Very very good most of the food is a bit spicy, with a touch of tanginess. I definitely suggest the baby back ribs, they are absolutely amazing. For a side, I'd highly recommend the twice fried fries. Overall it's a great restaurant with great food.

Was just passing through on way to vacation. Looked cool from the road so we stopped in. BEST CHOICE WE MADE on the read. Food, awsome... Service, awsome... The kids need to run off some bent up travel energy. Buck's has a very cool kids play area up front. Was just what we needed. Prices are not bad, servings are huge. Stop in and try it out. You will not be disappointed.

Corn bread so good I always order extra.. it's just a ton of food. A pick two with brisket and pulled pork is my go to meal. I love this location. The building is a huge log cabin. In the center is a bar with booths and tables. Cozy date night spot.

First of all, any restaurant that offers burnt ends as an appetizer, really knows how to do barbecue! The food was phenomenal. Pulled pork and sliced brisket with corn bread , twice fried fries and coleslaw was what i had so i can only base my rating on that. I am willing to bet the rest of the menu is just as good. The fries were crispy, not greasy at all. The corn bread was good too. The only negative thing i can think of was the coleslaw. it didnt taste like much and some of the pieces of cabbage were pretty big. But i wasn't there for coleslaw, i was there for barbecue so it doesnt affect my rating at all. Wait staff was great and the place was nice. Good place to eat!

Local barbeque place with locally sourced meat. Have been enjoying their food since it was a tiny 10 table joint. These guys do a nice smoked, no sauce (hence the naked) barbeque. I recommend the pulled pork and the baby backs. Diverse menu now with tacos, fish, burgers, and steak. Pork belly tacos are good. Their wings are tasty, smoked and sauced. Get the blueberry for a cooler sweat version. For families there is an awesome play house and toy selection. When the kids were younger this was place we had to go to when mommy and daddy needed a quiet moment and an adult beverage. It was almost like a date. Expect a wait at prime time on the weekend. They do takeout as well.

Stopped in for a bite to eat, was told a half hour wait. Didn't understand that because they had several tables empty. Once we got seated a couple who came in 15 minutes after us and got seated 5 minutes after us. If it wasn't for getting our dinner rather quickly I would have given a one star.

Before we walked in was not expecting much for a BBQ place in Maine. But then the right smell hit you when you walked in, and our hopes were raised. We decided to go with the brisket after all. The flavors were right, but we've never had meat so dry. It had obviously been overcooked and left out a while. We had to use sauce to rehydrate it before we could eat it. So, won't be doing that again. Fries were good, as was the iced tea, and service was with a smile... So some good points.

Wicked good 'cue! The meat is smoky, the dry rub is salty-sweet. It's a great balance of flavors. The portions are huge. But let's not kid ourselves: the red BBQ sauce and the "blueberry" BBQ sauce both taste the same. They're both good, but they're both the same.

The food was ok but in our opinion not as good as Famous Dave's. It was 81 degrees inside and felt like no a.c. If you enjoy sweating while eating average smoked bbq then this is the place for you! Service is average at best!

We love Bucks. It does get busy, and can be loud, so we plan to go early to avoid wait lines. There is generally a bit of wait time for food but when it arrives, it will be hot, fresh, and delicious. If you have younger kids, the little play village will keep them occupied (for hours!). It's worth going just for the peaceful moments you will have as hungry kids are distracted by imaginative play. Beer is cold, drinks are lovely, food is excellent, staff is busy but friendly and efficient. My menu favorites are the catfish fingers, gumbo, and any salad. Hubby loves the ribs, brisket, and the mac 'n cheese.

It would be zero if it was an option. The place was a zoo! Unruly kids running around the place pushing Tonka trucks..banging into stuff...it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think! The parents just sitting there completely ignoring the commotion. Ridiculous!! My husband and I had come here many times in the past when we lived in the area. We haven't been here in a couple years so we figured we would have a lunch on the way home. First off I'm 63 years old and the first thing the waitress said as she ran up to our table was "Hey Mama Can I get you something to drink? MAMA?? Unbelievable! Then when she brought the food I went from Mama to Honey. Then to babe! Really?? This is the unprofessional wait staff you have now??? My Husband is the only one that has the right to call me Babe. From a waitress it is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. The food was terrible. I was presented the pastrami and Swiss sandwich and sweet potato fries I ordered and the sandwich was all askew on the plate and the fries were so soggy and greasy I couldn't eat them. We ordered fried pickle chips and they were not like any we had ever had before. They were heavy with some kind or cornmeal dough and gross! My husband got the pick two and couldn't eat it as the brisket was stone cold and the sausage tasteless...nothing like it had been before. But by the time we got the food we were already thinking of getting out fast just from the disruption that was going on with out of control kids and noise. Between the noise, clammer and bad food we will never come back. We will stick to the Riverfront BBQ in Augusta where the food is superb, awesome polite and respectful waitstaff...and you can carry on a conversation without having to resort to raising your voice. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

