary at any Que joint. I can highly recommend this place if you're in town.

Jake Pauley

Incredible BBQ spot with some of the best brisket I've ever had. Ribs are amazing too. There are plenty of sauces to choose from but I typically just choose the regular BBQ sauce and you can't go wrong. The bar has a great drink selection. My only gripe about this place is the way you have to order at a counter one at a time and your food comes out whenever it's ready, so your party is all eating at different times. Granted, it comes out super fast since it's already made.

James Brandon

I'm not 100% sold on the service, our food was just dropped on the table without a word... The sandwiches were terrific, though. Would eat again

Anthony Ambrose

Amazing BBQ, great beer selection and service is fast and friendly. Family friendly with live entertainment.

Mat White

Best BBQ in Maine!

Madison Miller

Nice atmosphere...not so good food.

Tyler L.

Great food and great atmosphere! Dont think twice about going here, you will not regret it! I do not post many reviews at all but the food here blew me away. Enjoy!

Matthew Logan

Perfect BBQ spot with reasonable prices and great food.

Matthew Wheeler

All the BBQ is awesome. Great local beer selection on tap. Brisket is phenomenal.

Kevin White

Nice place good bbq Laid back atmosphere.

David Johnson

I've been to a fair many BBQ joints and this is one of my favorites. The meat is just as good as most high quality BBQ places, but what really impressed me was the collard greens. They're on point! Brisket doesn't disappoint either.

Kim Macleod

Okay , Nice digs for sure.. although we decided to go out for some good bbq. And this place pops up in our list .. and of all days well let’s just say it was Hot

Bill Norcott

Great vibe. Staff very nice and attentive. Food was exceptional, great variety of craft beers and cocktails. It was highly recommended from other establishments we had visited earlier today in Kittery and York.

Yisroel Forta

Now that is some bad lousy bbq

Michael Ferrigno

Went last week with the family while on vacation, food was great as was the atmosphere, highly recommend if you like bbq, brisket was the best

Richele Grenier Chatto

Good food. Good service. Fun atmosphere.

Elizabeth Hughes

Meh, Hush puppies are spicy not sweet and the bbq is okay. Overall wont recommend.

Arch Stanton

Some darn good BBQ! Comfortable and large dining room with a classic industrial persona. A nice bar, tasty food, and friendly service. I just really like this place

Corey Brown

Excellent barbeque, the brisket is great, lots of space and a usually fantastic ever changing beer selection

Kim Hein

Fantastic every time I go!

Kali Malmquist

My husband and I are visiting from North Carolina. We weren't sure about trying BBQ in Maine, but it turned out to be fantastic! The brisket and mac and cheese was to die for. We had the "meat coma", and it was delicious. Thank you for bringing home to the Northeast!

Rebecka Mendoza

To expensive and food was so fatty and mac and cheese is not supposed to be that color. Even the kids wouldn't eat it. Smells great but not good on the palate.

J Dugas

Chilli screams more!

SaiDee Gaillard

Really good food, everything was at least partly improved with the house BBQ or vinegar sauce, if not another condiment. Beer selection was great.

renee poliquin

The atmosphere is great but the food is mediocre. Plus they dont have a good sweet to spicey sauce ratio, too much spicey.

Dawson Julia

Hard to find better bbq in Maine. This place has also got a huge beer selection. We need to clone this place!!!

Lucy Segal

Amazing BBQ, cool atmosphere, excellent selection of beers on tap and fun cocktails to try. Have the "meat fatality" for a family style taste of everything. Don't miss out on the dozen hot sauces and vinegars on the picnic tables. Arrive hungry!

Benjamin Martens

Had the pulled pork, really great.

Lee Demers

We got the half chicken, chopped pork, and kielbasa. While the kielbasa was good, it would be better mixed in something than by itself. Both the chicken and pork were fantastic as is. The mac and cheese and the chili both were fantastic. I recommend getting a big order of the hush puppies because they disappear quickly. Will definitely come again.

