Walked in and was greeted nicely. Went down from that point. Little girl taking our order seemed aggravated my fiance had questions about the menu. Total our order before we were finished. Was told, "Now I have to give you a separate ticket!". Found a table in the corner and a young man literally dropped my fiance's salad on the table. When thanked him response was a "No problem" as he just turned and walked away. Server who brought out our entrees was polite. Food was Ok. Not really equivalent to the price. Had much better seafood in Lake Charles for way less. Would really not recommend this place. Employees seem as if they are being forced against their will to work here with the demeanor the exude.

Good and fresh, but greasy. Registers were down when we went, so ordering took forever. Nice staff. Lots of seafood options. Funky and fun atmosphere, but needs a deep clean. Good for groups and families. Dessert options of cake, cheesecake, pralines, ginger planks, and fruit hand pies.

Very unorganized, crab legs where bland and rubbery, crawfish pistol was phenomenal, waited 30 minutes for a catfish plate ($11.99) and never got it so my family and I Walked out without tipping. Definitely needs some organization and leadership. Also you order and tip before you receive service which I do not like. I tip after service is completed!

The food was good and service was great!!! Upon arriving my group of 5 was welcomed and greeted with menus and directed to a register to order and receive drinks. After ordering we were helped with seating for our group and our ticket number was placed on a stand for quick food delivery. The food came quickly and was hot. The apps came first, as they should. I had the large Captains platter and it delivered as promised. Nothing to complain about here even the cocktail and tarter sauce were delicious. I took advantage of the unlimited sweet tea refills. Empty plates were taken away promptly and our server was quick to fulfill any need. This will become a regular stop for my family!!!

really really really disappointed the service is confusing and chaotic to say the least the decor is fun and reminded me of Adam Sandler the Waterboy's house, I kid you not. the sausage was dry, the crawfish were small, the crabs were small, the shrimps were good. Asked for hot but got mild. Over priced. Packed house but sorry food. Pricing makes it disappointing

Definitely lived up to it's reputation, the food was outstanding. Showed up and there was a huge line but was able to get seated quickly and the food came quickly. One thing that threw me off was the way tipping worked since you order at the front counter and they seat you after. Didn't expect to have an actual server but if I had known there was one I would've added more to the tip at checkout. I would recommend bringing cash to tip the server appropriately.

Oysters, shrimp, fish, crawfish, boudin balls... they have it all. It is a busy place, so a 10 minute or so wait is usual. Definitely worth it. Service was excellent. Thank Isaiah for us.

5 stars all the way around! I’ve been coming here for years and it’s great to see the food is still phenomenal. Crawfish and crab are full of flavor not saucy but flavor flavor flavor! Came by while I was in LA again - this place is great for fried seafood and some cajun dishes (like the red beans & rice), and if we're just basing the rating off that, it's a perfect 5. The only thing I would change is the sides menu - perhaps it's just me and my sensitive stomach that cant handle lots of fried food, but when the only sides really avaliable are fries, more seafood, lightly fried bread, and coleslaw, there's nothing light to go with your meal. You cant get fried shrimp and such with some plain steamed vegetables on the side or anything. But if you're not bothered by this, then this place is great! The fried shrimp is great and the red beans & rice was amazing - it's been awhile since I've had a good bowl. It's not super spicy, but it's also not just tasteless, so it's good even if you dont like lots of spice.

I loved my meal at Steamboat Bill's. If you haven't been you need to experience it. I suggest trying the Shrimp Pistolette from the appetizer menu (see pic). Also my shrimp platter was awesome. The reason for the 4 Star rating is because my spouse's fried fish didn't have a lot of flavor (to bland) so he didn't enjoy his meal option as much as I did mine.

The food is good, that much I can say. Deep fried whatever-you-like, rich and savory Cajun bowls, and heaps of fries made our bellies full and happy. Our wallets, not so much. The meals seemed significantly overpriced, considering that the service was relatively poor, the atmosphere loud and chaotic, and our party was rushed through the ordering line with haste pushing the boundaries into rudeness. Overall: we liked it okay, but will probably try something else next time our tummies are rumbling for seafood in the area.

Fried shrimp and fried catfish were excellent as always. Also had a stuffed shrimp and a stuffed crab which were good, but not very tasty. Have had boiled shrimp and crayfish in the past and they are always very good. Also had their gumbo and etouffee in the past and always very good. I can't visit Lake Charles without making a stop at Steamboat Bills. The seafood gumbo is tasty. And so good to know that their fried fish is catfish and not tilapia. (Is that even a real fish?!) This location has plenty of parking and lots of eating room.

