REVIEWS OF Bayside American Cafe IN Maine

Mary Conrad

The host said we would have a 30-35 minute wait. We waited about 45 minutes. We grabbed coffee and sat down. It was phenomenal food and service. Our waiter was great and built rapport with us immediately. My wife got the lobster scramble and a couple of bloody Mary’s. I had the crab cake Benedict and a couple of bloody Mary’s. We split one classic French toast. We aren’t people who are super into bread or sweet things but if you pass up the French toast you’re missing out on the greatest thing in Portland, Maine. It’s 100% worth every minute of a wait. I’d like to point out that once we sat down- we didn’t wait long for anything. Our food and drinks came quickly. The kitchen is phenomenal. The staff is friendly and great. If you have kids or don’t want to sit with your own thoughts for a spell-you can make a reservation. I’ll recommend this place every time.

Carianne Bente

If you want "fancy breakfast" this is the place to go! Delicious food every time.

Leo Lantigua

Great place. First time here had salmon egg Benedict which are awesome. Great service our waiter Andrew was very informative and very nice

Colin Atwood

Bayside America Cafe (formerly Bintliff's) is a staple restaurant in Portland, ME. They've been in business for as long as I can remember, and have been wowing foodie folk the entire time. Amazing drinks get your meal started, with a homey atmosphere. Great staff, great selection for brunch fare. I particularly love their hash and sauces, but the real love (IMHO) comes from any dish with their homemade breads. Simply delicious. One of three best-of-the-best brunches in the city!

Igal Kabak

Amazing brunch options with in house smoked salmon and fresh Maine lobster!

Becka Dever

WOW....my friend and I stopped in this restaurant yesterday on our way to Kennebunkport for a bite to eat and boy did we eat!!! The Eggs Benedict Florentine are the best I have ever had and her Chocolate Waffel was just as amazing. The customer service was above and beyond and the cozy atmosphere added to our perfect lunch. This is now my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant to eat at whenever I’m in the Portland area.

Rosemary Veazie

Food amazing and so is the waitstaff! They even give you recos in what to do after! A must stop to fuel up for the day!

shawn currier

Great great atmosphere! Strong coffee and wonderful service !

Tyler O'Brien

Had a 30 minute wait both times I've been but the Cheddar, bacon, scallion pancake was absolutely worth it. The building is small but very quaint

Andrew G

An excellent brunch spot (Portland appears to be brunch paradise) with top-notch service and pretty good coffee. Do not be fooled: the food in the photos on Google Maps may not look amazing, but that's because of the dim lighting. In person things look as appetizing as they actually are - very.

Nicole Wittkopp

This brunch/breakfast spot is awesome! It’s a converted old house and you wait downstairs and eat in the loft area. Well you wait, they offer free coffee- definitely a plus- and it’s good! Small but feels very spacious. Big menu with a ton of options and everything looks amazing- the veggie scramble thing I had was delicious and the bacon (side order) was perfectly fine. The Bloody Mary’s are superb (they put like shrimp cocktail sauce in it)!

Perry Bruce

Corned Beef Hash w/2 Eggs over easy!!! Everything is always delicious... thanks for keeping the same Delicious recipes as Natasha and Roger Bintliff!!

Jorgen Hansen

Bayside is a funky little place. It is very popular leading to some waite time. The food lives op to the standards of Portland, the foodie town of America. The brunch is very diverse and of excellent quality. We will be back.

Justin Shull

Opted for the Lobster Eggs Benedict. Simply put, it is the best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! If you have to wait, it is well worth waiting and a testament to their open and fantastic kitchen. Also, they have a self service coffee bar so you can get your caffeine fix while you wait. Funky and very welcoming environment. Thank you!

Leonardo Quang

The cinnamon pancake is fantastic, and the veggies home fries is also good. The service I'd fast and good.

Brad McBride

Great place for breakfast friendly, delicious food, big selection. They are busy so orders too longer to complete.

Sharyn Lincoln

One of the best places for brunch I've been to. Everything was delicious. The wait is definitely worth it!

