REVIEWS OF Cole Farms Restaurant & Pub IN Maine

lindsay haas

Couldn't seat us for 25 minutes because they haven't invested the $15 in a high chair that matches their high top tables. No apology. Table was wet when we got there. She dropped off our kid's food and said she was sorry..."it's gonna be a long time" til the rest of the food comes. What? Cole slaw tasted off, sweet potato fries were a mixed batch of different kinds (like...some were scraped from the bottom of the fryer), cooked carrots were cold. Been coming here for years....I'm done. They care more about the way it looks than how happy you are. It took almost 1:45 for the full experience. Way too long. Cole Farms is no more. They might as well rename it because it's unrecognizable.

Katie Pollis

I was just served a burger so disgusting that even the bun was soggy and inedible. The "burger" itself was so thin it resembled a fast food patty. They comped the terrible burger, but did nothing else to correct it. I left hungry. Horrible experience.

Mark McDonald

Update improvement step backwards ..fave food/ beer gone..rustic charm gone,,resembles school cafeteria

Glen Pittman

Fried chicken and cupcakes extremely overcooked. Good service reasonably priced. Beer could be colder.

maryann

This restaurant has been a regular stop for decades. Always has delicious food, good service and great desserts. The BLT and turkey are my go to meals here.

Dean Barron

we had breakfast buffet all you can eat for $7.39 and I still feal full.

Lauri-Ann Moran

Great food and wonderful waitress

Caleb_bro_21 Spargue311

I reviewed this before the renovation when it was good then, but now it's very bad. The burgers are not homemade, they are frozen patties. Come on people if I wanted frozen patties I'd go to McDonalds. The menu is totally different, it's mostly pizza, and other than that it was very bland. They seated 3 partys before us that had the same number of people, and we were there longer. Then when we were seated we were in the most chaotic place in the restaurant. Not very impressed.

BEVERLY VOLLRATH

Food was great, they make a delicious Cole slaw, and the waitress was friendly and took the time to chat.

Dawson Otis

No longer a warm family restaurant, seems like a sandwich pub, with a focus in adult beverages, the nice dinners are gone

Linda Shute

First time visit since the renovation and we were very disappointed. Perhaps this is what it takes to remain successful, but we really miss the old menu. Pub food is everywhere. Cole's was always unique. I also wonder if old customers like us are not the target market. Another problem for us is we usually have 8+ in our party and a sign on the door says parties of more than 4-6 can not be accommodated. I am very sad.

Guy Keniston

Well, what can you say the renovation appears to have gone well. Having been a loyal customer for years it was great to see so many familiar faces still on staff .But, there is a problem the new menu is one you would expect to see in the bar district of Portland"s Old Port. The powers at be have lost sight of their client tell which is the 65 and older folks. I had the pizza today because nothing else appealed to me. Tried to get the Greek style without the onion. Sorry, no deletions, so I ordered the cheese pizza. The sauce and the cheese were blended together the crust was thin and tough. Why was there a ball of ricotta with some spices in the center of the pie? If this is how you want to market your new selections at least make it good. I won't be back until the menu changes. I rated this five stars at first so the right people would read my review and hopefully change soon.

Julie R

I was only here once before rennovation. I dont have expectations based on history or the old menu. I think the changes are brilliant. It is beautiful, comfortable, you can get great beer, great pizza, and great service. I recommend wholly.

Justin Gilson

Pretty good place

Lisa Touch

Try the breakfast! Hash, beans, and breakfast buffet are nice comfy local eats.

josh b

Good food, prices and friendly wait staff. Bakery items looked appetizing as well

Gen BigMac

Pretty extensive menu with value priced specials

Mark Chapman

You changed the menu that we know and love. No cob salad , home cooked dinners with your famous mashed potatoes and gravy. Probably won't be back. Will go up to Lewiston to the Governor's.

Donald Bailey

The upgrade is amazing and the food was great!

Tracy Bennett Bennett

Fried clam special, Wicked Good, lol! Nice New bar area also. Didn't except to see my old friend Judy bartending, second job! You go girl!

Vimal Shah

Ordered a Greek pizza which was on greasy side so not the best. Service was good and we tried a tiramisu dessert which was very good.

Karen Smith

We didn't bother staying because every dinner was fried and the old classics were gone

John Cormier

Service, Atmosphere, Food was all good. Had grilled meatloaf sandwich with sweet potatoe fries and coffee. Prices were reasonable and portions were excellent. Didn't try the pub.

Brenda Heath

We waited over a half hour to get in. It was recently remodeled. I had always heard about their amazing food so wanted to try it. It was not a very big menu...no home cooked meals but more like quick cooked food. Would not go back again.

Edward Lyons

Burger was Cold & pricey for what is is, service was great. Renovation looks good.