Jados Moreno

The northeast isn't known for bbq so it's nice that I can rely on salvage for my fix. Nice compact menu that is consistently executed

Katrina H

Great barbecue and unique setting. Service is great and bingo on Sunday nights is always a ton of fun with great prizes!

Angelo

Big place with awesome ambience and BBQ that is great. The draft beer list is long and the bartender is personable. Beef brisket was out of this world and the best meat here followed by the sausage and chili. The ribs are a mix depending on day (ate here three times). Hush puppies perfect.

Matthew Lee

Mmmmm meat and more meat how could you go wrong. Salvage BBQ definitely got it right. Great ribs, brisket, chicken and good sides. It's a super casual place with music on the weekends. It van be little confusing your first time there cause you order food at one counter and if you want drinks you order at another counter. Then they bring food to the table. But there and get meat!

Wes L

Tasty BBQ in a casual setting that includes picnic tables. This place is good for families. On the weekend they feature live bands sometimes and there's a lively dance crowd.

Kyra Neal

It was alright. Definitely not bad, but not great either. If you're from New England, it's pretty decent. The ribs and chicken are better than most others you'll find in the area. If you're from the South, don't bother -- you'll be disappointed.

Jeff Rudolph

Great bbq place, love the picnic tables environment. Awesome draft beer from local breweries. Food comes on a tray and you eat it family style. Super fun!

Ronald Fournier

My grandson's favorite BBQ restaurant and I can understand why. Ample high quality meat and veggies north of the Mason Dixon line. Parking is definitely limited which is part of the Portland, ME charm. Will definitely be back again but be aware, its charm is that it's very rustic.

Simon Tacvorian

Awesome barbeque. Good prices too. All the sides we're great and the beer list is lengthy, fully of local beers. There's parking out back too. Overall really good spot

Corinne Peck

Delicious and fun atmosphere

Curtis Ham

Always a treat---dine in or take out. Enjoy the choice of lean or fatty brisket (I prefer 1/2 & 1/2).

Jacob Conrad

Food is amazing!! Small menu and great service

Harry Callahan

Get the brisket! Good atmosphere! Fun spot!!

Domnic Sickles

So food smells great! Just won't pay the price they want for it. Walked in, looked at the process and walked out... The parking in the back lot is too tight and cramped. Don't even get me started on their "handicapped parking". The spots are not within 50 feet from the entrance. The spots are too small for a van and wheel chair to use. Too close together.

Panayoti Kokalis

The food sucked. The pulled pork was pulled chicken tasted just like chicken not pork. The ambience was ok, nothing crazy. Service could have been better off course just usual hey hello how's everything nothing more. Definitely wouldn't go back for BBQ nothing good.

Melissa Kay Erickson

Live music on Saturday evenings makes for a very fun time. Mac and cheese is very good. The chili is nice as well, spicy though.

Jeff White

Three stars for general atmosphere and good service. Ribs were dry and tough. Pulled bork was OK but lacked depth of flavor Not my style of BBQ but I'm not going to fault them on that. Nice place to hangout and drink but I'll take a pass on the food.

nicole Armstrong

Mhmmm SO stinkin good! I smelled it from down the road and let my nose lead me to where we were gonna eat

Courtney Ritchings

Great decor. Excellent pickles. The kids loved it. Very casual. Good BBQ, chili, fries, and ribs.

Kristen Bronson

Really great BBQ here. Love that you order and they bring it to your table (picnic tables and retro dining sets!) and if you want a beer/cocktail you can just head to the end of the bar and grab it. They had a giant screen playing the Bruins game and had a live band on Friday and it was within walking distance of our B&B. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Portland.

Kevin Zhang

Awesome BBQ spot in Portland. Had the brisket sandwich and a couple sides. Top notch

Alexander Kontoleon

Solid BBQ in Portland. Counter service style eats, a tasty selection of brisket, chicken, sausage, pork, ribs, and tasty sides. Decent sized bar with large beer menu. Casual and laid back. Good for groups/families.

Ceil T

Omg, try the brisket full fat and chopped pork!

