新奧爾良深度遊: The food is 4.4 stars Price is $$$ The ambience is good, the servers are friendly as well. It’s like a local restaurant which serving good French meals for many years. Good place for dating!!!!

We stopped here for a beer and water mid bike ride. Very friendly staff and a bubbly beer that doesn't break bank

Great mid city restaurant. Small but great food! Love the salad nicoise. But everything is great. Some outside seating. Easy to find and easy to see from road. Parking is a little difficult and be very careful where you park so as not to get a ticket. This is a delightful restaurant....enjoy!

Great French food. Will definitely return.

Great Saturday Brunch Spot 100% locals Grits & Grillades A Ambiance A Location A Cost B+ Deserts A Overall A

Elegant yet casual setting.

Beautiful French food! Romantic dining area that feels like a treehouse. Cafe Degas is a special place we have enjoyed since the early 90's.

Food here is fabulous!! Service is really great.

Wonderful food. Really, really enjoyed our lunch there. They very kindly found room for an unplanned party of seven. Great service.

Nice cocktails and outdoor seating.

Great food and great service in a beautiful restaurant. I highly recommend Cafe Degas!

Loved the pate plate and the mussels. Very casual and cheap and cheerful

Good food and service

Had a wonderful brunch here! Very friendly staff and delicious food. I think my favorite thing was the boudin noir which was paired with a tarte-tatin.

Amazing the best escargot and soft shell crab. Topped it off with shared floating island dessert and flourles chocolate cake. Excellent

Quaint neighborhood restaurant. The steak I ordered was tough, overcooked, and dry. I sent it back and they took it off our bill with many apologies. Everyone else in our party had excellent food and it was delicious. The drinks and wine were excellent as well.

This is my first ever restaurant review, but was appalled at the service at a place that I USED TO like. Last night was a Disaster! The busboy not only spilled my club soda on me but broke the glass.all over my food, table and lap. Then he asked me if I was still “picking” at my plate. Like I want to eat glass? They acted like it was no big deal and barely apologized for it. I should had asked for the manager, but did not. I had fun with my friends, but will Never return. Also my filet was tough and over-cooked.

Nice people Delicious food

Perfect date spot with great French fare.

Been going to degas for years wonderful food great wines nearby the museum.

Cafe Degas is a really special place and sits atop my personal list of favorite places in New Orleans. The food is excellently prepared and beautifully presented. This visit I enjoyed a sumptuous pork tenderloin, perfectly cooked and served over wild rice and braised vegetables and drizzled with and incredible wine sauce. The very French menu overall always delights and the staff is knowledgable as well as attentive. It's hard to beat this jewel of a restaurant located in mid-city just blocks from New Orleans Art Museum and tucked in among the grand homes along Esplanade Ave. 5 stars all the way!

Just one of the consistently best places. Great date spot. Cozy, romantic. Great mussels!

Always a great meal with great atmosphere.

Amazing French food sith an excellent wait staff.

Love love.

Fairly good food, ambience is nice. Our server was a little rushed

Eat after church. The food was excellent and the mimosa was also tastee

This place is wonderful! So cute and quaint outside with great lights and trees and other plants. It's situated on a corner so from the outside it doesn't look that big but there's plenty of space inside. The food was absolutely delicious and I loved every bit of it!

Had such a wonderful experience here. Wonderful food, romantic atmosphere, impeccable service, and and the nonchalance of the dining room tree is just so charming!

The quality of this place, which used to be one of our favorites, has really gone down, while the prices have gone up. Their softshell crab entree, which used to be large and lightly fried (served on a bed of greens), was small and so over-fried that the flavor was mostly of burnt coating, not crab. My wife's veal was similarly over-fried. No one came to ask us how our food was after it came out, to give us an opportunity to give feedback. Later, midway through the meal, when the waitress showed up to take something off of our table, she dipped the fringe of her stylish leather wrist band into the remainder of my entree.