Karyn LaBelle

Giving you only a 2 star and that's because of our Waitress, she was great!! Food wasn't like it use to be. When she gave us the menu I thought it was the drink menu...a two sided piece of cardboard! Where's all the yummy home cooked meals? Where's the chicken PIE? Also...a lot of hostility between the staff, you forget with the new design we can see and hear it all, not good at all people!! One cook actually came out asking who was on tonight, as the girl was telling him names, he walked off and said I don't want being yelled at tonight!! One young man, with kinda long hair in front, kept flipping his hair out of his eyes. No big deal, right??...but he was standing over 3 trays of food waiting to be served! So you have the great new look but you lost a whole lot of "everything" along the way...Bye, Bye Cole Farms

Gary J. Winthorp

Got my plate that was basically bones. I ordered the bones and expected it what I didn't expect was the hostility from the works.

anne edwards

Great place to eat at....plus there is no Mass in my kitchen thank you Cole Farms restaurant for a great dinner I and Kevin love it

Rhonda Clukey

Love that they have hand cut fries.

Joshua Oblon

Fast and friendly service, food is fresh and doesn’t taste processed. Very nice place!

Laurie Miles

long wait, cold food, poor service. Been coming here 45 years. Wont be back!

Sandy Keith

I have been going to Cole Farms for many years-and now see nothing but cost saving cuts that are affecting everything from food, to service, to reputation. ---- portion sizes-cut in half ----- tonight entire meal served on plastic ----- waitress forgot 2 things from our order and acted like "oh well, no big deal" ---- prices have gone up the same time everything else has-gone down ------ fried foods all taste the same, should change the frying oil on occasion. ------- no pride taken by staff in doing a good job ------ have seen staff in torn clothing with holes serving the food. ------ Seems like now an extra charge is added for everything. Bring back the good down home food and service.

John Carll

Super affordable, a local favorite of mine. The breakfast buffet and the build your own burger options are great on a budget.

Norman K Dunn

The food and service were top notch!

Arlene Rousseau

We sat waiting for a half hour, or more they let others go ahead of us,people that came in after us. I told them and left. Sorry don't cut it.

Christina Bigelow

Meals were good. Waitress was very attentive. Many changes have been made to the interior, very nice updates, but definitely not the Cole Farms you grew up with! Menu is considerably smaller.

Jenny MacArthur

Such a wonderful spot with really delicious food

Robert Babb

My Wife, Daughter Son in Law and I went on Mothers day. It was about a 30 minute wait, we requested a high top table, instead we got a booth, the table is small for 4 people. We got seated and did not see a beer menu on the table, the server brought one to use. We ordered our drinks, the server came by to say a new server would be taking care of us. We ordered our meals, fried haddock, fried haddock with scallops, open face chicken sandwich and a special, top sirloin. We got 3 of 4 drinks and waited for 10 minutes after we told the server to check on it. The server seemed to be able to do 1 thing at a time. The meals came to us all at the same time, the cole slaw looked old, it was served in a small cup and had a very sweet dressing, it was not unpleasant just different but way over dressed, when I was done I had a 1/4 of the cup filled with the dressing. The fish was done well, fairly crispy and flaky. The scallops were barely cooked, good thing I like them that way but it was a mistake I'm sure. The tarter sauce served was some sort of garlic laced salad dressing, that took 5 minutes to figure out and get replaced. Our Daughters dish came without the vegetable that was ordered, the potatoes were very dry, the open faced chicken sandwich was dry with very little gravy. The rolls were tough, and that is because they get warmed in a microwave. This really was a comedy of error. Add to the fact we were seated beside the kitchen and we could see a man with a full beard wearing a baseball style hat with no barrier to cover his facial hair and some drama between the kitchen and a young server who obviously p o at someone as she came out from the window in the kitchen saying "I put in the order and can prove it" grabbed her ticket off the rail and stomped off in a huff. It was fairly entertaining but it was a one and done for us.

Luc Collette

New look, old food

Crystal Hotham

Horrible service, sign said seat yourself all the open tables were dirty, the waitress never gave us silverware. She was busy chatting with Co workers. Price for the quality of food is way too expensive. Was a better place when I was a child. Their burgers are not fresh but frozen, that came out of the HR's own mouth when I complained. I would give it no stars. Terrible don't waste your money.

Gary McGrane

Great service even during the busiest of times.

Andrea

My family and I love to dine at Cole Farms. I usually get coconut shrimp which is delicious and the taco salad is also very good.

