This Restaurant belongs to the category of Barbecue restaurant.
Great food even better service.
Love this place. The beef brisket could have been sliced better. It was more like shreds than slices. Otherwise everything else was wonderful.
Waited 45 minutes for them to prepare to go order. I live 5 min from the place. Both meats were straight up cold, pork cold and dry, portions seemed bit small for 18.00. What a disappointment. Do not recommend.
Great bbq and good price. Plenty to share or take home.
Great food and service
Best BBQ in the state. I'm usually disappointed with brisket here in Maine. More often than not it tastes like roast beef. Not the case at Beale Street. The sliced brisket is flavorful and juicy. The best I've found so far. Hats off to the pit master! Bonus: the cornbread is not dry!
Incredble flavors and their hot sauce rocks.
I had heard a lot of good things about this place. This was my first time and tried the chili which was recommended. Not great. Tried a few other things and it was just OK. Prices are a little upscale but if the food was great it would be worth it.
Atmosphere is easy going, food is amazing!
Not many places in Maine have BBQ like Beale Street. If you're in the mood for a taste of Memphis with a side of Maine, stop here on your visit to Bath. Great service, friendly staff, and a diverse food & drink menu. As Bath locals, this is a regular on our restaurant routine.
The Texas Beef Brisket is outstanding. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to try the homemade BBQ sauce.
This used to be an awesome place to eat. The food used to be outstanding, however the last time we went it was awful. As other reviewers have said, it has gone downhill. The macaroni and cheese was clearly just heated up, the sausage was dry, and the portion of French fries was minute. The best thing about the meal was the Russian lemonade. It was very disappointing, which is a shame, because this place used to be amazing. In addition to the disappointing food, their prices have gone up!! There are other restaurants close by that have better food and more affordable. Save yourself the let down, eat somewhere else.
I ordered the brisket on grilled jalapeno bread to go, absolutely delicious! Took a seat at the bar and enjoyed a Gritty's black fly stout while I waited. There was a steady flow of happy customers and the atmosphere was perfect.
Best BBQ in the area, the daily specials are usually amazing and the Texas brisket is my favorite.
The shrimp and sausage jambalaya was fantastic. I will go there again just for that. Pleasant atmosphere , great music at just the right volume : you can really hear it but have a conversation at the same time .
Friendly, fast and always a treat!
The service and the cornbread were thee only things right about this place. Shame. On your over priced menu. Microwaveable Mac and cheese AND THERE’S AN UP CHARGE FOR IT! Shame. Despicable DRY bbq. Sampler platter. Shame. Shame. Shame. We need to get some real Chefs up here. FOR REAL!!! Wicked bad! Wicked! I would’ve given a negative review, however the option wasn’t there.
Excellent service and food! Will go back time and time again.
Sweet Potato burrito was so good!
Pulled pork on top of jalapeno corn bread was awesome! Very clean and great service during peak lunch period.
Ambience is good but the food could have been better.
Excellent meal & service
Great food and service.
Great place.
Food came out room temperature, sauce was heavy on vinegar, portions were small by Maine standards. Cafeteria fare at best.
Great ribs especially the honey ones. Will visit again.
Great atmosphere and good Barbecue.
Love the BBQ always great!! Great beer and wine list. Kid friendly and bar.
Sone of the best BBQ around. The portions are always huge
I'm a big fan of pulled pork and never had one I didn't like until Beale Street - the pork was really fatty and greasy. Cole slaw was good, fries were alright. Staff was friendly, but very slow and inattentive.
My fav place in Bath, I've lived here for 4+ years and I highly reccomend this place. Consistancy is key, and it's never bad here. Thx
The best BBQ pulled pork :)
The best ribbies anywhere
We are killing it ! In Bath ME, this place has real BBQ. Ribs, brisket, beans, greens, sweet mash potatoes all great!