A group of us went to Steamboat Bill's after a funeral. They allowed us to go into a small semi private room. We were able to sit and enjoy our meal, while sharing stories of our loved one. The food was delicious. The alligator bites outstanding and the homemade dip was incredible. my husband and I were able to share a fried shrimp and fried catfish combination platter. Everything was so delicious. thank you so much for accommodating me, our family and friends.

One of the best local spots! Truly one of those restaurants that you go to when you're from out of town. It has local flair and fanfare. Fresh seafood, served up all different ways. Don't worry, there is more than just seafood. In my opinion, best gumbo and pistolettes. Easygoing cuisine and atmosphere, why wouldn't you want to go here!

The atmosphere is incredible. Don't let a long line be a deterrent, get on the list and they will get you a table quick. It really doesn't take long at all to be seated. The food is impeccable the service is even better. Anyone who passes your table will ask if you need anything. The crawfish were huge, cleaned very well and seasoned to perfection.

The system at the door is a little different. Be patient and you will be enjoying good seafood in no time. I had fish and shrimp and a buddy had crawfish. Red Beans and rice we're on point and everything else was great. Great service. Highly recommend this place!

Delicious! Order at the counter and they bring it out to the table. A good amount of people, but they are well organized and there is plenty of seating. I had the fried fish with the shrimp etouffee and it was so good! My hubby had the gumbo and said it was good. The kids meal is generous and my little guy enjoyed his popcorn shrimp. Stopped in finally and had the seafood platter. You get in line and then you order and they bring the food to your table. When the food comes you are told you have a waitress but its kinda confusing if the place is all self serve or you will have a waitress come by for refills. They seem to be very organized and have the order process streamlined to be in and out. You are given a number and they bring the food to you. Had the seafood platter and everything but the stuffed shrimp was hot and fresh. I would go back again.

I would love to give this place more stars but when they forget to get my order (and I ordered first, rubs me the wrong way). The cashier was not great, they seemed too worried about some one else getting the drinks ready FIRST for them, to care about really take your order. Good thing they read the order back. The food is good, and servers are helpful. I'm sorry that the cashiers' cause them to get a lower tip from my group.

This was our first time coming to this resturant, we opened the door and were asked how many then handed menus the hostess said we have to order before we can be seated then were given maybe a minute before asked if we were ready (we weren't being our first time) so we were told move out of the way for the people behind us. We asked if we could get our table as we looked over the menu the hostess rudely responded No! You go to the cash register and order THEN you can be seated. So we went to the cash register where we were just pointed to go, still undecided on what to order and the cashier seemed impatient with us so that led us to just leave! I've never been so confused at a restaurant. I feel like if the hostess and/or cashier would have been friendly or at least helpful it would have helped our experience. Needless to say we won't be back to this location!

Ordered Fish fillet and Rice and red beans. The fish was really good. Very hot temperature wise. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The seasoning was delicious. The roll was very delicious as well, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Coleslaw that came with was good as well. Rice and red beans was good, but unfortunately is was very salty, that in combination with the seasoning on the fish was overwhelmingly salty. If they didn't put so much salt on the beans it would've been great. Also, for such a successful place (as far as I know) they haven't even bothered in investing on a better A/C unit. The place was crowded and very hot, the smell of sweat was a bit bothersome. The wait time was ok. The food was worth the wait. The soda had a weird metallic taste to it. Not sure if the machines are being cleaned properly or if its the water being used for it. I would definitely order again from here, just not for sit in. Better off ordering to go.

I have been dining at this location for about twenty years. The boiled crawfish is among the finest in Southwest Louisiana. The fried shrimp and fried oysters are never disappointing. The gumbo is always good. This place recognizes the need to have many employees therefore the waiting time is minimal. Another improvement is hand-washing sinks apart from the restrooms. Typically an associate assists with parking during peak hours. We typically bring out of town guests to dine here.

I ordered the fried alligator as an appetizer and the butterfly shrimp platter for an entree.the server brought the butterfly shrimp platter out first I had to ask where the alligator was. Shortly after the entrees came out the appetizer arrived. I asked for a refill of Pepsi he brought me tea.the fried alligator was okay I will not order it again. I did like the fried shrimp they were nice size and they tasted good. I'm not sure if I appreciate how you order while you walking in the food took a long time to come to the table they were busy. If I was reviewing the fried shrimp alone I would give four stars. But as a whole my experience was worth 2 stars.