Donna Kempton

Well another family restaurant bites the dust. Like Vallees and Village Cafe, now Cole Farms. Their menu is absolutely terrible, gone from home cooked meals to pub food. We ordered the haddock and scallops, out of both, also out of chicken wings and clam cakes. That left us with burgers or pizza. Whoopeee. The owner had no reason to re-open, as the kitchen staff is totally not fit to cook food. Food not hot, not cooked properly, the pizza sauce was gross. The double burger, one was cooked beyond medium, the other not cooked at all. The table next to us sent back some of their food, was cold came back burned. French fries cold 3 times they were sent back. We felt so bad for the waitresses, they were trying so hard to please the patrons, but the inept kitchen could get nothing right. Our waitress talked to the manager and comped our meal. Which was very nice, as we were very dissatisfied with the food, not the waitress, she was great and tried to keep things positive. I don't know if we will try it in the future, not many homey meals on the menu and I am not into pub fare. Anyone hoping it is the old Cole Farms will be very disappointed. Hopefully Mr. Pollard will get some better help in the kitchen and make the dining experience better than it was tonight.

Davey W

Home cooked meals are fantastic, very good service. Deserts are to die for lol.

Lee Copeland

Very old fashioned. Service was good. Food was good and affordable. Bummed that breakfast is only served until 10:30.

Imaginging ME

I ordered the Chicken Filet sandwich, fried. It’s served with French fries. My fiancé had chicken fingers with fries and the veggie of the day - roasted corn on the cob. It also came with mashed potatoes by accident (and they were a let down). My sandwich was amazing and HUGE. Fries were very good. His finger dinner portion was good and the chicken gravy was a huge improvement! The bread (pre-meal rolls and a brioche bun for my sandwich) were amazing! Service was friendly and our food came out very fast and piping hot. On a second trip, I had a cheeseburger and I LOVED it ( reminiscent of the original burgers). The onion petals were delish - like the original onion rings but cut differently. This isn’t your grandma’s Cole Farms. The new interior is rustic and much more “farm” than the original decor. There’s no trace of the former restaurant, except for a few familiar faces and the bar area (with a fresh coat of paint). If you’re expecting the same old Cole Farms, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re open to new things, give this place a chance.

May 5th. Love the rennovation. What a great change, keeping bits and pieces of the old. The server who waited on us was attentive and did all she could to take care of our party. Sad to say that night the kitchen was in disarray. We were sitting near the pass through from the kitchen so this was direct observation. Not only was our order delayed, about twenty five minutes, but we saw at least six orders that were incomplete or incorrect. The wait staff had to ask for parts of orders multiple times or return items that were wrong. When our food arrived the order was complete. Two of the orders were identical but the cook on them was completely different. One was very over done. The other was well cooked. The piece of fish on one was very thin and not comparable to the other order in amount. After about 15 minutes of the above mentioned struggle, the chef came out and took charge. Within minutes things were set to rights. Cole's has been a regular part of our families eating choices. We will give this another try to see if this was just a bad night. Also, from the standpoint of a customer whose family has loved Coles,w redisgned the menu strayed to far from the roots of the establishment. One last thing, your computer sites desperately need updating. Best wishes on the relauch of a Maine favorite. Leslie McAllister.

Not as Good as it used to be but Decent that I will go back in the Future

Amanda Fogg

Beautiful new place! Much smaller menu than before the renovation, also much more expensive now. Food was great and great portion sizes!

Herb Speck

Ruebens and burgers are generally safe for me as I would rather eat at home as I cant control what I cant see! Unfortunately my last Reuben was fatty and disappointing. I am no longer (in general) a fan of chips, french fries, fried etc.... because of canola and other oils where health concerns are on the news as having a variety of potential health concerns. Mice trained to perform various tasks reportedly, after eating canola oil, failed to be able to complete their tasks, indicating a brain health issue. I avoid fried food! Dinners usually come with chips or fries, but I ask for a baked potato as able!

Don Beal

After being there for over an hour we still did not have our food. When it finally did come it was ice cold. Half of my prime rib was fat, my wife's grilled chicken was dry and cold, my brother in laws hot chicken sandwich was actually a cold chicken sandwich. There were lots of people waiting but the tables were only at 60% occupancy on a Friday night. This is 3 times in a row that we were dissatisfied with this place. Been going here for 40 years but looks like I have had my last meal here. Don't waste your time or money. Use to be a good value but those days are gone.

Joseph Thompson

Opening day, all new help, ran out of mashed potatoes.very slow service. Was There almost 3 hours. Chicken tenders were good but without mashed potatoes was different. Will go back when not so busy

Jeanna Bussiere

Great restaurant. A must stop when visiting Maine. Great for families as a great variety of foods for everyone.

French Wall

Miss the old place and iconic diner food and feel. Hard to fathom why changes made. No longer a destination eatery.

T wayne

Prime rib. 10.99 can't complain. Good size.

