Max puts out a wonderful home cooked buffet! Great price! My family has been going to Loudon Square Buffet since they opened in the 70s. Never a disappointment. If you miss Granny's fried chicken, Papaw Max's will make you feel at home.

Big fan of this place. Food is very good here. However, this place isn't for everyone. I don't mind that it's kinda gross on the inside, but when I took my mom and sister here, they hated it because of how gross it is. So, if you want it to be a clean fancy buffet, don't come here.

The food was so tasty. The people were very gracious and friendly. To those who have bashed this place because of the appearance...shame on you! You can clearly see the place has been there forever from the parking lot. The focus is NOT on decor! If this bothers you, don't go in.

To call this place rough is a bit of an understatement. There were multiple leaks, the ceiling seemed to be falling down, and the heat lamps looked like they might fall into the food. The food was fine for what it was, and the buffet was only $8.25 or so, but even for that the ambiance was just oppressive. I might not be the audience for this place, as it seemed to have a lot of local regulars. I hope this place stays open for them, but I can’t recommend anyone else go here.

This is the best little place ever!!! My fiancee and I eat here every Friday or Saturday. I love the food. Plus the price is very affordable. The choices change A little bit... but you pretty much know what your gonna get here. The staff is amazing and friendly. And prompt on everything. The food is always fresh and hot. And...AND..... they ALWAYS know we are coming and make me a special house salad with no bell peppers. I'm highly allergic.

I'm a bit biased; I've been coming here since I was a young lad. I'm now a husband and father. This is some of the breast fried fish and tartar sauce in town! This place may not be suitable for the upper class. I'm a blue collar, middle class guy. I love Max, the owner. He gets to know everyone. You can pay with a check or cash, NO CARDS! check it out, i beg you. And don't judge the book by its cover.

This buffet is value priced and offers a good selection of food. I feel there is a difference in quality from food to food as they serve some things that are clearly from a can or box (green beans, mashed potatoes, etc) while others are freshly made like the fried chicken and catfish. The place is definitely old but clean. If you're looking for top quality food, there are better places to go for country food. If you're looking for a very affordable buffet, this would do fine.

After reading several reviews, my wife and I decided to give this place a try. It was horrible. The place was dirty and smelled awful. The food was bland. Having grown up with a Southern mother who was a great cook, I know Southern cooking, and this place doesn't have it. A few hours after eating here, my wife and I were both sick. This restaurant might have been good at one time, but that was not our experience.

This is one of Lexington's finest classic country cooking buffets. It's CASH ONLY but just $8.50 including drink & tax is included. You'll find Max there most every day serving up some of the best grub in town. You won't see anything fancy on the outside or inside but the food will take you back 20 plus years and make ya miss your Grandma. I never miss a chance to go back.

So from the outside the Loudon Square Buffet looks pretty sketchy. However, the food on the inside was actually very good. There were plenty of options and you cant beat it for the $8.50 pricetag. Please know that they only accept cash, so go prepared. 94 on their inspection report. I would not hesitate at all to go back.

My kids were raised visiting Maxs for the last 20 years, he is like part of our family. We have had many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with Max at Loudon Square and his food cannot be beaten. Great man and a great restaurant.

I don't like this place as I go here sometimes due to my 95 year old Nanny loving it here. It is run down inside & out. The food is kept and reused the next day. I never get buffet anymore and order the burger and fries which is the best thing here for the price. Huge burger and fresh cut potato fries are the best meal to get here. My husband says fish is okay. Parking lot is the worst with potholes and bumps. Staff is friendly though.

If you own a certain vehicle or wear certain clothes to impress others, you will probably not be able to enjoy this place on based on it's food selection and flavor alone. Yes, it's a little more run down than I would like, but I have been going there for 40 years and the flavor and selection of food meets my needs. I don't own a European vehicle or wear fancy clothes so I fit right into the local clientele it attracts. Real people, real food, no need to put on airs here. Fancy folk should search out other places, maybe with the word cafe or eatery included in the name. I adore the sweet southern stewed tomatoes, it's a must have every visit... and I don't even like tomatoes!