For a change of pace I got a fried chicken sandwich that the server recommended. BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I've EVER had, BY FAR. With some porter I was a happy camper. I usually sit at the bar. Every single bartender I've ever met here has been great. They're friendly,contentious, smart, and hard workers. They have no problem making a recommendation, which I feel is a sign of a great server. The next time I came by I again ordered the chicken sandwich. It looked great. Took a bite and something was off. Just wasn't at all tasty. I think the oil was due to be changed. I mentioned it and she apologized and got me a delicious pulled chicken sandwich, YUM!!! Happy again. The happy hour $4 7.3% Shed beers that I drank didn't hurt either! All in all, another great meal, as usual.

The food was excellent but the service was very poor. Before we were halfway thru our meals the waitress was back asking if we were "full" yet and dumping off take home boxes. She came back a few minutes later with check no offer for dessert or seeing if we needed anything. Please note there were plenty of empty tables so it was not like anyone was waiting. Also this was at the Windham location.

I attended a dinner meeting where the food was served buffet style. At the end they provided tins and covers so we could take home the leftovers. A good way to not waste food. And the food was fabulous. I look forward to returning.

I ordered the two meat combo with brisket, pulled pork, fries, and potato salad. The pork was good, brisket a little dry, rest was ok. The cornbread was warm and service friendly. I don't think I would return for those prices and didn't eat leftovers.

Outstanding BBQ - and here on the coast of Maine. This is the kind of BBQ you expect to find in the heartland. Super dry rub BBQ, with multiple sauces for those that prefer everything from the mustard South Carolina style, to Texas, to KC vinegary.

I'm from the Kansas City area so my opinions are based on the BBQ in our area. We had the 2 meat combo of pulled pork and pit chicken. The pulled pork was as good as any I've had, moist and flavorful. The chicken was ok, not bad by any means but not as good as some back in KC. We had the beans and again ok, but the beans back in KC we're way better. Corn bread ok but could be sweeter. Personally I like penquin brand corn bread. The other side was a baked potato and it was good. All in all I would go back again. I'm not expecting KC style quality BBQ in Maine but this was pretty good in my opinion.

We had a very nice meal here.I had the pig wings or at least that's what they call them in other places but they're actually pork not chicken. They were very meaty and very tender. My husband had the ribs and he really enjoyed his meal as well. Server was very good. Would recommend this place

I've eaten at Buck's countless times over the years and I have yet to have a bad meal there. I can confidently tell you that Buck's has the best smoked chicken wings in all of Maine and their draft beer list is constantly rotating new options in and out. Their menu has plenty of options outside of your traditional BBQ, they have something for everyone here. I highly recommend it.

Great food. Good selection of beer. Went on a Friday evening, it was very busy. Only suggestion, make sure to ask not to be in the "kids corner" of you dont have kids. Dinner was a bit distracting and chaotic being 2 adults in the corner with kids running around playing next to and behind our table

TLDR: Amazing BBQ and love that they offered takeout! My husband and I were staying the night at a cottage a couple miles away with our senior dog and wanted to find a local place that offered takeout, and I'm so glad I found Buck's! The smell of smoked BBQ wafted throughout the parking lot and I knew we made the right decision when we pulled in. We didn't realize that we could have called to order ahead, but the lovely lady at the front gave us a menu and let us figure out what we wanted. My husband ordered a steak tenderloin with a side of baked beans and collared greens. As a man from the south, he raved about the steak and especially the collared greens all night and loved that they even remembered to give him vinegar for his greens! My half rack of ribs with a loaded baked potato and the sauteed brussel sprouts were delicious! I was happily surprised that the brussel sprouts were so well cooked, soft but not mushy with a little bit of crunch near the stem. I ended up going with the blueberry BBQ sauce and the house BBQ sauce, and both were amazing but I my favourite was the blueberry since it was a little sweeter than the house sauce. Anyway, Buck's is definitely on my must go places in Freeport now!

Local Freeport BBQ joint serving everything from salads to pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. The BBQ offerings are served "naked" which means they come out of the kitchen with just their special dry rub on the meat. It's up to you to decide which if any BBQ sauce you want to add. They include 4 different types right on the table including a blueberry variant. Don't hesitate to bring the kids along. There's a built-in children's play area with structures and toys to keep them occupied while you enjoy your meal. There's also live music downstairs on certain evenings. Overall the wait isn't terrible, but can run over 30 minutes, so be prepared if you arrive after 6pm.