First of all I absolutely love all Cajun for. This place was something special though. Those crawfish were spicy, but didn't leave my mouth on fire. Then the snow crab legs on the side were perfect. If you're about that cabin life, this is your place. The only thing I didn't like was that you have to order before you sir down, but I got over it pretty quick. I'll definitely be back

Boiled shrimp and red beans and rice was good. I am gluten free and that's about all I can have. It was a definitely high in sodium. Blood pressure was up later that day. Everyone else appeared to enjoy their plates. They have a pit boss directing the traffic going in and is good at her job. They were all very nice people.

At first it was a rush through line. Had to order drinks first and then food. Once ordered you find a table and wait for your order. Minimal wait for food. Food was outstanding and the service at the table was great. I would return if back in the area...we were traveling through town.

This place used to be great. This stop was horrible. Crawfish were very poor quality. The seafood platter was terrible. Fried oysters were cooked in a wade with raw flour in the middle. The stuffed fried shrimp tasted like nothing I have ever tried to eat. The stuffed crab is some mass produced frozen product you would find in a chain fish joint (Long John Silvers). The pile of frozen French fries are cooked in mass quantities. It was just a pathetic meal. Sorry but we will never be back. It was a great place years ago. Do not believe the lady and her sons still manage the place first hand.

I ordered a Medium Shrimp and Fish Platter. Prior to ordering the fish I asked the cashier what type fish was on the plate and they said Catfish. When I received my order, Swai which is a lower quality fish was used in the place of Catfish. The Swai is a fish raised in another country normally in poor conditions. I've eaten at Steamboat Bill's a couple of years ago and the quality of the food was much better. It's sad to see a restaurant such as Steamboat Bill's not using locally sourced products in the preparation of their meals. We will not eat there again.

They got every order wrong. 3 of us. More rice than anything else in my gumbo. Potato salad was mostly just mashed leftover baked potatoes with mustard added. Way to pricey. Had to wait for tarter + red sauce. I will say they have good rolls. If your lucky, you'll have a nice lady named Tiffany to get cha some butter for it. We got our own to go boxes. They were putting chairs on tables all around us. How rude! "THINK" they were closing?

First time trying this place out while in lake Charles and definitely will not be the last!! My friend and I ordered a few different items and everything was delicious! The catfish, which is something I don't eat often was delightfully crispy and flaky. Crawfish was tasty and the gumbo was amazing.

Not sure how this place received such good reviews but the food did not taste good at all to us. The servers at the door were nice and attentive because there were alot of people there. The diet drinks tasted like carbonated water, returned for a replacement and the replacement tasted just as bad. Cole slaw was warm not cold! Seasonings on our shrimp, oysters & fish tasted like unseasoned flour, yuck. We came all the way from Jacksonville FL and visited this place while driving through to Texas for work. I'd say, if you think this place has good seafood you really don't know what you're missing until you come to Jax FL and try theirs!

The line to get in was out the door and it was packed inside. The was good and the staff seemed to time everything reasonably well. I did notice it was hard for them to find the table receipt tag. Waitresses kept walking back and forth looking for the right number in which the food wasn't as hot as could be. But it was pretty good regardless.

We had party of 8 on early Sat. nite & had to wait outside for 20 minutes. It was our first trip & not too excited waiting another 10 minutes to order at the cashier station...what a slow process. The place was packed & tables are crammed together. Since the wife can't have anything spicy we split the small seafood platter which gas some spicy & some not. The stuffed shrimp & stuffed crab were tasty but small. The fried fish was uneventful & shrimp were good but small, certainly not medium as advertised. I meant to try the gumbo but 4got to order it in all the chaos. Also they return your cc tip in cash to leave on the table. This is a pain I don't need. They just don't want to be responsible for the admin hassle of distributing tips to the staff which is not the customer's problem. All in all might go back on a slower day to try other spicy dishes but as far as voted #1 in La, don't see it!

Don't leave Lake Charles / Westlake until you stop by! Their famous bread is HORRIBLE for your diet but GREAT for your tastebuds! Love the atmosphere, the food is great(you may need to add a bit more spices to your liking), the desserts are fabulous and the customer service is good!

My family and I visited last night and we were a little confused to ordering and paying before eating, but I LOVED that part as I was able to leave when We finished eating. Crawfish were really good, I wouldn’t say great because they weren’t freshly cooked per order, I’m assuming, as they were warm not not from a boil. Fried mushrooms were to die for, would recommend to anyone visits Lake Charles!!!

Nothing really special here. Just your standard fried seafood and average tasting Cajun food. The one plus side is the chicken wings! They are so good with no sauce!