Hector Oswald

Incredible food and a lovely atmosphere

Julie Richardson

The food was good, but not good enough to make up for the wait to get seated, and the wait for the food after our orders were taken. The waitress seemed to forget about us, leaving us with empty coffee cups and water glasses. Had to track down an employee for the check. I know plenty of breakfast places with food of the same or better quality with better service and shorter waits, so I won't be going back.

Daniel Bahr

Garlic Parmigiana Steak Benedict, may be the best breakfasts I have ever had!

Derek Gregory

Eat the corn beef hash... my favorite in the world ..

Shannon Armstrong

Never disappointed. Sweet or savory there’s always something delicious for whatever mood you’re in.

Leened Velazquez

Cozy, warm and unique environment. Great tasting brunch and coffee. Wait lines can be long on weekends, but it is worth the wait!

erik ventura

We enjoyed the food here. I was unimpressed with the cheese cake French toast and the poached eggs being over cooked. But everything was very well flavoured. Nice place

Jenna Whelan

Oh boy - where to start. This restaurant is unable to think strategically in order to accommodate a large party. This restaurant is dirty and unsanitary because they do not wash their pans / dishes prior to new orders. The lack of cleaning was incredibly concerning due to a sever food allergy in our party. Instead of any willingness to accommodate - like cleaning one damn pan - the excuse of “we’re too busy” was made. The server/manager became shockingly rude and combative to us. I 100% do not recommend this restaurant unless you enjoy a condescending server and dirty dishes.

Jacob Butler

Not cheap..... But decadent. Cinnamon bun pancakes are insane. Great Irish coffee. If you want something better than Becky's but don't mind paying twice as much, this is the place. Expect a wait in the busy season... Like 45 minutes.

Jake B

Really good, very hearty homemade breakfast. I had hash, which was really meaty and good, with a thick side of toast. I was very full after finishing it. My wife had the house smoked salmon platter. It's not lox but a big chunk of salmon, tasted great, and served with a bagel that would be entirely acceptable in a New York deli. Service was friendly, and the space is really pretty. It's not the cheapest but not outrageously expensive. I can imagine the wait must be nuts on weekends, it was pretty full for us at ten o'clock on a Thursday.

Hendricus Lulofs

If you can endure the wait to be seated....you will be rewarded with great food and service!

Zach Root

Great food and drinks.

Allison Hopkins

Food is awesome. Great service. Always worth the wait for a table.

Ami J

Great breakfast! I had the classic eggs Benedict with a side of bacon, both were very good!

Charlie Orosz

Food was very good, mamosa was poor. Small popular place. Be prepared to wait for brunch.

Jacqueline Auger

Delicious food and great portions. 2 French toasts were HUGE. Home fries were delicious and generous portion for 3 bucks.

David Carlson

Bayside has awesome food and a wonderful staff. Don't be put off by the wait time during the weekend. It's worth the wait

Gladys Wolfe

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! BEST breakfast of my lifetime and that is saying something! Our waiter, Jason, was equally amazing!!

christopher lucas

Great place to dine while in Portland. Usually a wait however it's worth it. Food is consistent and delicious and the staff is very friendly and inviting.

Gary Watson

Food was amazing. We had the homemade corned beef hash. Arrive early to avoid the wait.

Olivia Quiterio

I called ahead and waited 2 hours to eat at this restaurant with a party of 10 and the manager was extremely unaccommodating for our party. We had one member with a number of allergies and dietary restrictions and the manager would not clean a pan for this person. We had to all leave. Extremely disappointing. Would never recommend.

Joseph Calabrese

Amazing staff! Very friendly, exceptional service, and don't forget amazing food! I had eggs scrambled with lobster and it was great. I was also recommended the poached eggs. You may encounter a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. Self serve coffee and a waiting area make it a very comfortable wait when it's busy. They can handle large brunch parties down to and individual dining alone. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Trish Wilson

We walked in with a party of five for breakfast without a reservation because who needs a reservation at 9:30 on a Tuesday morning? Well, this place does and for good reason. Everything that was brought to our table was perfect--the drinks, corned beef hash, crab cake Benedict, lobster frittata were all amazing and the blueberry pancakes were huge and delicious. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. We are thankful that they were able to accommodate us.

George Barber

Outstanding breakfast and brunch options. Creative, delicious, and sure to please, first and every visit. Don't tell anyone as there is limited seating.

