Excellent! As I exited my truck, immediately, I was greeted with the beautiful aroma of bbq. My skepticism, created by experience, led me in disbelief as I've been greeted this way many times and the bbq was sub-par. Upon walking in, the Manager shouted from the bar that was very welcoming and non disturbing. He was very helpful as this was our first time there. Our server was to our table very shortly after we sat. In observing the other servers and the atmosphere of this restaurant, it had a very nice flow from the decor to the exceptional customer care, not service, CARE. It seemed as they cared more about my experience than I did and they delivered it well. The restaurant was not noisy, I mean, I didn't have to talk above my normal volume for the server to hear me. Anyway, I ordered the 1/2 slab of pork ribs, 2 wings and fries and washed it down with a New Castle brown ale and when it arrived to the table I could tell it was legit but my skepticism again took over. I tore a nice piece of the rib off the bone and it was tender. My skepticism was slapped in the face and chased down the road when my taste buds were comforted by the sweet, smoky and savory meat. I was in heaven and this was before the sauce. There were two bbq sauces on the table and one was labeled hot. For me, it wasn't hot but definitely spicier than the regular, however, they were good and complimented the meat well. The wings and fries were good as well. I live almost 2 hours away and I will be making more trips just to come back to Momma's and try more of their menu. You get care from the people and comfort from the food....what more can you ask for?

Service was good and the restaurant was nice an clean. Fried pickles were great. My wife and I ordered the brisket with fries and green beans to share. Sides were good. Brisket was not so much. Tasted like liquid smoke and meat had little to know bark. It's the only time we've ever ate brisket that we left it on the plate and didn't even wanna take it with us in a to go box. Sauce was decent.

I tried the wings which they claim to be the "best in Louisville". While they're good, I think best is a bit exaggerated. I got there early for lunch as I was warned of a long wait otherwise. This food is not worth the 20-30 minute wait some we're willing to stand around for. I think there is more hype about this particular place than there is quality. The service was friendly and relatively quick. If you go plan to arrive by 11:30 or expect to stand for at least 20 minutes.

i had the brisket sandwich with mac-n-cheese and potato salad. The brisket sandwich was OK. It was good but I have had better at better prices. The mac-n-cheese was excellent and the potato salad was really good for mustard style. I prefer mayo style but theirs is the best mustard style I've had. However, the price of 12.50 plus tax was a bit steep for the quality of brisket that was on my sandwich. When I visit a BBQ place I expect to taste the smoky goodness but I did not experience that. Sorrry guys, It was good but I've had better for less money.

The food was really good but the wait to get a table was ridiculous. There were 7 of us and only two tables where they could seat us. 30 minutes turned into over an hour. So by the time we got seated we all were a little salty. But our server was awesome.

This is my favorite BBQ place in all of Louisville! Whenever I'm in town, I try to come here with my sister. We love to get their fried pickles as an appetizer. They're sweet pickles, so it can be a bit of an acquired taste for some, but we think they're delicious. Plus, I think they make the ranch, which comes alongside the pickles as a dipping sauce, in-house. For our entree, we usually get a rack of ribs to share between us, along with some fries and mac and cheese. The ribs are perfectly tender and masterfully seasoned with a dry rub (although I usually find myself putting their house-made BBQ sauce on them, because it's just so good!). This is one of the few BBQ places I've been where I get full *before* I get tired of the meat I ordered. Plus, their fries are delicious. If the range of fry done-ness goes from "floppy and sad" to "crispy and almost burnt", these fries are perfectly in the middle. And whatever seasoning is on them is delicious! Sometimes, we get the whole family to come here. Everyone gets something different, and we all share a little, so we each get to try some of everything. Honestly, I can say with full confidence that you can't go wrong when you order at Momma's. Personally, I'd recommend the fried pickles, the ribs, or the wings (which have been rated some of the best in the country!). In my opinion, you haven't had BBQ until you've been to Momma's.

