Love love love Mother India. This place is legit. Chai tea is delish, naan always doughy, and everything is spiced and simmered to perfection. A little hit or miss with friendliness and service depending on who is there, but the food is generally worth it and if you have a chance to chat with the owner, she's delightful. We've driven for over an hour to eat here more than once. Highly recommended.

I needed a good place to get my Indian food fix and I found it in Mother India. Very CLEAN and the food is very fresh, I took advantage of the buffet. This food was made with Love. The chutneys are spicy and the plum sauce thick, just how I like it. They do have vegetarian options, the Mango Lasie is very much worth it as well. Very good first impression and I will return. If you are in the area please make an effort to find Mother India.

The worst restaurant me or my family has ever been to. The plates served were dirty, the food was contaminated with chef's/waitress hairs and much more. Even after complaining about the contamination, no attention was paid and instead what followed was a series of arguments. Would not recommend the place at all.

•My husband is English and said this tasted just like the Indian food back home. •Onion Bahjis were delicious •Garlic Naan was the best I've ever had •I order Chicken Tikka Masala and it was so good. I got it mild and there was no spiciness, just how I like it. •Husband order Makhni Chicken-medium, it was good but super spicy-I had a tiny bite and couldn't handle it but he said it was really good. •We ordered takeout and they were prompt, polite and quick to have it made. We spent 50 bucks on 2 meals, 2 orders of Naan and 2 orders of appetizers. I'd say that's a really fair price.

Came into the town of Auburn with my boyfriend when he had Police training in the area. Wanted to find a place close to the hotel we were staying at while he was in classes. Found this India place. I had the lunch buffet 2 days in a row (Wednesday & Thursday). Very different experiences. Tuesday I had lunch buffet and mango lassi. Food was full/abundant at buffet station and service was professional. The bill came to 12.95. I left a $10 tip. Came the next day, Wednesday. Got the lunch buffet and mango lassi. One of the servers hesitated to have me sit and eat verses take out because they were so busy, but then told me where to sit. The food at buffet station was running very low and they were almost out of a few things. (The buffet is very small, so this is big deal when you’re hungry lol). My bill came to 18.95. What? For the same lunch buffet and mango lassi I had the day before. Still left a $5 tip but what a difference in experience from the day before. The server boy basically threw the calculator in my face when he told me the bill amount, so not the same professionalism I got the day before. I guess they don’t like courteous tippers

Best Indian food in town! (only Indian food in town). Quite tasty. If the dining room is half full, the service starts to break down. As long as you're OK with longish waits and occasionally confused orders, enjoy!

the young woman who was the daughter of the owners was so rude! when I asked questions as I ordered, she was snarky and rude....I had half a mind to be disrespectful towards her too. All in all, I WILL never order from them again. Unless the young man who's the son takes my order. Either way since I cannot guarantee that I WISH I COULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN 1 STAR. Horrible service. Disrespectful folks.

Service was prompt and pretty attentive. Food was prepared quickly. Shrimp Vindaloo was supposed to be 6/10 heat, but had no trace of heat. Similar results across the table. The anticipation of heat left me disappointed when the food arrived and was devoid of heat and not full of flavor. It was, despite my optimistic outlook, pretty bland. Chutneys were delicious, and the appetizer (Nizam choice) was hot, and fried foods still crunchy. I would return, but not at the top of my list. Other reviews hint that a more promising cook works there.

Worst restaurant I have ever experienced in entire US. Food is kind of so so, not that great but the management is very pathetic and rude. It's something like getting trapped if you visit this restaurant by mistake. They forcefully impose 15% tips with 10% ST and that too in a hand written bill without any tax ID information or printed information. I even suspect if they have any lisense from govt to run this restaurant.

Hi, Today i was on a business trip to Lewiston, ME & the weather was very bad & too Cold. I ended up working until 8:30 PM & got hungry. I was looking for Indian Food & finally found Mother India. I went straight away to the restaurant & found its closed though they are open until 9 PM. I thought I'd give it a try by calling them as it was still 8:40 PM but it went to a voice mail stating that the restaurant is closed, but thank God the owner of the restaurant answered the call at the end of the Voice mail . I thanked her for answering the call & asked if she could provide some food to pickup. to my surprise she welcomed me IN & got the food I ordered in 10 mins. During this 10 mins, I thanked her for the kindness & help though they are closing down for the day. She was very nice & such a sweet person, told me that she understood my situation in the bad weather & being a vegetarian its hard to get food outside. She is truly a Mother India. Thank you aunty ! Finally i took the food to my hotel & it was delicious & perfect for the taste buds.

By far the best Indian food in Maine, probably the best meal I have had in the state IMHO. Everything was fresh hot and delicious. Service was courteous and attentive. Atmosphere and ambiance are perfect for a romantic dinner, or getting together with friends. Very obvious that from the owner down everyone cares deeply about providing an unrivaled dining experience. My new favorite place.

Food was ok. Not special and not any better than anywhere else I have been. The chicken in my butter chicken curry was kind of shredded chicken rather than lumps of chicken which was kind of weird. Overall the main detractor was the service. We sat there for 30 minutes with no rice, with a restaurant pretty much empty, and no one ever came to refill anything. I had to walk up and ask for rice and a water refill and then later walk up again for a to go box and the bill. We probably only ate for 20 minutes and we were there for over an hour because of all the sitting and waiting for a server. Sadly Its also pretty expensive. $50 for 2 entrees, a tea, a naan, and a dessert. Sadly its one of the only Indian places to eat here so if you are really jonesing for Indian food I guess this is an ok place to get your fix.

The low rating is entirely attributable to the wait staff. My wife and I didn’t have enough time to actually enjoy the meal. It took more than 40 minutes to get nan and drinks. The young, snarky hipster waiter was too busy making time with two college girls to bother with us, I guess. If I could have, I would have deducted his tip from the bill. I could carve a more pleasant person from a bar of soap. Unscented soap. I have never been waited on by someone with a more offensive and dismissive attitude towards paying customers and this is the first time in my life I haven’t left any gratuity. Someone this toxic shouldn’t be allowed to mingle with actual human beings.

This may be my favorite restaurant in Lewiston/Auburn. The staff is extremely friendly without being invasive. The menu is extensive, includes lunch portions and is very fairly priced. They do a buffet at least once a week. The service is quick. You can order take out. Best of all though is the food. It is always fantastic!

I've been here twice, and I can assure any reader that I will frequent this restaurant quite often. I am not extremely well-versed in Indian food-safe for the typical curry- however I've tried a couple different meals and they were both delicious! I like my food spicy, and it did not disappoint, however you can ask for spice on a scale from 1-10, and they accommodate really nicely. Great food selection, and as Lewiston is becoming more up-and-coming, the location is quite nice as well! Especially during an art walk! The employees are all really friendly, and the service is prompt but incredibly delicious! I highly recommend this local restaurant!

Great service, really excellent food. Name your spicy level was great. I asked if the spicy level was calibrated to Maine, and the answer was yes. So 3 is a a slight, but flavorful heat and 5 is a spicy medium. The waiter said those were the two most common spice levels among customers.

I've come here a long time and it's always been a nice experience. They cook a variety of food of which my favorite will always be the Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. The meal is always very filling and the waiters are always very timely and make sure that you are taken care of. There's also a nice buffet special offered on Sundays if you're in the mood for trying a variety of different food to see what you like. I like that I would be able to take someone on a date here or just hangout with friends or family at this place.

The owner Savita explain the food and culture. Talked to us like she would do anything for us. The food was OUTSTANDING!