Mary A. Molloy

My friends and I went here for breakfast. The food is absolutely delicious but be prepared for a wait. There is not a lot of seating here and there is a lot of demand. We waited about 20 minutes and that was on a weekday morning.

Pamela Price Wharff

Excellent food and pleasant, casual atmosphere. Wait staff is very attentive and happy. Very busy restaurant!

Quan Nguyen

Very good breakfast in a cool old style house. Can be very busy, it was worth the wait.

Megan Mayo

Had the blueberry pancake with Maine maple syrup, corned beef hash and steak Benedict. All was wonderful! Very friendly staff.

Jeanette Wolfarth

Bayside is my favorite place to eat. I'm biased because I work here, but it really is good eatings.

Anamaria Salguero

Amazing food, worth the wait!

Elizabeth Hughes

Small place and you might have to wait a bit for a table but the food is for sure worth the wait! This place has literally the best everything french toast, pancakes, eggs doesnt matter if they make it its gonna be the best. On top of all that the staff is lovely!

Samantha Winchell

The food was absolutely delicious - I had the shrimp scampi scramble which was so good and the homemade toast (aka loaf of bread) was really yummy. The hour long wait to get a table, and half hour+ wait to get the food was not so fun. Apparently there are more tables in the restaurant than the kitchen can handle, so many sat empty while we waited which was not so fun. I would recommend the food, but if they say there's a long wait, just know that it might be (way) longer than they're even saying.

Hans Muench

By far the best blueberry pancakes and lobster eggs benedict so far in Maine. Cappuccino is excellent, too, as is the friendly service. Highly recommended. Within walking distance from the tourist areas.

Morgan Bush

This place is adorable, the food is delicious and the service is great! We came here st the Sunday rush with a party of six and were sat within 45 minutes. The cinnamon bun pancakes are to die for — get a stack to share for the table because they’re amazing but rich! We also loved the crab cake benedict. Yum!

jay snow

Excellent food and service!

Alex Collins

I always have an incredible brunch experience here! The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. The prices are also a bit less than you'd expect for breakfast and brunch! I highly recommend the pancakes with bourbon maple syrup. I find heaven in each bite

Noel P

Delicious eggs Benedict. Worth the wait (about 45 minutes). No reservations, so come early and be prepared to wait.

Jessika Gaddis

Very dark and the waitress git our order wrong and it was 100$ and didnt get asked if we want our orser right

Leah D'Antonio

Pretty average all around, not sure why it's so popular

Travel Explore Live

DELICIOUS Lemon Blueberry French Toast, Great Service. Highly Recommend!

Brittani Rebeiz

Great atmosphere. Don’t try to come here with group, too small to accommodate. The selection of eggs Benedict is incredible. Anything else is super small portions. I asked for no meet and no potatoes and to get fruit instead of that and they charged me an extra $6 for half a cup of fruit. Very expensive for the amount of food you get. Best dirty chai around though!

Dayne Morris

The Lobster Benadict was cooked perfectly!!!!!

Hank Salvacion

It's a lovely setting with really tasty food.

Brent Miller

Lobster Eggs Benedict was amazing. Crab Cake Benedict substituted with Cajun Hollandaise was even better. Unique Crab Cake flavor, truly special. Beautiful interior, friendly staff, great coffee.

Mark Rowe

Really fantastic service from Andrew - super nice guy and gave us lots of tips for the area. Genuinely seemed interested and friendly - big thumbs up from us! Food was great, best brunch we’ve had in Maine - we had the eggs florentine and the honey siracha crab cake benedict, both were really tasty, and massive portions! Would definitely go back and would highly recommend!

Cassius

One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had

Amanda Voigt

By far the best breakfast spot I have ever been to. I would travel to Portland just to eat here. Always excellent service and absolutely amazing food. A must stop for anyone visiting Portland.

Haley Shbeeb

Food is amazing. Kitchen is slow. For weekend brunch, plan on a 1.5-2 hour wait from when you walk in the door to getting your food.

Michel Battaglin

The portion sizes here are patriotically ridiculous. It's great. I love it. And it's good, too.

Sokly Soeuy

I love their corn beef hash!