Seth Kerlin

Meh it was alright Maine needs someone to show them how to do real bbq real low and real slow ribs should fall off the bone not be tough to even take a bite flavor was ok

Lisa Billy

Typical bbq fair. Have had much better. Trim the fat off your meat.

Carrie Ann Brown

Id give it a higher rating because we went there tonight, and had drinks instead of drinks and dinner. They were out of chicken period, and I dont eat pork, beef. Which was very disappointing since we walked by couple weeks ago and came back to try it out. Bartender was like blah, not really any personality. Id say you lost some business tonight having three choices on the menu down to 2.. Not good management I suppose. Oh well we ate elsewhere.

David Howatt

Great ribs. Great beer selection.

Caitlen Chapman

It's BBQ done right and it's ME so basically yum!

Becca Jones

Great food! Not too many veggie options though (but it's BBQ - what do you expect?). The drink options are good too. Sometimes they bartenders are a bit abrasive, which is why I removed a star.

PeskeKustoms

I called and got a to go Brisket sandwich, was there before the order was done I live two minutes away the service was great l, but the product was sub par, in the two minute drive home the bun on the bottom was soggy and sitting in an 1/8" of coleslaw fluid in the box... ruined the whole meal also the sandwich was not even close to hot.....go to Noble BBQ on 302 a whole lot better service and product.

Doug Lauver

Fantastic food, slightly confusing menu, also seems like a place parents take their kids to let them run around without any supervision.

Julie Desmond

Not a huge barbeque fan..but this place changed my tune!! Very good

Harleigh Clukey

Good food and beer choices. Great place for families, easy picnic table seating and little ones have more space to move around.

Trystan Snyder

Other bartenders could learn a ton from this place

Matthew Smith

Loved it. Great food. Great food?

Joshua Dylan Polcek

Very Good, would be better if they also offered a Dry Rub BBQ marinade, $$$$

Sarah Dee

Great ribs, excellent service, generous sides. So yummy!

Russ Barron

Shared the Meat Coma for lunch with a few co-workers. Everything was spot on, and we had great fun trying the (literally) dozens of sauces they had available. Not all were hits, but having the variety was a great addition. The ribs weren't our favorite, but the pulled pork, the brisket, and all the sides were incredibly good. Add in a chill atmosphere, a full bar with plenty of beers on tap (and a bubble hockey table) and you've got enemy #1 for anyone on a diet.

Lorena White

Went there for the first time on easter 2019. Great atmosphere food was really good. I would definitely go again. They also have bar if you want drinks.

Ryan Michaud

Decent food, good atmosphere. My ribs were over cooked but everything else was quite good.

Terry Clancy

Very good food. Great staff

Ken Ku

Great BBQ food in Portland. Definitely try the meat coma combination. The brisket is awesome. So many drink options! Already thinking about coming back to try more.

David Young

Food is great but ordering takeout is impossible. Need an online takeout system. Ordered Famous Dave's instead because I couldn't get past the stupid automated message.

Lloyd Aspinall

Yummy. Self serve. Best ribs in the area

labby Jane

Went on bingo night. The BBQ was very good. I'm from bama and know BBQ!

Anna Li

We went there on Wednesday dueing Trivia Night. Nicely decorated space but the BBQ was slighty cold. Coleslaw was creamy and mac and cheese was delish.

Lyle/Kelli Morris

Had takeout, great sauces great bbq

Robert Benn

Best bbq in Portland hands down.

Allen Bourassa

The service wasn't all that great and the food was over done and dry. I wasn't all that impressed like the first time I was there.

