You must have seen that it reaches an opinions average is virtually the best one, and it is based on a large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is quite accurate. If many people have bothered to rate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

Amazing food, period. Turtle soup was more than I expected, it was so delicious. The soft shell crab was tasty. Service is amazing. Great meal and it's right next to the swamp tour. Highly Recommended. You will not be disappointed.
Food was good. But the waitress put a $40 gratuity on the ticket and did not notice she did that. I turn around and give another $40 tip. (I was Furious.) * After l can say that when the management or owners read my review they were very kind to notify and resolve this matter in an instant. You can tell that's not how they do business. Food was delicious and sure to go back in the future, the waitress was very kind and respectful as well. We ask for this only to be teaching worthy not for anyone to lose their job. = Honest mistakes
Excellent food and very good service
This place is wonderful !!!
You can’t beat the ambiance here. The food is also delish!
Really good looking place nice food.
The food was AMAZING,and the atmosphere is phenomenal. I will be back again♥️♥️♥️
I went to a 50th Anniversary Party. The three ladies waiting on us did a great job.The wait service was excellent. The food was very good. They deserve five stars.
Being going to the hidden gem for a few decades since they opened, its been a good while since I came down from the East coast. This is FINE DINING with food that is as expected, FAR ABOVE EXCELLENT! The value, the staff, the patrons, all fantastic people from all over the coast. The Saturday Brunch....DAMN!!!!! Endless Champagne...We the Alligator stuffed mushrooms, salad, and soft shell crab (YOU GET 2!) that are bigger than my a man hands. The crabs where cooked JUST RIGHT, Battered JUST RIGHT! Delicious, absolutely mouth watering, and we brought 1/2 of what we ordered as we were in fear of having to roll back to the door and car as we where as stuffed as anyone can make themselves. Our waitress was awesome, very attentive, and a professional in every regard! My advise, order whatever you want, it's all good!
Everyone suggested this place to try, so my expectations were pretty high! Unfortunately, the food fell short. It was good, just didn't completely WOW me like I was expecting. I'll still give 4 stars for the view, and the service and would probably try again if in the area.
I got the stuff chicken, gumbo, Caesar salad and bread pudding. Everything was excellent except the bread pudding was dry.
My experience this past Sunday for lunch was in sharp contrast to the posted reviews I read. My wife and I drove nearly an hour to try this place. It's a very nice building in a nice setting and our waitress was great. That's all that was good. My wife ordered the Crab Cake dinner. The cakes looked, smelled, and tasted like those "processed" cakes that Winn-Dixie sells sometimes (I tried one, they are terrible). These were too. As former restaurant people, we don't send food back, but my wife couldn't eat it. She got the Catfish instead. I got the Half and Half with Catfish and Fried Oysters. The Catfish was just OK. Not fresh, but not bad. The kind of catfish you can get just about anywhere. The fried oysters were old and bitter. How can they not be serving FRESH fish and oysters where they are located??? They were very gracious and did adjust the bill. I just wish the food was as good as the people. I hope you have a better experience than we did.
The food was delicious and the waitresses was very pleasant and helpful. We had an awesome experience. Third time going as a group and we keep going back.
We had the Sunday cava brunch. Delicious. We were three so we got to try all entrees. proportion were adequate
Good food and good atmosphere
The turtle soup was really good. We also had the salad, which was super small and looked like it was just taken out of a bag and plopped on a plate. Maybe my standards for salads are high from living in California. But it was literally a mix and plopped on a plate with a few tomatoes and old cucumber. If you're going to charge over $10 for a salad, it should look like there is a little effort put into it. Service was good. I think this place is a little hyped up and overpriced for what it is. Maybe it's just because there's not that many places nearby.
Good food, prices are way higher than similar places.
Fantastic. This is my favorite restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Servers were friendly and efficient.
Very interesting restaurant and wonderful hospitality.
Great food. Best example of staff working together. It was a please to see. Thanks you staff.
The gem of the swamp! This place was recommended to us and we couldn't be happier to have started out here! My wife and I are both gluten free. They had a nice gluten free menu and we're attentive to our needs. The food was excellent! The Cajun redfish with the jumbalaya was amazing! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We definitely recommend this place for travelers. It's good for families as well.
Good food ,good atmosphere.
Besides the food being excellent, the people that work there are so very welcoming. Loved it!
Excellent southern experience, it's so lovely to seat on the patio and not having to listen to someone else's music, just enjoy yourself and listen to the birds while sipping and cold local draft..