Robert Bohn II

Wait: 45 minutes when there were multiple tables open.. not sure what the strategy there was. Food: 6.4 out of 10 (nothing special) Service: 7.3 out of 10

Ralph Gabarro

Incredible breakfast choice. Excellent food and the waitstaff was exceptional

Karen Zhao

I love their 3 potato home fries!! I recommend any breakfast item besides pancakes and french toast. I did not care for their french toast, they use a very heavy and dense bread, which was just too much. The Cinnabun pancake was a bit tough, I could not finish it.

Jordan Raitses

Okay food, okay service. Didn't think the eggs Benedict or corned beef were amazing or impressive. Also, they keep people waiting for an hour or more while half the restaurant is empty (no reservations either). Not worth the wait/hype.

E. M.

The Lobster Benedict was delish! Had a single lemon and blueberry french toast paired with coffee Bloddymary!

Linet Awolana

Wonderful experience! Amazing great food, and staff who are kind, competent and thoughtful!

David Coco

Great breakfast

chris francis

Don't know if anything but the bloody mary is good, because it took an hour and 20 minutes to be seated then over 45 minutes to be served any food. I hope this alerts somebody, cuz I'm sitting on the upstairs deck right now.

Lilly B

Go early it's a wait.

Rachel Montgomery

Popular brunch spot that is particularly crowded in the late morning waits between 30mins-1 hour. There is a man who walks people to their seat he is seen coming up and down the stairs and he is who you give your name to. They have a small waiting area with water and coffee. The food was great and the drinks were big. Breakfast cocktails were $8. The eggs benedict was good but the cinnamon pancakes were incredible!!! Highly recommend. We had a great waiter. He was Very attentive to detail and so friendly. Great experience. I would gladly come back. Only downside is there is only street parking available here.

James Schillinger

Jumbo pancakes that were super mucho delicious! Everyone was super friendly and when I come back to Maine, I will be stopping here again!

Brittany Wilson

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. And everything was very impressive. Delicious food & drinks. You are even able to get yourself a cup of coffee while you wait for your table. Atmosphere is very pretty. Highly recommend.?

Jason Dzikiewicz

After eating breakfast for over 40 years, this place earned THE BEST FOOD award in my book, and the service is amazing!

Braeden Settnek

Great Food! Friendly service! Comfortable atmosphere! The wait to be seated and to get our food was long, but it was 100 percent worth it. There food was cooked to perfection! They have special home fries made with sweet potatoes that are delicious! The eggs benedict were amazing! The eggs were cooked just right. I was greeted by a smile and left with a “Have a Great Day Every Day!”

Charles Naut

The portions here are very large and the staff is super friendly. It's a great place for brunch. The establishment has a quant vibe and feel to it.

G to the B

Really good food and good service in an appealing environment. I've only been once, for brunch, so this isn't a very well rounded review. However, the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict was damn near ideal. I think it's the best expression of a non-traditional eggs Benedict I've use, and I've been casting that net for over fifteen years. The salmon was perfectly smoked, heated, crumbled and nestled under the eggs. There was enough to get the flavor out front but not so much that it overwhelmed the eggs and hollandaise, which were prepared just right. The dish was served with nicely seasoned home fries. The cafe is in an old building and some effort has been made to keep it's original charm. It's a nice place to sit and imagine how the building might have been used 150 years ago. I look forward to returning to the Bayside American Cafe next time I'm that far South, and I happily recommend it to anyone looking for a more inviting and less frenetic brunch than Becky's.

Petra Thacker

Food was plentiful and very tasty. All the classic breakfast dishes plus interesting variants. Super friendly and quick service. It can get busy, so get there early if you want to make sure not to have to wait.

Martin Landry

The food was good and the wait wasn't bad. They offered coffee while waiting and the atmosphere was nice. Only thing is try to be there before it opens and don't expect much if you are looking for a good espresso (I'll blame that on the server).

Erin

The Eggs Benedict here is one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Great comfort food, lovely atmosphere, love coming here with my girlfriend when I'm in town

TW

Everything was great here! Homemade bread made in house. Crispy thick cut bacon. REAL corned beef hash. Quality stuff and friendly service! A+

Nun Yabinnis

Easily the best breakfast in Portland, hands down.