Calvin Smith

Delicious, period. And that sweet tea is pretty darn good

Travis Winden

I am a BBQ aficionado and have eaten BBQ from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Kansas City, the Carolinas, Texas and many places in between. This is some of the most righteous BBQ I've ever tasted. This Pit Master is a God and deserves many accolades. BBQ is somewhat of an individual taste (although the principles are fixed in concrete)., so here is my review of the meats I tried. The ribs could have been left in the pit a little longer for that fall off the bone that I look for, but the taste and smoke ring was ON POINT! The brisket was as good as any I've ever tasted anywhere, mouthwatering and tender with a dark smoke ring that is nothing short of amazing. The Mac & Cheese is the best I've ever tasted served in a restaurant. No question, the best BBQ I've had in New England (and yes, I've been to all the New England states). If you're looking for BBQ in Portland, ME, or anywhere in New England, point your car here and you won't be sorry!

Christina Michaud

Not a big fan of the atmosphere. BBQ was ok but definitely not in my personal top 10. I would go back through to try the other meat options to see if I find something I like better.

Robin Cutler

Excellent decor. Friendly staff.

James Alvarez

Awesome restaurant, with great food, wide open space. A group of ~20 of us came here for dinner during a weekend in Portland. Everything was great. Everyone was happy. Food was legit BBQ. Highly recommend going.

Aaron Manning

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Salvage for their awesome food and kind gesture: While my wife and I were in Maine Med delivering our newest addition, I headed over to Salvage to get some dinner for us. I mentioned to the guy at the counter we just had a baby boy when I was ordering. Getting back to the hospital with our food I found they had snuck in an extra piece of pecan pie at no charge and a nice little congratulatory note. Thanks guys for the pie and awesome BBQ! See you guys again next delivery if not sooner!

Mark Dighton

Best smoked chicken ever. And everything else is really good.

Alyssa Gudjonsson-Kaply

Always a good time

John Boyle

Great drinks, excellent beers, one of the best selection of local breweries, and can't say enough about the food. Top it off with friendly folks. That's good Salvage!

Drew Hamlin

The food is good here and they’ve got a ton of local beers on tap. The building and atmosphere is very cool. It’s unfortunate that the service and staff made this review a 3 instead of a 5. It was a group of 4 of us and everyone walked out saying “you think they’d be friendlier”.

Alyssa Corson

Spacious. Fast service and good food

Caitlin McManus

Good food! Reminded me of Texas bbq. We stopped here on a Sunday night which is Bingo Bango night. Bingo was free to play and they had about 5 rounds with random prizes. The people who ran the bingo were pretty funny... almost like a comedy show too!

Stephen Sirocki

Good selection of beers

Bradley Earley

Great food and staff!!

Erika Mulvey

One of my favorite barbeque joints! Their brisket is smoked to perfection. Bonus points that it has private parking, too.

W N Marshall

Best BBQ in Maine! Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Had the ribs, chopped pork (chopped not shredded), coleslaw and potato wedges (they call them fries but they are huge wedges). My only complaint would be that they don’t serve baked beans!!

Michael /Roy/ Sullivan

Quality bbq, nice staff, good beer & cocktail selection

Stephen Fengler

I ordered a brisket sandwich with hush puppies and cornbread. The food was delicious once it was delivered a short time after ordering. The brisket was some of the best I've ever had with the sauce in it making the burger very juicy and flavorful. The atmosphere itself was relaxed and laid back with rustic decor and plenty of seating.

Barbara McPherson

Salvage BBQ is delicious. Their prices are fair for the food. The meat was tender and juicy. The portions of the meat and sides were generous. The sides were very good, the mac and cheese was okay, not my favorite. Their selection of BBQ sauces were all pretty good. The atmosphere is nice and the staff was friendly. They have a large selection of unique drinks at the bar and a soda and water fountain available. They also do trivia and other events most nights of the week.

Kari Beaulieu

Prices were good and portions were perfect. I can't wait to go back to experience their live music.

Chris Cairns

We had an incredible meal here. Great food (brisket sandwich, mac & cheese, fries). Very relaxed environment and a few arcade games in the back too

Lauren Cummings

Absolutely fantastic. The food was great. Bar tender was really nice . Love that they have parking too!

