We got are food really quickly and figured out why very quickly. Are food would have been very good around lunch time but we ordered it at 300pm lol. It was barely room temperature and had been sitting on the line since lunch wait to be served. There South Portland restaurant is great but I will not be back to the Bangor one again.

Delicious, delicious food! Reasonably priced and very satisfying. I have a huge appetite and Moe's always fills me up. The ever changing sides menu keeps it entertaining, but make sure to have the sweet potato, slaw or beans. Great catering options, too: you will not be disappointed in the expertly prepared meats. Also, kids eat free ALL THE TIME! This place is great for families. Check it out on Thursdays for the world's best Thanksgiving sandwich.

Pretty standard northeastern BBQ fare. The quantity was good, the price fair. The food was all sweet, so if tangy BBQ is your style this wont please you. The staff were attentive and nice. The bathroom was clean, if a bit well used. I got the impression that they painted the walls dark so it'd be easier to hide stains. Maybe I'm being judgy. Regardless, we liked it, we didn't love it.

For the sides, chili was good, corn was just ok, banana pudding was good and coleslaw was good (but pickled rather than creamy - good in my book, maybe less good in some other). Friendly staff and nice fast casual set up. Good place to go!

I moved to Portland in 1990, from Kansas City. I was raised on BBQ. I missed it big time. During my work travels around Maine I met Dewey (the proprietor) at his first Moe's location in Bangor. His food is fantastic! Fresh sides that rotate daily, and super barbecue. I stopped at the Bangor Moe's every time I was in the area. So.....guess how excited I was to learn that last week he opened his second BBQ shop in my town of Portland, Maine?! Well, I'll tell you. I was his first customer, and I went with the classic pulled pork sandwich. As I expected, it was delicious. A couple of days later I pulled up for lunch and the smoker in the parking lot was kicking out aroma from heaven. I went in, sat at the bar and had a beer and half order of ribs. The ribs and my side of peas and collards were FANTASTIC, and the cold micro-brew made it even better. Moe's is a great spot to watch sports; lots of TVs, great music and comfortable seating. But most importantly, the food is top notch. Go get some!

I've only been there once so far but I thought it was above average BBQ compared to others in the area. I was expecting bolder flavors but the meat was juicy and had good flavor. I had the pulled pork and brisket. The potato salad was very good and the slaw was fresh. Prices were reasonable and the staff was great.

I took my dad there today for father's day. It was my first time and for him as well. We usually talk while eating. Uh not today... The potato salad was good had good flavor. The slaw wasn't too bad. The ribs juicy not over cooked tender, fell right off the bone. The last time I had good bbq was in Texas. The price was right for the amount of food and we both walked out pleasantly stuffed and pleased. We will go back or should I say next week when i get paid

My husband and I shared the “haul it home” double wide with pulled pork, beans, cornbread, and buns. The meat and sauce were fine, not bad not amazing, didn’t have a lot of smokey flavor. The beans were way too sweet, the texture was thick, and they were inedible to me. The cornbread was dry and I wasn’t a fan of the scallion (?) in it. Quantity of food for the price was good but the flavors weren’t great (and isn’t that what bbq is all about).

My first time going wasn’t very good, soggy bun, forgot my cornbread, cold sour tasting Mac and cheese. Baked beans weren’t bad, pulled pork sandwhich was mediocre. It’s been a few months thought I’d give it another try thinking maybe they were having a bad day, but after the same thing happened again won’t be returning. Don’t let them rip you off, if your looking for a true BBQ experience, try Salvage BBQ in Portland.

Moes has real southern bbq taste which is rare up here. Every sandwich I have had has been fantastic. The majority of the time the wings are delicious, however a couple of times I have gotten them and they were very dry which is why I docked a star.

Went there Thursday 6/6 at 5 pm. Ordered pulled pork sand mac an cheese. Worse mac an cheese I have ever had looked liked it was old and it was cold. Took it back to the counter an asked for some fresh an hot. Got some fairly warm. The other people in our party said theirs was also Luke warm. Looking at the business they were doing everything should have been hot and fresh. Don't think we will go back.

And just in case you were wondering, yes, their slab, chicken, and pork platters are THAT good, especially with their famous "Bama" sauce. My only request would be for Dewy to open up a Moe's on the Seacoast of New Hampshire!

