REVIEWS OF Route 66 Restaurant IN Maine

Kimberlee Simon

I just adore this restaurant! The prices are in the normal range and the food is always exceptional and the decor is SO much fun to look at. It is also just steps away from from the chaos of busy BH during the summertime crush. My elderly parents just retired to Bar Harbor (their dream came true) and this is the first place I introduced them to as far as food goes. Now, when we visit from Bangor, we seem to always end up there. Just can't say enough..

phil auerbach

Throw back restaurant to the 60s great decorations and food. The service was fast and right on. We all enjoyed the experience.

Henry Mui

Excellent fresh lobsters and big lobster rolls.

Mark Holmes

Good food , waitress was so so . 12.99 for the rib sampler , BBQchicken 12.99 chicken n broc alfrado 16.99 .Plenty of old items to take you back to yesteryear.

Lucas Blaney

Great food, atmosphere, and service here! Wifi is not very good but they are attentive and it's a unique dining spot.

Michael Pesola

Fun place to visit and check out the 50’s memorabilia. Food is decent and fair for the price. Great place for families and fine service.

Carianne Bente

Typical dinner food plus seafood, fun atmosphere

Lisa Mac

Nostalgic and filled with so many fun things to look at. Lovely cider and beer. I had a hummus sandwich with fries. The fries were homemade and delicious. I recommend this place!!

Kelli Wheeles

The person that sat us had the attitude it was an imposition for her to do her job. Should have left instead of staying to eat. Super snarky server. The food was ok. When I asked for for a to go cup, I was told they were out of them. I wanted my sandwich as a wrap, again it was an issue. Go to look at the nostalgia not for the food or especially the service.

Yvonne Pelletier

The food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are very pleasant. Wonderful place to eat. Relaxing atmoshere.

Evan McGrory

My whole family was hungry, looking for a place to eat. Though the decorations were fun, the food was bad. No real healthy options. And those non healthy options, were covered in grease. It also, didn't taste good at all. The fries, floppy, greasey, and gross. We will not be returning☹️

Shelley Donahue

Recommend by the Inn where we were staying. Good food with options to please both children and adults. The chowder was really good! As was the blueberry pie. Very cool decor as well.

Tom Jahn

Food and drink prices are not bad, not impressed with the lobster bisque though. We went here based on the bisque reviews, but I can say this wasn't good. I've had a lot better lobster bisque in the Midwest, and there were barely any chunks of lobster meat in the bisque here. Considering that you can't walk 50 feet without finding a lobster in BH, I think it's ridiculous that they couldn't make a better lobster bisque.

Dan Caballes

Great collectible decor and the food was good.

David Webster-Snoad

Well worth going to. staff where great and milkshakes where awesome and very filling in a good way

Westley Annis

Great atmosphere. Quirky decor. Good food.

Robin Roth

Great lobster rolls!

Kyle Armstrong

Route 66 is one of the more unique restaurant's you'll ever visit. Make sure to read the back of the desserts menu to learn it's history. If you look inside, you'll find they offer a sundae inside a classic car, which you can take home. The bathrooms are quite comical if you find the red button. The service was good and the food was above average. If you're stopping for lunch, I highly recommend shrimp tacos as displayed in this post.

Daz

What a great find! Everything was delicious. I ordered the naked lobster roll and it was perfect. The lobster meat was nice and lightly flavored. The bread was toasted very nicely. Will definitely return on my next trip to Maine.

Jolyne Hughes

Amazing food and amazing designs inside

Jessica Sobotka

The food was sub par but the atmosphere was something else! Loved that everywhere you looked was a little story of something bigger.

Poke Ayden

Kinda on the higher end of prices, but food was good. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Dan Rembert

This place was awesome! At first we were a bit skeptical like "what does route 66 have to do with Acadia or Bar Harbor?" but the food, service and atmosphere were GREAT! Very fun place!

Ernest Grendell

Good burgers with a good price

Timothy Lenahan

It was hard finding a local restaurant with room for us that night, but we're so happy we found Route 66 Restaurant! I had the lobster mac n cheese and it was amazing!