Canaan Morse

Decent barbecue for my home state, but way too high-priced for the product. $40-per-person barbecue ought to be trying to compete on an Oklahoma Joe’s level - rib meat should fall off the bone, burned ends should have real fat in there for flavor and body. Ribs are a solid B; chopped pork a dry C; brisket a B/B+ at best. Kansas City spoiled me, maybe, but these grades aren’t inflated.

Jeff Howe

First time visit. Good BBQ, reasonable prices, close to home, not crowded at our prefered early evening dining time. What's not to like? Good selection of beers on tap, too. I had ribs, Cole slaw, pinto beans and corn bread. Nice. We'll definitely be back, so I can try a different entree.

Ghassan 'Gus'

Loved the cozy dinning atmosphere! The food however was average. It had the flavor but the quilaty of meat was missing. Chicken was a little rubbery, the brisket either too fatty or too dry! The mac n' cheese and corn bread are winners but that's about it as far as sides go! The bar has great selection of beers and mixed drinks.

Ron Sargent

Awesome night of Marvel themed trivia tonight!

Chris Maynard

If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. This place is incredible. First time earing here and I'll never visit Portland again without going back. Brisket sandwich was off the charts.

Brandon Vermette

This place has some pretty terrible BBQ basically no flavor to it at all, then their mac & cheese was really dry and their chili was probably some of the worst chili I've had in my life it tasted like they only used one ingredient to spice it with and that was 10 tons of cumin or something similar to that. The hush puppies were way over fried like dark brown to burnt so it made them super dry and terrible tasting. I mean all you have to do is scroll through the pictures of this place and you can see just how dark and burnt their hush puppies are. Then to top it off the customer service side of it was just as bad if not worse than the food was, if I could give negative stars I would, all I can say is if you are ever going by and smell the food don't let that trick you into thinking this place is any good.

Sa Sa

Novelty Meal for a Brit..so enjoyed it.

John O'Connell

Great place and highly recommended. Showed up on a fluke night while they had issues with their bbq'r so I couldn't try a lot of their menu sadly. Will say surprisingly while I was enjoying what I could I stumbled, with four other friends, the geeks who game night. Hope you have as much as a comedy of errors as I had!

Ashley Abbott

Salvage does it right. The barbeque is great, the meat is ethical, the staff are kind, and the environment is casual. Be careful not to order too much! The lean brisket and mac and cheese are recommended!

Porter LaChance

great place to meet friends and excellent food n drinks...super bbq ribs

Snow Kelleher

Food worth living for.

Andrew Feeney

I'm surprised more people aren't having heart attacks here. Will be back to try everything on the menu--its that good ! Usually pretty crowded, especially if there is a sea dogs game.

Kelly Turner

A little pricy but the food was great and they have a good atmosphere and had a band playing.quick service!

Brian Harris

As always, Salvage delivers the goods. The brisket, the Mac n' Cheese, the sauces, the corn bread! So good!!

Jessica Steele

The food is great. The salvage decoration theme is comfortable and relaxed. Good beer selection, but overpriced.

scott bailey

BBQ was ok, prices could be less for the food portions. Atmosphere was fun

Amanda Dillingham

Cool place, great bbq! Will definitely be back.

Sonny Lyles

Good sized portions, quick service. Will definitely make a return visit.

Dave Bogdan

Walked in 630pm Saturday night 5 minute wait to order, got seated for 6 immediately food was out in minutes. Plenty to eat tasty. Good beer selection, lots of energy.

Tanya Emery

Wicked good bbq and a great atmosphere. Everything our party had was delicious. I wish I had asked for more piickles to go home with our leftovers!! Loved the space, the seating options, even the music. We.will be back!

Jeffrey White

Absolutely delicious food and great homely atmosphere comfortable for all walks of life.