We did takeout and took it back to our hotel. We had the beef brisket and the pulled pork, each with the grilled jalapeno corn bread. It was delicious, especially the beef brisket, which was tender, moist, virtually no fat. We liked the food so much we had takeout from them again the next night. I really wanted to try one of the fish dishes but loved the brisket so much I ordered it again. The atmosphere in the restaurant looked nice. Casual, but not picnic table casual. They have a nice looking full bar. Prices were reasonable, although the price of sides ($3.50 or $3.75?) seemed a bit steep, but perhaps the portions are larger than the sides that come with the entrees? Glad we stumbled upon this place during our aimless wandering around downtown Bath.
Always a tasty meal, we have been here several times. Never disappointed!
Had the pulled pork and ribs combo. Delicious! Very nice smoked flavor and surprisingly generous portions. The cornbread was addictive. Definitely would recommend
An enjoyable place with a nice atmosphere and a varied menu.
The food was very tasty. The menus was somewhat limited.
Great food and great service. Really friendly staff. The jalapeno cornbread is amazing.
This was one of our favorite local restaurants, but I've been pretty unimpressed the last two times we've gone. The prices seem to have increased but unfortunately both the quality and quantity of the food has decreased significantly. The portions were noticeably smaller which isn't a big deal except when you're charging more money for them, but more importantly the quality of the food has gone downhill. The pork was fatty with big gristly chunks and pretty flavorless. After two poor experiences, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.
My wife and I don't have a huge budget for eating out, so we have two or three "go-to" restaurants because we never want to take chances on not being happy with what we get. Beale Street in Bath is one of our three on that list. Extremely consistent, and consistently GOOD. They are a real treasure for the City of Bath. I recommend them first on the list every single time someone asks me where to eat in Bath. Hats off to the Quigg family, who has provided us countless perfect meals. How do I give them six stars instead of just five?
Food was awful, when the table confronted the waitress she sent someone else over. That waiter was extremely rude and hostile. We were all willing to pay for our meals but felt we had every right to express that none of us ate our food and found it inedible. They took one meal off of our bill, I guess something is better than nothing. Have been there a few times, the food has never been great but this time it was absolutely horrible. Will never go back, too expensive to be spoken rudely to and to not be able to eat your food. Wouldn’t suggest, Bath has many other better restaurants!
Great specials.
It is actually very surprising to find good BBQ this far north, but this place does not disappoint. You should try their fresh lemonade, its great!
BEST barbeque I have ever had. no joke. I have had so-called "authentic, amazing, best...etc etc" barbeque places from Boston , to Florida, NOLA. I have had the ribs here at Beale St - perfect dry rub with house sauce on table - best way to serve in my opinion. The jalapeno corn bread is a bit sweet - but moist and really delicious! Cole Slaw is VERY fresh - a good sign :) I also had the beef brisket - melt in your mouth...SO good! not too much fat - full of flavor. They take no reservations - WORTH the wait! Get a beer or cider at the bar and just ..wait for the magic :)
What is there to say? Always good. The last waiter was very very good.
Barbeque ribs are meaty and flavorful. Service is friendly and efficient. If they could put shades on their windows, customers would be able to enjoy their meals without being baked in the sun.
Such an awesome place to eat. Incredible food and the drinks are awesome.
Pricy menu for the portions. Sparse ribs and brisket shredded and oily. I hope is was an off day.
Best BBQ around that I have tried!! Pulled pork and cornbread are amazing!!!
Rotating specials are fresh as they can get. Excellent cornbread
Called in a take out order and was told they were too busy and to call back in an hour and a half. How different is it timewise to show up and order a meal to go? They still have to make it. Absurd! Very disappointed. Usually such great service.
Always Great food and Service!
Quick, friendly, and knowledgeable service.
