At the present the business has a score of 4.1 stars out of 5 and this score was based on 651 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is positive, and it is founded on a very high number of reviews, so we can conclude that the evaluation is quite accurate. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they are happy, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Diner.
It was well worth the wait. Small nostalgic spot. Great food and atmosphere. Our waitress Julian was so nice and real. Cash only... l
Always the best muffins in the state. French toast is my favorite and real Maple syrup is available too. Love the owner and we always have a great experience with the staff.
Horrible food, horrible owner who can’t even cook hash browns correctly, they were raw and she came and yelled at me for telling her my food was raw, then again she was entitled enough to yell at a 2 year old, never comming back, even if entitled millenials try to defend her yelling at 2 year olds
Come on... this place is an institution. Best breakfast in Portland! Had a funfetti muffin this last go around and it was so worth it. Remember to come in with cash.
Straight forward, local breakfast restaurant. Fast service and good food!
Service was meh. food was blah. Eggs were greasy, and they don't do poached egg. Just a typical diner that serves omelettes and scrambled egg with cheese and meat. If you are just visiting Maine, this place can be skipped.
Funky diner with good food and a better atmosphere. Loved it here!
Great place. Staff was nice, our waiter was excellent and on top of everything. Specials tased great as I got one myself. My husband got a burger and it came with free fries! You can’t go wrong with free fries!! Will be going back next week.
Very good breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. Veggie omelet spiced up with jalapenos was awesome. Thank you!
The owner doesn't tolerate BS from entitled idiots and kids who aren't fortunate enough to have competent parents, and that means she can focus on making those delicious pancakes. If you expect to be given special treatment, don't eat out - period. If you want an awesome breakfast, check this place out.
Really good breakfast at a great price. Cash only.
Excellent.
Quaint little spot for a great breakfast. All real food cooked fast and served with a smile. Great service and plenty of options including fried blueberry muffins you wont ever forget.
Best in town.
Good food and a great atmosphere. Just a few blocks from my apartment.
Arrived at the restaurant and I had to put my name on the waiting list. Was asked to wait outside. No big deal it's a small place done that before. I've waited 10-15 minutes and 2 people that I know got a table. Its a table for 4 so I asked them if I could join them. One of the employees walks by and barks "NO ADDING PEOPLE TO A TABLE ONCE THE PARTY SITS DOWN!" The 2 at the table and myself can't believe what we just heard. The table is half emptied that means less sales for them. So I wait a few more minutes and my name comes up and the same individual again barks at me "WHERE'S THE REST OF YOUR PARTY?" I tell him he'll be right back and he's barks once again "NO SITTING UNTIL YOUR HOLE PARTY SHOWS UP!" My goodness I'm thinking. I try to explain to him I know what he wants to order but he just walks away from me and sits 2 people that came there well after I did. I just walked out in disgust. This is a hole in the wall restaurant that used to have charm. Now it's just an overpriced place to eat where a side order of attitude is served with each dish. They also play their music way to loud. If I could give them no stars I would. Just a bunch of rule nazis. Never going back there again.
Wonderful food and service. Our server’s suggestions were legitimate upgrades and not just flavorless upsells to make the check larger. The food was wonderful, the cap’n Crunch French toast is a must. Great place!!
Must hit breakfast spot if you’re in Portland.
Great place, you will probably wait for a seat, but it's worth the wait.
Crustless quiche was very small and dry. Hobo has brown potatoes were over crunchy and dry.
I make deliveries to Marcys. Great group of people work there.no wonder they're busy
Went to Portland for the weekend last year and ended up eating here at every meal. Doing it again next month. Can’t wait. Get the turkey dinner. Sooooo good
Worth the wait for this small local breakfast joint. Great service and good food.
Wanna go just because someone had the balls to do what the parent should have ...all parents listen up , nobody wants to hear your brat screaming in the morning while eating ...parents should have respected other paying customers and removed the brat !!! It's the owners choice to run her business the way she chooses, take ur food to go if u can't control ur brats .... I was in a doctor's office with a 4 yr old rolling around on the floor screaming , moving the chairs, kicking other patients, mom sat there looking at her phone ...I wish I had told that kid to sit down.. What is going on with some of these parents ??? Only u love ur annoying child ....
Breakfast was awesome, sat @ counter, fast friendly service. Great local coffee and amazing food choices. I had delicious peach cobbler pancakes with two eggs, hash browns and bacon. Had to take some pancakes to go, so much food. Also got a grilled blueberry muffin for the road. Next time in Portland, this will be the place to go.