I was hesitant to visit this restaurant after reading some recent reviews. After visiting I think people need to chill.... I visited with my Wife and 2.5 year old daughter. We received a number to wait, and waited in an amazing space. Plenty of stools, chairs etc to sit in and visit with each other until a table was ready. It gave us plenty of time to drool over the deserts in the case. Our number was called maybe 10 min later, we were seated in a very comfortable booth. I thought they did a great job with the decor. It really did feel like a family environment. The waitress we had was super nice. I appreciated the placement and crayons provided for my little one to play with while the food was ordered. I loved all the kids menu options. Something for almost any picky eater. I thought the foot tasted great! It arrived in a very timely manner. The only thing I would suggest is a second person at the podium welcoming guests and seating them. It is a very busy restaurant, with a steady stream of guests. Also the person at the podium is responsible to assist guest with deserts at the desert counter. If they added a second person I think it would really help the person that was there. The person that was there did her job great, but she was definitely being pulled in several directions at once. I will also admit it was very confusing how and who you ordered deserts from, from the desert counter.

james g

We had the double lobster rolls , fried Haddock and the lobster & scallop pie. All were delicious and ample sizes. The scallops had great flavor . The staff was awesome.

Jessica James

I like the new bar area and the desserts looked yummy. Food was fair but nothing to get excited about.

Tom Delisle

Very good food great place to meet friends

Andrew Edson

Nice atmosphere. The service was quick and the food was very good.

J. Bacher

We stopped for lunch here and were very happy with our choice. The property was clean and in good condition. The staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. The food was delicious. The portions were large, and the prices were very good. This is not a cheap place to eat, but it is not expensive either. I think it is an excellent value for the price. I had a meal of baked scallops, that cost less than I would have to pay for the same number of scallops at the market in Washington state. Cole Farms is a good place to stop for a very good meal.

Bruce Fournier

Food was just ok, nothing special. Service was slow , do not really act like they care just doing a job.

Robert Farrington

Pretty good service

John Bussiere

The table in the blounge were very unstable. The dinner rolls were delicious I order the pizza it was a little on the Soggy side the sauce was a little too sweet I thought. My wife had the chicken sandwich grilled the roll was dry.no flavor.

Susan Carrier

Cole Farms its a local, family owned place that had been a wonderful family place to eat for decades, long before i lived in Maine! The food is regular American fare, fried seafood, hot dogs, burgers, salads. Their homemade salad around are great. I have eaten the soup many times over the years, and have never had a bad meal. The waitstaff are local people and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Deb Wadlin

Not the same as the Cole Farm was, menu lacking, service poor, seatting terrible, obviously do not want customers over 50 and not for seniors anymore. Been going there over 40 years. Will never go back. Rate -10

Debora Willard

Great place to gather to eat! However cut back not the salt, vinaigrette dressing and hot spices or hot sauce on your Taco Salad! It was good til I reached the center! Then it gave me the SHIVER ME TIMBERS SHIVER! Couldn't finish it there. I had to take it home to attempt to weaken it down with sour cream.

John B. D'Ambrosio

Love the food and service.

N

Waitress Lillian spilled a whole glass of water on my lap! After giving me a pile of napkins to clean myself up she ignored the fact that I waited for my food uncomfortably drenched. Use to love coming here with the family. Comfort food was always a pleaser. Now with the renovation prices have been increased and food quality had decreased. They changed alot and I dont think it was for the good! Next time, well, there wont be a next time!

KATHIE Noel

Loved every bit.

Wayne Heroux

Went there with my family tonight everything was fine service was good everybody is food for the six of us which great one problem I had to fish and chips Fishers extremely dry I tried eating as much as I could I gave my wife a bite to make sure I wasn't imagining it she said it was very dry also I told the waiter he said sorry about that and dropped it. Charged us $100 and he was on his way with his $25 tip without even saying hey I'll take the coffee off your bill or anything I hope the owner would have treated it differently other than that the good place.

Nate McNally

The best advice to anyone is to forget what Cole Farms used to be. Honestly, their food was mediocre at best but it had been a staple in the community. One of my favorites was the open faced sandwich; I was happy to see it on the new menu. I ordered it during a recent visit and was bummed when it came out. It is NOT the same as before, however, it was delicious. The bread, gravy and mashed potatoes were better quality and tasted excellent. The portion was smaller but honestly adequate for a meal. Good value at only $10... The waitresses are all really trying but being met with a lot of push back; its evident. We have been back three times since the re-open and will continue to visit. Each time service seems to be improving. My only "real" complaint is that the chicken salad sandwich is no longer offered. By far my favorite and most missed item on the menu.

Amarie Fec

It seems this place is a hit or miss. My first time here, was absolutely wonderful. Sat at the bar, had couple beers & ordered food. Staff was pleasant and the hot chicken sandwich was delicious. Times after that though, staff almost seemed lost & food was okay.