We ordered the “Basket” to share and kind of sample their ribs, brisket, sausage and chicken. I used to spend time in Texas but not a fan for BBQ as i usually found them too salty and overpowering. But these are goooooood. It is also a lot for 2 to share. Personally I love the cornbread as well especially if to go with butter.

Very underwhelming. I get that is a BBQ place but it's also coastal Maine. If you offer lobster rolls, they shouldn't suck. Pretty sure their lobster was frozen. It was also by far the most bland lobster I've ever had. Butter goes a long way. Cole slaw also had zero flavor. Their BBQ might be fine but their seafood was terrible. Service was also very slow considering how slow it was when I was there.

This is a great place to bring a family and this was our third trip to the restaurant. The food is good pub grub. I'm a big fan of their burgers. The place has a kids play area which is a bonus. On this visit it was a busy Friday night. Our waitress was very nice but service was a little slow - especially getting drinks. Overall we enjoy the no frills atmosphere, good reliable food and will definitely be back.

Ordered from the takeout menu, the brisket was wicked dry as was the chicken, which despite having dry rub was very bland. Pulled pork and sausage were pretty good and the staff were very friendly and pleasant. They were completely sold out of ribs which was our main reason for choosing this establishment but overall it was ok.

Buck's was a nice stop on our vacation through the area. We enjoy seafood and lobster but nothing is better that good BBQ. Even at the lunch time rush, service was fast and the food was very good. Portion size was very good and the prices were good too. Nothing beats good BBQ!

Found what looked like several pubic hairs in my food. Submitted a complaint on their website a week ago but no one ever got back to me. I'm usually not one to post a negative review. Infact this is the first time I've ever left a review on Google but from the issue itself, to not even having the decency to send me a reply I just couldn't bite my tongue any longer. People need to know this place is terrible to deal with.

Amazing Memphis BBQ and in Maine. The Burnt Ends served with a creamy horseradish sauce and chicken wings were tops.Their rub works perfectly and the smoke is spot on. My friend loved her pulled chicken tostada salad, gluten free because of the corn tortillas used! The sauces on the table, especially the blueberry, were yummy! This place is a must visit when in the Freeport area.

First off.. I have to say the waitress we encountered was utterly amazing. We joked and had a blast with her (my 70 year old mother caught her off guard with her "jovial" nature) but she didn't miss a beat. She truly was amazing! That said.. We had one of the best meals we have ever had a Buck's tonight. The burgers were perfect. The steak? Gordon Ramsey would be impressed! I have to say I don't think the food could be improved upon. You guys go out of your way to create a welcoming atmosphere and you're killing it! Thanks for being the best at what you do.

Bucks is a very good place, The food is really good and fresh. The kid play area is bad when you sit next to it the kids are screaming and freaking out I think they should get rid of the play area. Their waits are quick.

Brisket burnt ends! Plus a side of twice cooked french fries makes a nice inexpensive meal. Ask if they will make a "Hot Brown". It's not on the menu any more . . . but sometimes they will make it for you. Well worth a try.

I have always liked this place. The chicken corn chowder is my absolute favorite, served with a piece of their delicious cornbread. The staff is always friendly and polite. Prices aren't bad either.

I only had a drink and dessert, but it was really good. The server was awesome. My brother loves it there. He got wings, said all the food is awesome - definitely want to go back to try it all out! Update: tried the food and was not disappointed at all! Delicious sandwiches and a great variety of sides to choose from.

We arrived early and the wait staff and kitchen were quick, polite, and helpful throughout our meal. The drinks are amazing (you get a rib on your mixed drink which is beyond great) and unlike a lot of BBQ places, you get a ton of food for the money you are paying. All the better their patio is dog friendly and the wait staff was kind and loving with my dog. 100% recommend.

Big thank you to Buck's. The girls from Penbay soccer team came in cold, tired and hungry after playing a terrific game with the Freeport girls. There were 25 or so of us. We were in the mood for serious BBQ and found this place on the way back from a road trip to Acadia National Park. A little nondescript from the outside but the food was awesome. We got sharing places of wings, ribs and pulled pork. I would particularly recommend the beans and slaw. We didn’t quite have the courage to try the hottest wing sauce called “Slap Your Momma” - must be our British reserve! While the tables were a little sticky the staff were friendly and efficient and this was the perfect stop on our 4 hour drive home.

Food was delicious! Portions were very large. Ordered a half rack of ribs and was glad I didn't order the full rack! Greens were delicious. Aunt had the brisket Reuben and loved it. Twice fried fries were very good as well! Juju sauce was the best.