Karen Griffith

Great food and nostalgia.

Don Schrooten

Nice atmosphere and the food was ok.

Awesome place good food

Pamella Clapham

Best lobster rolls and blueberry pie in Bar Harbour!!!!! The staff are so helpful and friendly. Apart from that the place is amazing it like stepping back in time but with excellent service..

Gary Messner

This restaurant has great food for lunch and casual dining. The atmosphere is focused on the 1950s nostalgia. I had a great time and enjoyed my burger. Must come here and visit.

Amy Marg

Had a lobster roll for the first time and it was delicious!! I also had clam chowder soup and it is so much better fresh than from a can. This place is a must try!!

Chris Weldon

We really enjoyed our lunch at Route 66. The lobster bisque, boiled lobster and lobster roll were nicely prepared. The lobster was not overcooked and tasted fresh. Good beer selection too. The atmosphere was bright and cheery and had lots of Route 66 memorabilia, even a large scale train rolling overhead.

Richard B

Our last night in Bar Harbor and we picked this place for dinner...GOOD CHOICE! Excellent food and service. If you're 65 or older(which we are), you'll love the decor. Will return if we ever get back here.

Jennifer Sneeringer

All the other restaurants in the area had a long wait for dinner...Route 66 was able to seat our family of 5 right away. I think since it is hidden, many people don't know about it. The food is fantastic! And the place is super cool...lots for kids to look at and do while waiting for food (which doesn't take long)

Michelle Raggett

Loved the look and feel of the restaurant. Everything on the menu sounded so good it was hard to decide. Ended up getting the bruschetta chicken. It was so delicious. Seriously one of the best meals I have eaten. My husband got a sandwich with fries and like many other reviews the fries are a little dull. If we go back he will probably get mashed potatoes instead since he kept trying to steal mine !

Colleen Grabosky

Fun, kitschy, good prices, good food. Indoor and outdoor dining.

Seth Hoenes

Great place. Wonderful, classic American food and amazing 50's car-themed decor.

Joanne S

Fun place with great music and unique decor! The food is good too!

Gayle Bauer

Atmosphere is the best part! Food was greasy, cold, and flavorless. Spend a few more dollars elsewhere and skip this restaurant.

James Fleming

Kitschy diner style old diner decor. They do have a full bar in a separate section of the building that looks neat. So many pieces of old memorabilia you wonder how they keep it clean. If old stuff is your thing you'll love this place, if not, dont go there. Food was good. Seafood alfredo pasta had lots of lobster and scallops. Excellent sauce on the crab stuffed baked haddock. Accompanying salads were a little skimpy. Good prices for what you get.

Marquelle Adkins

Neat atmosphere and good food.

Adam Helsley

Great food, nice service.

Kathie Carter

Cute nostalgic restaurant. Great lobster bisque & I also had a lobster quesadilla. We sat upstairs & had a great view. Worth stopping in.

Thomas Kemmett

Cool vibe, great server. Very tasty food.

Anabel Velazquez

Loved it.. the food was tasty and the service was excellent.

Jennifer Pearson

A throw back to the 50s with the decor

Andrew Bargen

This place has committed to the bit, and nailed it. If you love "Americana" and great seafood (get the Seafood Newburg), this is the spot. Full of fun retro memorabilia. Strong recommend.

Sunny Liu

Good food and very reasonable price in bar harbor area. Especially the shore dinner combo meal is the best deal in town. It come with claim chowder soup, lobster, salad and blueberry pie desert for $33. I definitely would recommend people to try it.

Kenny Clark

Great food and service. This place is like a museum with food! There is so much memorabilia and cool stuff from the 50's and 60's. It is a blast from the past.

Debbie Young

The service was a little slow but there is so much to look at you hardly notice. Recommend the shrimp ceasar salad.