Went to Moe's for ribs, they were out. Not the best start, but we were there so we went with alternatives, smoked sausage, pulled pork and chicken strips. The smoke sausage was quite good, but very small portion size. Had a side of black beans and rice, watery and not a lot of flavor. The pulled pork was good as well, and a slightly more generous serving than the sausage. Coleslaw was ok, nothing noteworthy. The chicken strips came in a generous serving size, and while good flavor, breading was overly dry and tooth achingly hard. Didn't like the fact I had to ask for straws and lids for beverages...(not kept on counter for environmental reasons.) Staff was very courteous and friendly, but paid tip (pay at time of order) and realized I get my own order and pick up after myself. I don't mind doing this but had I realised this I would have adjusted my tip accordingly. Would not recommend, just ok with premium pricing.

Some of the food is ok, but the BBQ ribs are amazing. They just melt off the bone into your mouth. My disappointment was the lack of a "sampler" type of order that has a bit of everything. You can add "moe meat" on to any order for a few more options but not all of them (they were out of smoked sausage!). EDIT: I've been here twice now and they were out of smoked sausage both times

I remember when Moe's opened up here, it was delicious then and it's delicious now. The pulled pork and ribs have always been their specialty but they make everything they create taste good. The meal-of-the-day is always a hit, and the sides are very good albeit a little small depending on how good you think it is! The prices are good and include free refills and extra sauce. They also improved their pavement parking which is nice. I'm very glad to have them in town.

I order from here almost on a weekly basis. I love the ribs. They are always and consistently cooked to perfection. Not too smokey but just enough so you taste the meat and paired with their unique cornbread is making my mouth water as i speak. The brisket is to die for however i feel like they should make that a daily item instead of a couple times a week. Also the the baked apples or baked peaches are soooo delicious and another item i wish they had daily. The bbq sauce is good but I prefer a little dry rub of theirs on the side for the ribs and brisket. Oh and the wings are another great item. Their original recipe and dry rub recipe with their white sauce they give you with them is a perfect match. The customer service is always really friendly and the girls are super cute. Orders take less than 15 minutes usually even when they are in their lunch or dinner rush. Overall i love this place. 10 stars if i could.

I had never heard of Moe's, but my mom and sister and I were driving through the area when we decided to check it out, and I am so glad we did. You cannot beat the price for what you get, as I got an entire platter with 3 heaping sides for about $10-12. The wings I got were perfectly smoky and falling off the bone. The ribs were absolutely delicious, with a rich barbecue sauce unlike anything I've had before. I really appreciate when a barbecue place pays attention to sides, and every side was delicious, especially the mac and cheese. I was so full. Eclectic, casual, laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff. If you're in the area or you're craving some filling barbecue, you can't miss out!

Excellent BBQ, good atmosphere, a bit unconventional process, you order at the counter and pick a table, they bring the food to you. Portion size was perfect, I left full but not stuffed. Only minor complaint is that the meat was a bit cold, not enough to complain but noticeable.

This place seems to get a lot of positive reviews so we decided to give it a try. I was really in the mood for brisket... but apparently that is not a menu mainstay and only offered one day a week... go figure. I ordered the special Cubana pulled pork and smoked chicken with potato salad and macaroni and cheese. My girlfriend chose the fried catfish with potato salad and rice beans. My chicken was so dry it wasn't even edible... definitely wasn't juicy or flavorful as you would expect smoked chicken to be. It tasted like an unseasoned chicken breast that was cooked some days ago and reheated. The pulled pork was also pretty dry and had only slightly more flavor than the chicken which wasn't saying much. Both had some strange colored sauce squirted over it which didn't add any redeeming qualities to either dish. The mac and cheese again was dry and tasted as if it had been reheated in a microwave... I never did get the potato salad as they served me what I believe was a pork chili instead... but it was more like a soup. No chili consistency whatsoever. My girlfriend seemed to enjoy her catfish and said it was good but she also disliked both her sides. Very disappointing. I was hoping that I would really enjoy this place but what a waste of money- I ended up tossing half of it in the trash.