John Noonan

Delicious eggs benedicts.

Francesco Farinella

This place is amazing. The cinnamon swirl pancakes are a favorite. The Bayside burger is a great burger. Call ahead if you can. The service is the best in Portland.

Dan Potash

Very nice staff and comfortable room. Ordered the hash, which was the meatiest hash I’ve ever had, and the Louisiana Bayou Benedict, which was good.

Tara Espiritu

Great service with attentive and accommodating staff. Delicious eggs bene and scratch made corned beef. Yummy house made bread. Would definitely come back.

Bryan Martins

Amazing fresh tasting food and great specials. This place is very vegetarian friendly with lots of options to satisfy most people. Good drink selection and charming place with lots of character. The only negative I had was that their tempeh was very bland, just needed to be marinated a little or something. Otherwise the food and the service was outstanding. Will definitely be back

Autumn Storteboom

Long wait but worth it. Got the root vegetables with sausage instead of the tempeh - delicious. There is coffee and water available to you to help ease the wait.

Adriana Espinal

Andrew, our waiter, was fantastic and SO hospitable! Told us about a few cool places to check out in the area and offered really good advice. The food was super delicious and the service even better. Yummy coffee, GOOD BREAD. Would come here again!

Clayton Carter

I loved the crab cakes. Great waitstaff.

Daryn Daniluk

Friendly Atmosphere. Great food. Kid friendly.

Scott Thomas

As much of a location experience as a food experience. Great offerings - although I went with the Louisiana Benedict and maybe should have done the regular. I don’t think the corn pancakes added much to the overall flavour. However, my friends have the huevos plate and waffles and both were excellent! Excellent service.

Charles Naut

The portions here are very large and the staff is super friendly. It's a great place for brunch. The establishment has a quant vibe and feel to it.

Lauretta Gooden

Finally was able to beat the early Sunday morning rush. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with my Mimosa. My Sweetheart always takes me to lovely, intimate places that have great food and great service! This place is definitely top choice for breakfast when visiting Maine! Loved it!

Cindy Butterworth

Long wait on a Saturday morning was well worth it!

Sandy Bonney

Owners, staff, and chefs care about your eating experience. Worth the wait.

Nate Ferrell

Great food in a quaint setting. Easy to find, decent parking all around.

I am never happy when I end up here. Family is usually looking for a place we can all sit together. Food ingredients are over-thought & over-ambitious for the level or cooking skill at this place. Nothing ever tastes right. Service & seating is slow. Always feels crowded & cramped even when I've been there with small parties.

Michael S. Kennedy

exceptional food, wonderful service and very accommodating. Everything they have is worth checking out! Very quaint and comfortable.

Cassy Gardner

Amazing people, service, and food! Cannot day enough positive things about this place. Wish I lived in the area so I could be a regular.

Justin Ashworth

Incredible Breakfast and Brunch! On the savory side, the eggs benedict dishes are all wins - can’t really go wrong with any of them. On the sweet side, the cinnamon bun pancake is superb. The wait for a table can be on the 30 minute plus side, but hang in there with some delicious coffee as you wait.

Devin Littlefield

A wonderful cafe with a nice variety of meals that appeals to every type of eater. Would recommend getting there early as the space is quaint and might require a little bit of a wait if you get there after 8am. Otherwise, my wife and I loved our veggie homefries and roasted root vegetable breakfast plates! Would highly recommend for the couple or small family looking for a nice meal.

Scott Balak

Really great food, but expect at least a twenty minute wait. Food is worth the wait. Staff is very friendly and always busy. Portions are huge.

Kevin Gilgan

Always the best!

JC Jackson

Longggg wait. 1 hour on a Sunday at 10:30am. Food was excellent and worth the wait. Try to sit upstairs on the back porch. Or just upstairs. Beautiful place.

Regina Valeriano

This little spot is a gem. We'll definitely be back.

nicholas knight

STEAMPUNK CAFE!!! Very cool post & beam construction inside.

kitcatvt

This place was a nice surprise as we passed through town. Great atmosphere, friendly service and the food was amazing. Not much for Vegan options but they did work with me.