The BBQ was pretty good. The sides leave a bit to be desired. The beans tasted like they were dumped from a can, heated and served. The cornbread tasted OK but would have been better if it had not been cold. The slaw was too sweet for my taste but my wife liked it. The service was fast but our server failed to resolve an issue for me. I had ordered a double portion of meat and what I got was actually LESS than my wife's REGULAR portion. When I mentioned this to our server, she said that they pre-portion the meat so what I got HAD to be correct. An email to the manager quickly resolved this and I was kindly give appropriate compensation. We will definitely go back to try it again. I do think that their prices are a bit high for this type of restaurant. Pulled pork at $16.99 per pound is a bit too much for my budget.
Food is good, but could not believe the bill. Way over priced.
Excellent still the best ribs around m
Love it! Fantastic cornbread and bbq of all kinds. Nice setting, fast service and good music.
Best barbecue around, hands down!
GREAT Mac N' Cheese, especially with sliced beef brisket on top. Pricey, but worth it. Not a place to eat regularly, and the wait-staff is sometimes iffy. It's good food, and in a good quantity, but sometimes lack quality.
Nice staff. Good food.
Awesome food. Great taste. Perfect atmosphere.
Food was good..... Ribs excellent, shredded pork just ok. The baked beans with pork were good not great. Excellent music and service.
Awesome place, even for vegetarians. The food is spectacular, the service is stellar and the atmosphere, ambiance and music are wonderful. It's right next to generous parking and close to Front Street where there's a lovely small park on the river for a nice stroll.
Always stop in when I am in Bath
Great barbeque in a friendly pub atmosphere. Corn bread is awesome.
I have patronized this restaurant for 15+ years, and got a chance to visit last week while in town. Their pulled pork and ribs are always perfectly smoked and the sides (beans, cole slaw) are equally flavorful, portions are generous but wastefully excessive. Kitchen was backed up so we waited a bit longer than normal for our entrees to arrive. Server was friendly and attentive, did a good job of helping us pack up the leftovers.
A+! Everything done to perfection. If you like barbeque, this place is a must.
Daily special was country style ribs. Tasty and moist. Love the Cole slaw and cornbread. Server was pleasant and attentive, and restaurant was full.
I’m from KC and love BBQ! Beale’s BBQ was really good. The BBQ sauce was (in my opinion) KC style. Definitely a restaurant that you should not pass up!
Food and wait staff are awesome
Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and top notch food
Having been a fan of Beale Street for 20 years, I am sorry to say my last 2 meals were a major disappointment. Ribs dry, jalopnia bread dry, hard, veggy beans in a plastic container, not the same, also when I asked to replace the lemonade, which used to be fresh squeezed, as it was way too sugary, I was told that it was some bottled kind, so I asked for water w/slice of lemon. I was charged for the drink. No more recommendations from me. Folks in my bookstore used to ask for a good place to eat, sadly it is not Beale st any longer.
Excellent BBQ well worth the drive.
Best BBQ in the area and a pretty good beer selection.
Excellent food !!!
Great drinks! Great bbq and you have to try the cornbread!
Nice food. Good IPA choices
ribs were great left happy and full
Best barbeque around
The Brisket melted in your mouth, the Ribs where absolutely fantastic. Chicken and sausage soup just incredible. The corn bread was absolutely delicious.
Food is sooooo good.
The food here is great and the people are friendly.
Brisket and cornbread couldn't get any better
Best Barbque in Maine. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is NC and TN is better.
Incredible food, I've never had a bad meal here. The service is always good.
Great place with some atypical BBQ and eats.
Amazing food
Great food!
Great Q for being so far north. Try the Mac and cheese!
Some of the best bbq in Maine. Go-to when I'm in the area
Great Pulled Pork and Smoked Sausage Always a pleasure to eat there.
Had Jim Bean with Moxie it was good!!!
Great atmosphere, good service with very tasty food.
Really good BBQ...My wife and I shared the Sampler Platter and it was plenty... A couple of recommendations: - If you're gonna have the name Beale Street, and have blues memorabilia on the walls, then you should only be playing Blues music - A variety of sauces Worth the trip/stop, especially because BBQ joints are rare in Maine...
