Went on a Monday at 5pm. Not terribly busy. Friendly staff, quick seating. Once I ordered, appetizer (firecracker shrimp) arrived quickly, followed very shortly after by entree (2 meats platter - pulled pork and beef brisket, side of Pork ranch fries and vegetables). Everything arrived quickly, hot, and delicious. I'm visiting the area from out of state, but this was a delicious meal I would return to buy again. The seating area is limited, so I could see issues on a busy night - however, it would be worth the wait Thank you!

Seated immediately for an early dinner. Wife had the brisket sandwich, which was outstanding and she brought half of it home because it was so big. I had the pulled pork platter which was enough for 2 people. If you like your pork lean, this is NOT the dish for you. $20 with the tip!!

Has great food, but lacks on keeping pets away from eating areas. The last 3 times I've ate there they allow people to bring pets in outside eating area. I pay good money for good food and expect good service. I do not know how allowing pets in eating areas should be allowed. At All! The dog hair has flew and got to hear dogs barking. I'm not paying for animal entertainment. Pets are more offensive than smoking when introduced around food. I don't like eating hair in my food. I will gladly go back when the pets stay in their owners cars.

I liked the food. The service was ok. In got a combination plate with ribs, brisket, and firecracker shrimp, with some green beans and fried green tomatoes. The shrimp was really good and everything else was too. This was recommended to me by some locals and I was glad I stopped here.

Enjoyed the Catfish Fry. Generous serving with two fillets. More than enough and no need to spend more for the all you can eat option. French fries were seasoned and delicious. My wife really enjoyed the chocolate ice cream.

Terrible waiting almost a hour then forget half the order. Then went to get the rest of are order and it was wrong. The burger we did get was burnt couldn’t even eat it. Definitely will not come to this place again. Dont waste your time.

Pops was very good. My husband and I had burgers and fries which were very good.We had the firecracker shrimp for an appetizer which was also very good. It was very busy and we sat outside.There was a mix up and our waitress didn't know we were out there at first. When she found out she went above and beyond to make sure we got our food promptly..We even weren't charged for our drinks because of the confusion.Good food and fun atmosphere.

The food is good. Portion sizes are inconsistent. A sit down order of ribs and brisket and I have a box to take home. Called in a pick up order, same plate, got 3 whole ribs and 3 small pieces of brisket. Forget about ordering ice cream, just drive on into town and go to Cook Out or Sonic. While the flavors may sound delicious, the cones are going to be melted and unedible. The waitress wasn't much to talk about. I understand that they were busy, like always, but there were two othwr tables outside with two different waitresses and they were more tentative to their tables and us than our server.

Hardly any BBQ on the pulled pork sandwich. Catfish was ok, but nothing special. & they left out the cheese potatoes from the order completely. Live 40 miles away, didn't realize the order was wrong till we got home... Very disappointing. Sure do miss when it was Pig Out BBQ.

The food here is amazing, just 4 miles off of interstate 64. Portions verses price can't beat them wow. Morgan our waitress was amazing, we had a large group and at first sat outside, then the rain came. Morgan was able to get us seats inside and keep up with the refills and all the other requests our group had. Top notch!!!!!

Excellent! Pulled pork, brisket, beans and the service is great! Got the brisket plate with baked beans and veggies. The brisket is sooo good! The beans have a fantastic smoke flavor and meat in them! Served with buttered toast. The veggies were sliced carrots and brocolli

Best brisket I've ever had! Mom and Dad had catfish...huge, lightly- breaded, and yummy. Fried mushrooms also great. Taylor was our waitress and provided awesome service. Nice, friendly, and never let our tea run out. We love great Mom and Pop places and this one is a 5 star for food and hospitality.

I rarely go to pops but me and my wife went today for lunch. Waited over a hour for nothing not even drinks people literally came in after us and had eaten and already left before the waitress admitted she forgot about us even though we were sitting next to people that she brought food to that had came in after us. I know they were busy and I don't care to wait on food but when you completely forget a table and we are sitting right in front of you unacceptable. This is the second time and it won't happen again!!!!!

Waited about 15 minutes for a table. Service was kinda slow but they were all friendly and too be fair they were very busy. The food was really great and the price was awesome. The beer cheese was amazing with homemade chips and pretzel bread. I would return if I’m ever in the area again, although it’s unlikely I’ll be around here again.

We dine here regularly. It's almost always crowded, but hands down the best dining experience in the region. Huge portion sizes (two meals in one), reasonable prices. Surprisingly good beer cheese appetizers and don't forget great ice cream for dessert. Dine outdoors if you can. Great atmosphere for barbecue with Southern rock on the speakers. Owner is always experimenting with new entrees, new equipment, really knows his stuff. Dinner for 2, appetizers and desserts, no alcohol is $36.

We ate here for lunch, and it was fantastic! The positions were huge. I had a half slab of ribs, pork ranch fries, and sauteed mushrooms. The four stars is only because the mushrooms were very strange (more like a peppery soup). The ribs were flavorful and moist, fries were great, and the service was fast. Great experience!