Good food and great service! The price was right too.
Great food! The Baked Potato (loaded!) Omelette was fantastic. Counter service was just right...friendly, attentive and coffee fills just at the right time. Love the music too!
My son and I love having breakfast here
This place is great! It's super cute on the inside, lovely staff, and tasty food! Get there early if you want to try a fresh baked homemade muffin, they sell out fast!
Best restaurant can’t wait to go back, great service and great staff! Prices and food are great too. Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting quality food.
Excellent Diner with friendly and efficient staff, great music thay complements the retro atmosphere. Also great bang for the buck.
My veggie omelet was delicious. Fresh cut fruit bowl had several kinds. Very nice service. A wee bit wait Saturday morning and always worth it. Mama and papa style =}♥
Great diner food and really friendly staff! Real maple syrup...:)
Great breakfast, friendly folks (especially the cooks!), and the 80s classic rock playing was a nice soundtrack to go with my eggs & hash
Even on an early Saturday morning theres a bit of a wait but totally worth it. Awesome homemade delicious muffins from Darla, we had raspberry. Great spot and service, the physical space needs a bit of cleaning attention ie: dust on the fan blades made it look dingy. But the food was great and plenty of it so we"ll have the rest of that muffin and potato pancakes from the leftover hashbrowns!
Lovely local spot to grab a great breakfast or brunch. Just make sure to bring cash with you - as they are cash only!
Possibly the best muffins ever, as well as great omelets and French toast.
Great breakfast, reasonably priced, with friendly staff.
Amazing diner! Freaking delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely eat here every time I'm in town
This Place is one of the top breakfast spots in an extremely competitive area. The thing is they have been doing it for years. Sat at the counter and got exceptional service and even better food. Sadly I didnt go for the muffin this time as I had hippie french toast and a huge egg white omelette. Its about balance!
RUDE and Slow Service! This morning was my first and last visit. The waitress wanted to seat my family and I in the corner booth. But when my daughter wanted to sit in the open booth by the window instead, the waitress snapped, “JUST WAIT A …
About a 30 minute wait, once we sat down the food also took about 30 minutes. Everything was as expected. There wasn't anything unusual or special about the menu and the food was prepared as we ordered it.
Delicious breakfast, awesome service and the best French toast in town... possibly in the world. We love this place! Jonathan and his Mom's.
Taylor's Pork Roll! Lovely nook and staff. Neat and meticulously clean. My only suggestion: use more superior ingredients such as fresh spinach, greek olives, jalapenos and better quality cheese. I can see the new owner making such improvements.
Only had credit card and the place is CASH ONLY, so had to leave. Look forward to going back when I have cash handy as the place gets good reviews, and the atmosphere is awesome old school diner.
Great as always!
Wasnt even able to eat there because cash is the only accepted form of payment and with no ATMs in sight, no other choice but to go to Miss Portland Diner.
Love it!!! I was in the restaurant for the last 30 minutes of the child creaming her head off. I was actually trying to get my waitresses attention to ask for my order to be cancelled, or to take my food to go when the owner FINALLY …
How much do I love this place?! Hard rock, amazing food, friendly and slightly cheeky service. Thinking of moving to Portland just to be a regular here. Seriously, get the chocolate hippy french toast.
Marcy’s Diner is the best place for delicious food and even better customer service. The new owner (Mandy) makes every customer leave full and wanting to come back time and time again. Gillian’s service skills are incomparable and the whole Marcy’s experience is something every Portland restaurant should strive for. Between the daily specials and all the cool flavors you can add to every drink, hobo hash browns & grilled muffins, I can not believe I did not eat here sooner. Even if you stop by on a busy weekend, it is most definitely worth the wait. (P.S the portions are huge and veryyyy affordable).
Truck stop quality breakfast that trades on hype to attract tourists. Good for whoever owns it for figuring out how to make a good living off a flat top and 20% food costs
Dinner food, super friendly staff. Cozy and delicious.
Great breakfast! Great muffins! Great music!
Great food and HUGE portions for a awesome price. Definitely worth a visit. Also, it's cash only, so come prepared!
Group of us came to get breakfast here before catching a bus to Boston. We had enough time to stop at Marcy's which we heard was pretty good... Been waiting outside and the lights are all off and there is no one here... guess we are headed somewhere else!! Hours of operation say "we open at 6am!" I guess not today.
Great people make great atmospheres. No bs. HOT food. Don't be an idiot.