Joann Ogle

Best lobster roll

Elkco 55

We found Route 66 to have the best price on a whole lobster dinner. The Cole slaw was good but could have had a touch more vinegar and milk for our taste. The fresh cut fries were amazing! The lobster was delicious as well. Their price was $23 for the dinner. Best price for beer, too........20 ounce draft was $4.95 for bud light and the blueberry beer was $6.95 for a 20 ounce. The server was very friendly and professional.

Jer 33:3

Good food good service good prices .5 stars. Very 50s . If in Bahaba check it out .

Melanie Schron

Delicious and great service! Such a fun atmosphere

could think of a name but this will do

Great food, great service, great everything, a little pricey but huge servings, definitely worth it,some of the best food I've ever had, if I lived nearby I'd be 600 pounds, just amazing.

anonymoose

Food and service was great! The lobster Mac and cheese actually had a lot of lobster in it unlike some other restaurants. Our server Skyler was great too! He was very helpful and we had a great experience!!!!!

Mad Hoop

Great food, great service and great decor.

Jana Patton

Lobster was very good blueberry pie ala mode was just as good. Not a coleslaw big eater but was very very good as well. Staff was friendly. Prices were comparable to others in town. Lots of Route 66 memoriblia in decor. Building is located back in a home off the street.

Barbara Bainbridge

Atmosphere great! Husband had great chocolate shake. My clam chowder and lobster roll were very tasty!

Lara Star Martini

What an unexpected awesome meal and an awesome place! This is the perfect spot for a slap of old-fashioned Americana. There’s tons of memorabilia inside this once-converted church, complete with a vintage gas station, and a train that is set up across the top of the restaurant. The bathrooms are also full of great decor, from framed yearbook photos and magazine covers inside the stalls, so large dresses tacked to the door. This is the perfect place to get a nice juicy burger and some fries, but since I was in Maine, I still opted for the classic lobster roll with a cup of lobster bisque. It was delicious, and what I needed since it was pouring rain outside! Good comfort food in a great environment. Perfect for kids since it’s colorful and plenty to look at, and the music is playing so the noise they make shouldn’t bother other diners. I’m glad we chose this place- it was tucked in the back of the street, so if we didn’t know we were going there from looking online at reviews, I might have missed it since it’s set so far back. They were able to accommodate us immediately without reservations, which was ideal since we were standing out in the rain looking for a dinner place!

Ben Willey

Awesome vintage spot. Food was decent but was a little odd if not into the genre.

Bill M

Good food all around. Great wait staff. Some food items could use a little improvement but overall good. Some items a bit pricey.

Jeffrey Shore

Excellent atmosphere good food friendly staff

John Beal

Atmosphere is worth the trip, all the fifties and sixties paraphernalia is awesome. Food is very good and service is excellent.

James Condon

Great food, atmosphere and family friendly!

Geoffrey Pottinger

I've been coming here for years and it feels like home every time I arrive. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, prompt, and accurate, and the ambiance is such a great throwback to the diners of the the rocking 60's when diners were the place to be...as I'm told, because I wasn't alive at the time to know for sure, but the energy from the ambiance is so retro and groovy that I wish I was alive to experience that era firsthand. Definitely a place to vosit and enjoy a meal. I'm in yhe doublr digit visit club now and will continue coming here whetger you do or not. It's awesome!

Douglas Steven

Best Clam chowder I ever ate for $6.99 Best pizza in Bar Harbor, Great Steak and cheese.

Zamont Burton

Service. Meh. The food meh. My server was very hands on. She did a very good job. The kitchen did mess up and sent me wings that were cold in the middle. But, she fixed it. She is the only reason they get s 5 star. Just saying.