Eric Neumann

I'm very disappointed. First I get there and the menu is by the pound . I was able to get a brisket 1/4 lbs. beans and slaw with a piece of pie . So basically1 meal cost 20.00 . I got home and set down expectating great tender meat and I got 5 small pieces of meat the had a half inch of meat to a half inch of fat on every slice. Worst part was it was try and tough . The beans were ok no award winner . I did enjoy the slaw.As for the chocolate pie. It was very very dense and heave could have used whip cream . Really a bad bad meal and a wast of 20.00

Scott McDaniels

Salvage BBQ is amazing. Best amazing sauce they make. I wish there were closer but it is worth the drive

Chris Wilkins

This place is wonderful and I will deffinetly be returning. A casual dinning environment, you order at the counter and find a tabpe yourself, then food is brought to your table. Drinks are ordered at the bar. The bbq itself was great by any standards this Mainer would have. They have a smokey house sauce and vinnager at every table and a plethora of other fun flavors distributed amongst the tables. They have a parking lot, it's located on a one way street behind the restaurant.

Francis L Mayer

Good prices and BBQ Pork. Good service.

Mindy Ziehler

Very good mac cheese portions were tiny

Rebel Scum

Have had better but it was decent. Dig the homie atmosphere...

Charles Thomas

Absolutely amazing! Great vibe, great food, great band. Super cool inside.

Dustin Thompson

Chicken was awesome. Ribs were awesome. Brisket was awesome. Chopped pork was a bit too fatty for me but still prepared amazingly. Fries, cornbread, sauerkraut, pickles, and chili were all excellent. Plenty of beers on tap. The pies looked great but we didn't have any. Well worth visiting!

Kevin McNeil

Authentic BBQ in foodie Mecca Portland. Counter service that is brought out to your seat yourself table. Big wide open space with a giant screen in the back. Brisket and chicken were high points while ribs were dry and too salty. Good for kids. Parking in the back.

kyle schoessow

Over priced and quality not what I expected. Not impressed and Def didn't hold up to the reputation I got from a few buddies.

Ken Alden

Went for their great ribs. Very good but not quite cooked fully. Mac n cheese is super. Great selection of local brews on tap.

Anthony Baker

Place has the best barbecue in Maine. Brisket, ribs, corn

Andrew Collins

Being from Texas, I'll confess that I was not anxious to try BBQ in Portland, ME, of all places. However, Salvage BBQ does NOT disappoint. Upon pulling into the back parking lot, we could immediately smell the cooker, and followed our noses from there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant, with a very old-time/antique feel to it. You order at the counter and they bring the chow to you. Although we didn't drink at lunchtime, the bar has an impressive drink selection for both mixed drinks as well as craft beers. I was amazed that this place even knew what Shiner Bock beer was (a bock beer, brewed in Central Texas), let alone serves it. The food was reasonably priced and my wife is already begging to go back. I'm confident that we will before this trip is over.

Rory Benjamin

The best BBQ joint in all of Portland, as far as I'm concerned. Your food is brought out in what feels like an instant, and my goodness is it delicious. Hearty portions of mouth-watering barbecue. The brisket alone is worth its weight in gold. Each table has a pleasant variety of sauces. The bar is well-stocked with quite a few local brews.

MARIA G

Great people, great food, great fun, great live music and dancing!!

mia sewall

Delicious bbq and collard greens and drive is and pies!

Nathan Ingraham

Came here with a big party and they were more than accommodating. Great beer selection and, most importantly, great BBQ. The brisket and ribs were particularly good. Would definitely go again when I’m in Portland.

Melissa Boussom

Oh, man, just when we thought we couldn't take another bite of seafood, we found this BBQ!! We were pleased to be offered free parking, especially on a game night, and delighted by the interior atmosphere. This was such delicious BBQ, and the best brisket I've ever eaten, that we recommended it to another hotel patron who had also eaten enough seafood for the week! I hope he went! I am confident no one will be disappointed! There is a variety of menu options, and they are all appetizing!

Gerry Tiernan

Excellent bbq. Lots of options. Great bar. Really fun and laid back vibe. Great for dates, families, really anyone except vegetarians.

Bernie Colvin

My buddy and I, along with our wives, devoured a tray of various meats - full rack of ribs, brisket, chicken and collard greens with extra slaw. They had numerous craft beers and were chanting against the Sox fans. Good time!