Mary Turlo

I made my first and last visit to this place on Saturday. After waiting 20 minutes for a table, we were seated in an area that had several empty tables. Our waitress came out to take our drink order and that is where the nightmare started. First she seemed very irritated with our drink order. I didn't think chocolate milk, Mt. Dew and a water with no lemon was that difficult. I really threw a monkey wrench in when I asked for the daily specials. She pointed behind me and told me they are on the board. The food isn't much better than the service. After spending the most uncomfortable 45 minutes at the table I finally walked out and told myself "never again." Save your money, your time and go someplace worth your business.

Cody Saxon

The food was over priced and my waitress brought back the wrong drink twice I won't be going back

Bryan Bailey

Food was very reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Wasnt exactly anything truly memorable, but I expected that due to the out-of-the-way location.

kristin millette

Went in for breakfast during a weekend stay in the area. The wait was minimal the hostess and waitress were both very friendly. Food was great, all home-cooked to order! Our table ordered from both the menu and the buffet and we were all pleased with everything. Coffee was fresh and hot and free which was nice. Restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. Definitely planning to return for lunch/dinner next trip up. Has that hometown feel we were looking for.

Chris Plath

Absolutely loved the steak and cheese. Fries were perfect as well.

Kathleen Look

Very disappointed. The menu shrunk quite a bit. The comfort food we look forward to was mostly gone. Portion size was small. Got about 8 french fries. Waitress forgot my salad and brought me diet soda yuk. Felt like I had to keep bothering her for her mistakes.

Mark Douglas

I ate there on 7/10/19 , I ordered the GF wings and a house salad no croutons, I talked in depth with the waitress about celiac disease, After I ate , I go check the dogs in the camper , I started to walk back to the Restaurant, when I started throwing up in front of others coming in to eat. I came back in told the waitress what happen, she replied " I am sorry I did not tell the cook to cook them GF". I went back to the camper leaving my family to finish what will be their last meal there quietly. When they returned I asked if they took the wings and salad off the bill ? ,They replied no, I was too sick to go back in and personally thank the waitress. So Thank You, Mark

Bonita Brown

Awesome place in Gray. Looking forward to the new look in March.

PGbear Bear

The Cole Farms I have know for 55 years is GONE. Service was terrible, food was even worse.... Prices so high for poor quality food.

Nick Anderson

Disappointed they no longer serve breakfast...

Hannah Martin

the remodel looks great, it definitely draws you in. when you first read the menu you feel this will be delicous food with a homecooked atmosphere. instead we got unseasoned chicken, frozen burger patties, and spinach artichoke dip that was just spinach and cheese. had high expectations because we heard the food was so great, so the remodel sounded promising. waitress was amazing and comped our meal when we shared our dissatisfaction with the food. giving 3 stars because the chicken tenders, and fried mushrooms were pretty goodm, and our waitress was very nice.

David Toole

When they made it a pub type restaurant they took a lot of geat old time favorites off the menu. No wears, near the same, quality. Would not go back.

Jason Burke

Good food, good atmosphere

John Brownlee

We eat here every time we pass thru Grey - always have a great meal

April Miles

Loved the food and atmosphere! The three of us were all totally happy with our meals, the pulled pork and burgers were just perfect! Highly recommend!

Kimberly Allie

Always topo Notch!!! Great food, service & atmosphere!!!

Adrienne

I just enjoyed a spinach salad for lunch here and iced coffee. The food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive.

gojiracon4576

People need to get off their high horse with the reopening the food is quality now can’t dish it out like before the food they were serving before was mostly frozen and microwaved now it’s all made there the staff are still figuring out the new menu while hundreds come in at a time you need to give it a chance and stop being so negative on the first bit of the opening there is going to be mistakes

Michael Lefay

Chose this restaurant for lunch on recommendation of a local resident who recommended their pot pie and custard pie. Did not have those however the food that we did have was very good. Meatloaf was good and came with choice of sides. Flatbread pizza was a nice light lunch item. Fish sandwich was a large piece of haddock with a light crust served with chips or fries for slight up charge. Large establishment good family atmosphere and run efficiently.

Donna Mcdougall

Horrible service.. cold dried out food.. would give it a half star if it was possible..

Zachary Hatch

I had the brick oven pizza. The middle The crust was super undercooked in the middle of the pizza. This pizza dough seemed more like regular bread dough. Not sure if it was undercooked. A more traditional pizza dough would make this pizza the best in the area.

Laurie Barnett

Had to be the most worst meal EVER!. Had Fried Haddock dinner which was bone dry...my boyfriend had ordered the Prime Rib medium which was way over cooked & their famous cole slaw, a rabbitt wouldn't even eat, absolutely no dressing added! Never again!... If possible I would give NO STARS!!

Bruce Foster

A poor choice of food.it was much better in the past with a much better selection

Christen

Just reopened after remodel. The portions were smaller and my husband's food was cold. Service was great as always. Will come back and visit again once they get back into the swing of things...