Very accommodating. Brought my family here during Mardi Gras for brunch. Was able to add an extra seat for us last minute. Food and drinks were phenomenal.
Lovely setting with large picture window with full view of the swamp behind the restaurant. That alone is worth the visit. Tasty Good quality food but felt they skimp on serving size and service for the price. Example: one piece of fish side and salad $24. Didn't even come with bread. service was poor with no offers of drink refills.
The food was very good
Had a truly enjoyable evening there. The ambience and food were very good. I had the turtle soup and crab cakes. Both were delicious and the servings were big. I will definitely will be going back.
Great food, atmosphere and service
Delicious fried catfish and huge fried shrimp! My platter included a side which I chose to be grilled asparagus. You also got a side salad, which I chose the wedge. The bread and meal were delicious. The seating area had huge windows with a view of what is part of the bayou. It was reported that at times you get to see alligators come to visit. The restaurant is in Crown Point, Louisiana and out by the bayou. It is open every day from 11:30 - 9PM with a Sunday brunch 11:30 - 3PM. Make sure you make it out ! You will not be disappointed!
One of the best ribs eyes I have ever tried. Amazing view of the swamps around from the restaurant.
Great food...I attended a brunch Christmas party there for the third year. Food is very good but a little heavy on the salt for my taste! I had the surf & turf...filet & grilled shrimp...both were delicious!
Great food and wait staff
Super adorable house with an amazing view of the bayou! The food was really delicious too. Really loved it!
Arrived with a group of 15 for lunch on 8/12/2019. An employee with family sat steps from our table. Midway through lunch the employee, or a member of her party, placed her baby on the floor and proceeded to change the diaper in plan view site of the entire restaurant. When reported to management (that's when we were told they were employees) 2 staff members that were working approached their table. Will never return this was unacceptable anywhere!!
The food and the service was excellent we had a party of at least 30 people
The food always delicious, one of my favorite restaurants
Really nice place on the edge of the Bayou with a great window looking out on some greenery. Lots of good food options at a relatively decent price for the portion sizes. Staff was friendly, and food came out quick. Would recommend if you are in the area!
Love this place! Great view of the bayou while dining. The Sunday brunch includes champagne and multi-course options for one price. The crabcakes, gumbo, and seafood platter were FANTASTIC! Actually, everything we ate was delicious. We will go back often!
I was looking for a new place to try on the Westbank. Two of my coworkers told me about this place so I decided to try it one Friday evening. We were greeted as we pulled up into the parking lot. If one makes reservations in advance, one can get a table that overlooks the swamp. My hubby ordered the smothered catfish and I had grilled redfish. Both were topped with crawfish tails and a side of homemade jambalaya. We also got the chocolate chip bread pudding which was a little too rich for me. Nevertheless, the food and service were awesome.
Beautiful decor, excellent food and wonderful staff. Highly recommend
Good food and atmosphere
Great atmosphere warm and friendly waiters. Enjoyed the food and time spent there. It was a truly pleasant experience dining at Restaurant des Family.
Food was overcooked in one instance and undercooked in another. My bill reflected more alcoholic beverages than my party consumed and thus had to be adjusted. Service was inattentive at times, which contributed to a less than satisfactory dining experience. The food was overpriced in comparison to a similar styled restaurant named Mandina's which consistently serves a higher quality product with more attentive staff at more reasonable prices. This restaurant is off the beaten path and I would not recommend driving to this remote location for this level of product and service. I sincerely hope des Familles improves because this place has the potential to become a hidden jewel.
Ate lunch here. It was excellent. Good food. Cool building. Really nice grounds. Chargrilled oysters were great.
Great food in a wonderful setting.
Delicious! Great service! The shrimp poboy/seafood gumbo combo was awesome! Friendly and helpful bartender! Will be back!
Certainly not a five star restaurant. The setting is very nice overlooking the swamp where they have alligators. The food is good but overpriced. The service is bordering on the mediocre. The decor is the best money could buy in the 1990s when the restaurant first opened. You get a nice meal but you don’t get the service or ambiance that you will get for the same price at downtown New Orleans. Did I say that this place is way out of town?
It was Father's day and there was a special menu. It was a five course meal, from the appetizer to the dessert. Everything was great. We had the grilled cayfish foster and it was delicious. This was my first time here. I would definitely come back. Service and atmosphere was great and do was the food.
Love this place. Great food. Awesome location and friendly staff.
Decor is great & exhibits the true scene of swamp environment. Food was fresh & delicious. Food was a little pricey but portions were big.
