OUR soup was lukewarm and when I asked for our server to warm it she happily said "of course, I'll be right back. " she never made it back! They were moderately busy, maybe 8 tables in the whole place.

Great comfort food! We've been eating here for over twenty years and it's always great, more than generous portions and reasonably priced. The owner is an amazing cook and makes soups that are just fabulous as well as homemade donuts every Sunday morning. If you are passing through Machias or coming for a visit, definitely have a meal here.

The wait staff was excellent! However, the kitchen help needs some work. My wife ordered a salad which was brought out on a hot plate, making what was suppose to be a cold salad warm...not good! Then when we requested a new salad on a cold plate, it was very obvious they just found a cold plate and reserved the old salad because it was still warm lettuce leaves! I myself ordered a good old standby, a burger. This standby came to a quick end when I discovered a big piece of plastic in the burger itself. That was enough for us. The waitress was kind enough to not charge for our meal. We made sure she got a decent tip due to her professional manner and none of this was her fault. Very disappointing!

It wasn't super busy the night we visited. I got a burger and fries. The burger was a little over seasoned, but not too bad. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I've had only the breakfast food here, it was a lacking flavor and seasoning. As far as bacon and potatoes and eggs go. I did enjoy the veggie omelet! Just be sure to try it with ketchup and some pepper. The resturant, Helen's across the street next to Machias River Inn is a slightly pricier place but the foood is excellent there. Side note*** The juices here are all a bit carbonated and aren't very tasty

The food was horrible. Lobster stew was brown. Couldn't even be eaten. The waitress wouldn't take it off the bill, she only took off half the cost of the lobster stew. It was a very bad experience!

Poor service . . . Server announced she was having a bad day. Botched order, neglected to relay it to the kitchen and so there we sat. When we alerted another server to our predicament, our meals were brought out quickly and were very good. So not pleased with that experience although the food is good and service, from my observation, is efficient and friendly.

Service was slow, food was not cooked to my liking... asked for well done potato wedges and some were almost raw...was told that their grill wasn't hot enough to cook them well... breakfast burrito Shell was cold... asked for salsa and got it ten minutes later... prices were reasonable

Really really nice well-cooked stuff. I had a nice pot roast one night, had a really good chicken Philly cheesesteak. What really stood out for me was the incredible variety and quality of the baked goods. But best of all....was a lovely wait staff!!! Thanks!

I gave it 5 stars because that's all I was allowed. If you are in Machias or anywhere near be sure you take a trip to Bluebird Ranch. The food and service is amazing in the buffet is something you do not want to miss. The assortment is outstanding with everything from fresh fruit to oatmeal to a delicious bread pudding. They offer everything you can think of for food at a great price. Highly recommended do not miss. PS when we were there they had a lemon blueberry filled with a delicious Bavarian cream that was out of this world nice and warm out of the kitchen.

Had many good experiences here but my last visit was the worst I think I've ever had at a restaurant. Food took a long time to get and two of my party were forgotten completely. I would also say that the food was under cooked.

I have been to this resturant many times. The food has always been very good. However I went there yesterday with my friend and I was very disappointed we ordered the fried clam and shrimp duo. The shrimp was so tiny that all you could taste was batter. There was also many pieces of batter without shrimp.

We found this treasure chest of a restaurant along US 1 in Machias Maine on our way to Quoddy State Park. We hit the jackpot in variety quality and reasonably priced! Better yet the staff is super duper! Beware their baked goods are out of this world!

After 20-years of absence, it’s always nice to come back to an area and see that the best never changes. I lived at the Bluebird while stationed at Cutler and the haddock chowder was my absolute favorite...when everyone else had clams or lobster, this was my comfort food “go to”. Nothing’s changed. Absolutely wonderful chowder: creamy, buttery, fresh, hand-cut potatoes and the best (enormous) chunks of haddock in the Downeast.

Just visiting Maine, and was referred here by a local. Small place, quite average overall. Ordered the haddock fillet sandwich on a recommendation. Received a full size fillet on a bun with a side of fries, pickles and tartar sauce. Food was good, service was pleasant. I recommend this place for a quick bite.