Best BBQ wings in town, couple that with a draft and catch your favorite team and you got yourself a good time. Beef rib is ranked 2 in the nation. They are that good. Wings #1 in the nation. They are that good. Great local drafts along with other craft brews, you can’t go wrong. Try the smoked turkey or brisket sandwich. Add Momma’s mustard to the Turkey, for a pleasant surprise. I was here recently and enjoyed the smoke sausage slider. You won’t be disappointed. After finishing of the sausage slider I had the privilege of experiencing a new menu item ....wow , it’s a must...try the meatloaf. It isn’t on the menu but worth asking for; you can have it as part of a platter or as a slider. Super Bowl Sunday - no problem ... plan accordingly and they have got your back. Especially the Hurstbourne location.

Was really impressed with this place. Other reviews said the portions were small, I experienced the opposite. It seemed like you get a good value for the size and price of portions, especially of the sides. The green beans were so flavorful and you can tell the mashed potatoes were homemade. The meats we tried were awesome as well, even without adding bbq sauce. It was hard to choose a favorite between the beef ribs and pulled pork. Love the horse racing decor and that they make donating to charity a big part of their business.

Everything here is really great! The pulled pork is succulent and has great flavor. It tastes great without any sauce whatsoever, which is a true test of good barbecue pork. Sauces were both good, too; I prefer the spicy sauce, but the mild is tasty as well. The baked beans and fries were also great.

I ordered the salad with pulled chicken. The chicken was a little dry but had a good flavor. The cornbread croutons were good but small crumbles. But the terrible thing was that the salad greens were wilted and some of them slimy and rotten. I showed the salad to the waitress and the manager gave me the meal for free.

I have been a wing connoisseur for the last 15 years of my life, so trust me when I say, these are the best wings in the city of Louisville. There are others that come close but these win all around. They are big cuts, of quality meat which have been dry rubbed and smoked. Sauce is on the table, so no worries if you don't like getting your fingers dirty. Everything that Momma's serves is delicious, including what I consider to be the BEST dessert i've ever had in any restaurant. Don't believe me? Order the bread pudding and see if it doesn't change your life. I have friends who have moved away from Louisville and when they come home Momma's is on their list of places to eat. I'll be a Momma's customer for the rest of my life.

The atmosphere is low key and relaxed but the food is anything but. Whether it's the grilled cheese meatloaf, the wings or the pork, it was intense and full of flavor. The mustard and pickles are amazing as well. Knox was a blessing as our server. Really great guy. The only caveat I can provide is the sex shop next to it might inspire you on your way in...dont bother. When you leave all you'll want is a nice long nap, testament to the wonderful food and my age.

My boyfriend & I came here to try the smoked wings but when we got here the waitress said they were smoked, then flash fried in peanut oil for a couple seconds. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to try the wings & I’m allergic to peanuts, instead got the beef ribs, which were delicious! I which they offered just smoked wings or the option to flash fry them in canola oil. Overall I would definitely eat here again, food was very delicious! The owner ended up giving me some wings because of my peanut allergy that weren’t flash fried for me to try at home

Momma's is a great little BBQ restaurant. They have two locations in the east end. If you park in the back at the Hurstbourne location, you can see and smell the huge smoker. The aroma will grab you and pull you inside. All of the meats are delicious, but the burnt ends are to die for, yum! Be sure to try the fried pickles, the cornbread, and the cheesey corn. All are excellent. The owners also contribute a lot to charities, so when you dine there, you are also helping others. Enjoy!

Excellent wings, chicken sandwich, fries, half chicken, and briscut. Didn't know what to expect as far as seasoning but they do it great, the seasoning out of the kitchen is a salty dry rub with BBQ sauce in hot and medium on the table which both seem to have a similar taste to shrimp sauce. Great flavor. Great service very friendly and fast. Real reasonable pricing too.

Some colleagues took me here for lunch to celebrate a special occasion. The food was just fair. Turkey and smoked sausage were dry, green beans were devoid of seasoning. Food was delivered quickly, most likely because it had been staged early and kept warm for a while for quick turnaround as the place is quite small. Sure enough, 15-20 minutes into lunch the waitress came by and said “as soon as you all are ready to get up let me know because I have a party of 10 waiting”. She came by two more times and asked if she could make our drinks to go so we could give up the table. I’ve never experienced this before and we all found it to be rude. As far as I’m concerned there’s nothing here worth waiting in line for. I will not be back.