Always great service and delicious food

We decided to try having dinner at this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Everything started off fine. We were seated quickly, our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. Bread was brought out and as I began to butter it, I felt like something was crawling on my arm. When I looked over, there was a big, fat palmetto bug on the table trying to get at the bread. I HATE roaches; they terrify me. Not wanting to ruin the dinner, I swiped at it several times (that thing was aggressive!) and eventually got it to go away. We had a delicious beet salad and then the main course was brought out, which was also excellent. I do have to remove a star, however, due to the lack of vegetarian friendly options. There is literally one meat free entree on the menu. I then went to the bathroom, where I was confronted by another large roach. I tried to move as little as possible (those things can fly) and got back out to the table. As we were waiting for desert to be brought out, a roach climbed up the empty table opposite us and flew right for me. I got up, let out a scream, and stood up to try to get it off me. My husband started looking over my clothes and it seemed as though it had flown off me. What amazed me was that no one noticed; no one asked why I screamed and got up. We ate our desert quickly and left before any more roaches could get at me. I don't know if I was wearing something that attracted them but it was hard to fully enjoy myself because I was worried about when the next roach was coming by. Not sure if the other reviewers are locals and these palmetto bugs are simply a way of life and other people had them crawling on their tables? Here in Florida, we also have palmetto bugs but I have never before been to a restaurant and had them crawling on my table and flying at me. For what we paid for dinner, I definitely expected more. I am removing another star from this review due to the roaches. The food was excellent, but my whole experience was soured by roaches. Seems that I am simply not one for this sort of fine dining.

Go try everything, this is a fabulous local place. The Chef, Laurent Rochereux is amazing. You will not be sorry!

Delicious French cuisine with great service

I will start by saying from the outside this restaurant is quite an eye catcher, and being that we are from France I was very excited to taste this “ French” cuisine. As soon as you walk in there is a foul smell of humidity, I understand that this is the south but if you are going to have an outside concept, please take humidity into consideration. Due to the humidity there are extreme signs of mold all within the interior not to mention dust and cobwebs all through the ceilings. Looks like the place has never been deeped cleaned. As for our waiter she was lovely, as for the others it was a common attitude face and no interest in giving good customer service. For the food it was ok but just because it has a french name does not make it french. Maybe too expensive for the quality as well. I honestly expected more given the french culinary is renown. Will not return not because of the food but specifically because of the mess and smell the restaurant had.

Dimly lit and they take pride in fact they don't split checks. I mean it was the only time my waitress showed any enthusiasm at all. The food was average and overpriced.

Walked in without a reservation and was lucky enough to get in! The food here was excellent! Eggs rowan were delicious, the staff was also very friendly and accommodating.

Great place, great salad. Make a reservation

One of my favorite restaurants for a great meal for two. Can be quite romantic.

Had the nicoise salad, its good but if you have had another really good nicoise it doesn't stack up. Also had the pate platter which is excellent as is the french onion soup. Staff is warm and friendly but seems a bit rushed. Price is a bit high but it seems to be in a trendy area. Do not skip their desserts!

Amazing yet relaxed at every level. Great place for any reason... We had the kids with us and were pleasantly surprised how mud they enjoyed it too. Sara, our super attentive and friendly waitress made us feel like an honored guest in her home. We won't ever miss the opportunity to return when in New Orleans. Another plus? It's in a beautiful peaceful New Orleans neighborhood. Uber back to the fun chaos of Bourbon St after an exquisite meal at Cafe Degas!

Wonderful food. Came for brunch, called ahead a few minutes for a table for two. Don't let them take you outside to the back, it feels like you're eating in an alley beside a house. We asked them to move us and they obliged. We sat next to the famed tree that grows inside the restaurant. Would recommend for brunch. Call ahead, get a reservation, it was easy for us.

Quaint French restaurant with good food and service. When they are busy, it is noisy. It is a bit cramped, too. I had the onion soup, which I enjoyed, covered with Swiss cheese, a different twist. My wife and I had the crab salad, very nice, light entree. We skipped dessert this time, but had lemon icebox pie last visit, very nice. Give it a try, but not at peak hours and call for reservation.

I loved it. I had a rabbit leg with parsnips and carrots over a hearty roux and it was to die for. The whole place somehow feels fancy AND homey at the same time and it feels open because of the clear plastic that drops down instead of walls. However because of this, the air conditioning inside is excellent. Its a small small place with a tiny outdoor area in the front and a tiny bar area. Great food! Good service. Pricey but hey. Its worth it. Adorable little date for two thats classy and casual.