Todd Boddorf

Very well decorated, lots to see while they prepare your order. Their Fried Fish was very good and the Hand Cut Fries are the BEST that I have had ANY WHERE !!

petes_awreet

A good bar with plenty of drinks and a sun terrace. The attached restaurant is worth a visit just to see the memorabilia alone. Absolutely fantastic. I wish we had had time to eat there but had to get back to the ship. This would be my first stop if ever in Bar Harbour again.

alex oyu

The food was awful. I asked for cheddar and not swiss for my burger (which comes with both), instead the server gave me double cheddar and the burger was very peppery. there was a hair in my fries too. order the fried mac n cheese .. server brought out a bowl of mac n cheese which was LITERALLY kraft mac n cheese.. the box kind. he then brought us the fried mac n cheese which was the same kraftmac n cheese but fried... for $10. DO NOT GO HERE.

Pascal Dino Schwyter

Great food, nice service and a gret look!

Debbie Miller

So much fun and the food is delicious

George Bull Miller

Lobster special was great. Terrific atmosphere

Air Jordan

Great food great vibe!

thomas defosses

The fries were extremely salty and inedible on all three meals. By the time we got the waitresses attention and asked for fresh fries our burgers were gone. We didn't visit during peak hours and there were only a few tables. The burgers were okay and service was okay. The potato slabs were pretty good.

Dan Mcgillycuddy

Cool place Antique signs etc... Food is nice

Denise Diresta

Intriguing & good place to play....I Spy

Heidi Pepin

Good place to take the kids - they have a scavenger hunt and plenty of meal options. Tried the lobster corn chowder, which was good, and several members of our party had sandwiches with fries. All decent portion sizes. Not the greatest place to eat in Bar Harbor, but a good choice, especially for families.

Steven Y

Lobster bisque had only 4 pieces of lobster. Everything else was great though. Cheese fries are a great size and topped well.

Bob R

Great location. Unique decor. Good food.

Oleg Tsygan

Cadillac was actually a Corvette. Other than that, great food and service!

Tom Rueb

Being from the Arcadia,OK highway 66 area, this was very athinic items.

James Guardino

Scrumdidliumptios. Wow. What can I say about this nostalgic retro 50s diner sandwiched down an alley in the quaint seaside town of bar harbor. Best lobster bisque I've ever had. burgers are delicious throw the fries could have used some work as they seem to be over oiled. Great for kids and adults alike don't forget to try out their milkshakes.

Kevin Werner

This is your classic throw back dinner tastefully littered with memorabilia that will remind Boomers of their youth. We got there 25 minutes or so before closing. We hung around after the hostess assured us we were welcome to stay. Our server was great. The food was tasty. If your into restaurants with a 50-60's throwback feel and standard American fare this will do splendid.

Rebecca Schweizer

Nice place to eat. We were here 3 times within 2 days and loved it everytime.

Jennifer Hicks

Delicious food! If you go you need to try the blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream. Great service!

Dennis Derstine

Food was amazing, atmosphere amazing! Staff was friendly and fast. Prices were very reasonable.

Donnie Meismer

We both had the Spinach Artichoke Dip and Lobster Cobb Salad. Large portions, plenty of egg, tomatoes, lobster chunks and the bacon is plentiful and crunchy. Beware, it comes with diced onions, in case you don't desire the dragon breath. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was hot and delicious. It came with sturdy tortilla chips for dipping. The ambiance is an eclectic, 1950s theme. Take a moment to read the history in the photo. Definitely worth the visit.

Steve Barrett

this place was phenomenal! great food. good prices. very eclectic feeling. very nice people.

Broady Eyer

Good portion sizes. Cute little place. Had great chicken alfredo but the nacho started was poor. Extra charge to get beef on the nachos and there was barely any, they also used mozzarella instead of nacho cheese. Was disappointed with that but everything else was great!

Sianna Orr

Very cool interior architecture/design. Food and service is good too!

Karthik Sethuraman

Amazing collection. Great vibe. Could be both cozy and crowd accommodating. Great waiting at the tables , kudos to the team. Good vegetarian options available.

yoshua montague

Good environment but the food isn't that great but I did love the fries

SpecialK Dad

Fun time. Great fried haddock.

Carla Lievano

The service was the best part! Emily was wonderful and very attentive! However food just so-so. My child's fries were limp and unappealing though his fish was decent. I got lobster Cobb salad which was ok, just nothing special. Some might dig the the atmosphere, not particularly for me. Gave 4 star due to excellent service.