Food was great. When we got the Bill we noticed they automatically charged an additional 1% mandatory donation. We ask waitress about it and she said it was on the back of menu that they did this. Who flips over the menu and reads the small print under the kids meal. It was kinda underhanded how they go about it. If they had signs on table or let people opt out (which you can’t). Why not just charge more and donate your money. Also why not list who u donate too. Basically this place is taking your money, donating it to whom they want and getting a tax write off. How many people do they slip this by without noticing. Real shady. Loved the wings. But I won’t do business with dishonest people, and I don’t want my money going to charities I disagree with.

The BBQ was very good, however, the sides were rather bland. Too much onion in the slaw. The sauce, a tomato base similar to commercial, was nothing special. Did not have the fries but they looked very good! Hand cut and golden brown. Had takeout and the service was prompt and friendly. Would try again if in the area. Good value as a half chicken dinner with 2 sides is only $10.

This is the best tasting BB-Q wings I have ever had !! They are huge and amazing. I've been here several times and never had a bad experience.. the restuarant is clean and brite. The bar is well stocked and staff is friendly. This is a good for the whole family type of restaurant. Only small complaint is a little pricey

Heard about how Mommas has the best wings in town, wasnt disappointed. I will say I will pass on the cornbread, too sweet, almost like cake. Im not a fan of sweet corn bread. Just my personal opinion that.means nothing.

It was pretty good. Brisket sandwich as not dry but lacked some flavor. Mac and cheese was fabulous but I was really bummed that I couldn't get the donut bread pudding. They have some good beer on tap. Overall not a bad place to visit. Staff was very friendly.

Just wonderful! Most BBQ is good, this is a step above. The pulled pork was tender, and flavorful. The baked beans, and macNcheese good . You have to try the spicy fried pickles! A little pricey, but you have to consider the area where they are located. Overall...Good stuff!

The food was really good, there where plenty of options, and the draft list was exceptional. I had the brisket sandwich with fries and baked beans. The sides we're delicious while the brisket was a 6.5 out of 10. Overall my meal was an 8 out of 10. My girlfriend did pork sliders and loved the size as she usually can't finish the whole sandwich. Deserts looked awesome and next time we'll save room.

FOOD: The wings were phenomenal, probably the best wings I have ever had. The smoked sausage sliders were delectable; it was cooked the right amount and flavored the right amount. The brisket sandwich was alright (no offense), slightly on the dry side, but overall lacking flavor; it would be better if they can have some kind of au jus or homemade sauce. SERVICE: The bartender/seems-like boss was welcoming. And Lisa, the server, was very nice and helpful! We loved her throughout our entire meal. BATHROOM: The female bathroom was pretty clean and not dirty. The male bathroom was pretty stinky but not dirty.

Visited today for lunch, had the brisket with fries and baked beans. This was not my first visit but is my first review for Momma's. Based on today's experience, I'd give the restaurant one star. The brisket was just not good. No smoky flavor, very tough (difficult to cut with a fork), and looked liked sliced roast beef. No comparison to the other fine brisket available at nearby competitors. The fries were plentiful but served lukewarm. The beans were underwhelming. We had wings as an appetizer. They were (as usual) piping hot and delicious. There's nothing else qulte like these. During previous visits my experience has been better. The pork is good and the fries have been better in the past. . I've also had the burnt ends in the past and they are very good. I'd rank the burnt ends and wings as 5 star, the pork as 3-4 star and the brisket as 1 star. Service today was great. Our server was attentive and friendly. This place gets very loud as the seats fill up, and seems quite a lot louder than most restaurants are during lunch. There are many BBQ choices within a few miles radius. Momma's isn't near the top of my list.

BEST CHICKEN WINGS!!! My wife and I were passing through the area and decided to make a special trip to this place as we are big fans of "DDD" . Beef ribs were tasty but a bit dry. Everything else was just okay, but I'd def recommend this place...

Wing were on point!! Best smoked wings I've ever had. Bbq half chicken was speculate good Smokey flavor but not over powering. Slaw was like nothing I've ever tasted before an mashed potato were great side that complemented main course Greatly!! We will be back!!!