Ambiances is a 5 food a 3.5 to 4, service 5 nice date restaurant, pretty good for brunch. Nice that it's outside of the French quarter and it isn't as crowded in the area. Finding parking was easy too.

Amazing food. One of the best restaurants in New Orleans

The food is amazing, especially the dessert! The cafe is very cute inside. I love the tree in the middle and the open walls. It's always festively decorated for holidays.

Wonderful place full of fun, fine dining and wonderful people. Owner Jacque is so kind. Food is the best in New Orleans. Can't wait to come back.

Cheese board and Brandy ending were excellent!

Can't really say I was super impressed. The food for the price was so so. Not very creative or competitive for the current culinary explosion happening in Nola. But hey... If you're a neighborhood staple I guess it doesn't really matter? Service was great. Wine was excellent.

Always fantastic. They currently have $18 two course summer specials. Get the french onion soup, the moules frites, and leave room for their delicious desserts

We went with a large group that ordered most of the menu and everything was great! This is a very wonderful location for an excellent lunch or an intimate dinner. We had great service as well, I would definitely go back!!!

Yellow fin tuna was delicious. Sparkling wine at $5 a glass—sweet. I love you, Cafe Degas! Wait staff terrific.

Classic theme, sidewalk dining, great cuisine makes this place feel like y'all are in the 23rd arrondissement in Paris.

Fabulous Sunday brunch, maybe the best escargot i've ever had! In a great neighborhood. Great little place!

I really enjoy this place. The hangar steak is great, as is the brussel sprout salad. They have Kronenberg on draft and a great wine selection that won't break your bank, unless you want to! I believe this is also the only restaurant in NOLA with a tree growing through the roof!

Always delicious. Perfect unique cozy spot. Naturally the French Onion Soup is incredible but their fish specials are always a sure thing.

really amazing atmopshere, cosy and classy

Absolutely loved this place! If you are looking for a piece of paris, this is it! The atmosphere here was very European and I loved the outdoor views. All of our food was excellent! The seared scallops were made to perfection, the steak was juicy and cooked exactly to our liking. I will for sure be back. Made for an wonderful date night!

Great atmosphere, great food and great service! Best mussels in town!

Fantastic flavorful wonderful food

Excellent! The lamb was delicious. Try the onion soup, it will not disappoint.

Very romantic restaurant, great selection of drinks and delicious french food!

What can I say? Most romantic place to eat in New Orleans, food is great, wine list is perfect. The lump crab salad is my favorite, and I also like the mussels (and I normally hate mussels).

Wonderful dinner with wonderful service. The lamb was delicious and the meal very good. Enjoyed the dark chocolate torte. All was exceptional. Will be back again.

Our (French) server was fantastic. He did a great job and the food was delicious.

Food was amazing, service was not. Had a waiter named Sebastian that ignored us the whole night, even left us there waiting to pay for over 10 minutes after he brought us the bill. If you do go, and Sebastian is your waiter, just leave.

Great local place , good menu selections, reasonable prices,

Service was great, the foodrunner with the mullet was particularly sweet, ambiance and noise level were good. Entrees were a little disappointing. A side of plain unseasoned and not fully cooked veggies came with the crab crepe, the crepe itself was good, but wish the asparagus inside was a little more tender, or maybe just buds instead of two long asparagus running through the whole crepe. Dessert was fantastic, loved the lemon icebox pie

Charming spot. Rich French/New Orleans food. Wonderful to be in a place slightly away from French Quarter!

Always a great place to relax and dine. Great service great drinks and wine list. Very comfortable place be.

Cafe Degas has a wonderful French feel (Edith Piaf was singing la vie en rose when we walked in). The mussels, the French Onion soup, and the soft shell crabs were exceptional. The kitchen was very accommodating when I requested "as little salt as possible". The restaurant is handicapped accessible with a ramp and attentive staff. The wine list was nice, and the servers suggestions were spot on. All the food was prepared fresh and served at the same time. Nicely done.

Fantastic food and service. A bit expensive to be a regular place for me, but reasonable enough for treating yourself on a date or with friends

Food was excellent. We had the pan seared sword fish and the braised pork off of the rotating menu. Service was also great. Our server recommended some awesome desserts. Come early we went on a Wednesday at opening for dinner, and by 7 the line was long.