The playlist is great, the coffee is endless, you can get house made muffins split and grilled plus pancakes filled with all sorts of good stuff. What's not to love?
Great food, great people, great place. They also give you a bucket of a bunch of different hot sauces when you ask for hot sauce not just the watered down "hot sauce" known as Tobasco, that alone warrents a 3 star lol.
Amazing!!!! Just wow. Food is amazing and staff is great.
If go eat choc chip pankecake it da bomb
Get yourself a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich. NOW!
Fantastic establishment. The food is great, the service is fantastic, it's very quiet and relatively peaceful. I really like that the owner speaks her mind and makes what is HER establishment a place she loves. I hope more people will learn …
Amazing staff and food!
Not just a good diner but one of my favorite meals I've had in the city including fancier restaurants. Staff was awesome, music playing was excellent, overall atmosphere was cute (wall of hot sauce!). Everything we ordered was delicious, with grilled muffin and hobo hash browns being stand out items.
Great food, great service!!
Stayed at the courtyard Marriott and had breakfast at Marcy's three days straight, every meal was excellent! The staff are great and remembered me after day one. The wait can be long for large groups. I'd recommend single or two people and sitting at the bar. Specials change every day and can be very interesting. Everything I had was spot on. The muffins are mind blowing, get one to go if you fill up on pancakes or hash. It's cash only!! But it's worth every penny. A must try when in Portland.
Great food and service!
Real small place, very busy on weekend. Go only if you are willing to wait 30+ minutes. Breakfast is fresh, though nothing out of the ordinary.
GREAT STAFF PROFICIENT IN THE PERVADING OF GREAT FOOD SUPPORTED BY AN SAFE AND FRIENDLY AIR.
Fantastic. Worth the wait
Yummy and great service!!!
Terrible owner edit: new ownership, hopefully more kid friendly
10/10 recommend Marcy’s Diner!! Amazing food and great owner! I will definitely be going back :)
Real food. Rock music. Rad staff. I highly recommend this place!! Mandy is awesome!!
Authentic diner.
Quiche and hash browns were great. Service awesome. Music was a blast.
The food is just like home. Bring cash they don't accept credit cards.
Good food but you may have.to sit next a seemingly homeless person
Sit at the counter and watch in amazement as the crew dances in this tiny kitchen to bring you fresh and delicious breakfast treats. Gotta try the grilled raspberry muffin - didn't know that was thing, but its a must have.
Staff were really nice, even when crazy foreigners like me got all excited about having exotic American food like a PB&J sandwich. The service was quick and the food really tasty. Considering going back tomorrow for breakfast.
We went to Porland on our honeymoon and got our last breakfast here. It's a tiny diner, so you may need to wait for a table and you may wait a bit longer than usual for food. Don't worry! It's worth it. Order a grilled muffin while you …
Excellent food, terrific service, loved the classic rock music playing in the background, we will return!
Awesome breakfast nook..service is awesome
Excellent food and service. We are from Ohio.
Very quaint and hip! We enjoyed our food, very good service, wonderful vibes!!!
We were visiting friends in Maine and stopped in here on the way to the airport. Loved the grilled raspberry muffin & tasty eggs. Husband had delicious French Toast and friend loved the spinach omelet. Most entrees $5-$8 and portions are huge. (Pancakes are indeed "pan" "cakes": A single pancake overflows the plate.) Be advised that the place is tiny with counter seating & a few small booths all in the same space as the kitchen. We had to wait a few minutes for our booth, and there was a short line of people waiting outside when we left, but service is fast so spaces turn over quickly. We were very pleased with the service, especially from a waitress in a tiara having a great time on her birthday. Friendly cook/owner/local celebrity even helped out with serving to get food on tables quickly and spoke with customers as she went by. Great little place for a solid breakfast.
Fantastic breakfast just like homemade. Quaint, staff was very nice, wouldn't recommend for large parties or kids. The hobo hashbrowns and french toast are waht I had and we're very good. Lotsa good enegy in this place and walked out full and refreshed.
They offered a muffin when we sat down, saying " what flavor would you like for your grilled muffin today" I very nievely assumed it was free since we hadn't even looked at the menu but they charged us for it. My omelet was also undercooked. The servers are very upbeat and attentive, but I can't say that I recommend eating here. There's lots of other good options in the area, I'd skip trying this place out.
Excellent food and service. I highly recommend the Hobo Hashbrowns.
Great breakfast joint. Great service.
One of my favorite breakfast spots anywhere. The grilled muffins are delicious and the rest of the menu is great. Every meal is an experience and the staff are always impressive in how they manage to tame the chaos of a morning rush in such a tight space.
