Took a long time to get our food. Food didn't have any sides included. Seemed kind of odd that when you order off the "meal" menu (not the a la carte) you still don't get any beans, rice, nothing. Completely different than the other El Rancho I have been to. I was assuming they were all the same.

Very good authentic mexican food! One of the local favorites here. Staff is friendly, but barely speaks english so use your context clues! Never have had a bad experience here. Love their enchiladas. My partner adores their fajitas! Definitely recommended.

The food and service were right on time! I had the vegetable Quesada and it was delicious! Stuffes with queso cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers and onions! The atmosphere was nice as well.

I'm Mexican and recently moved here from California and I can tell you the food is Mexican but leaning more towards Tex-Mex. Bottom line it is pretty good! I usually go for the fajitas which are massive so you have lunch for the next day and they do offer made from scratch yummy salsas, but you have to ask for them. Some are very spicy so tread lightly.

We were very pleased with the food and service. We got seated as soon as we walked in, on a friday night at 7pm. We were served chips and salsa VERY quickly. We placed out order and it was delivered pretty quickly. The food was cooked well and was really good. Will be going back!

Our family loves to eat at El Rancho! The chips are great--light and not greasy and we all love the salsa and cheese dip. Portions sizes are large. My husband and I can share the chicken fajitas and it's plenty for both of us. The service is great and prices are very reasonable.

Get the heckin' queso, don't deprive your taste buds. Waiter was quiet but nice. Had the chimichanga and beef tacos. Definitely recommend. A+ Also, very festive and colorful.

The salsa was incredibly bland and the food was severely over salted. I tried to eat light with a shrimp salad taco, but the veggies and shrimp weren't grilled, they were pan fried and extremely oily. The shrimp in the taco salad was so salty it was nearly inedible. My husband had the shrimp chimichanga(sp) meal, and had the same complaint. And it wasn't just the shrimp portion. He said even the rice was over salted, and he was unable to finish anything on his plate either.

Two words to keep me coming back: Mushroom Quesadilla!!!! I really am not a fan of Mexican food, but mushrooms I love. Even my friends and family that don't like it love coming here. Heck I was the one that introduced my parents to it. And it is a go to for my dad for great food now.

A hidden gem. The service is always top notch. The food is delicious and abundant. I highly recommend the tacos al carbon and the enchiladas are not to be overlooked either. Finish with a dessert, if you can. It's worth it.

For someone with the taste of Latin, Hispanic and especially Mexican dishes, I give only 2 stars. They are much closer to Chuiy's TexMex out of a frozen refrigerator than an real bar and grill. Not even close to authentic. Pon el sabor en la comida.

Most of the food was good but the portion sizes are a bit small for the money. 6 bucks for tree leeches that is about 3x3x1 is a bit ridiculous as well. Service during lunch wasn't the best on my visit either.

The restaurant is great, the environment is nice and mild with traditional carved seats that sport Mexican culture. The food at this establishment is good as well. Edit, the restaurant is still great and still serves great food.

Customer service was great. They were attentive to needs without overcrowding. Unfortunately, the food was blah. Not delicious nor gross just bland. I look forward to the blends and spices of traditional Mexican food and this place did not deliver. Plus their chips were not warmed and no variety of salsas.

I like the food at this restaurant. I occasionally eat at the one in Baton Rouge and the one by the interstate in Denham. It has been awhile since visiting the one in Denham. I chose to go here over a place in Hammond. Bad choice. While the food was good as usual the service was horrible! To have my waitress make eye contact with me knowing I was trying to get her attention then turn to talk to one of her coworkers and then turn her back and walk in the kitchen. Then as we were finished and waiting forever for her to come so we could ask for a to go box and the ticket. She was passing our table on the other side but never looked at our table. Had to ask another waitress for a to go box. Got her to our table to bring the ticket as two of us got up to leave and left the 3rd to take care of the ticket b/c otherwise I was going to loose it! I will be eating somewhere else. I enjoy good service as much as I enjoy the food. Very disappointing.

Not as good as I'd hoped it would be. I did like the the Steak Quesadillas as the outer part was crunchy. Everything else was Not good. The Guacamole was so ground up, I couldn't eat it. The Children's Chicken Nuggets were frozen out of a box. The Refried Beans were ground up so fine like a soup. The Sweet Tea was Tooo sweet &, ZERO SMILES or, ENTHUSIASM! Not a returning customer. $$

I like the food here but cannot go sit in the restaurant and eat. The overbearing smell of Fabuloso makes me sick therefore i have to order takeout. The restaurant on Florida Blvd. In BR doesn't clean with the Fabuloso so i am able to sit there and enjoy my food versus having to bring it home to eat where the food has now gotten cold. I prefer my chile relleno hot and fresh but unless i go to the one in BR i am unable to eat it while it is still hot.

Only eaten there once but the food and the service was very good. There's only a handful of Mexican restaurants in the area that are worth checking out and this is one of them. Plus they have a very vibrant decor going on that I think everyone will enjoy.

The service was not that well, and they have a sign out on the window saying when happy hour is and they talk about margaritas, not what kind, if ordering a Ranbow margarita expect to pay full price during happy hour. They expect the customers to ASK what margaritas are on the list for happy hour and ONLY THE HOUSE MARGARITA is on it!!

Hands down the best traditional Mexican restaurant in Louisiana. Food is consistantly wonderful, staff is courteous and attentive, prices are great, dining area and the rest rooms are clean as a whistle! I enjoy the Carnitas plate or the Carne Asada plate every time I go. I've been told by family members they have the best fajitas, I know they smell really good and are sizzling hot when served. The decor is traditional as well...makes me feel like I'm in Ensenada when I'm there. HIGHLY recommend!!