The half of a rack of ribs is absolutely amazing and the cheddar potatoes are so good I got a small ice cream afterwards and it was a mint chocolate chip and it was so delicious the people there were really nice the service was great. We went in there right after we got out of the lake we just drove down there and went in there and ate and it was just really fun are you know in this song make sure you get ribs there

It was terrible. The buns were so soggy u could not pick up ur sandwich and the brisket was all chopped up with huge pieces of fat. The green beans had a huge chunk of burnt meat in it. I wont even get into the service. But the starving lake loving hillbillies were happy.

Amazing brisket! Stopped by last month because it looked interesting and was just blown away by the food and the service. Went out of my way to stop by again last weekend to bring food home to the fam. Used the drive through to get brisket, pork, and ribs by the pound. Worked out great and avoided the parking issue. Pop's rocks.

The food I'd give 5 stars, but overall I'd say 4. It's always super crowded seeing it's such a small place. At times that can cause the staff to get stretched a little thin. The food, and price you can't beat. Highly recommend their smoked wings, and turkey. Always a must when I'm in Morehead.

As a newcomer to Morehead it's good to find out about places like this. I got a brisket and my wife got ribs. The traditional sauce was vinegar based. They also had a sweet sauce. Both where excellent.

Gorgeous day ,has the Turkey club, piled up with Turkey, didn't like the pickles. Food was good. Hubby had the brisket meal with slaw and fresh cut fries. Hubby didn't like the fresh cut said it was to greasy. But you cant please everyone. Reccomend going if you haven't been

Wonderful little bbq place. The service was slow but well worth the wait. This seems to be the only eatery in the area so it is very popular but the excellent bbq is the real draw. GPS the place and stop in when you pass by you will not regret it.

For a bbq joint, it lacks good bbq. Went there once, and I won't go again. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks, 45 minutes for our food. The service was not good at all. The server took our drink order, and 15 minutes later, she refilled another table's drinks, and we still hadn't gotten our drinks. Plus the server seemed indifferent. More importantly, the food was just not good bbq. I ordered the chicken tenders, ribs, and brisket. The tenders were lightly breaded with no flavor. The ribs had a quick cooked feel to them because they were not fall off the bone. Above all, the brisket was boiled or at least seemed that way. There was no flavor at all. It was by far the worst brisket I have ever had, and I love eating and cooking bbq. They only had 3 bbq sauce flavors too. That is just too few. I do not recommend it. Go to another restaurant in Morehead.

Driving down the highway and looking for a place to eat. I pulled up the restaurants near my location and this was number 1 on my list. After reading some of the reviews I was hooked into this place. I decided to try it. Pop's has some of the best Brisket and green beans that i have ever had. I had the pork bbq, brisket, green beans, and bbq baked beans. It was all delicious. The atmosphere is great too, I loved the "down home, southern" vibe.

Nice rustic BBQ place near Cave Run Lake. Small on the inside, but easy parking and even a walk up order window. Menu offers a good variety and prices are great. Inside offers lots of whimsy.

The service here was excellent. A very kind staff that truly wants you to enjoy your experience. The ambiance is quaint. The food is amazing. Between us all we had ribs, brisket, chicken tenders, a loaded baked potato, sweet potato and washed it all down with sweet tea. Everything served was delicious and cooked to perfection. The smoke and bark was there, without being too overpowered for the kids to enjoy. Bottles of regular and sweet BBQ sauce at every table and a huge selection of various hot sauces. What a great place!

Pretty sad when you and another couple are seated for 15 mins and get no service after being walked past 3 times by one of the waitresses! Then two tables of other people come in and have service within seconds by that same waitress! We literally have had this happen twice now and have been faithful customers for along time! I guess it takes Rita there to get service cause that’s the only time we get it anymore

My wife and I had to stop in for first week of the season. Wait staff are always exceptional. Barbecue pork was moist and delicious. Fried mushrooms were great as an appetizer. A bit dark and noisy inside, I could barely hear the music on the sound system. I could hear two TVs and some loud talking guests. Enjoyed the meal nonetheless.

We visited last summer and were blown away by the food. So tasty and great portions. Returned this summer and not sure if the management changed or just the attitude towards their food but was very disappointed on both visits during this vacation. The people were still very friendly, but the food was not. The first visit we split a sampler platter and remembering the portions from the previous summer thought that would be more than enough. Sadly the portions were like from a kids menu and even the ribs, advertised in the menu as 3 ribs, were 1 short. When I questioned the waitress about the missing rib she stated the more items you order in a platter the less food you get and stated the management should probably state that better. When I looked at the menu there was no mention of smaller portion sizes the more you ordered. We made a note not to order that again but was not going to make this a reason not to return. A couple of days later we ordered two pulled pork sandwich combos to go and were ready to devour them when we got back to the room (about 10 minutes away). When we opened the box the bread was so soggy we couldn't even pick them up and ended up using our own buns to remake the sandwich, which was mediocre at best.

The platter portions are quite large and the food was amazing! We got the half rack of ribs and catfish platter which was so good. The service was also super friendly and fast. We waited less than 10 minutes. The loaded fries were top notch but the sautéed mushrooms were more like a soup and had too much pepper. Certain sides may be subpar but overall meal was satisfying. We went back for ice cream later. Seemed a little expensive but definitely great quality ice cream.