Excellent!
Darn good BBQ and friendly service.
Absolutely a huge disappointment! I walked into the restaurant 10 mins after they opened thinking the food would be the freshest. It was not. I ordered the Texas brisket with beans and collards. The meat was so dry it tasted like it was a day or two old and overcooked and put in a microwave. The beans were dry and tasted old as well. It was not worth the money I spent and I will never eat there again.
Warm and friendly greeting, Matt was outstanding, great brisket and ribs, and nice sign by the door as you leave.
People were nice and Foods were delicious
Consistently good food and friendly people.
Went for the ribs and brisket. Was not disappointed!! Excellent smoked meat, grilled cornbread and beans. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it! Great job folks
Very good food and helpful, friendly staff. If you enjoy BBQ you will likely be very happy with Beale Street Barbeque.
Not impressed. I was told the soup wasn't spicy and was brought what I felt was the day old soup. My mouth on fire. Friend ordered same soup and it was completely different in taste and color. When I mentioned to waitress, she could care less and walked away. Chicken w blueberry sauce dry and tasteless. Over-all I could see that others ordered salads and seemed happy with their choices. Not impressed over all. When a waitress is completely oblivious to food and soup not eaten? You have to wonder if she's just used to it or doesn't care.
They play blues while you eat; delicious food (wish we could have eaten here more than once, so many good menu choices!), friendly staff
The sides were good but the BBQ seemed like it could've been cooked for a bit longer. The fat wasn't totally rendered out.
This place has great food! I love the atmosphere as well, and the food is pretty fairly priced for what you’re getting. Try the barbecue beans as a side, they are delicious.
Never disappointed, always delicious food and drinks! The calamari is always perfect!
Excellent St Louis ribs, very tasty french fries! The beef brisket was yummy as well.
The combo plate of ribs and beef brisket was fantastic. I brought a big appetite and left full to the gills.
Great service. The brisket chili and mac and cheese is definitely worth trying. Pity not open all days of the week.
Food and service very good
Very good food and atmosphere
Very good food and very nice staff. Large portions great place
An all-time favorite!
Great food, fast service, and a perfect graduation dinner! Couldn't have asked for anything better! The beef brisket, especially, was amazing!
Loved it, best ribs of my life. Up until now that is...
Great place for BBQ. Also bathrooms are clean and handicap accessible with changing tables. Bar seating available and simple local draft beer selection
I loved the pulled pork. Last time I went, it wasn't as good as usual. Greasy and fatty. Not a lot of corn bread. What happened?
Shredded Brisket sandwich was dry.
Awesome food! The cheese quesadilla is amazing.
Excellent food, friendly service.
Great food, atmosphere & wait staff.
Great bbq in downtown Bath. Got the rib special and was very very full.
Great atmosphere! Staff is super friendly! Amazing food!
Great service, cold beer, good menu. 4-stars for the BBQ because we’re in Maine. I’m from the South and was grateful for BBQ at all. Pulled pork was good and I liked the sauce. The jalapeño cornbread was missing the jalapeño but, the cornbread was good. The Brisket was not good, over cooked and dry though the sauce was good. Ordered the key lime pie for dessert and left most of it on the table. Wife and I love small local places. That’s why we changed the 3 to a 4. If you’re in Bath, give this place a shot. It’s worth a try.
Have eaten here dozens of times. Love the brisket and mac and cheese.
i wish i could give beal a great review. i really love the menu and the space, staff is great but i get sick everytime i eat here
Totally authentic and delicious.
Always consistent, nicely seasoned food at a reasonable price. Good menu selection, haven't had a bad dish yet. Great selection of beers, many of which are 'locals'. The vibe of the place evoked by the name itself aligns fairly well as a humble and cozy blues joint with a good selection of background music to help complete the atmosphere; it's easy to stay for a while. As it's a niche, I can't quite hit 5 stars, but for the niche it is, its definately a good choice.
