I've been going to Chia Pet (our moniker) for years because it is reliably always good classic Chinese cuisine. Service is always also reliably good. The soups are good, love the hot and sour, and they have a brown rice option which is always cooked just right. Nothing bad to say about Chia Pet!

I hadn't been to Chia Sen in almost a decade, since I used to get take out from them all the time when I worked across the street. My girlfriend, who had heard me talk about them in glowing terms many times, took me there today for an early birthday dinner. The restaurant was clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The food was GREAT and they are still the only place with a hot and sour soup that I like. Appetizers came fast but the main entrees did take a while... though not nearly long enough to reduce the score in any way from the full 5 star experience it was. I'm really glad that Chia Sen is still as amazing as I remembered, and though I rarely find myself in Scarborough anymore I will make a point to stop by more often.

The food was okay, but overpriced for the lunch portion size. My daughter's "teriyaki beef kid's meal" was supposed to come with veggies, rice and ice cream, but they brought her four teriyaki sticks around an open flame, no sides. She's four years old! My sister's soy pork was impressive in texture if unremarkable in flavor. The service, however, is where they really lost points. The waiter came and asked for our drink orders, but before we could respond, he said he'd be right back and then took off for ten minutes. We ordered our drinks.and meals when he finally came back, and the food and beverages arrived in a reasonably timely manner, but after finishing our meal, waiting first patiently and then impatiently, we finally had to flag down another server to get our check. I never tip the minimum 15%, always at least 20% rounded up to the nearest whole dollar, but I couldn't justify giving this gentleman a penny more than 15%. Meanwhile my very well-behaved 9 month old had wet himself, and I had to take him outside and change him in the trunk of my car, because the bathrooms have no changing stations. We won't be back.

The gluten free spicy sesame chicken is not GF as it is deep fried in the oil that gluten containing foods are. It's marked on the menu as GF! The chicken was little pieces so was a bit overcooked and chewy. It wasn't at all spicy and was on a bed of uncooked bean sprouts. Not much flavor or interest to the dish. My husband had beef with pea pods. He said it was nothing special.

This is my favorite restaurant, for multiple reasons. One of which is that there's a vegetarian soy menu, which is great for a vegetarian like me. It is slightly pricy on a tight budget like what I'm on, but you definitely get what you pay for.The food is good, and I will definitely go again.

This place is delicious. If you are a vegetarian you will appreciate it even more than regular Chinese restaurants- you can get anything on their menu with soy pork, soy chicken, or soy beef. It is so good! The hot and sour soy pork soup, the amazing beef, and sesame soy chicken are delicious. Plus, lots of veggies!!

This has been our favorite Chinese Take-Out Restaurant. But the last time we ordered Hot & Sour soup we got Egg Drop. Tonight we ordered Gen. Tao Chicken and it was severely over cooked. Had the consistency of beef jerky. Been disappointed lately.

If ur searching for great Chinese food in Maine, good luck. Chia Sen is decent and one of the better places in the area. Get the bottle of wine deal. Service is quick so you can devour and escape when you realize you ate your weight.

New favorite Chinese food restaurant in the area!! I can only speak to two dishes because it was my first time there , but the general tso chicken is NOT overly breaded which is a major complaint I have with other local restaurants. Crab rangoon was yummy too. I will definitely go back.

I love the vegetarian soy meats there and they are done well but the last time I went there was real meat mix in there as well and was disappointed the server did nothing about it including not even apologizing. He just said and I quote, "they mix everything together so some probably just fell in." which isn't something you want to hear at a supposed upscale chinese restaurant that you are paying a decent amount at and in addition are a strict vegetarian. Nevertheless, I may go back again. Maybe. That did put a damper on things. It is so good though.

Got take out tonight for the first time in a long time. The service was fast, the food was exceptional and all package really well! The crab Rangoon’s... with actual crab!! And the egg roll with small shrimp! My god it was delish!!! Will definitely return ! :)

I paid 70$ for one single bag when I go to china taste I walk out with so much for the same price they have to put it in multiple bags then put the bags in a box so I can walk out in one trip only up side I see to this place is they have more vegetarian options then china taste but over all more for your money at china taste and better quality I feel

First time eating their food. I've tried many Chinese restaurants in the area, and I have to say that this is one of the best. The prices aren't bad, and the food is very good. My only complaint is that the food is VERY salty. Not odd for an American Chinese restaurant, but I like my food a little less salty. I feel like drinking a gallon of water. But, the food was delicious and well priced so I will order again and just make sure I have water on hand.

After all the good reviews... I this place a try. LONG wait for take out and was pressured to have another drink... and re-read the menu on the cost of pupu tray. Its a bit more expensive than you may think. Something must of been off at this time I tried but the food at best taste like mall food, almost exactly like the place in the Maine mall... must of been why it took so long ....

I know that tonight im a dirty construction worker who worked late and is riding my bicycle home. But thats no reason to give me bs services. They saw me pull up on my bicycle. My tea and water was empty before i was half way done eating and was never refilled. The waitress was so judgemental. But the food was absolutely the best chinese food you can find. So good. Regardless of the bs service i will be back. And next time i will hopefully have tea left over in my lunch bag to refill my self.

Great tasting food and every item on the menu is available in a vegetarian version. Large portions leave you full and asking for a doggy bag to take home leftovers. HEADS UP: kind of expensive. We only come here 2/3 times a year, but it is delicious. The soy chicken is my favorite flavor. Soy beef, soy shrimp and soy pork also available for vegetarian dishes. Recommend for special occasions or "date night." Dinner for two with two martinis will set you back $70 before tip.

I wouldn't recommend it for dinner, the food quantity is good but the taste was horrible. There are better and cheaper Chinese restaurants nearby. Been there twice for dinner and on both occasions the cook/staff screwed up. The first time the cook sent us the wrong food which didn't taste good either and the staff other than apologizing didn't do anything. The second time the food just tasted horrible, out of 5 dishes that we ordered 4 dishes weren't cooked right. Again the staff other than apologizing didn't do anything. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I'm so disappointed not to be able to give 5 stars. Not so long ago, it seems, we considered this to be our favorite in the area. Tonight Egg foo young had VERY few veggies. Egg and onion basically. The brown gravy was very sweet. Not what I've ever had. $15 for an omelette with sweet sauce, small white rice and one egg roll, also sweeten. Sad to say I wont be going back anytime fast.

The people were very nice, but the menu features no combinations, they screwed up my order, my chicken lo mein was missing, and they included crab rangoons, which I did not order, and which my wife is allergic to, plus, the food just isn't that good, and it's expensive. If I'm gonna order $55 worth of food for me and my family, I expect it to be done right, and taste good, and neither was the case.

We have changed our "new regular" place for Chinese take-out again! I cannot believe the number of vegan options (for me), and the willingness of the chef and staff to satisfy us. I had the Mongolian "beef" which was recommended, and was not disappointed. Mouth watering delicious. My partner had the orange tofu "chic-n" and we split the garlic green beans. Mother of all that is holy, this was so delicious! Thank you for having options for us! The rest in our party ate the meat meals and they raved equally about the freshness and deliciousness. Wow!

Pretty disappointed. The Mongolian beef was fairly bland and so was the egg drop soup. I get the feeling it was that way because they used much less salt or MSG than other restaurants might, which is a shame because the people were very nice. I tried adding soy sauce but it didn't help.