Alik Peters

Wouldn't even give a star if I could. Was just there. Hungry and not wanting to cook at home because it's hot. Ordered the all american burger. They were gonna charge me for the fresh red onion I wanted on it. I said no thank you. First red flag! When I got the burger, the lettuce was literally black and rotting on it!!!! And the french fries were warmish and white. No crispness to them at all!!! The bartendar/waiter asked if I wanted them to redo it!!?? It is so disappointing to see a place that is a landmark here in Gray just reopen, and the food is terrible!!! So many people were excited for a new and improved Cole Farms, but that did not happen

julian Butler

This used to be a great place for a family meal and 2 and a half years ago I rated this restaurant 5 stars. After this renovation their menu has gone downhill and the food we did have was, well not really sure what the lobster was actually. Only giving 2 stars because the pizza and beer looked decent but that's not what Cole Farms used to be sadly.

Nancy Marin

Good food,needed more help.

Jan Mills

My husband and I sat at the bar in the Pub. We had Lobster/Scallop Pie and Lobster Parmesan Flatbread. The food was fantastic and Myk the bartender was wonderful. Great evening!!!

jean-marie bussolari

Great place to grab food. They even have a great bakery, that's new. Must be doing something right because they've been open since 1952

Stephen Betters

Great food for a very reasonable price. The staff were very attentive to the needs of that boisterous crowd I was with. Weren't rushed and all had a great time.

John Stults

The breakfast on the weekends is awesome! Lori you are the best and we love ya

Abbigayle Curry

Absolutely terrible since they reopened! Service was horrible, we wanted wings but waiting 20 minutes to tell us they were all out and then made us pay for the other appetizer that we had to get instead. Salad looked old and was bland the spinach and artichoke dip was DISGUSTING! Tasted spoiled. My boyfriend got the All American burger and it was cold and the fries were still frozen in the middle. I got the chicken open face sandwich and the chicken was completely dry and they barely put any gravy. For 4 people almost $80!!!!! RIDICULOUS! Will not be back again! Oh and they don’t do breakfast anymore! Please save your money and go somewhere else!

Erica Harnden

I don’t even want to give 1 star.. food was awful service was awful.. not the cole farms it used to be..

John Moore

They've really fixed the place up

Eric Lane

Disappointed after showing up for breakfast to find out it no longer serves breakfast, only a small bakery. I checked out the new lunch/dinner menu and it no longer appeals to me or my family. Loved the breakfast buffet. I guess they are catering to a different crowd now. Will not be back.

Marta Gaines

Just make sure your Caesar dressing isn't Italian dressing before you start eating it.

Reegan Burke

I have been going here for years, and have never had a bad meal, the service is fast and the people are nice, it feels like a mom and pop resteraunt!

Karen Anderson

You need to educated your bartenders on how to make drinks. The guy you threw on was great and nothing against him at all. He has never bartended in his life n said he has been w/ you since last june....and u threw him on to cover shifts knowing he wasn't educated?...knowing how embarrassed he must have felt, I left him an outstanding tip for the little service he provided me.

Paul Landry

Always loved Cole Farms. Today I had the whole belly clams. They were delicious and the portion size was large. I love the renovations, the place looks fresh and welcoming. The service was fast and friendly.

Jillianne Valeriani

I was not impressed by this new remodel. I tried going with my 5 year old and I would no longer qualify Cole's as a family friendly restaurant. The kids meals are just too pricey for the amount of food given, no more kids place mats or crayons and it took awhile to get my server's attention on multiple occasions. We ordered an appetizer and before we could even eat the 4 mozzarella pieces our dinner was being rushed out. They also served the blueberry crisp cold, from the fridge. I had to wait over 5 minutes to get my server's attention before asking if it was overlooked to be warmed and apparently, nope. They do not warm it up. Like others have said, the pizza was good and the beer was flowing over by the bar, but we already have a few pizza and beer/breweries in town and don't need another one. We won't be back as a family. It is definitely appealing to a different audience, no longer the place to go for family celebrations.

David Baucom

This has got to be the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to. We ordered the fried haddock and fires to go. We went to the bar for a drink while we waited for our food. The bar tender couldn't even pour a beer correctly also there was nats everywhere it was nasty. They were all over the bar glasses, A1 sauce bottles and bar top. When we got our food the haddock tasted like it was previously frozen and the fries were soggy and stale. How can you mess up haddock? This place needs a new manager or owner. It is horrible! We will not be returning and we will be calling the health department.

Moe Hersom

Remodel looks great. Nice fresh look. Food was good, the place was packed which was nice to see. Wait was not bad considering how busy they were. The menu was different but there was plenty of variety. Really nice to see this iconic place rocking again.