I have never been disappointed here. I look forward to my next visit.
A true hidden Jewel and well worth making it a destination when in the area. First-rate barbecue and many other dishes. A first-rate bar as well
Great food, had the shredded brisket on jalapeno bread with sweet potato mash. Good size serving, good service, i definitely recommend
Yummy!
Great Food, and great service. Everything we had was terrific. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
Had dinner at Beale St on a Saturday night. Service was quick and friendly and our food came hot out of the kitchen. Started with the Mac and cheese which we both enjoyed and then we shared the bbq sampler with brisket. The jalapeño cornbread was a favorite! Ribs were perfectly cooked, we honestly enjoyed all of the different types of smoked meat. Glad this place is local, we’ll be back again.
Rice dish was a surprise, over spiced. Past visits have been outstanding. Slow cooker meats are the obvious specialty.
This was a toss up between a three and a four, I opted for four stars as I really liked the place with their huge variety of sauces. But this time the ribs I had were pretty dry. I am not an expert on dry rub ribs but I was hoping they would have been juicier. Good value for money and I will definitely go again as the staff were great and there were many more options on their menu that I would like to try.
I absolutely love this place. The food is always delicious and the calamari was perfectly fried! The mood is wonderful. Blues and Jazz plays in the backround and it's such a nice atmosphere to be in.The vibes are just right.
Brisket was very dry.
Stay away! If you accidentally eat here please leave a review to correct this rating. I've never seen a good review so wrong. The sauce is not "St. Louis" it is ketchup with a dash of sugar. The ribs were extremely dry, some parts were almost inedible. The brisket was equally dry again.. Almost inedible. The Mac and cheese sounded good but was terribly bland. The sausage was OK, the chicken was inoffensive. It was also incredibly overpriced.
Amazing chili, that stuff could win a Texas chili cook off, can't believe I found it in Maine.
Very friendly service. Great food.
To start they made me the best John Daly I've ever had. The pulled pork had a great crust on it and all the sides I tried were delicious.
Awesome barbecue for New England. I recommend the jambalaya or the BBQ combos. Zydeco playing with Memphis decorations, both brisket and chilaquiles on the menu, it's definitely a fusion place. I think it works, and will definitely be back.
Pulled pork was awesome. Great find. Will try and squiggle out an errand this a way some time soon to sneak in a visit.
Excellent barbecue. We love it.
Great q
I wish I could say I liked it here.. its local to me and I like supporting local businesses... but I cant. Ive tried.. several times. Although I did LOVE the Russian Lemonades (the second star was for that drink) but it isnt enough to get me to go back Each time I ordered something different. No matter what I ordered it all tasted the same. Like they only own one jar of seasoning and they put it on everything The service has been hit or miss. Everyone has off days. Food aside.. the seating is cramped and uncomfortable.. specially the booths.. and the music is so loud you cant talk to the person across the table.. and even at that level couldnt block out the noise from the kitchen.
I had the brisket and ribs it was great, the jalapeno cornbread was good but I like spicy stuff so there could have been a little more Jalapeno in it, but it was all good I'll definitely be back for more. Excellent coleslaw
No waiting to be seated, excellent waitstaff, good food, fun atmosphere. Open all year round.
The brisket is excellent.
After a hiccup a few years back with a few bad players on the front end staff we're happy that Beale St. is back in the rotation for our Bath based family. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's good food and we always comment on the consistency. It's the place we take family in from out of town because we know what were going to get. I like the brisket personally, the wife likes the blackened fish. Kid friendly. Decent drink list. Treat yourself to the key lime pie!
Great food and service, excellent barbecue.
Absolutely delicious BBQ that came out fast! Staff was polite and friendly. Would definitely return. Tried the pulled pork on cornbread and ribs.
Love the Key West salad with grilled chicken
Great food, excellent staff. Thanks Mike!