Cash only! It's written everywhere, but it trips people up here all the time. Great little place for breakfast and lunch. Darla is generally there telling jokes and having a great time with her customers. Love it here!
The hobo hash was perfect, the grilled blueberry muffin was even better!
Classic diner atmosphere. Hostess (:with the mostess:) was very personable and cheery. My custom order was presented in a timely fashion to the T! The food was excellent, absolutely hit the spot. Highly recommended, as I will definitely return.
Classic no frills diner. The food, music, and service were all excellent. It's super small so a wait can be expected on weekends. I also didn't realize that the muffins were a big deal until I was already full so I'll have to go back for sure!
Fun atmosphere with excellent service. Delicious muffins.
A bit of a wait, but well worth it! Excellent breakfast food. Cash only!
Terrible food...burned toast, burned, soggy omelet that tasted like the grill needed to be cleaned. Staff didn't seem overly concerned about the quality of the food.
We arrived on Sunday morning just before a bunch of people assembled on the sidewalk. Great crustless quiche and salad. My companion got diner favorite eggs, hashbrowns & steak. I sampled it and it was delicious. We went for the ambiance which was busy with bouncy music.
Without a doubt, the most welcoming breakfast joint in town! Friendly waitress who felt our angst of ending our ladies weekend and returning to family life. She took our order and brought back a delicious grilled blueberry muffin. Upon realizing my mate was experiencing a medication reaction, our waitress boxed her meal, brought water and crackers and insisted we wait and rest. Their food is out of this world delicious and the atmosphere is warm and friendly to all. I, we and everyone I know will visit again and again!
Small cozy atmosphere with excellent food with reasonable prices and friendly conversation can't ask for a better place
A Portland staple! Great food always worth the wait!
I love the food and the selection was great. I was honestly surprised by the friendliness of the entire staff and I felt very welcomed. I’m definitely recommending this to my friends and family.
Great quick brunch place; cash only
Marcy's is my go-to breakfast place. I describe eating there as a cathartic experience almost every time. I love it so much, I almost don't want to tell you about it because it gets so busy during tourist season and weekends and holidays. Just remember to show up with your entire party, get on the list, and be ready to wait. Good for parties of 4 or less. It is a small place.
Seating is limited, plan on getting there early to secure a booth if you have a larger party, great atmosphere
Great food. Friendly staff. Long wait for food (both times I’ve been). Booths are tiny.
Been coming with my daughter for the last five years, from Cape Cod...I have nothing bad to say...we absolutely LOVE this place and the people who work there!!!
If you're looking for that local breakfast diner that we all have in our home state.... look no further. Breakfast was great! Severing size kicked my butt.
LOCAL DINER: great inventive food at great prices and amazing customer service... If you are from Portland. Remember this is the diner that prides itself on the time they yelled at a tourists baby.
Best breakfast I've had in the area and the usual wait is proof that others think the same. Don't be discouraged if they tell you it'll be an hour before you're seated because it's worth it. Go walk around and work up an appetite because you will not be leaving this place hungry. Note that it is CASH ONLY so plan accordingly.
Cozy neighborhood diner. The staff was nice the food wonderful and very inexpensive! Cash only so make sure you have it. Thanks Marcy' s staff for a great breakfast
Staff is spicy meals are cheap, come git it!
I'm addicted to the Hobo Hash. I always love the atmosphere, food, and conversation at Marcy's. A gem of a breakfast spot, worth the wait.
BEST OMELETTE EVER I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN!!!!! There was a bit of a wait but it's because theyre so popular and their food is to die for!!!!!!! Big time recommend!!!!!
We took seats by the grill and it was quite entertaining! Breakfast and a show. Diner is classic ambiance band food was delicious. Great staff.
Breakfast was delicious and the staff were nice.
I love this lady..Damn right..my place my rules. I remember when that baby kept crying. Yes please leave. I want to enjoy my food. Food is great..when you in Portland Maine. A place to go
Good food quick service
A small but boisterous little diner in the heart of Portland. Cash only, but well worth it. Staff is extremely quick, very friendly, and nice to talk to during a big breakfast.