The best, like being in Paris.

Traditional French Cafe with cosy 4 seat bar and small dining room. The French onion soup is top notch. The hanger steak is always a good choice. Nick Verisco the bar tender is master at his craft.

Such a cute place, below average service, slightly above average food. If your a foodie, this is disappointing.

Have been coming here for lunch for years. It's always wonderful. The setting is peaceful & the service is impeccable. Love the escargot & the hangar steak. Had the special savory cheesecake today...yum!!

What a treat! Escargot, mirliton crab bisque, and raspberry chombard cake all for $27. (Lunch menu) the French bread ahhhhhhhh the French bread. My new favorite place.

This is our go-to place for private celebrations like a job promotion, quiet weekday birthday, lunch with the girls, etc. We always use a Groupon and it helps with the bill

The homemade ravioli was delicious. It had crawfish and mushroom in it with arugula and spinach. We also had the hanger steak and chicken with the lemon beurre blanc. The restaurant place didn't look like they would serve such delicious food but looks can be deceiving. My BIG PROBLEM though is when my son dropped his shoe on the floor, my husband went to pick it up and there it was a COCKROACH under the chair on it's back with its feet wiggling! EW YUCK GROSS UGH! I hate cockroaches my biggest fear! I mean I know restaurants probably have them all the time especially for a restaurant like this but I just did not want to see that!!!! That is disgustingly gross just yuck! Even though the food was amazing, i just have to do 2 stars because of that!!! That's not very appetizing. I'm so glad my husband told me about it after we were done but still just not something you would want to see in a restaurant!

Excellent ambience, service and cuisine. A true gem in New Orleans. They never disappoint.

Amazing eggs Benedict. No parking lot.

Amazing meal at reasonable prices. The service was perfect, and though this is a small cafe, there is charm to the decor. We went 2 times while visiting NOLA because it was a lovely quaint place off the beaten path. Highly recommended!

Sat at the bar and had a couple drinks to wash away the day. Wonderful. Back with friends for dinner later in week.

Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, french music playing softly in the background. I highly recommend this place, it's a whole experience.

The server took my fork. I can’t say that I was too happy, but I could see people who prefer eating with spoons enjoying it.

Very nice local brunch place! I liked the quiche and the atmosphere.

Great atmosphere, bread, food, bread, drinks, bread, location and I think I really liked the bread they served.

Perfect French cuisine. Friendly service. Consistent menu.

Always a lovely time. Great food and personable service!

Place was crowded and our order to the kitchen somehow got lost, but the food was quite tasty

The worst in town. Got a catapiler in my water and the manager just shrugged it off.

Food was great, ambiance was fantastic and prices are amazing. Sorry I was so eager to eat my food I dove right in before I snapped my photo.

Great little French bistro. Tiny place, eclectic decor. But good food and great service. Unfortunately, the NY strip steak my fiancee ordered was extremely tough and gristly. They offered the hanger steak as a replacement and it was fabulous. Crepes for dessert were the bomb!

Delightful decor, romantic, great food quality. Servers attentive, helpful, and unobtrusive. An outstanding experience!

Wonderful place to eat!! Exceptional quality, love their staff, ambience can be romantic despite the fact it's very busy. The appetizers are wonderful, the main course is of perfect portions, the desserts are fabulous. I love this restaurant!!

Excellent! Waiter was almost!! Drum was delicious. Will definitely take the drive from northshore for Sunday brunch.

Chelsea was awesome! She was so fun and made the meal a great experience! The food was great and atmosphere was so cute- best first meal of the city- the next restaurants we visit will have a high bar to set!

Never disappointed! Always excellent!

Everything I have had was awesome. Delicious

My favorite restaurant!

I've always had great experiences at Degas, but last night topped them all. We had a table of about a dozen women drinking and eating from 6 pm to closing and loved every minute. Our server Gustavo was perfect; incredibly attentive and at the same time low key and unobtrusive. We had a very special night that I know we will all look back on as one of the best!

Enjoy sitting in a garden like cafe with professional chef food.

The Soup 'Onion El Gratin is a bit mushy.