This restaurant hands down is the best! The staff was exceptional and just down to earth. Brooke is the owner and she is the coolest woman I have ever met, and her husband is the chef and his culinary skills is marvelous. If you are looking for good food, good drinks and good people this is the spot! Kelsey one the waiters is the realist out there and will make your drink to perfection and keep it real with you! The whole place has this your at home feeling and you are in good hands. Even the other guest eating there was nice. We are from Texas and not once did anyone make us feel like we were out of place. This place made us feel like we were family. We will definitely be back to experience this restuarant and make more memories!!! Thank you to everyone at this restaurant! Brooke keep doing your thing cause this restaurant is not like anything we have ever been to before, not even in Texas! Thank you again!!
Food was delicious
OVERPRICED and the food was mediocre at best. The service staff was pleasant but SLOW AS MOLASSES. It took over an hour to get our food. When we went to leave I passed by the kitchen as someone was exiting and glanced inside. It was filthy dirty. Ick!
Who ever washes the dishes is a caring individual so clean
Had Mother's Day Brunch and it was excellent. Brook and staff are wonderful. Would to everyone.
Great food and superior service
Really family friendly atmosphere. Pretty good food too.
Restaurant des Familles was a tasty stop after going on an airboat tour. The location was convenient and the food was pretty tasty! Our server was very friendly and attentive. I would absolutely recommend stoping by if you're out in the area.
The food was so delicious, fresh and service was great. Festive and fun.
Appetizers cold, waitress not very attentive Entrees very good and dessert blah.
Really delicious food. Cool swamp views.
Delicious food! The last time we went, we couldn't fully finish our drink when they were already bringing us another fresh one! Waitresses don't hover. They typically have immediate seating. Dining room faces a bayou with wildlife which has an alligator that lives in it! Nice quiet place for a bowl of gumbo or a romantic meal for two!
Lovely place to eat with great food a d nice scenery
We happened to find this restaurant during our visit to the bayou and Im so glad we did. The restaurant its self is beautiful and the staff was incredibly friendly. The food was amazing!! This was one of my top two favorite restaurants we ate at during our stay in New Orleans.
A surprise find coming out of the swamp tour. Wonderful.
Fantastic... Don't miss it
Great food and atmosphere. Had a party of 20 for my birthday. Waitstaff was great and attentive.
We live near this restaurant and love to eat here. My current favorite menu item is the steak wedge salad. The blue cheese dressing is made in house and to die for!! Also, I love their gumbos, both seafood and chicken/sausage. We sometimes order the gumbo in a gallon to- go for parties and it’s always a hit.
This was our first time and it will not be our last. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. The view was great. Just as great the food was so was our service. Overall our experience was Awesome
Fine dining. Fine food. Beautiful restaurant. We were treated well. Very professional.
The food is great and it's one of family's favorite places to host special events. I would recommend the Sunday brunch.
Amazing food and service! Great Gumbo and Shrimp po boys. Highly recommend this place.
The food was very good.
Love the food and atmosphere
Nice place great service and excellent food
The food is excellent staff is great, every one should go at least once...
Recommended to go here by Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours. Get the alligator stuffed mushrooms! They we're so good!
The food is great as well the wait staff
Really good and beautiful setting.
Excellent food excellent servers Kelsey is fantastic
Sooooooo cute but the cats have to go..
It definitely had a European feeling to it. The staff was very professional. The food was amazing. This restaurant is on the higher end, but definitely worth the money.
Food was fresh and very good. Service was great. Overall good experience
Great service and food!
Friendly servers, nice scenic environment, AMAZING FOOD.
Excellent food and great service
This is my favorite place.
Nice place, good food we even saw an alligator while looking out of the window.
This place is a little out of the way if you're in New Orleans, but it's certainly worth the drive for the excellent accommodations, food and service. Ask for a window seat and you can dine while overlooking a swamp with alligators and all sorts of Louisiana wildlife. Definitely a unique experience instead of the typical French Quarter fare!
Always great food, great service and beautiful surroundings.
We had a lovely lunch here after our Jean Lafitte Swamp tour. It has very traditional New Orleans style seafood dishes, which we love. And you can't beat the gorgeous view of the swamp.
Thai place is great for a lunch or dinner with friends
Great service, excellent friendly people. So glad they take “FOOD STAMPS”
Fished all day and brought some of our catch here for them to cook for us upon recommendation....very good but honestly we would have paid same amount for meal if we didnt provide the main ingredient for meal which was the fish.