I love it! Plenty of meat and side choices. Platters are a great deal and will fill you up. Only minus is for young kids or those who don't like their BBQ spicy, most everything has a bit of a kick to it. Cornbread has a little hot pepper as does the beans. Their sauce is tangy and a bit peppery. Not sure what those with tender palates can eat here, but for me it's close to BBQ perfection

Being from North Carolina I had given up on pork and BBQ in Maine. That is until Moe's BBQ in Bangor.The pulled pork was moist, zesty, delicious, best... cornbread with jalapeños moist with crunchy edges, perfect! Young lady behind counter suggested jambalaya and was it ever tasty with a little zing from the peppers and sausage. Try the Cole slaw, vinegar base but not biting. Very good with the pulled pork! VERY friendly staff. The owner is out front checking on customers and interacting with all of us eating or waiting in line to take out. The platter is more than worth the extra dollar. Piled high with pork, generous portions with two sides. Highly recommended from a BBQ expert. Heading back to NC.

My wife had the rib platter. Said they were very good & moist-a bit spicy-she didn't share. I had a smoked turkey platter-delicious. They had a special of brisket but was sold out by 5pm. Be prepared as there seems to be jalapeno in almost every thing but it is not over powering, subtle warmth. Laid back atmosphere. Will be back.

Moe's is interesting. They have good food, excellent wings. They seem to be a cross between a BBQ joint and fast food, though clearly better than fast food. They do catering though I've never tried them for this. They have their BBQ available a la cart in pound quantities. The staff is exceptional, the prices are very reasonable. They have alcohol available and a drive thru window. I love the menu, simple and with daily changes. Lots of southern favorites. I like their grits and cornbread.

That was the best bbq I’ve ever eaten! Pulled pork sandwich with some of that extra sauce was incredible. Baked apples were like a home made apple pie. Mac and cheese was a bit bland but everything else made up for it.

Very clean. Trendy atmosphere. It's carolina style bbq. Vinegar based sauce and the chicken appeared to be cooked in mayonnaise. Overall food was very yummy. They use baby backs for ribs. Mac and cheese was dry but the rest of the food made up for it. Food had a little kick. Corn bread was grilled and had bits of jalapeño in it. Customer service was excellent. If you are in town it is definitely worth the stop.

Stopped by Moe's today to try it out and was happy with my experience. It's a small little place but it's welcoming and friendly. The staff greet you when you first walk in and are helpful in explaining their menu for first time visitors. They don't rush you while you look over the choices and you can seat yourself. They have free refills which is nice and they have decent prices. It looks like there isn't a lot to eat but trust me you walk out of there full. They have everything you need. Napkins on the table, spoons, forks, knifes and wet naps for you to grab. Some tooth picks would be nice but you can't be picky. There are flat screens for the sports fans and restless children and the atmosphere is overall good. The only downsides of the day was that the music was too loud and there was not enough sauce on the food leaving it a little dry. But you can always ask for more sauce and other than that the taste was very good. I will return. Thanks for making it a good time.

Now this is a place that I'll drive to from the other side of Portland or even the state. The BBQ is good and easily reminds me of eating good stuff in Memphis, Houston, and New Orleans. Last year there was some consistency issues, but these days the sides are solid and BBQ always a winner. I love that gluten-free options are easy to find.

Sometimes the food is brilliant but often times it is not. The mac and cheese side is really poorly made. The catfish was uncleaned and had not been soaked in milk...so it was chewy and tasted like mud water. They are frequently out of stock on their best menu items. The actual BBQ meats are great if they have them.

I recently moved from VA to ME and was searching for good BBQ at a fair price. I found the place! I have been at least 15 times in the past 3 weeks and the service is always great! Mostly, I get take out but a few times I’ve dined in. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner last night and I can truly say he cares about the service that his customers receive. They are looking to hire more staff and I think it would be a great place for anyone to work!

The atmosphere is decent and the staff was friendly. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. I got the shrimp mo boy with Mac and cheese and red beans and rice. Both of the sides lacked flavor, no use of seasoning at all. The mo boy was okay, the saving grace was the slaw and the BBQ sauce I added, plus the roll was good.

The restaurant itself was very clean, had a nice homey atmosphere, and they played good music. I would definitely recommend it to anybody looking for great BBQ in the Bangor/Brewer area, especially if you are on a budget and still want great food!!