Brenda Cormier

Lunch today was fantastic. Large portion, very tasty, quick service. The new look is so clean and inviting. Exceptional service. If you haven't been since the restaurant was remodeled you owe it to yourself to check it out. Amazing chef! Great variety of food. Healthy choices as well as great tasting pizza, burger and fries.

Jack Richman

Good foox, good prices, nice staff

Lynda Murphy

This was always our “ Go to” place for home cooked meals. New menu has dropped baked haddock, cocoanut shrimp- increased prices. Nightly specials not there. The wait long at 8pm Saturday night! Staff flustered. Looks like your makeover will lead to your demise as the favored local place, except for liquor. Hope it pays your bills! We will miss Cole Farms- you lost our weekly business

Brian Hilton

Nice atmosphere and good food.

Ray Shapiro

We had a relaxed dinner at in the newly renovated dining room. The place definitely gets busy on Saturday night.

Timothy Ryan

Meh... They messed my order up. Seemed very unorganized. The food wasn't horrible..but I wont be back.

Jeff Comeau

The waiter we had was terrible he was all over the place and it took him 30 minutes to take or order. I got a burger that I was asked how I wanted it cooked "medium well" and when it came out the patty looked like something you would get on a mcdouble!! How can you cook that to order? It's too bad, but I don't think I'll be going back there.

Tim Sawyer

Great old fashioned simple food. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly. They often have specials as well at lower prices that are still very filling and delicious, just had the beef pot pie a couple weeks ago and it was amazing!

Debra Timberlake

My pastrami sandwich was absolutely delicious...

Diane Brown

The first thing was I placed a takeout order and didn't received all the food We ordered. We have been getting clamcakes for years. After the remodel the clamcakes were gross tasting. 30 dollars in food we didn't eat what a waiste of money.

Kelly Stokes

Long wait to be seated.

Tracy Kratzer

Food was good, but a bit pricey for breakfast. Bacon was excellent. We thought the waitress had forgotten us as it took awhile for her to come take our order. Took along while to get our check.

Fred Brusseau

We had our fears about what Cole Farms would be after the recent renovations, but they are getting their act together after the turbulent opening. The atmosphere is still comfortable and friendly. The menu seems to be turning into a good blend of home-cooked and pub-style. Had the lobster roll special today and the margarita pizza - both were excellent.

Heather Weborg

Great food at fair prices and the customer service is excellent! The only thing missing is takeout!

Ron Sargent

Wow, a shadow of it's former self. My favorite home fries are now like everyone else's too.

Vallarie Bakker

Food was decent exceot dessert pie crust was very raw

Jessica Beaulieu

Looks great after the renovation. We all had some yummy seafood!

Paige Murdock

This has been a family favorite for over 30 years. Sadly since renovations, the menu has changed, eliminating so many favorites. Although looking fresh and updated, we are so disappointed with the minimal menu now. It's truly not the same.

John Trufant

Had clam cakes and didn't taste much clam ,it was cold fries was cold don't think I will return.not very good.

candi leonard

My daughter an I stopped for a quick breakfast, The breakfast sandwich was super yummy, nice girls that serviced us. Can't wait to go back.

Jeff Warren

The service was excellent the food was good and large portions.

Just went to Cole Farms. Had a really bad experience there. The food was plain, nothing to write home about. It’s a decent price for what you get I guess. But the waitress we had was pretty awful. She got my guests order wrong and charged her for a side of each item that came with her messed up order she didn’t want instead. The sides came almost to the same price as the main meal so what’s the point? She didn’t attend to us the whole time. She refilled my empty cup of coffee once and never checked on us aside from that. There was only 3 customers in the diner so it wasn’t busy... this was just a really horrible experience overall and we definitely won’t be going back. The one star review is based on our severe displeasure in the waitress that assisted us.

Brenda Fecteau

They don't treat employees fairly, my son got a job there ,so far worked one day and boss called 2nd day said wasn't needed, 3rd day rode bike there 45 minutes only to find out wasn't needed again didn't bother to call on day 3, either they want the help or they don't ,what's up with that, I mean really , not right , can't do a decent work schedule right

Darlene Reynolds

Should have left it the way it was, renovations are a joke, food wasn’t good, less on the menu, two tables by us both complained about the food. Have been going there for 20 + years, will not be back.

Rudolph Ahlquist

Just went back after remodle. Wow, about her longtime great restaurant making changes and going down hill. The chicken fingers were a little to well done, the gravey was yellow like soup tasted bad and not hot, the mashed potatoes really. Then the asparagus that was forgot and brought late and burned, then the bill did not have them on it, Good but then she brought a new bill 5 minutes later with them on it, what! I'm so sorry this is what I waiter for. Goodbye Cole Farms.

Kate Savidge

My husband and I have always loved Cole Farms Restaurant for their delicious foods at reasonable prices.