Everyone in New Orleans should try this restaurant. Love eating the wonderful food while looking outside at the beautiful scenery
The food was absolutely the best I ever had in a resturant. I had the half seafood platter. The crab ball was a little salty but I don't like salt. Service was good and food was excellent.
I really enjoyed the food
One of my favorite places!
Great food, great service!
Our meal was amazing. Even with a packed house and a wedding party the kitchen still got our meal out in a timely fashion. The BBQ shrimp and grits are out of sight. The staff was very attentive as well. I will definitely be going back there again and again.
A neat place with good food and great service!!
Lovely setting. Good service. Lunch menu limited. Pulled pork sandwich and shrimp poor boy both good. Excellent fries. Wish I had time to come back for dinner
Such a fun spot while your visiting Crown Point/Lafitte area. New Orleans flavor of soft shell crab and white chocolate bread pudding with a picturesque view of the bayou.
Good food in a nice setting. For being a bit remote this place definitely deserves a visit. Very good service and excellent food.
This was my first time there and the food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Would recommend to everyone!!
Great place. Great service. Nice view. Seafood Gumbo and red beans were amazing.
Nice place with a variety of beers to choose from while you enjoy some of their appetizers. The calamari is pretty good.
Good food as always, a little disappointed where we were initially sat. When we made our reservations, we put in it was our wedding anniversary, we were seated next to two very loud and big holiday parties. Something a little more quiet and romantic would have been nice.
Great food, friendly service, price right
Everything was Great
Very good food, service wonderful... beautiful atmosphere
Delicious!!! Had the Gumbo soup (chicken and sausage) could eat that all day for days!!! Great service, delicious food a must visit while in NOLA!
The food was amazing and the service was friendly and quick! The large windows gave us a beautiful view of the swamps!
Good portions. Food was prepared very well. A good choice for lunch after experiencing and air boat tour close by. Staff could have been more friendly.
Beautiful restaurant with amazing view, delicious food and very well priced. Everything was so delicious!
We went here after taking a fishing charter. Brought in a bunch of our red fish and they were more than happy to cook it up for us. Goodness were they good. They make all their own sauces (including all the salad dressings) and I cannot believe how good they were. And to top it off a gator crawled out of the swamp and chilled in the sun as we ate. Would highly recommend stopping here
Great service. Food was delicious .
Worse place to eat ever. We were seated and no waitress came to our table. Finally one came and said no body knew we needed to be waited on, really. Then get my food, baked potatoes cold and my steak that I was charged $33.00 was burned and dried out. Drove 1 hour to get there, never again, horrible. Manager offered me a free dessert. Couldn't even eat their food much less get more food from them to make up for the dried out steak!!
The setting was wonderful, the service was very good, and the yard alligator a wonderful touch. Everything else left me with unmet expectations. We went to Sunday Brunch, five courses and $100 for two people. We were in and out in 45 minutes; it was not exactly a relaxed dining event. The spice mix used in the kitchen was very good, but by the third dish using the same mix, I was bored. The alligator, crab and turtle all seemed to be the same meat, or perhaps it was the fault of the ubiquitous spice mix. The dessert, a pecan and dough creation, was so bad I stopped after about three bites. It appeared to be under cooked. Be aware, outside seating overlooks the herb garden and gravel parking lot, not the bayou. I will not return to this establishment nor recommend it, as it was a poor value.
Awesome ambience! Amazing service! Excellent food!
Good place for groups
The atmosphere was inviting. Our server had no knowledge of the beers available. She asked the right questions throughout our experience, but even though there were only a handful of people in the restaurant, she really didn’t demonstrate any personality. The food was not good. The Alligator stuffed mushrooms was akin to a mushroom stuffed with grey stuff. The Gumbo had only two shrimp that were drastically over cooked. The PoBoy was served on stale bread. You know it’s bad when the owner comps your meal...but doesn’t take the time to come apologize for the bad food. A free meal, so I tipped very well...though our server didn’t earn it. Sadly, both my wife and I feel nauseous...I guess time will tell. Never again.
Nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The inside window seats have pretty view to the bayou. We were there for the lunch, they have lunch menu. We ordered the oyster po-boy and seafood gumbo, which was very delicious. We already recommended the restaurant to our friends.
Good lunch with a view. While the decor looked dated and a little dingy, the food was real good. Nice waitress. But would have been nice to know that oysters were going to be really small. Desert was tasty.
Good food...cute restaurant...the patio is wonderful in cool weather
Very good!
Very nice atmosphere, service, and delicious food. A bit pricey though.