Always a pleasure to eat here! Good food and even better people. :)
After paying $12 for what I considered to be a good breakfast sampler, I was severally disappointed by the quality of the meal I received. The toast is both burnt on the edges and too soggy in the middle, the eggs I ordered over easy were anything but over easy and the outer edges were ripe with that annoying membranous crust that forms when an egg spreads out way too far on the griddle. The "hash brown" was so bland and far from crispy it could have been straight out of a college dining hall. The bacon was soggy and also might as well have come out of the butt end of the breakfast rush at a college dining hall. The corn beef hash was admittedly okay and I can't complain about that. I will admit the breakfast sausage was both delicious and juicy but certainly is not enough to salvage an otherwise very poorly spent $12 for a meal.
Everything about this place is fantastic! Food staff and environment. Yes, it's worth the wait.
Nice staff but food was average and way over priced. Ordered a side of hash and was really surprised in the tiny amount and over cooked. Wasn't worth the wait.
I couldn't tell them enough how good the food was. With a five minute wait, the service was on point. All I got to say about the freshly baked and grilled muffins is delicious. The French toast was so good with real maple syrup drizzled all …
Always great service & food
So yummy. Homemade biscuits and gravy.
Triple indicated waiting times
Great food and service.
Awesome food, and a sweet women who brings back the home touch of a great meal and guess what? Sweet silence! Me and my friends come here all the time talking about how clean and polite she is.
Had the steak and eggs Was really good and cool environment Wait staff was awesome.
Food and service were great. Small eclectic diner experience so be prepared to wait a while during peak times unless you're a solo diner. Must try the grilled muffins (put maple syrup on top too)!
Awesome real American diner. The grilled muffins are FANTASTIC.
Good food, small seating area. Friendly environment. Had to ride around for 15 minutes looking for parking
You know how restaurants have free appetisers they offer you while you wait for your food? Well, this place isn't like that. Which is fine, except that you should know about it. Also be sure to specify that you would like your breakfast cooked, because our eggs, omelette, and bacon were under. Despite our best efforts trying to eat the food, they were rushing us out, so don't expect to enjoy yourself too much.
Love it, even bought stickers
Great service, amazing food, and genuine place! This place has been our go-to breakfast place for the last couple of months. Anything on the menu is worth the wait (usually about 20-25 min, with your full party. Unless you’re alone, you can take an open counter space if available). We definitely keep coming back for the hearty breakfast!! Make sure to follow them on Facebook for their daily breakfast specials!
Best breakfast in Portland!
Great personable service. Delicious food. Will definitely be eating here again
A classic example of a diner... just a little too small though. Many times I walked by and didn't go in because it was busy.
Excellent as always. I'd like to say it's bad to make the wait shorter.
Great food and service.Wouldn't go anywhere else for breakfast!!!#
Delicious and fast, Nice staff that treats everyone great!
Great staff, quick and real good food.
Steak and cheese on Texas toast is where it's at
Small comfy place. Decent price great food.
Awesome job on Hobo taters!
Purely amazing! My entire family enjoyed their meals with great staff, our waiter was excellent and on top of everything from straws to meals. Good prices, too. My family will be going back next week. Couldn’t be more satisfied with a restaurant.
My girlfriend and I went to go have breakfast this morning. Our waitress we felt was really rude. We complain to one of the male staff at first and as we were talking to him the said waitress looked at me and started laughing and smiling. The owner herself came down and sat at our table and ask this what was going on. We politely told her that we felt our waitress was being rude. So instead of talking to the waitress who offered to buy us a muffin to try to smooth things over told us have to leave the establishment. I feel this was a serious Injustice since it's our money that keeps her business and gives her a living and it pays to employees also. My girlfriend has been a costume in there since the mid-eighties when Massey herself owned it. And this is the same eating establishment that was on the news a while back about kicking a family out because of allowed kid especially since it was a baby.
Hobo hash browns, do yourself a favor. I've always really enjoyed the staff and the atmosphere.
We had some time to kill and were hungry one morning and found ourselves at Marcy's Diner. Small space great atmosphere and service... and of course the food was eggcellent.
We ordered everything! Mandy was an amazing server and had great recommendations and we loved her chicken salad wrap suggestion as well as the captain crunch French toast which could be the best I've ever had. Definitely check this place out for a great meal and friendly service. We were told it would be about 45 minutes to wait and it ended up being less than half of that and well worth the wait.
Funky & Friendly vidlbe with seriously good breakfast food
Grilled blueberry muffin was delicious!
Best cheap breakfast around! Great fun, good friends, real Portland. I love you Marcy's!
Love the energy and feel of Macy's. Great Staff, Solid Diner style food, owner on the front lines with the making your food. Try Macy's once you will go again. I know I will be back.
Breakfast is excellent... most have the pancakes they're delicious
Always awesome.