Cole Farms was recently renovated. Long overdue, but I went today for lunch and what a great makeover. New booths and tables, fresh paint. New layout. Clean. Modern rustic feel? The dining area is now inviting for all ages. The pizza was so good, thin & crispy, and fresh ingredients. I enjoyed being able to have a hard cider in the dining area. In the past I’ve only liked sitting in the bar area, but I like it all now. I am excited to return with my girlfriends for lunch in a few weeks.

No Chicken in a basket anymore. Such a sad day. This was the most important stop on our camping trip in Maine. Need to find a new favorite place to eat.

Jennifer Wentworth

Either hit or miss with food an most staff r rude there

Melissa Haskell

FYI: They no longer serve breakfast.

Debby Littlefield

The chicken cranberry salad rollup I had was great along with tge sweet potato fries

Drake Striker

They hired me there and started me off working tuesdays, fridays and saturdays. But when it came time to work the next two days, they ghosted me and quietly fired me. With their already low ratings, it won't be long before they close for good. It will be a beautiful day when they do.

Samantha Baker

Very good service. Wonderful staff and delicious food

Heh Heh

Would not recommend, it takes a long time to get your food, I ordered chicken tenders and French fries and my chicken was chewy and my fries were flavorless.

Timothy Walter

Awesome place to go. Great service and food.

Mike Yanok

Good food, great service, fun and easy place to dine

Roxanne Gagne

The food and service was very good. I like the renovations and especially like Thompson's bakery is in there lobby...we don't have to go to New Gloucester to get their delicious donuts.

Kevin Prevost

Well, there goes another good place to eat!

Andrew Collins

It’s true that Cole Farms Restaurant and Pub has been around since the 50s but this past weekend was my first experience there. The food is decent and atmosphere pleasant. You’ve got the option to dine in the restaurant or bar (depending on your preference and whether or not there’s a ball game on). I had the pub burger with fries. While in ordered it medium-well, it was barely cooked to a medium temperature. Having said that, I didn’t bother sending it back because the flavor was phenomenal and the bacon cooked crisp, the way I like it. The fries weren’t anything extraordinary (typical frozen, crinkle fries) but they hit the spot. My wife ordered the open chicken sandwich, a favorite of hers since she first started visiting the place off and on in the 90s. While they were out of white meat, the dark cuts did not disappoint and that was a big concern of hers as she really doesn’t care for white meat. She had gravy-covered French fries, which I assume that she liked because they disappeared quickly from her plate. Although there was a bit of a wait to get a table there, the wait staff was courteous and we left full and with smiles on our faces.

Lisa Featherson

Food and services was not like it was before they remodeled. Food was cold & server Mike only came to our table a couple of times. Needed refills on drinks never got them, had to ask for rolls and was told we would get them when he was done checking on everyone else. Didn't get my salad I changed for. They forgot our fries that come with the sea food combo. Had to ask for them. We will not be returning.

susan caron

Service was great. Food was very dissappointing. My husband ordered prime rib, medium. It was barely warm to the touch when delivered to the table. It was returned only to have another delivered again barely warm. Returned again with request for it to be warmed on the grill. Once returned back, it was better but by then fries and vegetables had all been eaten. He was then given a free dessert. Took rasberry turnover. Rated 1. This turnover was at least 2 to 3 days old. Soft and almost soggy. Yuk! In no hurry to return. :(

Just went to cole farms yesterday, the waiter talked too fast and you couldn't understand her. I'm gluten free and yes there was options for me but only a couple and the only dessert that was gluten free was Ice cream. I don't even think my waiter knew what gluten was she said grape nut was ok for gluten free when it is not (after a quick Google), luckily no one was injured. On the menu it says make your own sundae but they literally only have a few toppings for a sundae and they make it for you which is sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whip cream. They don't have hot fudge for sundae, which I thought was strange why would they put "make your own sundae" without hot fudge on their menu when they barely have any toppings. 2 people of my party wanted blueberry pie which was out after we ordered it so the waiter wasn't informed until she was looking for it. Everything was overpriced for the quality. I guess my group has been going there for a very long time and they used to have way more options for gluten free including Indian pudding and they used to just have a bigger menu. My biggest concern was the styrofoam container I received at the end. You do realize they're banned in 2020 right? We live in the most progressive state yet there are still people serving styrofoam? You might get in trouble if you don't change this. It doesn't break down, you can't microwave it, it's bad for storage and it's bad for the environment. I would seriously recommend you get more gluten-free and dairy-free options on your menu or you might have more people complaining about that. My party was disappointed we won't be coming back. Clearly the renovation did nothing to its management.

Food was average, ok for a quick lunch. Staff was very friendly. Food was served very, very fast. I ordered the taco bowl and it was extremely salty. Prob will stop in again.