The Old Boy

Everything was great, our server "Eva" was incredible and our bartender "Miss Romania" was awesome too. You can't beat it.

David Minshall

Service was perfect! Good food as well

Mariana Cestellos Ramírez

Absolutely fantastic! Not only is it really a cool and fun place but the food is absolutely extraordinary! The staff is really nice, friendly and helpful and the menu is just great. Everything was delicious starting with the blueberry lemonade and the lobster roll was absolutely fantastic!! The fries are extraordinary! Definitely coming back!

Barbara C

During our off-season visit, the food arrived quite quickly. Lazy Lobster, Lobster Carbonara Lobster Bisque soup, and Bam Bam Shrimp. All portions were generous and delicious. We felt the prices were very competitive for Maine,, not just this location.

Hati

Staff was nice, seated right away. Ordered chicken tenders, a burger, and a haddock taco. Chicken tenders were good, the blue burger had way to much blue cheese and the patty itself left much to be desired, the haddock taco was disappointing to say the least. On the coast of Maine I would expect fresh seafood and you can tell this was a frozen fish. Will not be back.

Stuart Smith

Great burger after a long day of hiking. Lots of 50's / 60's debris

Salah Messaoud

Nice decoration and staff

Robert Scheel

Friendly cozy place with good food.

Siddarth Shrestha

I ate at this place on June 14th 2019. The food was bland. I ordered their house burger .The onion rings had no flavour . The burger was cooked but lacked flavour. Even their fries was bland worst American food I have ever ordered !!!

Andy Rouse

Great food, great atmosphere!

Rocque Long

Wife had lobster, mine stuffed haddock, lobster slightly overcooked, still delicious,my dish very good, fries very good, service very good considering how busy they were .

Bill Liu

This restaurant is one of the unusual restaurants found in the northeast. One of its unusual traits is that it has full dinner sets. Seafood prepared there is a fisherman's dream. The classic setting and 70s styled decorations coordinate with the music played there.

Kathy Stewart

Decent portions. Everything tasted great.

Dennis X

So far, this has been one of the best places in town to eat. Originally an old church, it’s now 50’s themed restaurant. Food was great, service was friendly and fast. From a pilot that eats on the road a lot, I give this place 5 stars!

Linda Sferra

Good food...comfortable atmosphere

Peter Stegehuis

Fun place, very good food and service!

Kristen Burch

I ordered lobster bisque and it was delicious. I also had nachos and they were also good. The prices were OK. Nothing in this area is inexpensive. I loved all the antiques and decorations inside. A person could spend a long time looking at everything. It was a cozy, fun and interesting place to eat. I would go back if I’m ever in the area again.

Sonic Vamp

Amazing place, good food and so much to see.

Bill Crigger

Great atmosphere and great food and wait staff

chris fox

The atmosphere is pretty cool. I like the old memorabilia, it gives a great experience, atmosphere wise. The food, however, was less than great. I got the wrong thing, twice. It was really not worth the money in my opinion. Not only did i not get my order right by the time i got it it wasn't very good. And i just ordered a burger. It's one of the easiet things to make.

spunknit

We found this place by accident, while walking in the area. I loved the vibe and the decor, we would see something new everywhere we looked. The service was great, but the food was just okay, considering the price. I'm giving stars on the service and atmosphere, not so much on the food.

Jeanie Sing

Cute surrpunds, great food!

Robert Schupak

Nice decor, burger good but a little on the dry side. Still, would go back again.

Twila Heckler

Great food served up with nostalgic atmosphere!

Brandy McGrory

Cute decorations and waitress was very nice. That’s the only positive I have to say. Very greasy food. Fries were so greasy and undercooked. Pizza was sitting on a plate of grease. Grilled salmon was clearly frozen and over cooked. Tasted like it was microwaved.

Adam Bair

Great atmosphere. Greasy spoon type place. Kids loved it. Lots to look at.