Came here after visiting NOMA and was delighted to be seated near the tree that my lady was constantly talking about. The service was top notch! Very attentive wait staff that were constantly near by to take care of our needs. It is a little cramp in here but I enjoy it due to the fact you can hear other great conversations about city life.

The escargot was incredible, the guy behind the bar was great until my Mussels came back with a lot of aioli which is not listed on the menu and was not mentioned when I asked him for the description. I am a foodie have had mussels from several restaurants these were not worth the price point at all! Great service tho, friendly atmostphere. Will not be going back again though

They could hold the door for you.

One of the best restaurants ever.

Great atmosphere and menu. An original Degas painting would enhance the experience.

I went to the nearby art museum in city park and kept the entrance sticker from there, and Cafe Degas included a free glass of champagne with my dinner. That was a fabulous surprise. Also, the food was delicious. The full dinner menu isn't available until 5:30PM, but the small plate menu was still filling.

Service was superb and atmosphere was excellent. Cheese board and pates were great! Most at my table of 8 raved about their main dishes. My lamb shank was a bit dry.

Love the vibe and the casual good service, not to mention the great food.

Lovely brunch the hanger steak was excellent the lump crab omelette tasty it had real crab but not lump crab but was very tasty none the less the bloody Mary's were refreshingly tasty not spicy so a second round was called for because they wouldn't give heartburn lol

Wonderful French food everything was perfect

What a gem! This place is adorable and cozy, and the staff is super quirky and friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and humorous, and her wine pairings were spot-on. The place can feel a bit cramped (and often IS actually crowded); some of the tables are a little close together. Our food was delicious and came out hot and fresh.

Great happy hour

Not as good as it has been in the pass , steak was way overcooked and not medium.

Excellent food, phenomenal service, and beautiful ambience!

Cafe Degas is truly a French restaurant experience. Outdoor cafe-style seating, French cuisine, and exceptional service make for a great dining experience. It is probably not for everyone, and if you’re seeking a fine dining experience you may be disappointed. If you’re looking for an upscale French cafe you’ll love it! We tried the veal and hangar steak, and both were cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. No, it’s not Cajun and creole cooking, so don’t expect those flavors - it is traditional French cooking, and they do an excellent job. Just remember it is called Cafe Degas, and expect French cuisine and great service, and you will thoroughly enjoy this restaurant. Go expecting a lavish dining room and Cajun/Creole and you may be disappointed. Tip: Great date spot, not a particularly great place to bring the children.

good food. fair prices. friendly staff

Very good food selection and the wait service is outstanding. The place has a great ambiance and the food we ordered was delicious. The dessert was just OK. I'd go back for dinner or lunch again at this place.

Very poor food, (burned bread, overcooked pasts, low quality meat). Lazy service. A very bad experience overall. I cannot understand how other feedback is so forgiving.

I'm giving 1 star because my food tasted like someone poured chemicals over it. The staff was weird and we didn't have the greatest service. We didn't complain about the food just wanted to get out of there.

This was actually pretty good. Slow service but delicious food!

I visited for Mother's Day and was quite impressed with the quality, cost, and customer service that we received. The staff was terrific and the menu was superb! The escargot is some of the best I've ever had, as are their muscles. The brunch menu contained a great twist on Eggs Benedict, it was quite refreshing. I definitely recommend a reservation no matter what day you choose to dine here.

My crab salad was nice but the vinaigrette could not be found. My friends both enjoyed their entrees and the desserts were lovely.

The food was delicious! Service was good.

One of my favorite places in New Orleans. The charcuterie plate app is high on my list of best plate of the year.

I love French food here. Great people. Will definitely come back!

Wonderful restaurant

They serve one of my favorite breads in US and the food is so good!

Amazing food. Great service and ambience

A fantastic option for classic french cusine, but I'd visit for the the great "outdoor" ambiance than the price.

Amazing food, even better ambiance. Open air dining, with a roof over your head. Try the veal!

Good food but a little pricey. Waiter was very attentive and patient with us. There's a tree in the middle of the restaurant so that's cool. Great stop to hit if you're visiting New Orleans.

Man I really love this place.

Absolutely delish. Nola bucket list item.