Megan Townsley

Literally the best Eggs Benedict you will ever have, ever. There is always a line but it's worth the wait. You are paid back ten-fold in good coffee, amazing customer service, ambiance, and THE BEST FOOD EVER. Ive been here 19 times, live 1.5 hours away and never give a second thought to doing the drive for this meal. Their morning "adult beverages" are also spot on. Not over priced for the while experience, but if you're solo footing the bill, don't be a party over 5 people or your wallet may feel it. They pack leftovers like ninjas and you'll dream of Bayside in your sleep.

Sheena Gamage

Amazing food and service

Ryan Curington

Hands down the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. The smoked salmon is out of this world. By far the best tasting salmon I have ever eaten. (The lobster Eggs Benedict was also incredibly good.) It is a very quaint place with an eclectic feel. Well worth it. As a tourist, I could not recommend it highly enough.

Daniel DeNinno

Quaint and beautiful inside, great food, waitstaff was so nice! Got a mimosa and it was huge and delicious!

tigeryse12

Favorite breakfast of anywhere, ever, and I'm pretty hyper critical of breakfast quality for expense, honestly. Everything I've eaten here is clean, fresh, creative, and DELICIOUS. I live 3 hours away, and try to eat here each and every time I'm in Portland. The benedicts are my favorite, and I don't even like pancakes, but their cinnamon bun pancake is an exception, it's amazing. My son got the strawberry stuffed French toast and devoured it. The service is also very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is welcoming and homey. The only downside is the wait that I usually hit, but that's the side effect of being so good at what they do. Make sure you have up to an hour to wait, at peak times, even on week days. The answering machine says they take reservations on weekdays, but I was unable to reach anyone to make a reservation when I tried on a Tuesday. We still went, just later to avoid the morning rush. Don't miss this place, wait or no.

Samantha Hunter

Can not wait to go back! So delicious!

Daniel Ramirez

We came in early on a Monday morning. It was somewhat bustling yet cozy and home-like. The staff was super friendly and provided A+ service. I would go back just based on our experience with the staff and I haven't mentioned how good the breakfast was. We were warned about the size of the pancakes but we still took on the challenge. Be warned: the pancakes are large, hearty and tasty. They should definitely be shared. Everything we had from eggs to sausages, coffee/rocket fuel, toast, etc. was all very good. Definitely a must visit if in the area or simply driving by.

Our party waited 2 hours for service because we were excited about the menu and the location. Upon being seated, one member of our party listed her allergies to the waitress. The waitress then proceeded to say “oh boy” while our party member talked through her needs. To accommodate the allergies, a clean pan would need to be used in order to avoid cross contamination - the waitress (who is also a manager that needs an attitude adjustment) then told us that they were too busy to clean pans. It is extremely concerning that this establishment does not have enough time to wash a pan to accommodate a life-threatening allergy. Very disappointing - do better!

Leah Riviello

Fantastic food! A long wait but we were prepared for that and it was well worth it. Good business practices. Friendly and efficient staff!

Colombianbig 89

Best breakfast I had definitely recommend this place and this breakfast Louisiana bayou, it had me wanting for more. To bad I live in NY. If I ever come back to Portland this will be my go to place

Marcos Rivera

Excelent Food and Service

Becky Mitchell

Superb and with vegan options! Worth the wait!

Giffy

The best egg bennys I have ever had. Usually a long wait but its very worth it if you are willing to. Coffee while you wait helps. Some of the local homeless can be a challenge but stay respectful and hopefully give them a much needed positive hello.

yomarie09

Delicious food! The line is incredibly long every-time we go but its because its so good.

Drew Breau

One of my top ten places in Portland. Great food, I highly recommend the chocolate waffles, and a mimosa. Unfortunately no parking and they can tend to have a long wait. But it is worth it!

J.T. Doscher

Really great Benedict's. Some of the best coffee. Had a spiced apple cider mule that was very good.

Andrew Eason

By far, one of the best restaurants I've been to. Had to wait 20 to get a table, but no biggie. Super friendly servers, AMAZING food. Worst part about the place, they close at 2, so get here early!!!

Kenton Mast

The atmosphere, food, and drinks here are just incredible. Can’t recommend this place enough!

TJ Grist

Great brunch. They offer coffee while you wait.

Renny Itwaru

We pretty much has everything on the menu...and it was all fantastic. Great service, great atmosphere and amazing food and drink...

Derek DiGiacomo

BEWARE! Giant fluffy pancakes! Easy for first timers to over order. But my goodness! 6 star breakfast.

Melissa Colcord

Had a really great day catching up with my best friend at this charming restaurant in Portland, ME. Upon arrival, the place was packed, but it was Saint Patrick's Day so we expected this. They told us that it would be an hour wait, and my friend assured me that it would be worth it, so we agreed to wait. Thankfully we found two chairs side-by-side next to the coffee station, and sat there browsing IG while we waited. They were right, it was about an hour wait but it WAS WORTH IT! I had the BLT with smoked salmon, and my friend had over-easy eggs, white toast and bacon. The BLT was one of the best sandwiches that I've had, easily the best BLT. The smoked salmon was a great touch, and I am very glad that I listened to my friend!

Ajia Zimmermann

Horrible service. Rude to large parties. Manager was extremely rude and unwilling to accommodate for severe allergies.

Nathan Wilson-Braun

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and hearty food; all of the necessary ingredients for a lovely and leisurely weekend brunch spot. After being greeted at the door, we were led upstairs to a dining area that felt both rustic and familiar; it was like being welcomed into the living room of a favorite grandparent. We were offered complementary cocktails after a miscommunication between the staff led to a (very) brief delay in service. The cocktails themselves, selected from a lively and varied menu, were excellent. The "staff favorite" Louisiana Bayou, a Cajun variation of eggs Benedict, did not disappoint! There's nothing like a successful twist of a timeless classic.

Adam Gimpert

Delicious breakfast, great service. But get there early or wait.

Kathi Shibles

Amazing food, great service! We'll be back!

Dwelvan David

Delicious. Well worth the (@times 2hr)wait.

Teddy Price-Wharff

My favorite brunch place for more than 20 years

Yuval Yeret

Great crab cake and lobster Benedict. Worth the trek off the beaten path away from the port area.

cory plante

Setting the bar high, a standout in a city full of culinary exploration, well worth a 30 min wait on a Monday morning. If you take the endeavor, you're welcome.

Ashley Dede

Super friendly staff! We got the crab cake benedict, lobster frittata and a cinnamon bun pancake. Everything was super delicious. I also recommend the Rocket Fuel latte.

Zach Davies

There’s always a pretty long wait, but it’s well worth it. Absolutely the best breakfast place in Portland. Fantastic atmosphere. Great food.

Vivian Z

Spicy chicken sandwich was amazing. It was not dry, perfectly seasoned, came with home fries and a pickle. What better way to start your morning.

Austin M.

Bayside is probably my new favorite brunch place in Portland. If you haven’t given it a shot I highly suggest it. It is a very small cafe and can get crowded fast, for shorter wait times I suggest dinning on a weekday. On a weekend expect to wait an hour or more. I ordered Cajun eggs Benedict, and my wife had a BLT that was very generous on the bacon. The food was fresh and cooked just the way I asked, also their pancakes are the best that I have had in the area.

Shawn Huber

Best eggs Benedict around, highly recommended

Pedro M Fernandez

Best breakfast in town. Great service

I've been going here for years. Great breakfast. Don't pass on the corned beef hash. Good luck finishing the full order!

Cotie Rocchietti

Amazing.. Can't wait to go back!

Ivan Schmidt-Vitale

A bit of a wait on Sunday mornings, but worth it. They offer coffee while you stand around so it's not that bad. Excellent food and service. The corned beef hash is made from a Black Angus cut and very tasty, great french toast with blueberries and (questionable-looking, but fine-tasting) lemon curd icing.

Food was delicious, the seating outside is gorgeous and the staff was friendly & attentive!! That spinach breakfast salad has some magical dressing on it I swear

Renamed but classic breakfast spot in Portland. I ordered 2 pancakes bc who orders 1? Got 2 massive pancakes that were each at least 6 inches in diameter and nearly an inch thick. So it's a smart choice if you're super hungry or want to feed a number of small people a big pancake.
